Their $20 lunch set is such a good deal, comes with soup, banchan, and your choice of protein! I got the grilled mackerel and really loved it, perfect saltiness!Service was alright overall.

10/10. Was looking for a place to try raw marinated crab, and this place was highly recommended, and it did not disappoint. We came on a Friday night we made reservation reservations in advance. I definitely recommend you to make a reservations in advance. They were super packed. Inside is very cute and homey, a good amount of seating in the front and the back and great service. They have very cute plate settings. They have great side dishes, all very delicious, my favorite was the spicy fish cake and you can ask for more! We ordered an appetizer, which was the KFC the Korean fried chicken. It was so crispy so light so juicy very delicious season perfectly. The spicy raw marinated crab, SO FRESH, it was very spicy, but a good kind of spicy, definitely recommend it with some hot steam rice so delicious so flavorful. Since the weather was cold, we also wanted something warm so we ordered a soup, the Yuzu Chicken Noodle Soup, it came with Noodles with homemade chicken broth, boiled chicken, yuzu oil, chives, and black sesame. It was such a unique taste, you can taste like lime leaves flavor, but good balance. I will definitely come back. I see that they have great lunch options. 100% recommend if you're ever in the city to try this place!

Budae Hot Pot

It's a solid 3.75/5 Another modern, trendy Korean restaurant with the vibe of a lively Seoul pub. Unfortunately, this one felt overrated. K.F.C (Korean Fried Chicken) was tasty with nice chunks of chicken, but the exterior could have been crispier. Budae Hot Pot lacked depth in the broth, although I understand they may be trying to cater to a broader audience. It did have a good variety of ingredients, but the beans were unusual--I've never seen beans included in this soup before. We asked for them to be removed, but they were forgotten. The yuzu beer looked like it was made with fresh yuzu and was served nice and cold. However, it was extremely sweet. It's hard to imagine that level of sweetness without added sugar. The seating is also very tight, and it's difficult to move comfortably. Overall, the concept and atmosphere are fun, but the food and experience didn't quite live up to the hype

Banchan

A really cute & cozy, modern-style Korean restaurant in Koreatown! Service was really amazing (attentive and quick)! Inside is well-lit and not too loud. And I saw both big and smaller parties fit inside. I came alone and wanted to try as much as I could. The mini bossam plus the shrimp & pepper pancake was perfect! The bossam was very tender and the white kimchi and pickled daikons on the side were the perfect pairing. (I was expecting some greens to wrap it in though....) The shrimp and pepper pancake was yummy and had a good sauce, I do wish it was crunchier though. All the banchan was delicious! (The white kimchi was my favorite and they gave me more!) Then I finished off my meal with the black sesame ice cream; so yummy, perfectly sweet, and paired well with the freeze-dried strawberries and matcha crumble!! (Only complaint: the ice creams needs more black sesame flavor!) Overall, an amazing Korean restaurant with great service and high quality food! You might want a reservation if your party is more than yourself though!

Came here on a Friday evening with a reservation, and was seated very quickly. It had a very modern interior with dim lighting. They brought us 4 small banchan dishes, which they did not refill throughout the evening. I found the small plates here to be more delicious than the large ones. I really liked the cheesiness and kimchi flavors in the kimchi pancake, and it was both chewy and crispy at the same time. The poached egg it came with gave it a good touch too. The black sesame tofu was very unique. I enjoyed the different flavors and textures in the bite, with the creaminess of the tofu and the crispiness of the toppings. The galbi hot pot wasn't super flavorful, but it was very homey and comforting and came with two bowls of rice. The galbi was very tender. The bossam stood out to me the least, but wasn't too fatty. Overall, it was a very delicious meal!

This K-town classic for Korean food is a super popular spot for both their brunch and dinner. The inside is cozy and I highly recommend a reservation as it gets super busy. Service is quick and very polite. I came for their dinner service and tried their kimchi pancake with a poached egg, fried cod, and bibimbap. Everything was delicious, including their banchan. The favorite of the night was their fried cod as the fish was fried so delicately and didn't feel oily at all. And, their maesaengi sauce for the fish paired so well and was like nothing I've had before. I wish I was hungrier when I went to be able to try more of their dishes. Will definitely have to come back to try their brunch sets!

I recently dined at Her Name Is Han on a Wednesday evening, and even midweek it was not easy to get a reservation. It is a small, packed place and clearly in high demand, which already tells you a lot. The space is cozy and charming, with an authentic feel that still works for a variety of taste preferences. We started with soju, which was smooth and delicious, a perfect way to begin the meal. For appetizers, we ordered the black sesame tofu and rice cakes. The tofu was outstanding, silky and flavorful, with a generous portion for around eleven dollars. The rice cakes were exactly how I like them, nicely chewy and very satisfying. For the main, we shared a seafood and tofu hot pot, and that completely stole the show. It was large enough for about four people, filled with a rich, flavorful broth and a generous amount of seafood. Every bite had depth and warmth and just kept getting better. The service was good overall. When we asked them to pack our leftover food, they accidentally threw away the leftover soup. To make up for it, they offered us complimentary tiramisu and black sesame ice cream. The black sesame ice cream was a highlight for me and definitely left a strong impression. Overall, the meal came to about fifty to sixty dollars per person, which felt very reasonable for the quality and experience. Between the food, the ambiance, and the overall experience, this is a place I would definitely return to.

Lunch bossam

This is for two different visits lunch and brunch. Service was excellent they were friendly and took the allergies serious. For lunch I was able to get a seat during the week I was there 5 mins before opening and the tables filled up fast so I recommend a reservation or getting there right at opening for brunch we had a reservation and it still filled up fast. The lunch was absolutely delicious the bossam is the best ive had super tender the right amount of fat to mest ratio, the sides are fresh and filling and rhe budae was flavorful and filling. For the brunch the food was also fresh delicious and filling the risotto is creamy and umami the bulgogi was juicy tender and flavorful the coffee fish fritters also a fav huge pieces that are tender on the inside and crispy on the outside with a yummy starter sauce, the croquet was creamy and delicious. For brunch they have a lovely peach matcha thats only available for brunch its a must get then the lychee cocktail is pretty and tasty and the hallabong spritz is fruity and lovely. We got both desserts and they were also worth it the tiramisu was creamy and the raspberry wine in it great combo, the ice cream was not overly sweet and the matcha crumbs along with the dried fruit added nice texture. I definitely recommend trying this restaurant its worth all the hype and I look forward to returning for dinner.

C2 Three kinds of Ham, Rice Cake, Ramen, Beans, Vegetables & Cheese in Veggie Broth

I heard a lot of great things about this place and was excited to check it out while I was in New York. Of course there were no reservations day of, but we waited about 15 minutes and we're seated as walk-ins. We ordered two things to share, and it was more than enough food. We ordered C2: Three kinds of Ham, Rice Cake, Ramen, Beans, Vegetables & Cheese in Veggie Broth. This was absolutely delicious! A huge portion you have to share it. It had a lot of meat and was a very hearty meal. We even had leftovers. We also got the Kimchee pancake, it was a great size to share. It was well cooked and well flavored and we really enjoyed it. The one thing I will say about the service is that one of waiters we just randomly approach the table and stare at us until we started talking to them, and when we tried to order drinks, he walked away. Other than that, I find this place to be a very affordable and fun night out with friends. It definitely gave a very homey vibe and there was a lot of takeout and delivery orders.

Bossam

Such a cute cozy restaurant. I was able to get a table by the window and had a lovely time here. Hallabong spritz: 10/10 Crisp and refreshing, not too sweet. It went very well with my meal! Banchan: I got bok choy, chicken sausages, fish cake, and kimchi. These were pretty good, not the best banchan I've had though and wish there was more variety Black sesame tofu: 9/10 This was very unique! I love black sesame and the flavor really came through. The crispy bits on top were also super yummy Bossam: 8/10 The small was a good portion! Didn't have that pork smell and didn't feel too fatty either. The white kimchi and sauce that came with is was delicious and helped with the richness

Yuzu Chicken Noodle Soup
May H.

Okay where to start... Design wise, it was aesthetic and cozy inside, with ample room for dine in. Loved the minimalist aspect interior and the aesthetics of how dishes and banchans were presented. I came 4 minutes after they opened for lunch and there was already a small line that had formed. Luckily didn't have to wait too long despite not making reservations. Service was great, incredibly attentive and quick. Highly recommend their Yuzu Chicken Moodle Soup lunch special. This is a pretty good deal concerning the many sides that came with the dish. The broth was light but flavorful, the noodles were chewy and bouncy, and the chicken was juicy and tender. Also really enjoyed their sides, especially the watercress, potatoes and that black sesame tofu!!! Finished off my meal with some tiramisu which I also recommend. I would come here everyday for lunch if I could!!!

Been on my to go list forever so im glad it finally happened. The food was good and filling! I even had leftover army stew to bring home. Ban chan was delicious! The kim chi was spicier than i thought it would be and im a big spice person! Solid spot. Would come here with friends or date night. Service was great and love the low light mood of this spot

Julia L.

The pork belly at Her Name is Han is divine! I also really enjoyed the fried fish appetizer. The banchan was pretty small and no refills, which was unfortunate. Service is a little bit slow because it's so busy. However, the pork belly makes it worth it!

Do they have hard dickins cider?

Most likely not, but you can check their menu online

I'm dining with someone who cannot eat spicy foods. Is there a good selection of non-spicy dishes to choose from?

Yes. The tofu dish is awesome. Tasty, not spicy. The cod is amazing, not spicy. I think you'll find enough and just ask them to dial down any spice. Enjoy!

Do they serve wine?

Yes! You can check out the exact ones here https://www.hernameishan.com/han-menu

Is there music / are there speakers in the restaurant?

Yes, there is music.

Can I walk in? No reservations available. How long would I have to wait if I walked in?

You can but reservation is suggested, it's usually quite packed.

I went solo for lunch a few weeks ago and it was like 15 min so not too bad. But as we get closer to the holidays and more tourists come to ny, the wait may be longer

Can I go just walk in?

Yes but if it's full, it will be anywhere from 15-30min+ wait, always best to reserve to save time

Is the restaurant still checking vaccination cards?

Nope I feel like no one does that anymore.

Do they take reservations?

Yes you can reserve a table on Resy! https://resy.com/cities/ny/her-name-is-han?date=2022-09-07&seats=2

Do they still require vaccination as of 3/22?

I don't think so

Does the heated outdoor seating have good air flow?

Seems like , though haven't sit there .

Is it wheelchair accessible?

No, they only a traditional door that opens and you will pivot 90 degrees and then pivot another 90 degrees left to go straight. In other words, it's tight getting in.

Which chicken dish is the best?

If you don't mind it fried, I highly recommend their Korean Fried chicken. If you are opposed to the fried foods, they have the Garlic Grilled Chicken which is also exceptionally tasty.

Do they require vaccination card to enter?

Yes

Do they take your temperature?

Nope! Also packed like sardines.

What on the menu is gluten free?

I'm not sure

Do you have baby octopus dishes in the menu?

OMG, that was one of my absolute favorite dishes from them. Sadly when I last went there on September 2023, they did not offer it and so I wonder if the baby octopus small platter was seasonal or they just stopped carrying it. I truly hope they… Read more

Think vintage wallpaper, little knick-knacks, and warm lighting. It's got character. I also ordered a Diet Pepsi with grenadine; they don't carry Diet Coke, which I almost docked a point for, but the mix was unexpectedly delicious. Highly recommend it. My date ordered the hanger steak and said it was absolutely amazing. Only hiccup: his first glass of wine he got came out hot... like, microwave-level warm. Fortunately, the server brought a new (cold) one and the rest of the meal was smooth sailing. Service was friendly, the vibe was homey and relaxed, and the food was solid across the board. Would definitely come back, especially for that salad and another round of grenadine magic.

After a weekend of rich, indulgent meals, we were looking for something a little more…read morestraightforward and comforting. We also wanted to try a classic pastrami on rye--but without committing to the long lines at Katz's Delicatessen. Sarge's ended up being the perfect alternative, just a quick five-minute walk from our hotel. We arrived around 5:00 pm on a Sunday and were seated right away, which already felt like a win. The meal started with coleslaw and both a half sour and full sour pickle--such a classic deli touch, and a great way to kick things off. I ordered the half sandwich with matzah ball soup, and the portion sizes were no joke. The soup alone could have been a full meal: a huge bowl with an equally massive matzah ball. The broth was warm and soothing, and the matzah ball was incredibly light with a perfect texture. The half pastrami on rye was just as impressive. Even "half" was stacked high with flavorful, tender pastrami. Adding a bit of mustard from the table brought everything together--it was simple, classic, and exactly what I was hoping for. Not only was it one of the more reasonably priced meals of the trip, but it was also genuinely satisfying. If you're looking for a no-fuss, traditional deli experience without the wait, Sarge's is a great option.
