I want to start off by saying I really like Mr D's. They have a good happy hour and really good breakfast. We have been coming here almost since it open and always enjoyed it. Reason for why I am giving only one star or should I say one star for the bartender tonight. Happy hour well drinks are $5 so we ordered two well Vodka and grapefruit when we got the bill bartender charged us $15. Asked her why they were $7.50 each and not $5. She said they charge extra for grapefruit. I let her know as long as we been coming here no other bartender has ever charged us extra for well vodka and grapefruit. For matter of fact no other bar I ever been to charges extra for well vodka and grapefruit. I asked her, a well drink is your well liquor plus a mix, right? She said yes, but we charge extra for grapefruit. So I asked if I got any other mix it would only be $5 she said correct. I let her know there was no where on the menu that they charge extra for grapefruit and she never told us they charge $2.50 for 1 ounce of grapefruit. They really must use a very high premium grapefruit that they can charge $2.50 ounce that is $80.00 for 32oz bottle of grapefruit juice So if you order a well drink just don't order grapefruit juice with it, unless you want to pay extra $2.50 read more

Stopped by in the morning to take advantage of their breakfast specials available before 9:30 am. They have a huge sign advertising two specials. As I walked in, there's no one to greet you, After about five minutes a waiter walked by and I mentioned that I wanted one of the specials to go. Out of view, I heard him mention my order to someone else. It turned out to be the hostess. She asked me what I needed and I again mentioned my order. I waited about 20 minutes in the lobby. She approached me again what I ordered and I repeated my order for the third time. She then mentioned that the specials were for dine in only. There's no stipulation mentioned on either of the two signs. She insisted that it was. As I was leaving the restaurant hungry and empty handed, I looked up at the signs again and there's no stipulation indicating "dine in only". The hostess could have mentioned that at the beginning of the encounter, She made me wait more than 20 minutes to turn away a potential future customer. read more

First time at this location! Thanks Monica A. for confirming they are open for dine in. We usually go to the La Vern location at least once a month. So excited that this place is open right now! Miss their food since Covid. This place is an exact replica of their La Vern location except just BIGGER and more Diner appeal with nostalgic decor. Love the family type atmosphere and small town feel. Now let's get to the food... Exact to bigger portions. Presentation always on point and food is delicious!!! Mr. D's is our Go-to breakfast place. They have many choices to choose from and caters to our family of 7 with different likes. Today I ordered the Strawberry Crepes Combo with over medium eggs, hashbrowns and side of bacon. Hubby ordered the Thick French Toast Combo with over medium eggs and bacon & sausage. Soooo GOOOOOD!!! Cooked perfectly and just the right amount of seasoning. We will definitely be coming back!!! And we highly recommend even though we would like to keep this place a SECRET!!! read more

The tater totes were so good! Crispy in the outside and soft in the inside. The variety of breakfast plates we ordered were good. Crepes, Benedict, and basic breakfast plates. The service was good. Only thing is outside eating was unbearable in the heat! So eat fast and be done. The plastic straw got this place the extra star. Love to sip from a functional straw. read more

This was the first time dining out since the COVID outbreak. It sure felt nice getting out. This is an old style diner with a huge menu. It's hard to decide what to order because you want it all. I ordered the Cowboy burger with fries and a chocolate shake. The burger was delicious and juicy. I would probably order a double or triple next time. The fries are a steak cut style. The shake wasn't served in a tall glass like you would expect to see a shake in. I'll pass on the shakes on future visits. I love the restaurant decor. The server was very nice and she didn't rush me looking at the menu since it's so big. All tables were spaced apart for COVID social distancing, and employees were all wearing masks. Since the menu is so big I wish I would have taken a menu home to study it, but I can always see the menu online. I will definitely be back to try other items. read more

The french toast combo ($9.99) was good but on the sweet side. O/M eggs were cooked perfectly. Sausage and bacon were middle of the road typical diner flavor, cheap and just ok. Biscuits and gravy ($6.49) were ok as well. Coffee ($2.99) We'll come back and try lunch sometime. read more

We have been disappointed with a lot of our regular breakfast places lately. So I was really hoping Mr. D's would be great. First impression is that it is. The 50's diner theme is fun, but the food is also very good. Portions are generous. I had the "New Orleans" omelet with pancakes. Both were okay excellent. I can't wait to sample more of their menu items soon. read more

We went to Mr D'S today for lunch. It's always a bit dicey with my special needs grandson. We had a phenomenal experience. Food was great. Our server was superb. Stacy gave Justin her undivided attention . He orders with a computer device. She directed questions to him. She treated him as she would any 17 year old typical teen. I was so grateful. It takes us a bit longer to get everything ready to eat and she was so patient. We loved our experience at Mr D'S. Stacy is a gem! read more

I got spaghetti and it was Awful food when I got Uber eats from here. It was unsanitary.

I gave this a generous 2 stars The food was very bland I had the beefeater 16.99 for a French dip The French roll was stale the dip was bland pretty much just beef broth. French fries were good. I tried both soups both were terrible My wife said the hamburger was ok nothing special Iced tea was good but it was 4 dollars for iced tea Our bill was 44 dollars before tip so 55 for lunch and it was a bad lunch My wife was very hungry and gave me a choice of carls or the diner Bad decision I did like the decor kinda like pulp fiction vibe read more

I've been here three or four times in the past 2 months and have tried different types of dishes whether it was breakfast or lunch or dinner and every time it was a disappointment. The food quality is not good but the atmosphere is great. I'm only giving it a two star review because of the atmosphere and the ambience. The food is quite lacking read more

Mr. D's is one of our new favorite restaurants/ bars. The bar area is amazing! The whole restaurant is very festive and fun, but I prefer sitting in the bar area. The happy hour menu is great. My husband and I are always on the hunt for unique sandwiches. Look no further, the sandwiches here are amazing! We LOVE the veggie melt. It is piled high with fresh veggies and cheese. It is very satisfying. We also love the chicken sandwich on sourdough. Amazing quality chicken and toppings. The seasoned steak fries are phenomenal. I've tried the tomato bisque soup and its quite yummy. My grandpa loves the traditional breakfasts here. This is a great place for the whole family, or a date night. We bought a turkey here for Thanksgiving. The process was easy and pick up was very organized. The turkey was so juicy and flavorful. We will definitely do that again. This place has it all; fun atmosphere, great good, ice cold drinks, and great prices. read more

Bland food and strange policy's I order a mimosa not a bottomless one and it was bitter so I asked my mom to try and as she was taking a sip the waiter comes around the corner all noisy saying you can't share drinks like I understand if it's unlimited but it wasn't. I honestly felt like they type casted us as we were large Mexican family and they figured we cheap. Honesty food is not good no flavor and the mimosas are nasty won't be coming here ever again. I hate places that still harbor racism vibes and this place just had that vibe. They like their old white regulars and I guess my family and I were too much for them lol read more

This is a 60s style diner. It has only opened recently and is new. The menu is excellent it has a large variety of foods. You can have breakfast all day. We ordered a chili burger/ bacon cheese burger a turkey and avocado sandwich and a chicken and avocado sandwich. All of the meals were ordered with tater tots but you could have fries. The buns and bread on the sandwiches were good and had a nice taste. The bread was fresh. I really enjoyed my chili burger. It did need more chili but they gave me more with no extra charge. The burger itself was large and juicy. The food was all good. If I had any complaints/recommendations it would be add more tater tots to the meal and a little bit more avocado to the sandwiches. I am looking forward to returning and trying their deserts. The pie looked good. Service was amazing. Our waiter was very helpful. Prices were what you expected. Our bill was under a 100 for everything. I will return. read more

This was my second time here and both times I had a great experience with the food and service. The staff was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. Food portions are huge ! I love breakfast foods so this was a great place for it. They have a big menu so there's plenty of options to choose from. We had the San Fran benedict, pastrami chili cheese fries, Santorini skillet (not pictured), and pankcakes this time and everything came out fresh and delicious. We accidentally messed up on our order (the food had already came out), and our waitress was so nice to fix it for us. They have outdoor seating with tents up so it's really nice considering how hot it's been recently. I definitely would return again! read more

From the time the chipper maitre dé greeted us, until we paid our check, the service and meal were stellar. This venue, which was a defunct Marie Callender's, has been completely renovated. The nostalgic 1950's diner theme is complemented by wall murals featuring regional staples and well-known locales. It's rare to find such an extensive menu where, no matter what you select, you will get top quality food, prepared to order and delivered to your table promptly, with a pleasing presentation. Every person in our large party had hot, delicious food, and we all left pleasantly surprised and satisfied. I enjoyed the banana caramel crépes and they did not disappoint. I highly recommend this place and our family will definitely be returning. I was not asked, or paid, to write this review. read more

I came in at like 8pm, and ordered a coffee and some boysenberry pie a la mode. Picasso! I like it! To begin, the coffee was really good! It tasted fresh and was smooth. It wasn't very bitter which was good. I was really impressed. No sweet and low but the equal was good. They offered 2 kinds of creamer, vanilla and plain. It was bottomless! They had a variety of pies but I ordered boysenberry. And let me tell you!!!!! It was so good with the vanilla ice cream. They warmed it up. Oh it was a mini pie. Probably the size of a hand. The service was really good, the girl helping us was really nice and attentive. The coffee was like 3.49, pie with ice cream was 7.99. When it comes to COVID stuff, The seats were close to each other but had barriers in between the booths, workers were unmasked. Minus points. But the food was good and nice atmosphere lol read more

Everything on my plate was premade. I ordered the roast beef dinner, and I should have known that receiving my food less than 20 minutes after I ordered it meant that it wasn't going to be homemade. My salad was mostly lettuce heels and wilted leaves. The roast beef was DELI LUNCH MEAT (yes, the kind you can buy in a package at the grocery store) covered in canned gravy. After trying the mashed potatoes, they were very suspiciously lukewarm and stiff, and had the grainy consistency that boxed spuds have. The audacity to charge me $19 for microwave cookery and almost $4 for a soda is nothing short of maddening. The booth seats were sticky and the whole place had a very unclean feel. One star because our waiter was very attentive and friendly. read more

I love coming here the atmosphere is always home vibes. I usually bring my kids but today decided just me and the hubby. My wife and I decided to try Mr.D's for breakfast. We went on a Saturday morning fairly early and it was not crowded. I like the fifties diner decor, with bright colors and murals of old classic cars and a Marilyn Monroe type mannequin sitting in the waiting area. They even have a bright red classic car made into a booth. My wife ordered eggs, bacon, and toast, and I had the chorizo burrito. Both good. Our server was pleasant and efficient. We now want to come back for dinner. This place is close to our home so it could become a new go-to restaurant for us. read more

June 2020, We have been waiting for this location to open since it took over the original Marie Calendars. From the moment we walked through the doors we were transformed into a classic 50s diner vibe. We were seated near the back where I felt I was sitting in a pulp fiction movie which made our experience here over the top. I ordered the Mr D Favorite (gyro omelette w/ country potatoes and a side of pancake) and my BF ordered a burger (avocado and bacon). The portion sizes here are fairly large and the prices are fair. We opted for a peach pie togo but the downfall was it tasted mediocre for the price ($5.00). read more

Wonderful service tonight from Lou P. Our order was exactly right. Lou checked on us several times to see if we needed anything. Also, once again another delicious omelette. The Payday omelette is plenty large enough for 2 people to split. It comes with bacon, ham, chorizo, sausage, cheddar cheese and jack cheese. The omelette is served with your choice of hash browns or another type of potato...perhaps country potatoes? Also served with your choice of a pancake or toast. It was cooked perfectly! This is now the 3rd issue we have had at Mr.D's and we are officially done ordering here! I like to give people the benefit of doubt, which is why we continued to go back and try again. This time, I ordered extra crispy bacon, you can see in the picture shown, it is not in the slightest bit crispy. Also ordered the crabby Benedict and the egg was over cooked. Pretty sure eggs Benedict are supposed to be runny. And the tater tots on the side of the Benedict were crispy, but almost tasted stale or as if they were from the day before and just reheated. In previous orders, they have forgotten an item on two separate occasions! Then told me I would have to go pick it up even though it was for delivery! Overall, just done with Mr. D's. read more

We went to breakfast this morning, we had a party of eight. Our server knew many of the customers eating around us and it took too long to have our order taken, get refills, bring missed items because she was too busy talking with everyone! My daughter and I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was awful. It was dry, had too many hash browns, which were cold and tasteless, very little eggs and ham. Others said their breakfast was ok. They last few times we have eaten here it was not good. I was upset that I was charged an automatic 20% for bad service. We won't be back. read more
