chose to dine here for our girlfriends birthday. they have been here before and said the first time was so memorable, they wanted us to experience it as well. we chose the pri fix menu some stand out dishes -scallop -lobster ramyun specifically for their noodle texture -lamb chops (upgraded) -shaved ice cream bingsu we also upgraded for their most popular oiji bowl and was very disappointed. upon first bite, I tasted a very foul, unfresh uni. friends tried it and agreed. mentioned it to the server, says chef agrees - doesn't think it is to his quality standard. sends us another bowl and although it was slightly better, you could still taste the uni tasting funky. I LOVE UNI and if this was my first time having uni, I would not be a fan. server apologized and asked what do we want him to do which was odd-- their most popular dish was unfortunately the worst and they could not compliment it. I think the service and the food is deserving of a Michelin star, but overall I feel the food fails on delivering its cuisine as a modern Korean-American contemporary fusion. I feel the chef sacrificed a lot by dumbing down their flavors to fit the "locale palette" when instead they should have been more stubborn and focused on producing "tasty" food instead. The food: The most notable dish was the chili lobster ramyun. The ramyun was delicious and chewy and pronounced the sesame flavor very well. The chili lobster was bland. If you've ever traveled out east to taste chili sauce, this is the water-downed version of it. The second most notable dish was the galbi, but it felt more like a well executed standard short rib steak. It felt the most American type of meal... without any Korean influence. Tasty, but lacking thematically. Other dishes were good, not great. (Fried rice was terrible, and the fish entree is incomplete in my opinion) I'm not going to say this Oiji Mi is bad (it's not), but it leaves a lot to be desired compared to what it could be. read more

Stopped by after a business meeting last night and took a seat at the bar. This was my first time at a 2-star Michelin spot, and I was curious what the difference would be. The food was precise, flavorful, and well balanced. The scallop was easily my favorite. The truffle brown butter and bean sprout broth complemented the dish beautifully, an unexpectedly strong pairing. The quality of the scallops was immediately apparent and they were cooked perfectly. The beef tartare on toast was also exceptional, light and well balanced, with the caviar complementing it beautifully. Galbi was a well-executed and satisfying dish. I chose the Pierre Gerbais Extra Brut from the sparkling wine list, which paired nicely and complemented everything without overpowering it. Service was both attentive and relaxed with pacing that felt just right. The space was polished and comfortable. Somewhere you can actually settle in and enjoy your time. Wonderful, elevated Korean dinner experience. I came for a celebratory meal and thought the tasting menu was the perfect way to try a little bit of everything. My favorites were the savory chappsal donut bite, striped jack "hwe" appetizer, and galbi entree. Surprisingly I also really enjoyed the lobster ramyun, which was simple yet so flavorful. I don't often dine at Michelin star restaurants, so my review might be biased, but we truly had a lovely time here. The staff members were especially friendly and attentive. We had a few allergies and all the substitutions were thoughtfully prepared. Absolutely loved this place! We went for a birthday dinner and everything was so good! It is a set dinner, so you get whatever the chef has in store for everyone. We did add on the oiji bowl and it was so beautiful and delicious. The flavors were so good together. We also really enjoyed the truffle scallop dish that evening. Food, service and ambiance were all great. I love the grandeur of the restaurant with the bar separated from the main dining area, and a good view of the kitchen which was white and clean with a homely feel. $150 per person tasting menu is fair for a Michelin, so I'm glad we got to try it. They have some cool supplements and upcharges for certain things like the oiji bowl with uni and shrimp. I think the flavors were great, and we didn't have one bad dish. The only reason I give this four stars and not five is because it's likely not a restaurant I'd go back to in NYC. Amazing Michelin starred restaurant in Chelsea. Absolutely loved each of our courses, but I would have to say, they excel in the appetizers and desserts department. While their entrees are still delicious, I wouldn't say they were particularly outstanding. However, their first round was very flavorful and left a great impression. Their donut dessert was also a perfect harmony of texture, sweetness, and a little saltiness. I wish they would have a popup just selling the donuts - I would eat it every day. Their Melon Fight Milk was also a very fun and delicious alcoholic drink. If you choose to get some drinks, I would highly recommend trying it. Their service was very clean and nice. They're very accommodating and always cleaning up your table after each course. Sitting near the door, it does get a bit cold in the winter. I ended up having to grab my coat from coat check in the middle of my meal because of how cold it got. Otherwise, the place is beautiful! Decided to try Oiji Mi after seeing people on tiktok talking about it! Super glad we decided to give it a try. This review is for July of 2025. We did the prefix menu and did the add on of the torched wagyu which was really good. The first course came with scallop and beef tartare which was delicious. For the second course I did the scallop and it was really good as well and my husband got the tuna which was good but we preferred the scallop a bit more. For the 3rd course we both do the noodles which was really good and skipped on the bowl. For the last course we did the sea bass which we both really enjoyed. For dessert we did the bingsu and donuts both were good but I was definitely super stuffed by then. We both really enjoyed the vibe and definitely the food at oiji mi! read more

We tried the tasting menu at Oiji Mi. The beef tartare had good texture and was paired with pear, noodles, and a cold broth that worked well together. The scallops in the mushroom soup were tender, though the overall seasoning felt a bit on the salty side. The fish course wasn't my favorite, as the seafood flavor felt slightly strong for my taste. The steak was well executed, with a pleasant bite and light char. We also ordered the seafood rice bowl with uni, sweet shrimp, and roe. The uni was fresh and sweet, and the dish was straightforward. Several dishes included black truffle. While it's clearly part of the restaurant's style, I personally didn't find that it added much to the flavors, and the truffle aroma was quite mild. My wife and I first dined at Oiji Mi several months before it was awarded its Michelin star in 2023. We finally returned for another meal and we were pleased to find that it's still terrific. We dined at a table in the bar area, instead of the main dining room, because I thought we'd just order à la carte, but the options on the five-course prices fixe menu are so appealing that we both went with it, instead. As before, the restaurant itself and the service are both impeccable. The bar area was surprisingly quiet, which we appreciated. The food hasn't changed much from the original menu, but that's a good thing. There were no missteps at all in that regard. As it was three years ago, the Oiji Bowl is one of my favorite dishes of all time. During a recent trip to Kyoto, I basically recreated the combination of rice, pickles and toppings at our hotel's breakfast buffet every morning, but the Oiji Bowl is next-level good. Taste was good. Quality and service were great. The 5-course prix-fixe was satisfying. The only qualm was that there wasn't any dish that I'd be inclined to return for. Overall it was a solid experience. Servers made sure the table was tidy and utensils were replaced after each course. They explained each dish and asked if everything was ok. I'm picky about the smell and fishiness of seafood, but the quality was perfect. My favorite dish was probably the 2nd course spicy bbq squid, which has a good kick. Visited for my anniversary. The food was all very good and well executed, but nothing felt too unique or groundbreaking. Service was good, but I was honestly expecting a little bit more from a Michelin-starred restaurant. The interior is very clean and nicely spaced out, so you're never fighting for room. A really interesting detail is how many bathrooms they have, and I especially liked the prototype-style drawings of all their dishes posted inside them. The restaurant is very swanky even though I came in very casual clothes I was still able to be seated with my reservation through Chase Open Tables. The waiter was super nice and accommodating. I had some last minute food restrictions by the doctor and they were able to suggest and replace the ingredients on the spot. The food itself was delicious, although I am not really a fan of the fixed meal full course style dinners it was still enjoyable. I did order an extra dish and I admit I could probably keep eating but I would say that I would be okay with not eating for the rest of the night. I would assume a normal American would still be hungry after the full course though. Love a place for modern Korean food as its always so refreshing! The ambience was chic and stylish with modern Art Deco and Asian decor. Now for the more interesting part the food! 1st Course: Beef Tartare, Spotted Prawn, and Gyeran-jjim. Everything was refreshing, and perfectly light. 2nd Course: Trout Hwe, Scallops, and Squash Blossom. I could have 2 more plates of all of these please. 3rd Course: Oiji Bowl, Chili Lobster Ramyun, and Jook. You absolutely must get the Oji Bowl! The amount of uni (sea urchin) they pack into that bowl is so much. The Lobster Ramyun was good! Jook was alright. 4th Course: Suckling Pig (for two). Oh this is where you fill up quickly and quietly. That little leg fills you up fast and they include perfect compliment sides to it as well. 5th course: Black Sugar Bingsu and Parfait. The Black Sugar Bingsu was literally deconstructed bubble tea... and love it! The Parfait is something you can skip on though it was boring. That was the only miss here! Service was on point they really made sure to they accommodated your needs, explained everything about the dishes and how to eat them. Now I have two favorite spots for this type of elevated Korean food, and luckily they are just couple blocks from each other. AMAZING you have to come eat here! I am itching for the chance to come back! I came here to catch up with an old friend and it happened to land on my birthday. It was pretty easy to make a reservation here. I like the format of the tasting menu here where it's 5 courses but you get to pick what you get for each course. I wish I had taken a picture of the menu from the day that I dined but just trust that everything was excellent. My friend and I both got the things that cost more on top of the base price: the oiji bowl and the lamb chops. The server told us that the lamb chops were sourced from the same farm as the French Laundry and that it's a recent addition to the menu. I was sucked into ordering it because I'm from California and have good memories at the French Laundry lol. With the addition of these two supplements, it ended up being like $300 per person though including tax and tip, which is double the base price lol BUT the steep price tag was so worth it. I was so impressed with everything that I ate here, but the stand out dishes were definitely the oiji bowl and the bing soo. My god the boba that came with the bing soo was the best boba that I've ever had. I wish me and my friend ordered two bing soos instead of getting one of the parfaits. On top of the amazing food, the interior design is stunning and the bathrooms were really nice. The complimentary cupcake for my birthday was also really good too like I was not expecting it to hit as hard as it did for a free dessert. Our group of 7 was able to try Oiji Mi during our most recent trip to New York and had a great experience! The meal started with a trio of amuse bouche - spotted prawn, beef tartare and gyeran-jjim. The steamed egg was hearty and flavorful - and you could taste all the components of shiitake broth, turnip and onion. I also really liked the spotted prawn which was very fresh. For the 2nd course, I picked the amberjack hwe but also got to try a little bit of the scallop, which is pan seared. Both were tasty but I definitely prefered the amberjack which was light and refreshing. For the 3rd course, I tried the Oiji bowl which comes at an additional cost. There was a hefty portion of uni, spotted prawn, ikura and cucumber. Every bite was so tasty! I also got a few bites of the lobster ramyun and black cod jook. Both were yummy but would definitely recommend the lobster ramyun if you don't want to pay the supplement. The 4th course was definitely the weakest. I got the galbi which came out a little dry. Our table also tried the sea bass and suckling pig - sea bass was good but nothing notable. I personally didn't love the suckling pig (which is also an additional cost) - the skin is not as crispy as what you get with Chinese suckling pig; the meat was also a little dry. For dessert, I got the parfait which I really enjoyed. The pluot sorbet was light and refreshing and the white peach was tasty. The oolong flavor in the tea also came through well. The menu is bright with Korean-forward flavors whilest blending in notes from beyond that builds to be vibrant and flavorful that excites. Favorite dishes include the lobster ramyun and oiji bowl, but everything was great and highly recommend the experience overall. (Beef Tartare: A) - A spectacular first bite that blends classic Asian comfort from the pickled radish with a popular western dish; the pickled radish carries in an acidic way that traditional capers would, and is overall a pleasant bite. (Egg Custard: A) - Silky smooth lusciousness of the egg paired with an intensity of umami coming from broth and mushroom; it's light and fluffy and simply enjoyable. (Prawn - S) - The recreation of a scallop using prawns as the meat and finger lime as the pearls is mesmerizing. Everything here is so delicate from the light gochugaru spice to the citrus "caviar" to the natural sweetness of the shrimp. (Oiji Bowl: A+) - Top notch seafood coming from the ikura, scallop, and lusciously sweet uni. What makes this bowl above all other chirashi is the comforting seaweed rice that has a decadent umami comfort to pair help bring out the jewels of the sea. (Galbi: A) - Pink, beautiful, and cooked to perfection with a flavorful wagyu jus. We ordered: - starter consisting of a beef tartare with caviar, shrimp, and a cold soup - second course: scallop and amberjack. I haven't been back to Oiji Mi since it was in east village. I'm glad I had the chance to check out the newer location! It's a set menu with a variety of elevated Korean bites. The decor inside is classy and the service is excellent. They were very accommodating to a pescatarian we had in our group. I highly recommend the scallop and Oiji bowl! The moment we stepped into the entry foyer we were greeted by the host and offered water as our table would be a few minutes. Following a short wait, we were seated in a great spot for 6. As my first Michelin star tasting experience, my expectations were blown out of the water. From the moment I first stepped foot in, we were greeted with elegance, warm lighting and wonderful scents. The atmosphere was giving old style Asian culture of greens and pinks almost reminding me of lily pads. We loved the option of getting a cocktail that we were both able to share. The fight milk came with little melon skewers and it was so light and creamy. Course one was a mix of three items. Each telling their own story. The beef tartare was wrapped in a pickled radish so it was smooth and acidic. The spotted prawn was in a lovely gochugaru vinaigrette so it was sweet with a lingering spice. But my favorite had to be the gyeran-jjim. It was like this lovely egg custard with a shiitake broth and onion foam. The flavors were warm and inviting. Course 2 was the scallop with brown butter truffle and a bean sprout broth. Cooked to perfection with that nice crisp sear. The kitchen also sent out a plate of their amberjack to try. It had a lovely spice to it and was wrapped with Granny Smith apples. Course 3 I chose the lobster ramyun. All the research I did on this spot, everyone said to choose this for their third course and my god it did not disappoint. Cold noodles in a lovely chili sesame sauce with bits of cucumber for freshness. I was absolutely blown away with it. The trick is to mix it altogether before consuming. Course 4 I ordered the sea bass which was such an amazing dish. They poured the broth over it in front of me cause who doesn't love a little show. There was this dried rice underneath that soaked up some of the broth so it was a blend of chewy and crispy and I can't get over how much I enjoyed that texture. There were also a bunch of Manila clams and scallops underneath the fish as well. It almost felt never ending. My friend ordered the galbi for her course. It was so tender and flavorful and the creaminess of the mashed potatoes pulled it all together. Course 5. The final one. We ordered the chapssal donuts and the black sugar bingsu. The donuts came with a crème fraiche ice cream. It was tart, creamy and the donut was light and chewy. It was a beautiful combo. The bingsu was so smooth, you'd be worried that I'd be crunch at first but it literally melts in your mouth. Overall this was an experience that I hope to one day relive again. I've been meaning to try Oiji Mi pre Michelin star award but never got round to it, but finally managed to! It was pretty easy and flexible to book on opentable and lots of early evening spots. I thought the layout of the restaurant was really interesting, with a bar / lounge facing the street and the main dining hall behind it. It was a relatively casual ambience for a one Michelin star which I appreciated. We got the prix fixe menu for $150 with the supplement of $35 for the Oiji bowl. Everything was excellent, well seasoned and thought out. We liked all the dishes, but the reason for the 4 Star was that nothing rlly stood out and the price was on the higher side for a one Michelin star restaurant. I did really enjoy the cold lobster ramyun however and their desserts were on point. I probably won't come back anytime soon unless they change their prix fixe menu! Food 4.5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Oiji Mi offers a refined Korean fine dining experience with thoughtful service and a sleek, elegant ambiance. I especially loved the Oiji Bowl--a beautifully balanced dish with creamy sea urchin, briny ikura, and perfectly seasoned seaweed rice. The Lobster Noodle was another standout, rich and savory with generous pieces of lobster and a depth of flavor. For the second course the scallop was creamy and fresh, and the fluke was delicate and clean-tasting--solid dishes overall. For the main course I tried the galbi, which was hearty and satisfying, though it didn't quite steal the show. First course appetizers were just okay in comparison to the mains. But the desserts--wow. The black sugar bingsu was a perfect ending: refreshing, not too sweet, with chewy tapioca and brown sugar notes. Really liked the milk tea flavor of the bingsu. My partner and I came to Oiji Mi for a double date with my sister and her husband, and it absolutely delivered. From the moment you walk in, the space feels art deco luxe in the best way. The service is polished and attentive - coats are checked, you're guided to your table, and everything feels thoughtful. I did find myself wishing we were a party of two so we could snag one of the cozy half-round booths. We opted for the seven-course holiday meal, which was outstanding. The dishes were deeply comforting - warm, savory Korean flavors, lots of broths, and food that genuinely warmed us up on a snowy night. Everything felt intentional and beautifully paced. We also did the non-alcoholic drink pairing, which was excellent. Each drink complemented the courses well - some sweeter, some more dry - and never felt like an afterthought. A special-occasion spot that actually lives up to the hype. We'd absolutely come back. read more

We made a reservation in the bar and lounge area to enjoy the a la carte menu and I really appreciated that we were still given a proper table. The complimentary coat check was a thoughtful touch. It made it much more comfortable without our work bags crowding the space. The ambiance in the lounge was elegant and refined, creating a great setting for the evening. We tried nearly everything on the menu, but the standout dishes were the beef tartare on toast, scallops, the signature Oiji bowl, and the dry-aged duck. This was one of the most memorable meals I've had in a while--the flavors were absolutely outstanding. My only critique would be the portion sizes, we all left still feeling a bit hungry. Service was phenomenal from start to finish. Highly recommend! read more

Came here for a wedding anniversary meal! Really enjoyed their amuse bouche course - delicate and flavorful and well thought out. Well deserved star. Service and ambiance is excellent. Each dish is well thought out and executed. Each course is well paced. Servers are super attentive. 1st Course Beef tartare wrapped in radish is excellent. Has the Korean bbq vibe, but cold. Flavors work well. Gyeran-Jjim broth had more mild and subtle flavors. Having this after the beef tartare made the Gyeran-Jjim seem bland. But the more you dig into it, it becomes more than just a palate cleanser, you notice the richness in the flavors. The spotted prawn - delicious and fresh. We added the caviar donut - let's just say this is an interesting mix of flavors. Is it good? Yes. Would I get it again? Probably not. 2nd Course Amberjack with Granny Smith and yuzu, very refreshing, almost like a bite size salad with a layer of fish. The winner is the scallop though. Cooked to perfection. The truffle butter adds additional elegance and elevation of aromas. We also got the supplemental Wagyu. The soy/ citrus sauce and the mushrooms work so well together. The side of Uni is an added bonus. The wagyu is so flavorful that it masks the taste of the Uni, if eaten in one bite. 3rd Course The 3rd course is the star. The Oiji Bowl is just WOW. How can you go wrong with fresh Uni, prawn, and ikura. The seaweed rice underneath is fantastic. The lobster ramyun might be one of my favorite dishes. The noodles have great texture and flavor. The lobster is the perfect addition to elevate the dish. 4th Course We shared the suckling pig. At this point, we were stuffed. The pig however had a delicious charred skin. The meat was super tender. The side of garlic rice was amazing. 5th Course We barely had room for desert. The donuts with side of ice cream was a perfect finish to the meal. Overall, the food is incredible. Our wine glasses were never empty. Staff was attentive. The pace of dinner was perfect. The two prefix dinners were $150pp - $300 for two. Our wine was $90+. With all the supplements, our bill was over $600. After tip, over $800. Definitely one of our favorite meals this year. read more

Got the prix fixe which had a couple of dishes we really loved, but some that were just okay so 4/5 stars overall. 1st course: I liked all 3 dishes but gyeran-jjim was by far my favorite! I thought the pumpkin soup had very uniquely blended flavors that went perfectly together and the extra crunch at the bottom of the dish was a nice touch. 2nd course: We opted for the bossam for 2 but wished we had picked one of the other options. While the bossam was tasty, we felt like we've had bossam at casual korean restaurants that were just as delicious or even better. They do provide raw oyster to eat with the bossam but they were very mild so we could not taste oyster at all when eating oyster+pork+condiments together. 3rd course: Oiji bowl was fresh but didn't stand out to us. But my bf's lobster ramyun was really excellent!! I loved the texture and flavor. 4th course: Bf's sea bass was fine but the fish was def a side character while the broth was the main character. We both liked my dry-aged duck a lot more than the sea bass. Duck was cooked exquisitely and I loooved the chewy potato dumplings personally. 5th course: Desserts were lowkey my favorite part of this meal. Given 3 options and only 2 people, we had a hard time choosing which 2 we would try so we ended up ordering the 3rd a la carte so we could try them all. Chapssal donuts were hands down our favorite!! I thought the black sugar bingsu was tasty too - although I feel like it's not hard to get tasty bingsu in a casual setting, I thought the black tea cream on top of the shaved ice was a really nice touch and we liked that the boba came on the side so that it didn't get cold/hard on the ice. Basque cheesecake we both thought had too much yuzu flavor which was overpowering. Otherwise I really loved the texture, just wished we could've tasted more of the actual cheesecake flavor. read more

Food: wow , Korean reimagined. All the flavors of garlic, pear. Bean paste etc but not what your eye sees. The food is creative and delicious. The 5 course dinner was very well proportioned and not creamy but it had all the components of onion, garlic, seafood with crunch, color and umami. I loved it. Desserts were surprisingly delectable since most Korean desserts are quite boring but the boba and shaved ice was soooo good. Ambiance: it's a bit hip for us. The music was a bit loud and the crowd is a bit young and not dressed for the occasion. That's the only thing you sold yourself short on. Insist that you have a dining experience. Dress to the experience. This is a great establishment. There has to be a balance between hip and classy. 2 tasting menu, plus a galbi ($67) and 1/2 bottle of wine ($185) and 20% tip for $900. The suckling pig with lettuce wrap was our favorite. It's a must try in NYC. read more
