Wow wow - absolutely stunning. Whoever designed the interior needs a raise. The entrance is lowkey, dim, and unassuming which screams quiet luxury. Once you enter the dining area - behold the high ceilings. I came here for a weekend lunch with family and I love that the tables are spacious and not on top of each other which gave us a sense of privacy even though there were other parties near us. We got the the Elite Lunch Package for 4 and our waiter cooked the meat to medium rare perfection. I only wish there were more variety in the banchan and that the kimchi was less sweet, but all were still tasty. I didn't care for the cold noodles and the spicy is not spicy at all. Didn't have a reservation my first visit but only had to wait a few minutes for a table since it was early; the restaurant started filling up soon after we got there and the place is huge. I've been to a lot of expensive Korean bbq restaurants and this one is in my top 2. We ordered the Duo Elite package and two drinks. My highball was surprisingly strong which I liked. A lot of different servers came to bring sparkling water, banchan, steamed egg. We didn't have lunch so we were starving and I was so full at the end... even L was stuffed and he can eat a lot... Everyone who brought items to the table explained what it was and our water glasses were always filled. As soon as we finished a banchan dish, it was refilled. We must've gotten japchae 3x. All the meat was cooked perfectly. I really liked my bite of filet mignon which I normally don't care for but this was so juicy. I only used the fresh wasabi on some of the meats, I enjoyed them even without any seasoning. Everything was cooked so well. We made lettuce wraps with the marinated meats which we usually don't bother with. The A5 was so soft and yummy but too rich for me. I loved the matcha ice cream. Service was excellent. We actually went again, less than a week later to try the duo prime package. This time I had a reservation for a late Fri night. No wait but the place was full and a bit loud compared to our first visit. This time we added the shrimp pancake and kimchi stew. I also ordered a couple of highballs and a strawberry cocktail. We were so full, we took some of the meat home. The shrimp pancake is pricey but it was tasted great. Crispy on the outside. Shrimps were really tiny..more like a veggie pancake but good flavor. Howoo Korean BBQ was such a great experience. The space is massive and surprisingly elegant for a Korean BBQ spot. I was a little worried at first since there aren't visible overhead chimneys above the grills, I fully expected to leave smelling like BBQ for the rest of the day. But they have a super sophisticated ventilation system, and you genuinely can't tell at all. They offer set packages, which might be slightly pricier than other places, but still very reasonable considering the quality and the amount of meat and sides you get. They also vary in price wether you want to get fancier cuts of meat. Personally, we got the basic one and it was top notch! We were a table of 6 and got seated in a more reserved area. We also got there early, so the staff was incredibly attentive and it almost felt like a VIP experience. The service was impeccable, they cook for you and guide you through which cuts go best with which sauces. Overall the food was amazing, and we left completely stuffed and very happy. It's super spacious (although I feel like they don't really utilize all of it) and the staff is really knowledgeable with the cuts of meat and give you recommendations on how to eat each cut! The quality of the meat is great and I will say I went during lunch and their prices were pretty reasonable for the quality and all the side dishes you get. Be prepared to be super full at the end of your meal! They give you a whole rice pot with a soup and you can also opt for the Korean cold noodles which are a must for kbbq! This was a weirdly disappointing experience and I never had KBBQ like this. First, the food was phenomenal. We got the elite package for 6 as we were 5 people and it was plenty of food. Some cuts I liked better than others but the quality was there. Now, the disappointing part was the pacing and inattentive service. It took about 30 min for any ban chan to come out and because we were so hungry, we kept on eating the banchan. My mother kept asking for lemons and it took about 6 different times to get lemon in her water. They give one egg souffle for 6 people, which is ridiculous given that the smaller packages for less people also get one. They should've given us at least a second one IF we are paying for a 6 person package. When you pay for a package for more people, you expect to get more. If we wanted extra, we would have to pay. It took another 30 minutes for the meat to come out, which is a long time after banchan sitting there. I was so hungry and didn't want to fill up on banchan. Everything was painfully slow, each time they cooked the meat there was always a huge break in between. We asked when the pot rice/stew and cold noodles were coming out and they said towards the end. When it said second round on the menu, I didn't think it meant the end??? People eat rice and cold noodles during the meat course but why was this given at the end?? The pacing was so terrible and super slow. At the end, they pushed the check on us before the ice cream, forgot it was my brother's birthday, then finally acknowledged when we noticed others getting birthday items. The sister restaurant of Nubiani and same owners that opened up Dubuhaus. Came here for birthday celebration and got the regular set. For the price (it was around ~215 for two people after tax and tip), they gave a very generous amount of food. It was to the point where we had leftovers, which usually is never the case for upscale KBBQ restaurants that I frequent in NYC. Our server took the time to thoroughly explain each cut of meat and the best way to eat it, whether with specific sauces or with Samjang. The restaurant was also kind enough to give us a special dessert for the birthday. I think Howoo is pretty on par with Nubiiani, if not slightly better. The inside has a nice aesthetic feel to it, that is really similar to Dubuhaus if Dubuhaus was more dimly lit. I saw a decent amount of seating for both smaller parties and larger private rooms on the top floor, making Howoo great for all types of occasions. The servers were great and were very quick on their feet. This restaurant also gives a cash discount so make sure to bring cash. If not, there are two ATMs located in the restaurant. I came here with my mom and brother and ordered the Prime Duo package. It was enough for all three of us as my mom and I have smaller stomachs. Despite not always looking for meat and having a smaller stomach, I ate a good amount of the serving and left the restaurant satisfied and now I want more as I think about it while writing this review. I'm from a diff state so it'll be hard to go back but I hope to go again in the near future! The restaurant is quite dark but not to the point where vision is uncomfortable. While Nubiani is known for its great cuts of meat, Howoo takes things a step further with even higher-quality selections and beautifully marbled cuts. The portions were huge compared to Nubani (our favorite kbbq place in nyc), and we had to pack a few items to go. Came here to celebrate a friend's engagement and this spot was perfect! The ambiance is really nice, definitely feels upscale and little to no kbbq smoke scent. We ordered the Prime Package for 4 ($305) and got a couple drinks to start. The Ginseng one was super taste, but the Omija was gorgeous and stole the show. Banchan comes out and it's delish, they don't seem to really refill it though so keep that in mind. The fluffy steamed egg was heavenly! Now for the meat itself- I loved the short rib, both the marinated and non. It's super soft and melts in your mouth. The snow marble was probably my favorite piece of meat. They follow up the meat with your choice of stew or cold noodle (naengmyun). The naengmyun was delicious and a perfect end to the meal paired with the marinated kalbi. Finally they brought out green tea soft serve which was so creamy and delicious with a custard-like texture! We went for Sunday Brunch and it was discounted compared to dinner with better service because there weren't a lot of people there for Sunday Brunch. If you're eating the amount of food you expect to eat at Korean BBQ, honestly the time to do it is during lunch. Wine list has some hits and a lot of young wines which is too bad - but we found some good wines amongst the European choices so that was a nice treat. There's an abundance of higher-end Korean BBQ in NYC, and I think Howoo is the best. First, the restaurant is huuuggee. I loved the design of the restaurant. The lighting is dark and moody, and the interior is minimalistic and modern. There's so much seating. For tables of two, you will likely be seated at a bar-style seat, but these are much more comfortable than traditional bars. They're lower than your average high top, and the seats have back support lol. Service is fine-- like all of the other KBBQ places, someone cooks the meats for you, which is always nice! The meat quality was great here. The first meat we had was the most tender, but the others weren't bad either. Everyone gets a choice of either a Stew & Kettle Pot Rice or Cold Noodle. It makes the preparation of the food the main event and the staff does a great job of presenting and timing the food well. The elite package lets you choose what side soup/stew you'd like. My husband got the cold noodles and I got the spicy tofu stew. Depending on the time of the year, the preference might change, but cold noodles were so delicious and refreshing with the meal. I recommend the cold noodles. We ordered the prime grand set for six people. Most of the meats are similar to the elite grand set, but the prime set doesn't include the wagyu cuts, which we were okay with. My dad was visiting for the weekend, so I decided to treat him to some kbbq for his birthday! I really like Nubiani, but I wanted to try somewhere different. When I found out Nubiani had an upscale sister restaurant, I knew this was the right place to go! The interior is really pretty and a lot nicer than Nubiani. I liked how simple the menu was. They only have beef packages, so we got the Quad package. Since we were only a table of three, it did end up being a little too much meat. I wasn't really impressed with the first three cuts, but I loved the last three short ribs! My favorite was the marinated short rib. The matcha ice cream was a great way to end the meal; it was so smooth and creamy. I did have a couple of complaints. The first was our server. He was so curt, and it really seemed like he did not want to be there. It's not really the kind of service I would expect from a high-end establishment. There were a couple misses with the food too. The kimchi stew was so acidic, like to the point where it was not enjoyable. The egg souffle also lacked seasoning, and it's not as fluffy as some other kbbq places'. Last issue were the seats. This is definitely just a short person problem, but the seats were so high that my feet were dangling. It just wasn't that comfortable. One thing to note is that they have a 10% cash discount, and they have an ATM at the front of the restaurant! I'm glad I tried this place out, but I don't see a need to come back.
