Mr D's was where I ate out for the first time with my lover since COVID started. We were unsure if we should have gone considering it was a hot day but we are so glad we did despite the heat. We sat outside and our waitress Claudia was friendly and attended us right away with everything that we needed. The food was delicious. I ordered the omelette with spinach, tomato, and feta cheese with home style potatoes; It was amazing. My bf ordered the biscuits and gravy. Overall my experience was a great one compared to other mainstream breakfast joints. I will definitely be returning to try other items off their huge menu. read more

I had the chicken avocado sandwich. It was piping hot and very tasty. Service was great. We sat in the bar area and was able to watch the angels play. Good times. read more

This was my very first experience at Mr. D's in Placentia. Visited on 7/18. I had only been to the one in La Verne before so I was very excited to try the one in my neighborhood, especially since I've heard good things about the place. I looked around and noticed there wasn't that many people there so I didn't think there were going to be any issues with having to wait for lunch. My boyfriend and I sat down and looked at the menu trying to decide what to eat. Once we figured it out, our waitress (an older white woman, don't remember her name) asked us if we were ready to order. My boyfriend went first and politely asked her for a breakfast item and was a little confused on the choices of sides that come with it so he proceeded to ask her about it. The woman who helped us out was extremely rude and impatient and stopped writing down what he wanted and told my boyfriend "you messed me up, now I'm going to have to rewrite your order" with attitude. My boyfriend was extremely shocked. He froze and didn't know what to say to her. It was so very rude for her to blame my boyfriend for HER mistake and give him attitude for it. Next, it was my turn to order. I ask her for another breakfast item. She writes it down and storms off. My boyfriend and I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and thought "maybe she's having a rough day?" So we try to give her another chance. But we notice that it wasn't just the mistake in the order that did it for us. We realized she was treating us differently compared to the other tables near us. She was polite with everyone else and even told them to have a good day as they left the restaurant. With us, she only dropped off the check. Never asked us how our food was and was rude to us the entire time. I have worked in the food industry for plenty of years and she did not treat us the way we were supposed to be treated. I'm sad to say but the restaurant does not live up to the hype it gets. Will not be coming back here. read more

Good food. But during the height of the pandemic, saw unmasked guests eating indoors.

My 1st time eating at Mr. D. Very nice 50"s theme. Love it. Extremely clean. Very nice kind staff. When I sat and looked at the menu, I thought "typical dinner" same foods. Nothing to get excited about. Until my food came. Wow!!! Amazing flavor. The Ribeye was so tender and tasty. No A1 needed. Chicken quesadilla yummy, baked potato yummy the darn corn was even good!!! CORN! Also they serve breakfast all day. Now I understand why there are many more locations. read more

The service from what looked like a manager was abominable. When we walked in he was sitting at the host station and had hoods arms crossed over hoods chest. Then he walked us out to the table and just threw the menus on the table didn't even ask us if we wanted coffee or something to drink. The food is just ok but the speed of food service is very good. read more

So my family and I were driving around looking for yard sales and we got hungry. I said let's see if we find someplace different for breakfast. As we were headed down Yorba Linda Blvd. I noticed a big sign that said "Finally Open" hahaha. I said to my husband, "turn around let's go there!". We pulled in and this restaurant has taken the place of the old Marie Callender's building. They had a huge open makeshift patio in the parking lot. Lots of tables and all covered with shade. We were seated right away. The menu was big with lots of choices. I started with a "Bloody Bacon" cocktail. It was delicious. Lots of flavor, perfectly spicy and garnished with a slice of bacon, two olives, a celery stick and rimmed with salt. The meals were huge and just as delicious. We got the Denver omelette , Nutella crepes, and turkey avocado melt. The tater tots were crispy and seasoned nicely. The crepes were light and airy and had lots of toppings. We went inside to check out the vibe and I can't wait until the restaurants are allowed to have indoor seating again. It's a 50's diner theme with great music. If you have a chance, be sure to check out this new din read more

It's not even 9:30 on a Friday night and they are closed when the hours say open till 11.... Make sure you call first!

Is ok the French toast is bad. But here's the thing: I was told this place is great by more than one person and in my mind that meant the French toast is good but it's not it's okay at best soggy at worst. The menu is large though so don't immediately write it off. The bacon and sausage was good though, not too hard to get that wrong but special mention goes to the bacon! It's really good! But the hash browns are not very good they are not crispy. Idk if they also serve them McDonald style but idk. If you go here, get some pancakes or a breakfast burrito until the French toast improves. Once I find I dish I like I'll recommend it read more

Great Restaurant. Their food, service, and atmosphere is GOOD! Very Large Portions so you can take home for the complete day's meals or even the next. Their Pulled Pork Sandwich is Spectacular and upgrading to onion rings instead of french fries is the best! You get so many onion rings along with soup, cole slaw, and pickle. If you like Shirley Temple's you will not be disappointed, they even have the cherries. My friend Loves Their Breakfasts all day long and as always too much food to eat there. Very Enjoyable And One Of Our Favorites! They also have breakfast, lunch specials, etc. Very Large Menu to choose from! Today was good for a business lunch because you are never rushed! read more

So I thought I had found another menu item I could eat. California Melt. This time tonight, the cook way overcooked the chicken until it's like shoe leather, then grilled the sandwich until the bread was basically burnt. I deconstructed the sandwich and found the chicken to be dry and leathery. I pretty much give up on this place now. I've thrown the meal into the garbage bin I'm so damn pissed and hungry. read more

Mr D's is a fantastic place to grab a bite. The staff is friendly, food is delicious, and service is quick and accurate. If you disagree I will trip you. Have yet to have a bad meal here. Stacie is a national treasure and needs to be protected at all costs. read more

This place was ok. Decor is cool. Food is Dinner food. Value? The jury is still out on that. If service was supposed to be like bad waiters in a dinner with rude ones for affect then it was average. I will go back because location is good and food selection is impressive. read more

Food is good. This was 2nd time here. 1st time was for breakfast. This time was for dinner and lots of specials. Prices not too bad. But, for this 2nd time the service was horrible. Was ignored for water fill ups and server: Lisa H. Did not acknowledge our table. Every other table around us got better service. Beverage fill ups, condiments, asking if wanting dessert or anything else. No upsell with us. I would give more stars but the customer service was lacking. All know that there is a pandemic and most people is out of work and would probably work with better service because they are working. I know I would. I am on temporary furlough and been out of work more than 5 months, I would love to work. read more

Absolutely love this place!! We come here all the time for breakfast and we are never disappointed! Stacie is literally the best server we have ever had and regardless of how busy she gets she always gives amazing service! Their tater tots are a MUST TRY! read more

I have driven past this place many times until tonight. I decided to bring my family in to give it a try for dinner. It had a good 50's diner vibe and was very clean. The service was very good with promptness and attention to detail with multiple check ins as well as anticipated needs. The beer was very cold and the burger was cooked to perfection and very juicy with a great bun. My child ordered pancakes with bacon and eggs and all were very tasty. We will be returning very soon as we all were very pleased! read more

Imagine a diner meets a bar meets a bar and grill meets amazingness. This place has it all, a menu to die for, food that makes your tummy die for more. A great addition to the city, a great addition to the county, a great addition to California. 10/10 will buy again. I'm gonna bring all my co workers out there and we aren't even from the city, but we'll worth the drive. I feel like I died and went to Valhalla. Will be a return customer. read more

Very disappointed after being here for the second time and they over cooked my eggs. Why would they serve eggs Benedict if they don't know how to cook poached eggs! After notifying the Server she offered me a new set of eggs on the side but took more that 20min just for some poached eggs I didn't even eat since we were ready to go. They should've at least remove the dish from my receipt or given me a discount but they didn't even read more

Good food! Great service and love the bar area and their servers are on top of everything! Highly recommend

The food I had was good no problem there. We had a party of 6 and when the check came the normal 20% was added on for tip. The had the tip automatically added on the bill the at the bottom the had the tip again so it looked like you could add in the 20 % tip in to pay it. So they are trying to add tip twice. We had a party of 6 and three individual bill they did this on it would of been approximately 60.00 extra they would of received. Check your bill so you won't be ripped off ! read more

Really disappointed. 2/3 meals we ordered were incorrect. I ordered the Nutella crepes and asked for no Ghirardelli chocolate drizzle on top. My food arrived and came with... no Nutella at all. I asked for extra on the side while ordering since I know they skimp on it, so thankfully I had some. When I told one of the servers what was wrong with the meals, he said "well you have Nutella right there anyways", and ignored what I said was wrong with my grandma's meal. Just an overall sad experience. read more

A new review. I posted a positive review 2 days ago. Had the happy hour chicken quesadilla the other day. It was so damn good. Ordered it again today. It lacked cheese, tortilla was dry like it was old and the chicken was very, very dry. Please be consistent with your food items. I would like the same consistency every time I come here. Please be consistent. I want to keep coming back. read more

First time buying a pie that I ordered for my moms birthday and they put blueberries in a boysenberry pie which was not what I ordered. Went back the next day exchanged it for a banana cream pie which the lady wanted to charge me $3 more for cause it was a cream pie but I was not about to pay more for something that wasn't even my choice to begin with and they were the ones to get it wrong. The crust definitely didn't taste homemade on either pie and the banana cream pie tasted artificial a frozen $5 pie would be much better I feel bad for those who have paid $18 for a terrible pie like that. read more

Pretty pricey for what this is. Typical Sysco food with shoddy service at best. Was hoping for a restaurant that made more of their dishes from scratch. Better off going to Paul's Country Kitchen or Mini Gourmet for good breakfast in the area. read more

I've only been there to pickup pie, so I won't comment on the other selections. Thankfully there is a place to buy pie locally. I was worried that when Marie Calendar shut down, I would be left with with one less choice...some people love Pollys...I'm not one of them. I ordered a cherry pie to go. It was tasty. The filling was tart and not too sweet. The crust had a little crunch to it and was not soggy. I would say it exceeded my expectations. To their credit they have a nice selection of in house, baked fresh daily pies. Can't wait to go try more pie! read more

Cool and fresh vibe inside. Huge improvement over the old Marie Calendars.. We had the patty melt and pastrami melt with coleslaw, fries and minestrone soup. Soup was very good and was full of fresh ingredients. I'm very picky about my pastrami and this one passed the test. It was lean and juicy. Patty melt is a good size and cooked just right. Coleslaw, eh standard, but it's coleslaw. They offer a wide variety of food options therefore everyone in your party is sure to find something they like. read more

Went in to have dinner. Waitress was busy even though the place was almost empty. Thought I'd ask her for a menu so we could read while waiting for her to get finished. Evidently she was having a bad day n took my request as an insult not thinking I was trying to save her steps. She grabbed the menu's and walked behind me making comments about me n when she got to our table she slapped the menu's on the table. I decided her attitude would probably get worse. So we left n will never go back because of her. She needs to be not so defensive when a patron asks for something. Instead of saying sure here you go n I'll be with you shortly she coped an attitude n made comments behind my back. Hope she gets her self together. read more

Shout out to Mr D's for our delicious lunch! First time there, and we were highly impressed! They seemed to be very busy, but still got my group of 3 seated at peak lunch hour in less than 5 mins of our arrival. The food only took 15 mins to arrive after we ordered. At our table, we ordered the salmon salad, the chicken club sandwich, banana caramel crepes, eggs, and hash browns. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals!! Our server, Stacie, went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed while we dined. We will be back for sure!!! read more

Today was our first time visiting this diner. We are new to the area and decided that we wanted to have breakfast here. Everything was fine until our food was served. My daughter ordered crepes and my husband quickly noticed an insect crawling on top of the strawberries. We immediately notified our server and asked to speak to the manager. The manager/owner Scott, took a while, but eventually did come over to our table. He was not professional at all. We did not like the way he handled the situation. He never apologized and was questioning the incident as if we were making things up to get a free meal. We clearly told him that we did not want a free meal and that we just want the staff to be more careful. We also informed him that there was no soap in the ladies room and waited about 15 minutes for someone to come in and refill the soap dispenser. This guy was very clueless. I thought he would have handled the situation better given that he was one of the owners. I will not be returning to the diner again! read more

The staff is great. Our server was very attentive and was very polite. I ordered the steak. It come out with the wrong side dishes. Then after waiting for thew right ones, they were cold. Cold enough I couldn't eat them. I just chalked it up to being newly opened and didn't say anything. The steak was very good. I took the sides home and reheated them in the microwave. My wife ordered the patty melt. She said it was good. May give it another try, but not sure. It seems based on the reviews this maybe a better breakfast place then dinner. read more

Great place, food was awesome it arrived at just the correct temperature not cold like some restaurants. We have been looking for a good restaurant and most certainly will return here soon. Staff was very friendly and made you feel welcomed. Prices are reasonable with a great many items to choose from. We loved the decor of this restaurant and the Car Booth was a great touch. We will certainly return soon. Will be back read more

I wanted to try this due to the long lines I saw in the morning and was assuming experience would be wonderful. Unfortunately I am disappointed due to substandard food quality and service. Our food was either undercooked and overdone and nothing was at par. The service was also lacking with our waiter doing his job but just not caring about his customers. We told him about the food issues we were having but he did nothing to resolve it. He also never came back to us after ordering and delivery of order. Only person we loved their was the hostess. She had positive energy and genuinely cared about people. This place is new in our area so hopefully they will improve and train better as well. read more
