If you're coming here for a steak, you're in the right place. I've ordered steak here twice and both times the steak itself was genuinely excellent, well-seasoned, cooked to temperature, the kind of result that justifies the price tag. No complaints there. The trouble starts the moment you venture beyond the cut of beef. On both steak visits, the sides disappointed. The Yukon gold potatoes tasted off, hard to put a finger on exactly why, but something wasn't right. The tater tots were fine, though really only worth ordering for the truffle aioli that came with them; the tots themselves were forgettable. Neither side felt like it belonged on a steakhouse menu at this price point. I also came in once hoping a Bolognese would impress and it didn't. The pasta was cooked so al dente it crossed the line into underdone, and the sauce had the consistency of a broth rather than the rich, clinging ragu you'd hope for. It felt like a dish from a completely different kitchen. The steaks here are legitimately good, and if that's all you're after, you'll leave happy. But a great meal is more than its centerpiece, and everything surrounding the steak feels like an afterthought. Come for the beef, manage your expectations for everything else. read more

Made a rez on Open Table and called to request a bar seat cause we wanted to watch the Celtics playoffs. They said the seats were reserved but check-in was smooth and we got sat a few mins ahead of our rez time. Our bartender came over right away and was friendly. We ordered a couple of cocktails and they were tasty - old fashioned and devil's advocate. Overall, service was spectacular- we had several people check in on us throughout our dinner. We ordered our food and they brought out bread to start - the Parker House rolls at Mooo are the best in Boston. Dinner came and everything was delicious- I ordered the salmon plate and my hubby the lobster. We shared sides of carrots, mushrooms, and mashed potatoes. Everything was super tasty per usual. I asked for my salmon well done and that it was - maybe even a little more than I expected but it didn't detract from my experience. The ambiance is a more relaxed - regulars vibe. Seating starts right when you walk in - there isn't really a grand entrance so to speak. I am comparing to Mooo Fort Point BTW. The bar only had one TV and Red Sox game was on. Mooo Beacon Hill is perfect for those special date nights. From the moment we walked in, we felt really taken care of by the staff. We ordered the tuna tartare as a starter to share and they divided it up for us in advance so it's easier to eat which we appreciated. For the mains, we ordered the wagyu cap which had the perfect balance or meat and fat, and the bone in ribeye which was on the fattier side. Both cuts of meat were cooked perfectly to a medium rare and they had so much flavor. As a side, we had to eat somewhat healthy so we ordered the garlic spinach which provided a break from the meats. For dessert, we opted for the crème brûlée. I was shocked by the size which could easily feed 3-4! Definitely worth it. read more

From the perfectly crafted drinks at the bar, to a truly indulgent, spectacular dinner, culminating with dessert, perfection, and a beautiful dessert wine. Everything was absolutely perfect. We indulged with the American Wagyu cap steak, with a trio of sides, plus tots and onion rings. We started with wagyu dumplings, bone marrow, shrimp, cocktail, and calamari. Ended with crème brûlée, an amazing updated take on bananas foster, cookies and milk, and some beautiful bourbons and wines. We had dinner at this restaurant through in room dining in our hotel room. The food was so freaking delicious, we wished that we had dined in the dining room, for maximum freshness. That doesn't mean that our food wasn't fresh, because it absolutely was, but I would have loved to get that calamari piping hot and super crisp. The highlights were absolutely the bread service and the carpaccio. We ordered steak frites and the steak was cooked perfectly, even though it was a thinner cut. The butter that came with the steak, served in a ceramic that made it look like bone marrow, was out of control delicious and I used it with my rolls and my steak and my fries. We also had breakfast in the restaurant a few days. The service is impeccable, along with the incredible food. The breakfast selection was really nice and everything we ordered was delicious. We came here for a special occasion and it did not disappoint. The service was fantastic. We were seated immediately, waters constantly refilled, and food came out pretty quickly. For food, we got the prime ribeye with lobster, sea salt fries, and steamed asparagus. It was the perfect amount of food for the two us to leave stuffed after coming in hungry. The best dish of the night for us was the lobster, which was perfectly tender, well cooked, and delicious. Excellent experience at Mooo....Beacon Hill recently. We were in town for the weekend, meeting up with a cousin from Germany. Of all the steakhouses I was searching for online, this one really stood out to me, and I finally was able to get a reservation at a time that worked out for us (the day before). Beautiful inside, amazing service and even better food. All of our steaks were done perfectly and all the sides were great as well. We went with the side combo of mashed potatoes, mushrooms, spinach and truffle tries. Plenty for the three of us, with some left over. Wine bottle list is a bit on the higher priced end, but so much to choose from. As full as we were, we still insisted on getting the Creme Brulee. Wonderful! read more

We were here to celebrate our anniversary and it was a pretty great experience. I'd definitely recommend making reservations. They also gave us a personalized menu which was sweet. FOOD: + Complimentary bread (4/5): very fluffy! I was a big fan of the bits of flaky salt on the bread. + Lobster bisque (4/5): They were kind to split the order into two portions! We got our own small pastry because of it (vs. it being in one large bowl with one large pastry) which was super cute lol. + Prime bone-in dry aged ribeye (4/5): The meat was tender and a perfect medium rare! They also cut this into smaller pieces for us to make it easier for sharing. I think it was definitely a lot for the two of us but I'd probably order a diff steak in the future. + East coast oysters (4/5): Also delicious! We ordered two to share because Mooo does not have large format porterhouse or tomahawk on the menu. I always order steak tartare at a steakhouse and Mooo's was competitive with its competitors. The bisque while great is not poured at table. The drinks were excellent and the bread is complementary and fresh. Importantly, the service is fantastic- attentive, respectful, and kind to guests. Had to try Moo after seeing it ranked number 1 on Beli. The reviews were very compelling so I went in with high standards. The complimentary bread was soft and yummy but didn't stand out to me. We got the bing bing mocktail which was delicious. It was a nice, refreshing fruity drink and I was tempted to order another. For food, my friend and I split a ribeye, the Moo flight, wagyu dumplings, and the mac and cheese. The food was good but I think I went in with too high hopes. The cost wasn't too bad in my opinion, we got a lot of food for a decent price. Neither of us drink so that may have also been why haha. They did also give us complimentary chocolate truffles since we were celebrating a birthday; the plate had a personalized HBD message that was a very sweet touch! It's a great establishment but l think Boston has other great steakhouses. Moooove onto the next place. What a trash experience we had there for breakfast today. We got coffee earlier somewhere else and they came in reusable cups. No outside food or drink. Completely understandable. The hostess said she would hold them for us at the desk. We finish breakfast and she says she threw them out. Greeeaaattttt. The food was just okay. The pancakes were your diner pancakes and nothing special. Actually a little burnt on the bottom as well but $20 for them. The part that really gets my goat of the whole experience is the restaurant had about as many staff there as customers and it was still painfully slow to order and get your order. Went through a number of recommendations for a good steakhouse in Boston, came across this place which was highly referred for good steaks and great service. Grabbed a seat and was greeted by a very unwelcoming bartender setting the standard for what would be very mediocre service for the night. Interesting cocktail menu which I appreciated the brand of alcohol being listed, though they are a touch more expensive than I feel is worth it. A $24 cocktail is a bit overvalued compared to the other nice cocktails you'll find in the city. I went with the old n cranky which was basically an old fashioned riff, very well done, would recommend this. Ordered the prime ribeye, asked for a half order on sides, but that's not something they would do, bit disappointing as many steak houses will do that, so I had to settle for one side and with the charred carrots. The bartender asked if I wanted bread, and I inquired if that was something included which she seemed repulsed I would ask such a question and gave me an unclear answer, I went ahead and asked for the bread anyway. The bread was phenomenal, definitely glad I got that and it was in fact included. I believe the bread was parker house rolls, really delicious, buttery, soft, great texture. Fitting given this is a block away from where they were invented. The ribeye was cooked well, though on the leaner side. Not much fat marbling here. For this price, was expecting a higher quality cut of beef. It doesn't quite compare to other steaks at other steak houses I've had for the same price. It came with a compound butter that was really great and helped recover some of the lost flavor here. The side of carrots was the most underwhelming part of this meal. These supposed heirloom carrots looked like any ordinary orange carrot you'd find at the grocery store. This $15 side came with 2 whole carrots. The "char" was a little bit of black on one side of these carrots. They did not taste charred at all, I was expecting them to be charbroiled, but there was no flavor of char here at all, they didn't even taste roasted or browned in any capacity. There was a simple honey glaze on it and the texture was terrible. It was so soft and mushy, way overcooked. This tasted like something you'd serve at a school cafeteria or nursing home, not something in a nice steakhouse. The bartender never checked back on me after taking my order. I never spoke to her again until I asked for the check. Couldn't order another drink. Never checked if the food was good or the steak was cooked properly. For a place that people rave on the service, it seems the bar is not included in that, and that was quite disappointing. If you love steak and incredible service, Mooo... Beacon Hill is NOT to be overlooked! Yes, it's attached to a hotel (XV Beacon) and in an "upscale" area. The food and the service brings us back to Mooo... again and again when we are in Boston! We stayed at the XV Beacon, but not the reason we dined at Mooo. Hubs loves a delicious, tender, juicy steak and that's what this restaurant has! The tables are spread apart nicely that we felt like we were enjoying our own meal, not cozying up with others. The seating was elegant and the staff very attentive. We started our meal with sirloin carpaccio and Wagyu beef dumplings. The carpaccio was sliced delicately thin and well flavored with mushrooms. Our favorite was the Wagyu beef dumplings with a nice tender wrapping and a light, flavorful broth. I ordered the Tenderloin of Beef Wellington and hubs had the Prime New York. Both came out cooked to perfection. My Wellington melted in my mouth! Hubs' New York was well-seared and seasoned. We added a side of exotic mushrooms and the Tater-tot potatoes. Everything was a generous portion and complimented each other well. Nothing was overly salty or over seasoned. We finished our luxurious meal with crème brûlée. There was plenty of leftovers and we took that up our room. We also had some complementary s'mores drops that their chef made - little "kiss" drops with graham cracker bottom and marshmallow top enrobed in chocolate. They were really good! TL;DR: You're coming to 'Mooo....' you're spending money! Yet - you get not only a phenomenal steak dinner, but overall experience. The food, drinks, atmosphere , and staff were all S-Tier. A super-special occasion (new job & move to Chicago) called for a special meal. For three people, I dropped $800, after tax and tip, and I don't regret it one bit. Prices... I usually wail against a bowl of broccolini costing $15 for $3 of ingredients. However, I get that if people are willing to spend $100 on a steak, might as well. Still, I can confidently say "you get what you pay for," and this is after I dropped more money for a meal than ever before. Tuna Tartare - The fish was of the highest imaginable quality. The miso sauce wasn't overdone, and fully allowed the fish to shine on its own. The cucumber and crisp wonton added a lovely element of crunch and freshness, and the cilantro added flavor too. Seabass Ceviche - The fish is also top-notch, and the sauce and accompaniments are next level. It had some tang from the Citrus Vinaigrette. I loved that it wasn't straight acid, but had flavor! This is in part due to the chilis adding heat, the apple adding a little sweetness, and fennel for freshness. Now, the MEAT of the review: First things first: the plates were hot! Too many places skip this step - and when hot food hits a cold plate, you are left with cold food. Some breakfast places are guilty of this when it comes to potatoes. A5 Japanese Wagyu - I had reason to celebrate, and I would always be wondering if I never had it. I must be honest, it's not that I didn't like it, but rather I didn't understand it. It was cooked to the perfect requested medium rare, seasoned well, and was superbly marbled. Rather than something that was entirely melted in your mouth, some parts melted, and others needed just a little work. This is not to say it was chewy, but each piece needed a few extra seconds. Maybe this is by design, so it doesn't vanish like an hors d'œuvre? Like I said, something I do not understand. Now, when the server asked how we were enjoying everything, I expressed to her the same sentiment. She asked if I would like to get something else instead. I declined, but the fact that this was possible when I was halfway through a $200 steak was beyond anything I could have ever hoped for. So, no stars lost! I also had the opportunity to nibble on the American Wagyu, and the Filet Mignon. (Thank you, Mom & Dad). The American Wagyu - What I expected from the Japanese. Also seasoned and cooked to perfection, and 110% melt in your mouth. Given, this isn't all that healthy, but unless you occasionally light a cigar with a $100 bill, this isn't an everyday splurge or treat. If you are a fan of leaner cuts, the Filet Mignon was fantastic. You guessed it, also cooked, and seasoned to perfection. Where this one shined was the pure flavor. I've had far too many Filet Mignons that didn't really taste like anything. With this one, one could taste the meat! Also, while being a much learner cut than the American Wagyu, this too was insanely tender and could be cut with a fork! Let me touch on the others quick (character limits - "gah!") Market Greens (mushrooms) - complimentary from the kitchen - Thoroughly enjoyable. The Shallot Dijon Vinaigrette takes the cake in elevating the mushrooms to next level! Grilled Broccolini - This chili and garlic are a masterclass is subtly. They're 100% there, and aren't a cameo or an extra, but more like a recurring character contained within one episode. Some pieces weren't quite as tender as others (stems), but this may be by design. Fries - Fresh, well-seasoned, no complaints. Simplicity done well. Pigs CAN Fly - A lovely and approachable drink, even if [rye] whiskey isn't your thing. The whiskey notes were there but not overpowering, the sweetness was light, and it was some tart and savory notes as well. A splendid, balanced cocktail for whiskey and non-whiskey lovers alike. Bananas Foster- Thoroughly enjoyable even though I. not a fan of bananas. Sauce was a delight with some booziness if I recall correctly. A great combination of textures, flavors, and even temperatures. Crème Brûlée - Some of the best I've had anywhere! There are two simple changes that make this one so spectacular! One, it is wider instead of taller (more of that amazing 'burnt' cream!). Two, the sweetness of the custard is gentle, and didn't feel like eating straight sugar. The service: some of the best I've ever experienced. They did everything in their power so we'd have a fantastic experience. Even including the host helping my mother find the elevator to the restroom and waiting outside to take her back. The vibe is appropriate for a restaurant of this caliber. We were greeted by staff upon entering and brought to our table after we told them about our reservation. The server was extremely informative and helpful about everything on the menu. Apparently the chef curates the menu everyday so it's slightly different. The selection of sauces for the different cuts were divine. Each elevating the flavor for each bite but adding to the total cost. The price is about average compared to other steakhouses around the area. Nothing extremely special aside from their sauces that you can add on for a price but still very tasty without it. Inside was dimly lights and tables close to each other that you can probably feel the next table breathing behind your back. The entire meal and service were excellent. My only input is our group of 6 got a table that were 2 tables pushed together, while a couple were seated at large round table that would have accommodated our party AND allowed us to be more conversational. If I was a walk-in, no problem. However, I made this reservation 3 months in advance. We did not have a great experience here. Despite the reviews of this place being very good, I cannot honestly recommend it. So when we walked in we had empty mostly coffees we had gotten early in the morning in reusable cups. (Mostly empty because the ice had melted after we finished them and that's what was left in the cups). The hostess mentioned they didnt allow in outside drink (even though they were mostly empty) fine, we get it, but we told her we didn't want to throw the cups away so she agreed to keep them up front. We sat down to eat and got water right away, however, the service went downhill from there. It took a while to get coffee, place our order, and then get subsequent coffee refills. The actual food was okay. The pancakes came out overcooked and the mooo omelet was just average. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and seasoned though and a stand out amongst everything else. There is a built in 20% gratuity and i felt like it showed. There didn't seem to be the biggest emphasis on it. Then as we were leaving we stopped back by to get our cups we had left with the hostess only for her to tell us she never heard us say we wanted to keep them (or agree to hold them) and she had thrown them away. The steak was honestly the best I've ever had -- perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. I would come back for the food alone. The environment, though, was very male-dominated. It was mostly older men hanging out at the bar, talking with each other, with no real female presence besides the bartender. As a woman eating by myself, the vibe just felt off and a little weird. This is a steakhouse called Mooo.... what's a better name?! It's an exquisite and upscale spot in Boston that's great for a special occasion. The boyfriend brought me here for my birthday dinner and I was immediately surprised by the personalized menu they had for me with my name on it. They even held onto it to let you take it home afterwards, but we sadly forgot when we left. To start off, we got some complimentary bread and butter. The butter has a little mooo sign, which was cute. This was decent, nothing too special but nice to have while waiting for your meal to start. For cocktails, I had the Pigs Can Fly ($20), which was a bit too tart for me. The boyfriend had the Old and Cranky ($22), which was essentially an Old Fashioned. Next was the starters and I had the Maine Lobster Bisque ($24) while he had the Classic Caesar Salad ($20). We also shared the Prime Dry-Aged Meatballs ($24). The lobster bisque was amazing with chunks of lobster inside as well. Definitely gotta have some of that seafood when in Boston. The salad was also a huge plate with huge, crunchy croutons. The meatballs were a pass though as it wasn't anything too special and came with 3 pieces. I was already starting to get full already, but I was excited for the main course. I got the Tenderloin of Beef Wellington ($77) while he got the Creekstone Farms Prime Bone-in Dry Aged Ribeye ($95). As a fan of Gordon Ramsey and having had his infamous beef wellington, I was impressed by Jamie Mammano's version of this English dish. The layers between the pastry is beautifully done with the foie gras, spinach, mushroom duxelle, and filet mignon. These layers win this for me over Gordon Ramsey's and that says a lot. I only wish I could've enjoyed this dish more when I was reaching my stomach capacity. We also got a side of Onion Rings ($16), which was perfectly soft inside contrasting the crunchy panko and parmesan crust. Of course we had to finish off with a Classic Creme Brulee ($18). This dessert came out with a birthday writing on it as well, which was nice. It was quite a huge dish, so perfect to share with two or more. Premium meat emporium in Beacon Hill. Got there a few minutes early before our reservation time and we were promptly seated. Menus were presented and water glasses filled, and then...nothing. It took what seemed to be an inordinate amount of time before our waiter finally came over to see if we wanted any drinks, which we did. Drink order was placed, and again, it seemed like it took forever for the drinks to make their way to our table. The drinks did arrive, finally, and we placed our food order. Seabass Ceviche and Maine Lobster Bisque as appetizers, the Filet Mignon and Prime Ribeye as our mains, and Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Maine Lobster Mac & Cheese as our sides. Food was on point, absolutely no complaints. We had no room for dessert, but our waiter brought out two Mallomars with the check to end the evening with a touch of sweetness. So, after a sluggish service start to our evening, the food made it an overall three-star experience. read more

If you are looking for a nice Steakhouse you have to check out Mooo. We came here for our anniversary and it was perfect! The service was top notch and the food was incredible! The bread was absolutely delicious and we had to hold ourselves back from ordering more. The presentations of the oysters was great and they were delicious! It did take a while for our steaks to come out but once they did they were devoured! Absolutely recommend the filet with a side of mashed potatoes. We were too full for dessert but they brought us over their chocolate covered marshmallows which was the perfect mini sweet treat. I highly recommend coming here!! read more

The service was outstanding. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. I ordered the rustic corned beef hash, and it was easily one of the best I've ever had. My husband enjoyed his omelette and was equally impressed. What an unforgettable experience at Moo Steakhouse on Beacon Street! From start to finish, everything was flawless--and a huge part of that was thanks to Anna, the incredible wine connoisseur and manager. She went above and beyond, taking us downstairs for a private tour of the wine room, showcasing some of the most beautiful and immaculate treasures this restaurant has to offer. Her knowledge, passion, and hospitality were unmatched. If you're into wine, make sure to say hi to Anna. She's a gem. As for the food--wow. We started with the dumplings, which were absolutely perfect. The salmon was rich and intense in the best way, and the steak was cooked to perfection--tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Don't miss out on the Moo sampler either--the potatoes and mushrooms were next-level delicious. Every bite, every moment was memorable. I cannot wait to come back. Five stars all the way. read more
