I was invited to join for dinner. I just realized now that they close at 9 but allowed a dinner reservation for 8. Anyway, within five minutes of sitting down we ordered over a grand in wine. It was great, the service was impeccable, however, as we are adding more wine and and food, we were sort of hurried along to finish ordering food because the kitchen was closing. I'm going to sound entitled, but when someone (not me) was ready to drop a few grand for dinner and waistaff was heavily compensated for their time, I don't think that was really appropriate to be told to (nicely and professionally) that the kitchen would be closing. But the food. I literally almost cried with the first spoon of the lobster bisque. The wagyu dumplings were good. I wouldn't say excellent, but they were pretty good. The carpaccio was excellent. I had the beef Wellington which was excellent. I also tried the Japanese wagyu and if you are serious about beef, you will try it. The sides flight was delicious. I can't say anything negative about the food or wine. It was top notch along with the service. They did bring us three deserts. Bananas foster, creme brulee and the lemongrass blueberry tart. The banana was delicious, but go for one of the other desserts instead. They are sharing size too which was unexpected. Because of my situation, this was definitely a once Ina lifetime for me. Last time I went to Mooo was probably 20 years ago, when they first opened. Great dinner and night. Very nice staff, vibe is hip and cool, got the beef dumplings which were excellent, then we split a sliced aged Porterhouse, carrots and onion rings. Food was very good. The steak was very good, but not as good as some of the other high steak houses. But definetly a great place and a must go. But if you want the best steak in town and that is only goal, there are other options. I enjoyed it. read more

It's nice to know the chefs from Friendlies landed on their feet after their closure. A $70 steak with no flavor or artisan appeal making it the last place I would stop for a snack. It would be in a better place if a Friendlies opened because at least they would have good dessert after. read more

The food also came out at a reasonable time and everything tasted delicious. Here's my review on the food: Complimentary Bread Soft warm rolls that tasted great with the butter on the side. They sprinkle sea salt on the top which made them a bit too salty at times, but it was easy to take off and it certainly didn't stop us from getting another serving of bread. Australian Ribeye ($44) Solid cut of 14 oz ribeye that's 100% grass-fed! It had just the right ratio of fat and lean meat. The steak was perfectly seared with a peppery crust. They served a side of herb and marrow butter with it which made the the steak taste rich and buttery. Side Flight (small for $28) This first restaurant I've been to that offer a flight of sides. Normally each side is about $10 each so getting 4 for $28 was a fantastic deal. The truffled parmesan fries were my favorite, followed by creamed spinach, sweet Georgia corn succotash, and whipped potatoes. read more

This steakhouse is a cut above (pardon the pun) just about every establishment I have frequented throughout the greater US and Western Europe. The staff at Mooo is just about the most attentive, genuine and courteous folk I have encountered anywhere. Brian is a light that keeps this establishment in motion. He frequently works at the bar (where I prefer to dine), and offers the same level of professionalism I experienced at Noma. I am not joking in the slightest. His breadth and depth of understanding as to cut recommendations is unparalleled, alongside his knowledge of just about any cocktail/wine pairing you can think of. Paul, another staff member alongside Brian, has an arsenal of bourbon and wine knowledge that rivals that of any connoisseur. The steaks, sourced selectively from various global and regional farmers, are out of this world. You can't go wrong. I dare you to try. I took my boyfriend to Mooo for his birthday last weekend because he was jonesing for Beef Wellington, and I heard Mooo had the best. We were given a lovely large table and menus that said Happy Birthday on them which was a sweet touch. We began with some cocktails, bread, and the calamari. The cocktails were nice and strong and the bread was absolutely stellar. We also enjoyed the crispy calamari and dish was a good size. We both gave in and ordered the Wellington for dinner. It was out of this world, 5 stars, completely amazing. The foie gras was an incredible touch. We ordered a side of the Heirloom Squash Brûlée but were too full to eat it. I did have a bit though, and wow. Such a brilliant idea. We ended the night with cappucinos and some birthday truffles on the house. Given the name of the place, I wasn't sure if it was a milkshake bar or a steakhouse. Luckily it was the later. What a wonderful experience. The steaks were beautifully cooked. They had a great selection of sides sure to please all of your party. The service was just right. You will find a nice wine list and capable mixologists to whip up a tasty cocktail of your choice. We had a lovely dinner at Mooo tonight. We are visiting Boston for the first time and lucked out at Mooo. (We live in Los Angeles and have dined all over including in New York, London, SanFrancisco, New Orleans, Etc. ) The main dining room is well appointed with sufficient spacing between tables to allow you privacy and comfort. The room is fairly dark and it was a nice touch that they noticed my husband using his phone light to read the menu so they brought a little table light to us. The service is excellent from the assistants who held our bottle water off table and chilled and filled glasses as we were ready to the waiter Gabriel to the management who checked in on us to be sure it was all perfect. The food is very good with wonderful presentation. We shared the 24 oz porterhouse which was prepared just as we requested. They did the splits for us so we did not have to fumble around with that. The drinks were well made as well. While the desserts looked great we were too stuffed to try any. We noticed a few other things that impressed. They decanted the wine for guests who ordered a full bottle - a lost art at most restaurants who just want to rush you out. The service was top notch. The tuna tartare was an absolute taste explosion. Perhaps TMI, but as a boomer, I judge a restaurant on whether I could have made a better meal at home. I used to make steaks on my grill - Charred on the outside and medium rare inside. After selling my house, my attempts at making a steak in my apartment in a cast iron skillet resulted in a smoke out. My attempts to use the oven broiler resulted in the same results I experienced at Moo for my $99 Ribeye - Somewhat grayish on the outside and served lukewarm. They served butter to put on the steak after it was served. Put it on before cooking to get the char! If you wanted a cheap piece of steak, you got a London Broil and marinated the poop out of it. A step up was sirloin and again, you marinated the poop out of it. There was a plethora of $60 sirloins on the menu. And no NY Strip. Is it because of Boston's feeling of inferiority or because Moo doesn't know how to char steak? The sides were mediocre at best. The creamed spinach was slimy. The mushrooms were fine, but by the time you took advantage of them, they were cold. And French fires or tater tots versus a non-existent baked potato? Give me a break. One last note, Moo must have used shaved ice to chill a martini, because my three were watered down. I would have given a "2" but expected an experience for several my hundred $$$. read more

My top choice for a steakhouse on the east coast (maybe tied for first with Berns in Tampa.) Moo is five stars from start to finish. From their front of house staff, to our incredible waiter and all of his recommendations Moo was a perfect anniversary dinner location. Our favorites were the steak tartare, Exotic Mushrooms from the side flight (highly recommended) as well as the Tenderloin of Beef Wellington and Creekstone Farms Bone-in Dry Aged Ribeye which we split. If we could only order one entree next time we would both choose the Wellington! We also opted for the Bone Marrow which was delicious. Their Crème Brûlée was one of the larger portioned I've ever been served and perfect for sharing. My mouth watered when I saw the skillet of Parker House Rolls arrive at the table. The sweet bread resembled challah and was topped with flakes of sea salt. I sipped my glass of 2019 Averean Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley in Oregon, while chewing on a roll or two and eagerly awaiting my steak. The 8-ounce, Greater Omaha Filet Mignon from Nebraska was flavorful and cooked to perfection. It was served with an herb and marrow butter on the side, which was actually heavenly on the rolls as well. Lastly, we ordered the Mooo.... Side Flight. I simply LOVED this concept! It is always so hard to choose a side from a list of intriguing options, so being able to sample smaller portions of each was a fun way to try more than one. The whipped Yukon gold potatoes were creamy and decadent; we replaced the creamed spinach with the healthier sautéed spinach and robust garlic; the truffled, Parmesan fries were thin, crisp, and full of truffle essence; and the exotic mushrooms were tastefully seasoned with a generous amount of garlic and herbs. Best meal we had during our Boston trip by far! Our evening started out with the hosts greeting us, and wishing us a happy anniversary. Once we sat down, our first pleasant surprise was happy anniversary being printed on the menus! The waitstaff is fantastically trained and very attentive. We ordered an Out of Office to drink, which was both delicious and appropriately named. Parker rolls showed up before our menu and were hot, fluffy, buttery, and had a hint of sea salt. In a word, perfect. We each ordered an 8 oz filet mignon, one medium well, the other well done. Each was cooked to perfection and melted on our mouths along with the addition of the garlic butter. The side of whipped potatoes was smooth goodness. Finally, the chocolate cake had a rich and vibrant flavor. Bonus points for the restaurant adding happy anniversary on the cake plate. It was amazing For entrees my wife ordered the shrimp pasta and I got the dry aged bone-in steak. The pasta was heavy and rich, but it was so good. It came with 8 massive shrimp and my wife nearly made a dent. My steak was amazing. I didn't order any sauces for it, but the compound butter that's served with the steak was all I needed. For sides we ordered the tater tots with truffle aioli and the brussel sprouts. Both sides were amazing. I was bummed we were so full because there were a few items I wanted to try for dessert. Next time, oh next time. Besides the food, service was top notch where our server, support staff, and the manager were all very attentive and personable. I'm not sure if it's because I eat a lot in Miami and other cities that take good seriously but for me this restaurant was just ok. Initially our server seemed very disconnected as if he hates being there so I try to look past that since anyone can have a bad day. For our first course we decided on the japanese wagyu beef dumplings and they were slightly undercooked as if they were not steamed all the way. The flavor of the beef was "different" but not in the typical way wagyu has but in an off putting way. I decided to have the Branzino and that was disappointing. Little to no seasoning or flavor and was a bit overcooked. The brown butter meunière was not a benefit to the dish at all. The wine that was used was not fully cooked though and showed up as a bitter taste. The best item on my plate was the roasted exotic mushrooms! Those were 10 out of 10! So much flavor there! My boyfriend had the australian wagyu sirloin and he enjoyed it. Unfortunately the Mac & cheese did not have the fate. The roux was very grainy and reminded us of instant Mac & cheese. The best thing we described it as was Annie's Mac & cheese lol Overall it was ok but for the price and service I am certain that there are better options to spend my money on. read more
