Dinner was amazing. Our group usually just order's a bunch of stuff and we end up sharing everything. The bill for 3 of us not including tip was just over $250. Service was great we always had what we needed. We started out with the Warm Pimento Cheese, the Smoked Angus Short Rib and the Ahi Tuna Crudo. Of the 3 my favorite was definitely the Warm Pimento Cheese, wow. I'd say it's a must order if you're dining at Mountain standard. For dinner we ordered the Standard Wedge, SRF Wagyu Picanha Steak and the Steelhead Trout. Of the three I'd go with the Steelhead Trout which is surprising for me because I never go with the fish but the butternut squash gnocchi that was paired with it was amazing. For dessert I ordered the campfire smore drumstick which was also surprisingly good because it just looks like a traditional ice cream cone that took us a minute to cut into. Highly recommend checking out mountain standard and hope my recommendations help. read more

The food is so delicious. The service was impeccable. The ambience and aesthetic simply superb. We tried the catch of the day which we were told was New Orleans inspired jumbo prawns over coconut infused grits. AMAZING!!! The burger was delicious as well. You simply must eat here when in Vail. Amazing food. Beautiful atmosphere. Phenomenal service. My husband and I have dined at several restaurants in Vail and I would say this competes for being the best restaurant. Everything about this place is 5 star. Accepted walk-ins at 5pm came in clutch as we had wanted to try this restaurant, but it's tough to get a reservation. A very thoughtful menu with food crafted in a very intelligent way. Overall delicious food and very well presented. The selection of food is stellar. They have some things on the menu that are really hard to find, like bone marrow. The bone marrow is incredible.. this is a must order. Their shrimp and grits dish was amazing. We are 100% coming back here every time we visit Vail. read more

Had an absolutely wonderful meal at Mountain Standard this is my new favorite restaurant in Vail! The food and atmosphere are perfect for a nice meal after a long day on the mountain. For some reason I had never gotten around to trying bone marrow and this was my first time ever eating it. I definitely chose the right spot because the bone marrow here was melt in your mouth amazing! After that we ate the shrimp and grits which were lovely nice and creamy with a perfect balance of spices! I wish we we're hungrier because they had a bunch of other dishes I'm dying to try once I go back! read more

Used to be 5 stars but soemthing changed with their burgers, just not great anymore - they're ok - onion rings still great, salads and dinner tri tip is good but the rest is ok read more

I came here for dinner while staying in Vail to enjoy hiking for the summer. We were seated outside on the patio and the view of the river was beautiful! They had an interesting menu with good options and decent pricing. I will say that there aren't many vegetables on the menu (no sides) so something to keep in mind if you're trying to be veggie focused. I will say that the service to our table in particular was slow when the tables around us seemed to be getting attention. However I know they were busy so perhaps we were just being given time. The food was really good and I'd recommend a stop in. read more

Top 10 burger. A little on the pricey side but it's vail. No sweet potato fries was my only critique.

We were really looking forward to trying this place based on a friend's review, but unfortunately had a somewhat disappointing experience as far as service with the manager. It's a loud and busy popular place. Our party of four was seated right away with our reservation on a Saturday evening. Our waiter was very polite and when we asked about wines, he said he wasn't too familiar with them and said he would be happy to grab his manager, who is a sommelier. We said it wasn't necessary, but he was so gracious and said he would grab her. The manager on duty came to our table 15 minutes later and surprisingly was curt and disinterested when we only asked a couple questions to help us chose our wine. We felt like we were a bother to ask questions to someone that is supposed to be trained to be skilled in wine theory and table-side service. The grilled mahi mahi and the Angus steak both had great flavor and the meal itself was delicious, but the experience with the somm/manager on duty had us disappointed when we left. read more

Had lunch with a vendor rep during a meeting in Vail and it was great. The bartenders were terrific while we waited and our lunch was excellent. Started with oysters that were really fresh and the split a couple of things. Would definitely go back. Sat out side with the stream going by. Ambiance doesn't get much better than that. All in all a great afternoon. read more

Great atmosphere. Had a lovely table right by the open window. The oyster shooters and oysters were fabulous. I wish they had a few more cocktails to choose from. I tried the Alebrije and it tasted like a fireball shot. So do what you want with that information.... Overall, highly recommend the place. read more

Three stars representing average/above average. I'd do 3.5 if I could. Very good service and cool ambiance but if you don't love bacon then your menu choices are limited. Maybe that's their thing (in which case ignore this review) but if menu planning was up to me I'd tone it down a bit and reduce the number of meat on meat dishes. Again though, service was very good and our server made sure to accommodate a rare food allergy in our party. I'd go back but it wouldn't be my top choice in Vail Village. read more

Updating this review because we ended up back there for a second night in a row, which is unusual for us and was kind of an accident, but I'm so glad we did. We enjoyed our food even more this time, and the vibe and service are both immaculate. How can a simple rotisserie chicken salad with fried artichokes taste so damn good? My husband had some sort of delicious and very flavorful mahi-mahi. We are big fans now and will definitely be back on our next visit. read more

This place was so good! And our service was 10/10!! My only complaint is that it was so so loud inside. But apart from that, it was an amazing meal! First off, Charles and Daniel were amazing servers! So nice, helpful and fun! I was not very excited by the cocktails list but Charles said I could just tell him what I like and the bartender would make me something. The drink they made me was SO good! It was mezcal with some fruit and some spice. It was amazing! Wish I knew what it was... Food: -LOVED the Grilled Avocado and Pistachio dip -The Buttermilk and Sea Salt Biscuits were incredible (obsessed with their pepper jelly) -Warm Pimento cheese was delicious -I did not like the Wagyu Picanha steak but I did love the Japanese street corn it came with Definitely maje a reservation and eat here in Vail! Giving that rating since even food was amazing but service was not professional at alll. Even have to say people from the kitchen who brought food were knowledgeable and friendly. But our waitress was probably new so sorry for her but did nit know anything about menu. When we asked about if salad big enough to split she said yes was surprised whe we got tree endive leaves . Salad was delicious but since our main course was trout with a lot of bib lettuce , different appetizer was more appropriate. Wish we got that advice . Also we had to wait for a while after being seated at least for her to show up. Funny we got our wine after we already had salad :) . read more

The server told me they are on their 75th menu iteration in 7 years. That's awesome - and tells you a lot about their desire to perfect the offerings. The salads were more than standard - and showed they have amazing produce relationships providing them ingredients at the peak of freshness. The onion rings were fantastic and the short rib was complex - they put some hours in on the braise for certain. The peel and eat shrimp won't worth the mess and effort. You better get in front of that res if you plan on eating there on a weekend - as all of Vail is trying to get in. The wine list is highly cultivated and attractively priced. Server was a pro - need a little improvement on teamwork and bussing plates. Expect a great experience. read more

Mountain Standard - Sea Smoke tastes so good when it hits your lips. - New American Near Me - Vail, Colorado

This is one of the quintessential Vail necessities! A "rustic tavern" located near Gore Creek, Mountain Standard is quite the fancy dining spot for an intimate date night or large-scale family affair. The atmosphere is elegant but not overtly ostentatious, and there's a great view of the kitchen, complete with chefs that could be straight out of FX's "The Bear", whooping and hollering if you order some sort of special food item that I couldn't quite decipher. The items on the menu might seem simplistic from their condensed descriptions but they are presented in such a wholly original way, injected with a fresh creative spin that reflects the signature style of this restaurant. The Spinach n Artichoke Dip, for instance, is like nothing you've had anywhere else. The mocktails were refreshingly unique. The main entree's portions are the perfect size despite the trompe l'oeil illusory "objects may be larger than they appear" exhibition when first glancing at your plate, not to mention delicious. And I would personally suggest the Snickers Ice Cream Bar to really top it all off. Mountain Standard is definitely a 'Vail standard' in my book, just make sure to arrive early if you plan on going for dinner, as this place fills up rather fast, and for good reason! read more

I travel a lot for work. I am thankful to have a job that allows me to travel and enjoy many fine dining restaurants. It's unusual that I leave a review when I have a good experience (I've probably left a few negative ones when I thought others needed to know). I always try to ask the locals where the best restaurants are when I can. An employee of the hotel I am staying at actually recommended Mountain Standard. I just don't even know how to describe how amazing this restaurant was. 1. The food was over the top good. Comfort foods, classic american. Everything on the menu looked so good I had to try a lot of things. The pimento cheese topped with bacon jam....wow. If you're a cheese lover this is a can't miss for you (and if you like bacon you'll think you wnet to heaven). If you think a wedge salad can't be better than the other 30 you've had at other amazing restaurants....you're wrong. The Waygu steak was over the top. I'm probably going back tomorrow night because I didn't get to try some of the other dishes that are my go-to's at other places. 2. The drinks are on point. At restaurants I'm typically a bourbon guy. I love an old fashioned. I love nice bourbons. Their old fashioned was perfection. Very nice selection of bourbons. I will also point out that I was super impressed with their scotch selection. I go to a lot of nice bars with 14 year Balvenie. It's very rare that I see a 21 year Balvenie. If you like clear liquors I can't help you. I saw Titos and know that's decent but I'm guessing the selection of those have equally as preferable options to the scotches and bourbons....I'm the kind of guy that likes his classics but I like them to be amazing...this was certainly the right bar for me. Also there was a PRETTY nice wine selection....not like a book of wines but a good selection of basic wines that anyone would like if you're in the mood for wine. 3. The people were so nice and accomodating without being negative. As I travel alone a good bit I enjoy sitting at the bar and people watching, meeting other people sitting up there. Usually they push you along at the hostess stand and tell you to stand until you can grab a seat from someone getting up. Here they will actually put you in line and reserve you a seat at the bar. This was great. I could just stand back and have a drink to chill until they called me over to my seat. I thought that this was a great service. You don't see it much. 4. The atmosphere was very welcoming. As a visitor you don't always know how you should dress going to nicer restaurants. There were guys in cuffed shirts and some in t-shirts. It was very laid back but in a classy sort of way. Such a great mix of people. That also makes me want to mention that I thought what you get for your money at this restaurant was pretty good too! When I look at the cost of dining at a restaurant I don't just look at the cost of the food and drinks but I also look at what the experience is worth. This was a great experience. Basically, I liked this place a little....go enjoy. You can thank me afterwards. read more

Great service, Great food and drinks! The atmosphere is cool too especially after skiing or snowboarding.

A gem for sure! Ambiance is nice. Modern yet cozy. Wouldn't be good for a young family, and could be considered a tad loud. But we had a very nice evening here. Service was excellent-shout out to Christine for fitting us in without a reservation, and great help from Matthew too. Simple greens salad was nice. The short rib dish was INSANEEEE. One of the upscale restaurants in Vail. Our experience here was great. The server was very helpful with giving us her favorites and recommended some options that were also really good. Came here with two others and was instantly seated. With Covid several restaurants in Colorado are open for patio dining and carry out only, so we were pleased to see that in door dining was available. The restaurant has a quaint feel. Dim lighting and a great view into the kitchen to see the masterminds put our meals together. The only downside to eating here is trying to find parking close enough to the restaurant. I feel like the portion sizes to price ratio was on the smaller end. read more
