Came here for a quick breakfast. Food was as great as always. I am most impressed by how high of a bar they set themselves for all these years. I first came here 6 years ago and this place has never let me down. Not once. Thank you as always for being the greatest. Service was fast. You do have to bus yourself, but it's not a big deal. The ambiance is good, but I wouldn't say that's the most inspiring aspect of this restaurant. But it's beginning to feel like a neighborhood gem that you shouldn't ever skip! Strong recommend.
Located towards the end of The Ave with plenty of street parking. Once you enter, you are greeted and asked to order prior to being seated. The decor is very chic with cafeteria style seating and trinkets all throughout the restaurant. We ordered The Fast Break and The Spanish Fly. Both were similarly structured with their own style for each Sammie. The biscuit had a nice texture, the eggs were cooked well, and the savory brought everything together.
I've lost count on how many times I've gone here. The place is usually lively on the weekends since there's also a farmers market hosted on the street. It's self serve and seats are somewhat limited when it's busy, but I usually don't have to wait long. We ordered: The Fast Break - Even through my countless visits I stay loyal to my one and only, The Fast Break. Their sweet and tangy tomato jam is my absolute favorite. I'll never get tired of it. The Spanish Fly - My friends usually order this for a fresh and savory breakfast. My second favorite next to the Fast Break.
We stopped into Morsel for brunch one Sunday afternoon with a craving for biscuits. The staff was nice, it felt like a neat little breakfast diner, and the service was fast. The biscuits themselves were good! A little crisper than I prefer, but it was a good biscuit. The gravy wasn't my cup of tea. Having grown up in the south, I'm used to a very specific flavor profile for sausage gravy, and it just didn't hit the mark for me. It wasn't bad by any means, probably just some addition of extra spice like extra sage or maybe rosemary that just didn't sit exactly well with my taste buds. My wife's BEC was great! They have some sweeter options I'd love to try next time I go as well!
This business needs your support. The kind (and very cute) owner let me know that they need more business this summer. I've been coming here for a long time, and not often enough lately. Today I ordered a dirty chai and a biscuit and gravies with half mushroom and half pork sausage. Please rush over here and bring all your friends. The music is good, the booths are comfortable. And on a Sunday there's tons of parking if you need to drive or light rail is super close. Delicious food!!!
Came here from a recommendation that these were one of the best biscuits In Seattle. I got the Spanish fly and it was delicious. Super savory. The egg was runny, and everything was well balanced. Personal preference, I think the biscuit was a bit hard and dry for my taste. Overall solid spot for a quick bite though. Food: 7.3/10 Service: 10/10 Ambience: 8/10
A solid breakfast spot that specializes in biscuits and breakfast sandwiches, and it definitely delivered. We ordered the Fast Break sandwich on both a cheddar chive biscuit and a buttermilk biscuit. The sandwiches were stacked and flavorful, and the biscuits were the star--flaky, buttery, and perfectly balanced. Not dry, not soggy--just right.
I visited Morsel for a weekday lunch and it wasn't too crowded at all. A couple of things to start: this is a counter service establishment - order at the front, pick up in front of the kitchen area, bus the tables, etc. Items that include biscuits have a surcharge for higher tier biscuits. E.g. ordering a $14.75 sandwich with a Biscuit Special will be 75 cents more. Pricing seems quite steep, but tax is already included. With that being said, pricing still seems to be quite high for the size of the biscuit sandwiches. The Spanish Fly w/ Biscuit Special ($15.50) - The biscuit special, pickled onion cheddar, is quite good. It's very buttery, moist, and fluffy on the interior, albeit not particularly layered or flaky, but with no hint of dryness. The exterior is nice as well, being toasted until a crunchy crust develops. There's plenty of cheddar baked inside, although I'm not sure the pickled onion comes out all that much over everything in the sandwich. For the fillings, they first start with melted manchego on the bottom that's extremely bubbly and is toasted to the point of almost becoming a cheese crisp on the edges, while the interior still remains stretchy. On top of that lies a piece of prosciutto. I was expecting the typical cold cured piece of thinly sliced meat, but they actually fry the prosciutto, which transforms it into something similar to bacon in both cured saltiness and crisp. On top of that is an over easy egg, the yolk already punctured before service, spilling all over the side to be used a dip for the sandwich. A bit of arugula, spicy and bitter, lie on top, followed by a smear of pepper aioli. The aioli is very sweet pepper forward in flavor with no heat. After assembly, I believe the entire sandwich is then toasted as a whole so that's it's served entirely warm. (4/5) Overall I found the biscuit sandwich to be good, but a bit on the smaller side for the price. I'd love to go back to try some of the biscuits by themselves rather than a sandwich. Firstly to judge the actual biscuit quality by itself, but also because I'm not sure it's worth the additional $11 to upgrade the biscuit to a sandwich. Bathrooms - Two unisex rooms
This place gets really busy on the weekends so keep that in mind in terms of wait times. It's especially busy during the u district farmers markets. I got the fast break and did not like the cheddar and chive biscuit that I got. The biscuit was very dense and hard, but also dry. The tomato jam was not to my pallet so it just may be a personal preferences thing, but it was really sweet and I did not think everything went well together with the bacon egg and cheese and then the biscuit together. Felt a bit disjointed as a result and I think there's better breakfast sandwiches to be had elsewhere.
When there's no signage or branding except for a free standing chalk board, you just know things will be either very good or very bad...so happy to say VERY GOOD. Though the decor is kinda awful-trying way too hard to be artsy but fails. But don't let the phones glued to the wall distract you from the delicious lattes and that glorious assortment of biscuits!
The garlic cheddar biscuit buns were absolutely phenomenal and elevated the entire sandwich. Reminds me of the Dutch Crunch bread from Ike's love and sandwiches. Extremely BUTTERY and textured with crunchy outside and moist inside with each bite. The fillings inside were simple but fresh and the buns made the experience. Tastes way better than it looks. Picture doesn't do it justice. Small little restaurant with sufficient tables and a small menu. They are a bit short staffed so you will need to bus your own table. Also offer self served water and condiments. Their signature chili sauce condiments were amazing.
I've been wanting to try morsel for months now and I finally rode my bike there and had a delightful experience. The biscuit was on point! Flaky in the way that makes you pause and appreciate layers. It was warm, lightly golden, and the chives went together well with the bacon and egg. And then there's the tomato jam!!! I love me some tomato jam so this is why I opted for the "Fast Break" sammie. It's just sweet enough to lift the biscuit, tangy enough to keep things interesting. I wanted a pile of that tomato jam on my plate honestly. Like my other reviews I dig my sauces!!!! I'll be back. It was very filling and I didn't even need to eat for the rest of the day! The workers were kind and upbeat and very welcoming once you walked in the door. Interesting decor inside too! Good vibes!
Very cozy easy to miss spot just a hop from U-Washington campus. A bit expensive but Biscuits are amazing. The sandwiches are even better. So many flavors combining together and they work great

I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I walked into Morsel. Windows obstructed by condensation, counter blocked by masses of people. No room to move, cacophony preventing hearing anything. I picked the Spanish Fly Biscuit Sandwich and an 8oz latte at random. Once I had ordered and had a chance to get acclimated I noticed how friendly and earnest the staff was. They knew customers and the names of the coffee beans by name. They were using the expensive quality ingredients, and were educating their guests to the value and origin of the food. I had to take my food to the car as there was no room to sit. I sit here now, mind blown. They need a bigger place, but I hope they never lose that closeness to their customers or the sourcing of their food that they have now in that steamy little shop. read more

I always crave Morsel when I walk by it as the amazing smell fills up the entire block. It's only open in the morning and early afternoon. They have the best biscuits and gravy on the Ave. I highly recommend the cheesy biscuit with the tomato sauce. Their sausage biscuits and gravy and their cheesy biscuit are their two best dishes. They offer sit down dining experience or you can enjoy your bagel to-go. The interior is quite small, and usually very hot, so it 's best to eat the biscuit elsewhere. The staff is always very friendly and the service is good. read more

Morsel does biscuits right. They are buttery, tender, and a little flaky - just the right texture! We tried the Spanish fly on a cheddar chive biscuit, fast break on a cheddar chive biscuit, as well as a regular buttermilk biscuit with fig honey. The biscuits are big and very satisfying, but you don't feel greasy or gross afterwards. The Spanish fly and fast break biscuit sandwiches are a hearty and delicious way to start the day! We came here on a saturday morning and, as other reviewers have said, there is a line out the door. The place itself is really small so having a line out the door is not quite as impressive..but having people line up out the door is always a good sign. There really isn't much seating at all inside (two small tables, two big tables, and some miscellaneous seating), but the turnover rate is pretty fast so by the time you've ordered, other people are leaving and seating opens up. Overall, Morsel is a casual and delicious place to grab a nice brunch! I will definitely be back! read more

BISCUITS. Multiple flavors of giant, butter-packed, flaky biscuits, with or without fillings. That's really all you need to know to make the decision on going here. Be forewarned that this place is tiny with only 5 tables and tight quarters for moving around after you've ordered. Get there before 11 on weekends to beat the crowds. read more
Holy Toledo! This place was absolutely amazing and a must stop on a rainy morning in Seattle. This spot isn't very big, be prepared to wait for seating. Trust me, the wait the 100% worth it :) Since this was our first time and last time for a while, since we live in Canada, we splurged! My partner and I each got a Spanish fly on a buttermilk biscuit, an order of biscuits and mushroom gravy, orange juice and I got a mocha latte. My partner is very sensitive when it comes to salt and although she LOVED the spanish fly be prepared as the prosciutto is very salty but delicious! Whoa. No chance of dieting here. Which is what makes this meal so darn delicious. Buttermilk biscuits. Thick, Buttery flakiness. Just add some stuffing to it and you have a perfect breakfast lunch or dinner meal. This definitely hits your stomach hard. Delicious with every bite, but makes you full full full. Maybe avoid if you're looking for a light meal or if you're watching your figure. Otherwise, I'd say go for it! read more
Being from the South, we were excited for biscuits. We got a spanish fly and a biscuits and gravy. The spanish fly was okay - kind of found it dry honestly. But the biscuits and gravy were so good! The gravy is pretty rich and the flavor was great - not too salty or bland like most places end up doing gravy. We neglected to get an egg on it and now I wish we had. I like that you can choose your biscuit! read more
I ordered the Spanish Fly with an over medium egg. I have to say that the biscuits were as good as it gets! These were probably the best biscuits that I have had in a long time. It was toasted to perfection and the arugula, egg, and prosciutto with tomato jam made this a wonderful sandwich. There was no place to sit so we just took our morsel to Red Squire and had a picnic on the bench. There were not much cherry blossoms left but the sandwich more than made up for the view. My friend got the Fast Break because she was craving bacon and she enjoyed it as well. The drip coffee machines was broken when I went so I had to get an Americano on ice which was okay. There were no more cheddar and chives biscuits when I went, but the plain butter biscuits were top notch! I can't wait to go back and try the other things. read more

BEST BISCUITS EVER!! No type of biscuit fanatic but man, oh man- now I think I am! I've never had such savory, perfectly flaky biscuits! I got the Spanish Fly with maple bacon biscuit, Fast Break with cheddar chive biscuit, and took advice from Yelp and also ordered the Biscuit & Gravy with mushroom sauce with jalapeño fixins. Hnnnnnng oh god, I was not prepared for the mouthgasm with the Spanish Fly and the Fast Break. Well-crafted fillings in between perfect fluffy biscuits!! Had to order the Spanish fly because c'mon.. Prosciutto? With an egg? Order this if you're looking for a delicious protein sandwich. Go for the Fast Break if you want more flavor because the tomato jam will give your taste buds a party. As for the Biscuits & Gravy with mushroom sauce, sad to say that I didn't like this one but my boyfriend quoted that it was "fucking amazing." Next time I'll try sausage sauce because the mushroom sauce was too sweet. The jalapeños were a bit off putting for me so I added this onto my Spanish Fly and just when I thought that sandwich couldn't get any better.. It did. We were lucky to get a window table and they served refreshing complimentary cucumber water as well! Know what you want before you order from every biscuit for every sandwich, to how you want your eggs, to every fixin because you will feel rushed when ordering. Awesome biscuits!! :) read more

This spot is absolutely TINY. Only 3 tables and a small bench inside with very little walking room. My girlfriend and I tried this place out for breakfast on a Monday morning and luckily got there 15 mins early because by opening there was already a 10-15 person line. Most seem to be college kids that do takeout which was lucky for us because we were able to get a table. There's a sign at the front that says not to sit until AFTER you've ordered so be kind and DON'T SAVE SEATS! I love the first come first serve concept. We both got the spanish fly and a couple of coffees. You can choose either soft, medium or hard for your egg and any of their biscuits though it seems like the cheddar chive is the biggest seller so we both go ours on that. The biscuits themselves were delicious and had a nice texture, the prosciutto went very well with the arugula and the spicy/tangy sauce was also very enjoyable. At $8 it's a bit pricey but well worth it when on a small getaway :) WARNING : They have a cowbell at the front door that asks for you to ring it if you enjoyed your food and service...well just know that you don't pull the string and swing it to ring the bell. There's actually a wooden spoon on the bottom of the string that you pick up and hit the cowbell with. SOMEONE was a little confused about that when she tried to exclaim her love for her breakfast but I won't say who..(she's gonna kill me ) haha. read more

I like Morsel. It is a small (really small) hole in the wall that serves delicious biscuits. Definitely a urban grungy feel to it, fits the Seattle scene well. I ordered the fast break. It comes with cheddar cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon and tomato jam. It was good, but I thought it was s little dry. I would have preferred extra jam! My sister had the biscuits and sausage gravy. It was really good! I wish I would have ordered a side of gravy to dip my fast break into. I've been here before and had the Spanish Fly and it is amazing! Definitely my favorite dish still. They also have a nice cold brew coffee that sits over night in coffee beans (Toddy). The only negatives are that it is so small and so busy. And second that I found a hair in my water. Womp womp. Solid biscuits and gravy spot. Recommend everyone to try it once! read more

You need to come here! These biscuits are the best in Seattle and it isn't even close. My favorite is the cheddar chive biscuit with tomato jam. If you go on a weekend, be prepared to wait in line at least 15 minutes but it is totally worth it! read more

The best. The best breakfast food, pre-final food, post-final food, and hangover food. Just enough hipster, more than enough delicious. You will never have a better biscuit. I was wary when it changed from the Nook to the Morsel, but fear not, it is still the best. I used to think serious biscuit would forever be my one true biscuit love, but this guy (meaning Morsel) has taken monopoly of that part of my heart. The menu is short and simple, and I've tried it all. Currently my favorite is the cheesy biscuit. I'm a foody gal, so why does a cheese biscuit take the cake? It's Beechers cheese curd (that really is all I need to say) over an awesome buttermilk biscuit, with tomato jam. Yup. Tomato Jam. One of my favorite creative creations of these guys. A bit sweet, with all the perfection of tomato. Put that on top of the cheesy biscuit, and you have a breakfast version of a pizza, in the best way you can't even imagine. Ugh, these biscuits are to die for. So perfect and flaky and just the right size. Also, the egg porn... So perfect!!! Drooling as I write this... +Holy moly, the biscuits are so bomb. Try the Spanish Fly, you won't regret it. +Perfectly filling and worth the $8. +Great hole-in-the-wall spot in U District. +Yummy selection of coffee and drinks as well. +No frills, no attitude. You'll be getting what you expect here. -Tiny little place. Seating was limited even on a weekend. -Pretty homey spot, which means a little less cleanliness. I visited Morsel on the last day of my stay at this city, and by this time I can say that this brunch cafe has a very Seattle feel. It's small, maybe 6 tables or so. On a warm Sunday morning, the sunshine seeping into the cafe makes it a perfect spot for a cup of latte with the delicious biscuits and sandwiches Morsel offers. We tried the much-reviewed Spanish Fly, with prosciutto, fried egg, arugula, and pepper aioli. I'm not sure how they made the aioli, but it brought together the flavours of all the ingredients so well. With the rich and soft biscuit, this is definitely one of the simplest yet most delicious breakfast sandwiches I ever had. We also tried the buttermilk biscuit with chocolate hazelnut butter; while I assumed the biscuit should be the same as the one for the Spanish Fly, it didn't taste as creamy and rich even with the hazelnut butter. I could've definitely eaten the entire little container of hazelnut butter myself, though. Basically Nutella but better. I also really enjoyed the latte infused with rose water; it was refreshing and just the right amount of sweet. I am 100% convinced Seattle has some of the most unique and best coffee in North America, and Morsel is definitely my favourite cafe out of the few I've visited :) read more

Loved this place! Its a hole in the wall. I seemed a little iffy about it. I'm not one to pick biscuits on a menu, but was around the area so I decided to check it out. I ordered the cheddar chive biscuit with the tomato jam. The biscuit was so warm and flaky. The tomato jam gave it a perfect complement, it was refreshing. I loved it! I had it with a mocha latte, it was nice a strong and kept me me full for a while. I had a few bites of the biscuits and gravy with sausage. Good chunks of sausage in it, and surprisingly the biscuit wasn't soggy, which I really liked. Nice flavor on the gray. I will definitely come back to this place! read more
On the further end of the ave. For some reason I was expecting a little more from this place in terms of the decor like for it to be a little bit more hip. The place gets really hot and stuffy on a warm day. The ventilation is not great and there are only a few tables. The food on the other hand is solid. I got the Spanish Fly which is a sandwich that consists of a biscuit of your choosing (I got the tomato and basil), arugula, prosciutto, and an egg. The biscuit was fluffy and the crust was nice and crumbly. It was slightly dry but the egg which I got medium helped with that. The other ingredients were fresh, arugula was green and the prosciutto was good. read more
I love breakfast food, and morsel is right up my alley. Biscuits all ways. Breakfast style, sandwich style, even dessert style! A small shop along the ave, it is always busy after opening. Just one complaint, can't you be open earlier??? There are probably 4 or 5 tables available, but turn over is fast, so you usually get a seat by the time your order is ready. Or, get a takeout? I love all the various biscuits I've had. They do it so well! My personal favorite is the cheddar chive for base, but honestly, everything is so flavorful it doesn't exactly matter. Definitely try: Biscuits and gravy - very generous sausage to gravy portion. So good!! And add an egg. Spanish fly. Love the arugula and proscuitto. If you're in a mode for sandwich Cheesy biscuit - totally like a pizza. Tomato jam is savory, not sweet! Coffee is available and orange juice is not freshly squeezed. I always stop by whenever I get to visit Seattle. So good!! read more
Pros: absolutely delicious sandwiches ( Spanish fly) along with Brenvei coffee. Quick and friendly service. Can't get enough of this place! Cons: can get a little stuffy when packed on a Saturday morning. Tip: keep an eye out for a table when waiting for your food if you're going to sit and eat. read more

Best. Biscuits. Ever!! I've come here during many Saturdays to get the absolutely most fluffy, savory, mouth-watering brunchy biscuits! Morsel is a hole in the wall kind of place down on 45th and 50th in U-District. It's really small inside, and there aren't that many seats, but PEOPLE STILL LINE UP FOR THESE BISCUITS because they are that GOOD. Expect a line if you come on a Saturday. Heck, expect a line everyday at that. The hype of standing in line does not disappoint you when you take a bite into the warm SPANISH FLY SANDWHICH. It's fried egg, manchego cheese, prosciutto, arugula and pepper aioli that will satisfy every brunchy need. Yeah, it's really that good. Not to mention they got 5-8 different kinds of jams and sauces you can put on your biscuits (honey fig jam, and salted lavender honey!!!) which makes this place even more superb. I love the staff here, super fun environment, and they are always so nice and polite even with long long lines. I don't mind waiting in line with such a fun friendly environment. If you're checking out the District farmer's market on Saturday, make sure you to stop by Morsel! read more

Walking into this quaint coffee place, you notice minimal seating which is true of most Seattle gems. The line reaffirms that this place offers good food. We got the Spanish fly and the biscuit and gravy and the most memorable thing was the gravy. Draped in the gravy the toasted muffin were moist yet crunchy. For future visits, I would definitely have the biscuit and the gravy. It's a must have!!! Another must have is the mocha with the dark ghiradelli sauce that tastes rich and has no bitter after taste. An awesome brunch place to go to on weekends and weekdays, especially to take your out of towner friends. For Seattle which is known for its coffee, this place is a must visit :) read more

I live 2 blocks from here. First came to Morsel after hearing about it from locals and walked up and waited in line. I've had everything here and you honestly cannot go wrong with what you get. I highly recommend the iced caramel latte which is insanely good. Get here early and definitely try their rotating menu of special biscuits. read more
Morsel is my number-one go-to for breakfast in the U District, especially if friends from out-of-town are visiting. The biscuits are perfect, the portions are hefty, the prices are reasonable, and the Spanish Fly is the best non-bahn-mi sandwich I think I've ever had. The only drawback is the line that tends to stretch out the door even with the new, bigger location, but that's a minor complaint and a testament to Morsel's quality. read more
