    Spicy chicken and Yukhoe
    Jessica Y.

Made a reservation for a birthday dinner and we really enjoyed our meal! Before getting to the food, I wanted to comment on the ambiance and service. It's a perfect date night vibe that has a casual upscale vibe. We ordered the prix fixe menu, which honestly came with a lot of food. They provided complimentary kimchi and an egg in bone broth. For our appetizers, we had the spicy fried chicken and yukhoe (beef tartare). Both appetizers were fine, but nothing super memorable. The main meal came with 10 ban chan, soup of the day, and two main entrees. The ban chan tasted pretty mediocre, but loved the presentation and all the options! For our entrees we chose the grilled fish (mackerel) and galbi-jjim. The fish was cooked well, but very simple so probably would pass on this. The galbi was very delicious and worth paying an extra $10. For two people you can choose a sotbap, so we opted for the mushroom which was very tasty. Finally, for dessert we ordered the buldock and chestnut ice cream. Overall, I think this is a great place to celebrate a special occasion! Can't say it's the best Korean food I've had, but I think the ambiance and service add a special touch to the dining experience.

My friend and I got a dinner reservation for the main dining room. We each ordered the pyongyang noodles and a strawberry sorbet. It was just as I expected. It tasted like a beef broth and it paired well with the kimchee. The only thing was the noodles were heavy and needed to be cut because it was hard to pick it up. The chopsticks are heavy too. They gave us kimchee and a warm poached egg soup as appetizers. The ambiance and the vibes of the restaurant reminds me of a chapel.

The most beautiful dining experience I have ever had! Seriously, can whoever designed the interior of Moono design my entire life? This restaurant absolutely took my breath away! It was like modern minimalism meets traditional Asian design. Everything from the dish-ware and cutlery to the bathroom was gorg. Onto the food! Moono is an upscale dining experience centered on Korean food. We got a few small bites to share. My favorites were the Hoe Muchim + Kim and the Mushroom Sotbap. The Hoe Muchim + Kim features seasonal fish, assorted vegetables, and gochujang and soybean powder to dip. You get to make your own ssam (wraps) with this beautiful spread! The fish was insanely fresh and my mind kept getting blown with each bite. The Mushroom Sotbap is a hot rice pot dish. It features golden queen rice, an array of different mushrooms, foie gras, and beef broth. Super decadent and comforting! I cannot wait to come back and make my way through their menu!

This is a lovely spot for a beautiful dinner. We made a reservation for dinner about a week in advance and chose to sit on the second level which is smaller and gives you a nice view out to the beautiful main dining room. I don't think you can go wrong with picking where to dine. When you arrive, the entrance is nondescript but walking in, I was immediately impressed by the decor. There's a bar to the side of the host stand, and all the bathrooms are located on the ground level. There's the choice of an elevator or stairs to get to the second level if you're dining there. We decided to do the three course dinner, and it was a generous amount of food considering you get an amuse bouche, rice, ten banchan dishes, and unlimited kimchi. Their kimchi was some of the best kimchi I have ever had (it's made fresh every day so it isn't fermented). We had a few servers helping us throughout the night and I'm glad they explained what all the banchan were. My favorites were the fried chicken appetizer (it wasn't too spicy), the kimchi, and the dessert. I also thought it was cute they served water in teapots (water was room temperature).

The inside of Moono is so beautiful! It really feels like you are transported to a different location after stepping through the main lobby! Came here for the restaurant week dinner, and it was one of the standouts for this season personally. Every dish was quite delicious, and the menu came out to be decent value. My personal favorite was the Galbijim main dish, which is a crowd pleaser, but the restaurant did it great justice. Service was prompt and courteous, and impressive that they were so knowledgeable about the large selection of banchan that is offered to the diners! Will definitely be back to try more things!

Great service. Solid food all around. Life changing mushroom rice & soup of the day. Their started poached egg in beef broth was delish too! I usually turn my nose up at "modernized" Korean bc I just have not seen it done well. This place does it well. I had the pre fix and upgraded the rice and it was well worth it! Will be coming back!

I love Moono! This is the second time I've been & both for a birthday, which they do give a scoop of ice cream to the person whose birthday it is. Their buckwheat ice cream is phenomenal! Also, the entrance is pretty inconspicuous, if you don't look closely you can just walk past it but the inside is gorgeous and lively. The service is amazingly attentive, the server noticed our kimchi getting low and would constantly replenish it without us asking. I LOVED their kimchi. It is the perfect amount of spiciness, garlicky, and tangy. We ate through so many bowls and we were tempted to take some to-go! The food is AMAZING. I definitely recommend the yukhoe, the uni sotbap, and the mushroom sotbap as well. The star is definitely the uni sotbap, they bring it out first for you to take pictures and then they bring it to the back to portion it out. Creamy, savory, and umami. The mushroom sotbap was buttery and fragrant. I love their sotbaps! Also, the yukhoe was SO delicious, slightly nutty and fresh, paired perfectly with the sweet pear. Highly recommend!!

One of my favorite Korean restaurants in Manhattan! The inside is beautifully decorated and the food is really good. It is definitely pricey though, so best for special occasions. I love the way they sliced the beef for the yukhoe super thin and the marinade was not so strong that you couldn't taste the flavor of the beef. The hoe muchim had a spicer, tangy sauce that had a lot of flavor. The fried chicken is extra crispy and the chicken is probably brined because you can taste the flavor throughout the meat. Their kimchi is also super fresh and delicious. The mushroom sotbap is honestly too expensive for what it is but I enjoyed eating it with the galbi jjim. I feel like the foie gras didn't really add anything special to the dish. The galbi jjim is a must get and probably their best dish. It was so tender and flavorful. The dessert wasn't too sweet, which I liked, but it wasn't anything too special. I will say the seating was a bit awkward because they sat my party at a big booth with another group. We were close enough to hear each other's conversations well. For the price point of the restaurant, I didn't love that.

Moono is a modern Korean restaurant that has fresh takes on traditional dishes. The main dining hall is very elegant and the ceiling pieces are tasteful and reminiscent of Korean paintings without being overdone. The perilla mocktail was nice and the rice was a highlight dish as well. Can't go wrong with trying out the menu and if you like drinks there are a lot of options!

While the restaurant was beautiful, they sat us next to the pantry where we didn't get the aesthetics. It's okay though because the food more than made up for it. Everything was just delicious. The Galbi Jim was different than the usual short rib. This was braised and stewed and super tender. Uni rice was a nice compliment to the fatty meat.

Loved the vibe here We ordered a bunch of dishes not pictured here and they did not disappoint Our favorite was the pancake We also got the cold noodles but would say this was probably our least favorite since it did not have much flavor and did not offer the mustard sauce or vinegar that usually helps flavor it

I recently tried three course menu from Moono Food: It was a clear highlight of the dinner. Galbijim was delicious, rich and flavorful. It was definitely a standout dish I would try again. Quality of the ingredients was high. Every bite was fresh. Appetizer was delicious. They come as a bite size. Banchans were also rich and flavorful. What surprised me was that I couldn't taste any artificial ingredients!! Space was modern and warm. It has nice sleek wood tables, soft lighting and a calm atmosphere. It felt great without being too stiff. I think it will be great place for dating or small group gatherings. Moono was great overall!!

First off, this place is decorated beautifully. It's so elegant and serene, and I love the subtle nods to Korean architecture and design throughout the restaurant. It's stunning. The food is too notch too. We had the mung bean pancake and this is one of my favourite things to get at the Korean markets -- crispy on the outside, savoury, and soft inside. So good. And then we got the uni sotbap, which is made for two people and it was so perfect. So delicious. Ended with dessert -- couldn't pick between the buckwheat ice cream or the burdock ice cream, but seemed like burdock was the popular choice, so got that. Was not disappointed. Super unique, almost woodsy flavours.

Here's what we ordered: ~ Tako Wasabi - 5/5 stars A fiery delight. This appetizer feartures chopped raw octopus marinated in wasabi. It has a lively zest from the wasabi and is topped with tobiko, which adds a pleasant contrast in texture. ~ Honey Makgeolli - 4/5 stars A traditional fermented Korean beverage that is light and pairs brilliantly with your meal. It is a cloudy alcholoic drink served in a metal teapot, and surprisingly, there is much more in that teapot than you would expect. It easily provides six to eight generous pours. The flavor is subtly sweet with a pleasant tang. ~ Temaki Set - 4/5 stars You can order a set of three by choosing from selections 1-17, or you can order a la carte at the listed prices. Some of the temaki stood out more than others. Our two sets included marinated salmon, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy bluefin, and two dynamite temaki. ~ Spicky Pork Ssam Set - 5/5 stars Truly another standout entree that even surpassed my beloved grilled BBQ bossam. You received a generous basket of assorte greens, including romaine, kale, perilla leaves, dandelion leaves, nappa cabbage, and more. It is well worth the price and makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your family and friends. There is also various banchan offered and this time, they were beyond kind enough to offer refills. The last time we were here, we ordered just as much food and they stated they normally did not offer refills, which I thought was very odd. We got the large beef combination platter which comes with ribeye, thin skirt, brisket, marinated kalbi, and marinated chuck flap. Most people stuck with water, while a couple got ginger ale. I ordered the soju flight but I ended up not liking it so my cousins shared it. The meal comes with different veggies as well as your choice of soup. We got the spicy tofu and split it 6 ways. The spice lived up to its name, so I didn't eat very much. The best part was meat. Despite there being 6 of us, there was plenty to go around. I think you have the option to cook it yourself or have them cook it for you and we chose the latter. While I enjoyed it, I wish there was more space. Most of the space was taken up by the accompaniments that come with it (veggies, etc), so there was hardly any room to put anything else. It didn't help that none of our dishes were cleared once we finished them and that no rice is included. Aside from that, both the food and service were great.

But there's no denying that BCD has upped their soondubu game considerably in the last decade+ with a thicker, more deeply flavored broth, and now easily rivals my longtime favorite and gold standard, the OG So Kong Dong in Fort Lee. Then I stumbled into a hack that changed my view: lunch! I ducked in for a late lunch on a whim while walking by one day, and this turned out to be a much chiller hour, unhurried and no reservation needed. I was promptly seated, my order taken, and the banchan swiftly laid out. The banchan spread is solid across the board (the little fried fish does nothing for me, but seems to be a highlight for everyone else). I especially love the kimchi, near-perfect IMO, and the pickled cucumber. There's a modest lunch discount, which is a nice bonus for someone who likes to order aggressively. I usually get an oyster, seafood, or assorted soondubu (with a raw egg cracked in), danger spicy of course! Or go the C1 combo route with a galbi (marinated bbq beef short ribs) + smaller soondubu. It's an enormous amount of food, so I take most of the galbi home and feel no shame about it. The galbi, by the way, has also gotten noticeably better over the years - meatier, tender, and the flavor is on point. I've also enjoyed their bibimbap, bulgogi, jap chae, and seafood pancake. Finally, let's talk heat - this chili-head loooves fire! And BCD's danger level is one of the rare instances where the spice level actually meets my punishing tolerance for heat, not some pretense at "American spicy.," despite this being a chain. Their danger level actually means business and brings tears to my eyes, literally. It's still not my favorite place ambience wise, and dinner remains a contact sport I've mostly opted out of, as gone are the days that I can tolerate a culinary mosh pit, and any wait longer than 10 minutes (and only for a superlative place) will trigger an automatic ejection of my presence. But for lunch? Unexpectedly great. 4 stars for dinner, 5 for lunch.
