    Shabu shabu
    Justin W.

Overall, the meal was delicious! The atmosphere is very peaceful and aesthetic. It really fits the idea of a Korean spa/hot spring. The service was fantastic. Everyone was kind and offered help wherever they could! The meal was tasty with a lot of different sauces, meats, bonchon, and veggies. The only issue I had was with the price. It was much higher than I'd expect for Shabu Shabu. We ended up spending around $50 per person before tip

Oncheon is a stunning Korean restaurant in Manhattan's ktown with a soothing and calm ambience. The space is beautifully decorated and I love all the decor. There's so much attention to detail even to how the menus were displayed that I really liked. My friend and I shared the lunch shabu shabu for two with the waygu and brisket, udon noodles and ma la soup base. Overall it was filling between the two of us with the set. This is a great spot in ktown for an elevated dining experience!

Oncheon nails the hot spring concept, the decor and overall ambiance really do make the space feel transportive and intentional rather than gimmicky. It's warm, moody, and immersive. The Seoul Glow cocktail (Asian pear-based) was good - definitely on the sweeter side, but surprisingly strong. Super easy to drink. The su yuk was delicious and one of our favorite dishes of the night. The spicy sauce served alongside it balanced everything really well and added a lot of depth without overpowering the meat. Our only real disappointment was the seafood kimchi pancake. There wasn't much seafood distributed throughout, and the kimchi leaned more sour. There was also a huge amount of shredded leafy garnish on top (possibly perilla?) that kind of overwhelmed the dish texturally. The dipping sauce was nice, though. The seafood platter - which was really the reason we came - was very good for a little under $80 and had a solid variety. The shrimp and salmon were especially well-marinated, and honestly I preferred their marinades to a lot of others I've had in the city. My one note is that I wish the crab had sat in the marinade longer. The claw meat in particular didn't feel like it fully absorbed the flavor the way the other seafood did.

5/5 Chanhap unagi $35- My friend said this is the best eel she's had in the US, & I agree. This comes with rice on the bottom, on the side: layers of rice, scrambled eggs, seaweed & furikake. There's also wasabi & pickled ginger on the side. The eel is sweet but I didn't really mind it, very flavorful & tender otherwise, I think the furikake or seaweed on the egg was too salty. I didn't use the wasabi which I regret. You're supposed to mix all the sides/everything together so you get a blend of all flavors in 1 bite- sweet, salty, spicy, umami. This also comes with banchan- soy sauce, seaweed, brilliantly plated kkaktugi wrapped in kimchi & a lychee yuzu dessert. Loved everything esp the dessert. 3/5 porcini mushroom set seafood platter $42 glass noodle $5 extra - the crab wasn't the best quality but everything else was pretty good

Delicious food! The raw marinated seafood in the summer special was so fresh and delicious, and the warm soup set was so flavorful and hearty. The milk tea makgeolli was also unique and delicious. The servers were super helpful and attentive, and the ambiance was great.

Oncheon ("On" = warm, "Cheon" = spring) really lives up to its name, the whole place has a relaxing, hot-spring vibe. The atmosphere is calm and comfortable, and they serve a very clean, healthy style of hot pot. We ordered the Oncheon Signature Set ($42 per person). For the soup base we chose the fermented soybean broth, which was excellent. The set comes with a box of assorted vegetables and four small side dishes. For proteins, we added the Wagyu ribeye (+$7) and the seafood platter. The Wagyu came with about 5-6 thin slices and the quality was really nice. The seafood platter included scallops, crab, white fish, clams, and shrimp -- a great mix for two people. After cooking everything together, the broth became incredibly flavorful from the seafood and beef. That's one of my favorite parts of hot pot -- the soup just keeps getting better as you go. Service was friendly and attentive, and the overall experience felt relaxing rather than rushed. I'd probably go with the seafood platter alone next time since it's a good value for the portion. All in all, a great spot for a lighter, healthier hot pot. You leave feeling full but still comfortable.

I would absolutely go back to this restaurant. The food was absolutely phenomenal and the drinks were great. The service left a little to be desired but the food absolutely made up for it.

The food here was seasoned well and delicious. Plenty of options to select from you were able to have Ramen or choose plenty of other dishes. The ambience was soothing and felt intimate. The service was quick.

Oncheon is one of my favorite new spots around k-town for lunch & dinner! The ingredients feel premium in the food and the ambiance is very relaxing. The staff is always kind as well. The menu has two types of options, either a healthy hotpot set or a box set. I've tried both and they're both really good! The hotpot set comes with a large amount of veggies and meat and you can add in extras like noodles. The box sets are perfect in case you're not in the mood for hotpot. They both come with side dishes/banchan so you can't go wrong. The crispy beef fritter appetizer, unagi box set and sukiyaki hot pot are my personal favorites here.

My goodness! What an experience! From the servers, to the presentation, to the quality of the food, this place has it all! I was in the mood for something, wasn't sure what, and in NYC you can literally fall into somewhere great, and I walked past this place at least 20 times, but for some reason, it caught my eye today. Upon entering, you are immediately greeted but you get completely overwhelmed because from the outside, you don't expect what you walk into: it's dimly lit, but tastefully. The booths and tables are cozy, spread out enough to feel like you are alone. Even the bar (where I sat), felt like I was in my own world. It's beautifully decorated, and extremely aesthetically pleasing. With plants throughout, waterfalls, and perfect lighting. The server will give you several menus, offer suggestions, and pour you a glass of bamboo tea. I asked about it, and she stated that her family has it at home all the time, and it's the perfect complement to the meal experience you are about to have. I can't remember everything I ordered, but I decided I wanted glass noodles, and they were delicious. You're given a pot with whatever broth you decide to try, a platter of sauces, one of vegetables, and one of meat. The server will offer suggestions, ask your spicy tolerance level, and set everything up. It's so much food! And I did my best sampling everything, the cold and hot sauces were perfect, the meat was juicy, and the veggies were fresh and crispy. I spent under $45 for the entire meal. I'll be back very soon!

Oncheon is a restaurant serving "well-being" shabu shabu. I love the beautiful chanhap boxes. The unagi was sooo good as well! THe signature doenjang shabu shabu was great, it's a very fun experience, and the staff are very attentive to you during the whole meal.

A cute ambiance that's not as loud as other Korean restaurants nearby. The menu is selective and focused, with adorable presentation. The staff is efficient and very friendly. The complimentary cake from the staff was nice. We will try their hotpot next time! Reservations are highly recommended !

I stopped in for the lunch shabu shabu set and it was mid overall. Food: 3/5 I got the fermented soybean broth had nice flavor, and the Korean noodles were a good choice. You only get a few slices of beef, so expect to fill up on veggies and noodles. The standout was the fresh tofu salad--silky tofu, edamame, and a flavorful dressing I could eat every day. Skip the complimentary green-tea tiramisu they offer if you leave a review--it tasted mostly like whipped cream with a faint matcha layer. Total damage $55 with tip! Service: 4/5 I was seated immediately and had my pot and sides within 15 minutes--very efficient. The only hiccup was ordering tea: they poured one cup but never left the pot, so staff kept topping it with water by mistake. Friendly overall, and the owner seemed genuinely happy to check in. Ambiance: 4/5 Trendy interior with a Japanese vibe that makes you forget you're in busy Koreatown. It's a relaxed spot for a solo lunch or a low-key meal with friends. All in all, an okay lunch value and a fun shabu shabu experience if you're nearby. I'd return for the tofu salad, but probably not for dessert or a special night out.

The effortless tranquility encourages you to slow down, enjoy the food, and get away from the everyday, hubbub. Their menu leans into fusion dishes with a nod to some of the classic home-style classics. Everything is presented with a refined, elevated touch. Here's what we ordered: ~ Tako Wasabi - 5/5 stars A fiery delight. This appetizer feartures chopped raw octopus marinated in wasabi. It has a lively zest from the wasabi and is topped with tobiko, which adds a pleasant contrast in texture. ~ Honey Makgeolli - 4/5 stars A traditional fermented Korean beverage that is light and pairs brilliantly with your meal. It is a cloudy alcholoic drink served in a metal teapot, and surprisingly, there is much more in that teapot than you would expect. It easily provides six to eight generous pours. The flavor is subtly sweet with a pleasant tang. ~ Temaki Set - 4/5 stars You can order a set of three by choosing from selections 1-17, or you can order a la carte at the listed prices. Some of the temaki stood out more than others. Our two sets included marinated salmon, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy bluefin, and two dynamite temaki. ~ Spicky Pork Ssam Set - 5/5 stars Truly another standout entree that even surpassed my beloved grilled BBQ bossam. You received a generous basket of assorte greens, including romaine, kale, perilla leaves, dandelion leaves, nappa cabbage, and more. It is well worth the price and makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your family and friends. There is also various banchan offered and this time, they were beyond kind enough to offer refills. The last time we were here, we ordered just as much food and they stated they normally did not offer refills, which I thought was very odd. With its casual bougie aesthetics, this spot has quickly become one of my favorite eateries in Fort Lee-lee, It beautifully blends Korean, Japanese, and American flavors in a way that feels both comforting and elevated. Needless to say, we will be back!

We walked into a warm and inviting space that feels comfortable for both casual meals and group dining, with a dining room that balances a contemporary aesthetic with the familiar energy of a neighborhood spot. The interior is thoughtfully designed, with a layout that accommodates both small tables and larger groups without feeling cramped, and the lighting and décor create a relaxed, approachable atmosphere. The food was one of the strongest parts of the experience, with the dishes feeling thoughtfully prepared and well balanced. We ordered the bossam and found the meat tender with good accompaniments that added layers of flavor and texture to each bite. The kimchi pancake had a nice texture and flavor, with a crisp exterior and a savory, slightly tangy interior that held up well against the dipping sauce. The hot pot options were also enjoyable, especially on a colder day when we wanted something more comforting, and the broth had a depth that made the dish feel complete. The banchan selection added variety to the meal and helped round out the table with different flavors and textures, from the familiar kimchi to the more subtle pickled vegetables. The restaurant also does a good job with dishes that are meant to be shared. Items like the croquettes, grilled dishes, and larger plates make it a good place to come with a group and try different things rather than ordering individually. The dessert options are also worth considering, with items like the tiramisu and black sesame ice cream adding a nice finish to the meal, the black sesame flavor offering a nutty, earthy note that paired well with the sweeter elements. Service was another highlight, with the staff being attentive and keeping the meal moving smoothly even when the restaurant was busy. They checked in at the right moments and offered guidance on the menu without being pushy. Since it is a popular spot in Koreatown, reservations are recommended, especially during peak dining hours. The atmosphere can get lively, but it still maintains a comfortable dining experience, with the noise level staying manageable even as the room fills up. Her Name is Han is a solid choice for Korean food in NYC, especially if you are looking for a place that combines traditional flavors with a more polished dining experience. The combination of quality dishes, welcoming atmosphere, and good service makes it a restaurant worth considering for both casual meals and special occasions, offering a meal that feels both thoughtful and satisfying.

The room gets lively when it fills up, but the noise level adds to the experience rather than detracting from it, making it feel like a place built for sharing and conversation. The food is where Hojokban stands out. The complimentary banchan sets the tone for the meal with flavorful sides that add variety before the main dishes arrive, each one thoughtfully prepared and offering a different texture or flavor profile. The gomtang soup is one of the more comforting options, bringing together tender meat, a rich broth, and classic Korean flavors in a way that feels hearty without being overly heavy. The galbi dishes are also a highlight, with the meat cooked well and carrying the sweet and savory balance that makes Korean-style grilled beef so enjoyable. The portions are generous, and the quality of the ingredients is noticeable across the board. The menu has several unique dishes worth exploring. The truffle potato pancake is one of the more memorable items, combining a familiar Korean staple with a richer, modern twist that adds depth without losing the essence of the original. The perilla oil noodles are another standout, offering a lighter but still flavorful option with a distinct nutty aroma that lingers on the palate. The beef tartare adds a more refined element to the meal, fresh and well seasoned, while dishes like the ramyun fried rice bring a fun comfort food element with bold, savory flavors. Together, the menu covers enough ground that you can build a meal around both familiar favorites and more creative choices. Service is friendly and the overall experience feels welcoming rather than overly formal. The staff are attentive without hovering, and they handle the busy flow of the restaurant with a pace that keeps the meal moving without feeling rushed. The Ssambap Set was incredibly satisfying. The beef was tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the fresh lettuce wraps, rice, banchan, and soup. Every bite was well-balanced and packed with flavor. We also ordered the Mixed Katsu Set, which was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and cooked to perfection. It came with generous portions and made for a comforting, filling meal. The restaurant has a modern and welcoming atmosphere, the staff was friendly and attentive, and everything arrived fresh and beautifully presented. If you're looking for a delicious Korean lunch in NYC's Koreatown, Jeong Yuk Jeom is definitely worth a visit. I'll be coming back to try more of their menu!

The galbi-jjim was perfectly tender like I could literally pull it apart with my chopstick. The addition of the rice cake, pumpkin, and pyogo mushroom were a nice touch. The soy sauce base was a little sweet and if you take a bit and pour it over the mushroom sotbap, it is soooooooo good!!!!!!! The mushroom sotbap is so umami. There is foie gras in it which maybe be in a little overpowering for some people but I really enjoyed it I could easily eat a whole bowl of their freshly made kimchi. It was perfect. Not too salty or spicy or fermented. Literally perfect!!! I actually asked for seconds. The cold cucumber broth was really refreshing Highly, highly recommend making a resy!! There's a main dining room and a mezzanine. I sat at the mezz and got an amazing view of the main dining room. Service here is amazing. The only thing that I thought was a bit of a shame is that there's a $10 cake cutting service PER PERSON, if you wanted to celebrate a birthday. We got their fried chicken, beef tartare, 2 galbi jjim, and their bossam. Everything was phenomenal. While I think we could've skipped the chicken, the galbi jjim is a must-try. Cocktails are also great here. Amazing dining experience, food, ambiance, service, and I highly recommend.
