We went for lunch and despite the restaurant being empty, we didn't have the *best* service (but it wasn't bad). For it being so expensive and empty, the service could've been much better. The food was decent - the Steak Salad was the best thing we got. The grilled cheese was also pretty good. The restaurant was beautiful and super comfortable while still giving a fancy feel. read more

One of my best fine dining experiences was at Mooo! The food and service were absolutely amazing. They were able to create a personalized menu for us that said "happy birthday" for my friend. You would just note that when you make your online reservation. For appetizers, we ordered calamari and the meatballs. I didn't really care for the meatballs but the sauces that came with the calamari were sooo good. I ordered the rib eye for my entree with Yukon gold potatoes, lobster Mac n cheese, and grilled broccolini for my sides but honestly I wanted to try everything!!! lol I can't remember which steak my friend ordered. We tried the banana foster for dessert and everything was just sooo good. Our server was so nice. I felt bad asking him to order a new drink because I didn't like my first drink at all, but he was so nice about it! I guess the only thing that could be improved is the drinks because I wasn't crazy about my second one either. I can't wait to come back here. It was a 10/10!!!! read more

This restaurant is worth the hype. The Beacon Hill location is just one of three locations and I loved my experience there! My partner and I were constantly just in awe of the food and spent almost the entire time talking about how great everything was. I ordered the Dry Aged Ribeye Steak which was juicy and tender but not too fatty, which is usually my concern with ordering ribeyes. We got a fish crudo which was honestly the star of the show. It was a beautiful, unique, and adventurous flavor combination and you could really tell how fresh the fish was. Even the free bread that they gave us blew us away. It was buttery, warm, soft, and I would've definitely paid money for it. We got a Sides Tasting Flight and our favorite was the mashed potatoes and the mushrooms but overall it was amazing! The ambiance is fancy and it's perfect for an occasion. Even better, if you tell them what your occasion is in advance, they'll put it on the menu! We went to celebrate an anniversary and they made the experience very special. The price of the food is expensive and you should be prepared to break the bank but the food was worth the price. You are paying for what you get here! Overall, I would go again as many times as I could. I'm sure the other locations are also as solid as this one! read more

A Great Steak I am on the carnivore diet, so my menu is limited to steak, eggs, and butter. Craving a great steak, I asked the concierge at the Boston Park Plaza where to go for great steaks. One of the two places recommended was Moooo Beacon Hill. I walked there, got a table for one and ordered the Bone-In Ribeye. No bread, no sauce, no sides, nothing but steak. As expected, it was perfectly prepared. Juicy, and delicious! It did not need any sauces. Service was excellent and friendly. The manager visited the table as well. Ambiance was perfect for fine dining. Lighting was dark. Great aged beef! Just what I craved! read more

Wasn't impressed, unlikely going back -- we had high expectations with the good reviews and the supposingly best beef Wellington in the area - Mooo didn't meet the exceptions. We ordered wagyu dumplings, bone marrow, beaf Wellington, ribeye cap steak, etc. The steak was below average in our view and almost had a non-fresh feeling to me; beaf Wellington was overcooked, couldn't taste/feel pate and duxelles but only the oily mixed texture with the puff pastry; bone marrow also had no taste but oily. read more

10/10 for everything. We chose the Beacon Hill location because it is the original location and attracts a different crowd than the Back Bay Mooo. We sat at the bar and were greeted by a woman who had clearly worked there for a very long time. Staff retainment is always a good sign. The wine selection was small but the bartender had good knowledge to help guide my decision. The warm buttery rolls are something out of this world. Unfortunately they only come with 4 (I could eat all 4 myself). We got the Wagyu Cap and Sirloin and for dessert got espresso martinis and the milk and cookies. So amazing - all of it. I am a big steak girl and usually feel sick after eating steak but didn't feel sick after the one we had at Mooo. The espresso martini's are one of the best I've had in Boston. You can taste the real espresso. I will be coming back and bringing friends. read more

Came here because they use Creekstone high quality premium beef which is halal. It's a farm located in Kansas. I love Creekstone steaks. I had higher expectations. Lobster Mac and cheese was below average. I guess they can learn from the Capital Grille one. The steak was average. The service was pleasant. The area is so nice to take a walk after dinner. read more

This is my new fav place in Boston. Srsly We sat at the bar but the dining room looked warm and inviting The drinks are fantastic and our bar tender/ server was simply delightful. 6 stars! This was excellent. Great service from a friendly & funny waiter. Really nice ambience. And the food was to die for. Small beer selection but they had one I liked so happy. The rolls & butter are great. The steak, sauce, & potatoes are superb. We didn't get dessert because we were beyond stuffed on the rolls & dinner. read more

Great steakhouse. - excellent selection of wine - tried a few cabs and the 14 Margaux was delicious! - great steak overall; tried the wagyu american - others had pieces that were a bit "over"cooked; they ordered medium but got medium-well - truffle fries were delicious - shrimp were extremely large - wagyu dumplings are a MUST - dessert sorbet was a hard pass; where was the ice cream? Overall, definitely a "hip" steakhouse for Boston. Reasonable prices, kind staff, and cute booths. read more

Went this afternoon with some friends last minute before the Celtics game and everything was amazing. From the warm rolls to the great service at the bar (shout out to Paul and his Old N Cranky Old Fashioned - he was far from Old and Cranky!) to the dry aged ribeye. We will be back! read more

I was invited to join for dinner. I just realized now that they close at 9 but allowed a dinner reservation for 8. Anyway, within five minutes of sitting down we ordered over a grand in wine. It was great, the service was impeccable, however, as we are adding more wine and and food, we were sort of hurried along to finish ordering food because the kitchen was closing. I'm going to sound entitled, but when someone (not me) was ready to drop a few grand for dinner and waistaff was heavily compensated for their time, I don't think that was really appropriate to be told to (nicely and professionally) that the kitchen would be closing. But the food. I literally almost cried with the first spoon of the lobster bisque. The wagyu dumplings were good. I wouldn't say excellent, but they were pretty good. The carpaccio was excellent. I had the beef Wellington which was excellent. I also tried the Japanese wagyu and if you are serious about beef, you will try it. The sides flight was delicious. I can't say anything negative about the food or wine. It was top notch along with the service. They did bring us three deserts. Bananas foster, creme brulee and the lemongrass blueberry tart. The banana was delicious, but go for one of the other desserts instead. They are sharing size too which was unexpected. Because of my situation, this was definitely a once Ina lifetime for me. I can't fathom spending a few grand on dinner but I wills at, I am so thankful for.rhw opportunity and it was well worth it. read more

Beautiful restaurant inside the very toney Beacon XV Hotel seems to also double as a popular bar for well heeled locals. We had super cocktails made by real pros who treated us like locals too. It's a steak house so we did the classic chopped salad, steak frites with a side of grilled broccolini, and beef Wellington (which appears to be making a comeback on high end menus). The prime strip was perfectly cooked and served with marrow butter. The Wellie was, well, disappointing. The filet was a perfect mid rare and the duxelle was fine but the phyllo crust sat on the steak like a wet rag. I thought the sauce was too salty and acrid. At $79, this was an expensive miss. In general the prices here reflect a growing sense that there is no limit on what they will charge and some will pay. $22 cocktails, $52 for steak and fries and $20 for chocolate cake (very delicious multi-layer served with crème anglaise)...oh and $12 for bottled still water (an undisclosed surprise) All in all it was good but way, way over priced given a major technical mistake on the soggy crusted Wellington and the fact that nothing else was far enough above the expected to justify the price read more

Perfect steakhouse for any special occasion. Service was impeccable! The waitstaff were polite, professional and attentive without being overbearing. The food also came out at a reasonable time and everything tasted delicious. Here's my review on the food: Complimentary Bread Soft warm rolls that tasted great with the butter on the side. They sprinkle sea salt on the top which made them a bit too salty at times, but it was easy to take off and it certainly didn't stop us from getting another serving of bread. Australian Ribeye ($44) Solid cut of 14 oz ribeye that's 100% grass-fed! It had just the right ratio of fat and lean meat. The steak was perfectly seared with a peppery crust. They served a side of herb and marrow butter with it which made the the steak taste rich and buttery. Side Flight (small for $28) This first restaurant I've been to that offer a flight of sides. Normally each side is about $10 each so getting 4 for $28 was a fantastic deal. The truffled parmesan fries were my favorite, followed by creamed spinach, sweet Georgia corn succotash, and whipped potatoes. read more

Tried to go here with a group of 4 around 7pm. Lots of tables and bar seats open. Asked if we could sit in either area. Told rudely no. I asked if we could sit in one of the open seats/tables. Told again rudely no. Wow. Guess they don't need the business. It wouldn't have been such an ordeal if they hadn't had such a rude tone/attitude about it. There's lots of options. No need to waste time here. read more

Fantastic service, fantastic food, fantastic atmosphere. I celebrated my birthday here and it is one of the best steakhouses I have ever been to. The Japanese Wagyu was tender and juicy - it has never been easier to cut into a piece of steak. I loved the lobster Mac and cheese which was an additional side we had to compliment the "side flight". We could have done without the fries as all of the other aspects of the meal really outshined the fries. I would come back in a heart beat! read more

We really enjoyed our anniversary brunch here. Our server, Juan, was very polite and attentive and surprised us with a yummy complimentary dessert at the end. The food was all good portion sizes. I had the breakfast sandwich and didn't love the tomato aioli that was on it, it had a little bit of sweetness to it that caught me off guard. Overall highly recommend if you want a nice, upscale dining experience for a special occasion. read more

Not quite sure where to begin. Mooo has been mentioned to me on many occasions as a top steak house in the greater Boston area. Coming from California, where I was first told to make a stop here, I made it a goal to try out top steakhouses in the Boston area. After trying out some lovely establishments, I finally made my way to Mooo. I'm grateful I did. This steakhouse is a cut above (pardon the pun) just about every establishment I have frequented throughout the greater US and Western Europe. The staff at Mooo is just about the most attentive, genuine and courteous folk I have encountered anywhere. Brian is a light that keeps this establishment in motion. He frequently works at the bar (where I prefer to dine), and offers the same level of professionalism I experienced at Noma. I am not joking in the slightest. His breadth and depth of understanding as to cut recommendations is unparalleled, alongside his knowledge of just about any cocktail/wine pairing you can think of. Paul, another staff member alongside Brian, has an arsenal of bourbon and wine knowledge that rivals that of any connoisseur. The steaks, sourced selectively from various global and regional farmers, are out of this world. You can't go wrong. I dare you to try. If you are a local or find yourself in Boston, block of two hours of your time, take a seat at Mooo and you won't regret or forget it. Thank you Mooo for making experiences unforgettable. read more

I took my boyfriend to Mooo for his birthday last weekend because he was jonesing for Beef Wellington, and I heard Mooo had the best. We were given a lovely large table and menus that said Happy Birthday on them which was a sweet touch. We began with some cocktails, bread, and the calamari. The cocktails were nice and strong and the bread was absolutely stellar. We also enjoyed the crispy calamari and dish was a good size. We both gave in and ordered the Wellington for dinner. It was out of this world, 5 stars, completely amazing. The foie gras was an incredible touch. We ordered a side of the Heirloom Squash Brûlée but were too full to eat it. I did have a bit though, and wow. Such a brilliant idea. We ended the night with cappucinos and some birthday truffles on the house. Overall the visit to Mooo was wonderful, and aside from some slow service from our waiter, everything else was 10/10! read more

I had the dry-aged ribeye at Mooo and it was cooked perfectly medium-rare throughout. In case the glorious slab of meat isn't already fatty enough, it comes with a side of herb & compound butter. Slather it on and have your steak elevated to the next level. The best steakhouse in Boston, IMO! Pro Tip: Skip ordering additional side dishes. Instead, indulge yourself in their complimentary brioche bread! read more

It's nice to know the chefs from Friendlies landed on their feet after their closure. A $70 steak with no flavor or artisan appeal making it the last place I would stop for a snack. It would be in a better place if a Friendlies opened because at least they would have good dessert after. read more

Last time I went to Mooo was probably 20 years ago, when they first opened. Great dinner and night. Very nice staff, vibe is hip and cool, got the beef dumplings which were excellent, then we split a sliced aged Porterhouse, carrots and onion rings. Food was very good. The steak was very good, but not as good as some of the other high steak houses. But definetly a great place and a must go. But if you want the best steak in town and that is only goal, there are other options. I enjoyed it. read more

Best dinner we had in Boston! Couldn't get a reservation so we took a chance and hoped for the bar which was a success. The bartender was great. Their bread is to die for yeasty soft and delicious. Started with a wedge salad - fresh and blue cheese goodness. I had the filet with creamed spinach and daughter had the crisp chicken Milanese - normally i would never get this dish at a steakhouse when you know the steaks will be the star of the show but I just say this was STELLAR. Also had a Brandt ribeye medium with char. 5.0 with red wine sauce. Wow. Bottle of Arrow wood cab.. 89.00 nice, their wine list is for the rich.. this one is just fine.
