Tried this spot for Restaurant Week and had a great experience. The $60 three course menu is a really good value. You get to choose three appetizers, two mains, and one dessert, so it's a great way to try a variety of dishes, especially if you're sharing. The service was friendly and attentive, even though the restaurant was pretty busy. We did have to wait about 20 minutes past our reservation before being seated, but everything went smoothly after that. What I got: - Asparagus Japchae: Very good - instead of traditional Japchae noodles, it's sliced asparagus and mushroom. The marinate was delish! - Shrimp Pancake: It was more like an omelette. Not so much of the actual pancake batter. - Spicy Fried Chicken: Nicely fried, standard. The spicy sauce is on the side, which allows us to adjust our bite. - Bossam: I enjoyed this! More Bossam pieces than lettuce, but overall taste of the meat was good. It didn't have the "bland pork" taste. - Pyongyang Cold Noodle: This was my first time having this dish. Short Review- Outstanding Restaurant Week Menu. Get the Hoe Muchim, Yukhoe, Gangjeong, Galbi-Jjim, and if you want to be very full, the Pyongyang Cold Noodle. I went back to this Korean spot with a group for their $60 Summer Restaurant Week menu, which I'll abbreviate as RW from now on. I was not expecting the biggest portions as the menu is a bit pricey, but I was surprised in a good way. Compared to the regular menu, this is a fantastic deal, being both high quality and with large portions. You can see the previous review regarding the nice space, which is from a converted library. The only distinction this time was that they were much more crowded. The server was friendly, though he did rather haphazardly drop off all of the appetizers instead of giving them to the specific people who ordered them, leading to a bit of confusion. To drink, I shared a bottle of 24% Soju Dokdo, which another person had ordered at the bar prior to me arriving during happy hour. As per the other time before we got the other courses, they gave us some kimchi as well as a cold soup as an amuse bouche. The soup consisted of cucumber, tomato agar jelly, basil oil, and Korean pear. The soup is refreshing, cold, slightly herbal, and a little bit sweet, and worked perfectly to whet our appetite. The RW menu that followed consisted first of one choice each from three different options: vegetable, sea, and meat. Afterwards, there was a choice of main and a side dish, and then dessert. From the appetizers, my vegetable choice was the Lotus Root Gangjeong/연근강정, a pair of fried lotus root slices with a mild sweetness, presumably from rice syrup/물엿. The lotus root had a light fry, with a mild crunch, but it was the most basic of the dishes. Other people enjoyed the Asparagus Japchae/아스파라거스잡재 and the Acorn Jelly/도토리묵. I tried the latter, and it was refreshing and tasty with an interesting mix of textures. Compared to the other appetizers, this was also the only course without a supplement, which makes sense since it was vegetables. From the sea section, I ordered a dish I got last time, the Hoe Muchim/회무침, listed on the menu as seasonal fish, gochujang, and soybean powder, which all came with kim/seaweed for DIY handrolls. The dish is normally $24, and of course, the portion was slightly smaller, but it was still sizable. As this was the case with the other dishes, I won't mention that again. The fish in this case was raw salmon, which was buttery, and paired with the crunchy vegetables, the sweet/spicy/mildly fermented gochujang, and the nutty soybean powder. Another person enjoyed the Shrimp Pancakes/새우전, saying that there was plenty of shrimp inside, and no one ordered the $5 extra Abalone Salad/전복냉채. Finally, for meat, I went with the Yukhoe/육회, the Korean version of beef tartare with Korean pear and egg yolk, which is normally $28. The meat was tender with a mild fragrance from sesame oil and a bit of sweetness from the paired, well, pear. No one got the Spicy Fried Chicken/닭튀김, while someone else splurged and loved the $5 extra Beef Cheek Suyuk/소뽈살수육. For my main dish, as with a few others as per my recommendation, I went with the $10 extra Galbi-Jjim/갈비찜. Normally $52, this had soy-braised prime beef, Pyogo mushrooms, some potatoes, and some tteok. The short ribs were very tender, with some fat that was flavorful without being too chewy. The broth wasn't as sweet as some other places, with a delightful little bit of spiciness. This was outstanding, just like last time. Others enjoyed the Bossam/보쌈 and the Squid Stir Fry /오징어볶음, with no one getting the Tofu Mushroom Hot Pot/두부버섯전골. As a side, my choice was the Mushroom Sotbap/버섯솥밥, which is $10 extra, but shared between two people. Normally for $38, this had golden queen rice, mushrooms, foie gras, and a beef broth, and just like during normal service, they present the full pot before dividing it up. The rice had a strong umami with a bit of crunch from the scorched part, and was delicious like last time. Another person liked the Seasonal Vegetable Bibimbap/산채비빔밥, and one other had the portion of Pyongyang Cold Noodle/평양냉면, with the broth poured at the table. The portion was noticeably gigantic compared to every other dish, and the bit of broth I tried was delicious. For dessert, there were two choices. I got the Korean Melon/참외 with coconut and manchego cheese. The dish was well composed, with a granita/ice made from melon, some coconut sorbet on the bottom, and a very mild cheesy flavor. It was refreshing. A few had the Burdock/우엉 with burdock ice cream, chocolate mousse, and burdock chips. They found it mildly bitter with a bit of nuttiness, and one person liked it, and the other did not. I tried a bit, and I thought it was decent, but I preferred my dessert. Went during restaurant week with 3 people. We were able to try a lot of the options. The food was really good and had a nice variety of things. The service was nice. The inside of the restaurant was very interesting. One of the best things was the galbi jim it was a upcharge. If you want the mushroom rice it counts towards two people's side but it wasnt that big which didnt make sense and what happens if only one person wants it or goes alone. Not a fan of having to force to people to get an item to share. The dessert was ok and not a fan of the drink pairing with the food. read more

There were just a couple of things that kept this from being a full 5 stars. My 5 year old was required to order an entrée. We were planning to order one anyway, but I still found it a bit unusual. I also requested a birthday candle with dessert for our celebration when I made a reservation, but unfortunately the request wasn't acknowledged. Despite those minor disappointments, we had a wonderful experience. The food and service really stood out, and I would definitely bring visiting friends and family here. Have you ever had a meal and you never wanted it to end? That was me for this meal. I would come back here in a heart beat and when I do, I can't wait to try the other items on the menu!!! Galbi-jjim and mushroom sotbap is literally a match made in heaven. The galbi-jjim was perfectly tender like I could literally pull it apart with my chopstick. The addition of the rice cake, pumpkin, and pyogo mushroom were a nice touch. The soy sauce base was a little sweet and if you take a bit and pour it over the mushroom sotbap, it is soooooooo good!!!!!!! The mushroom sotbap is so umami. There is foie gras in it which maybe be in a little overpowering for some people but I really enjoyed it I could easily eat a whole bowl of their freshly made kimchi. It was perfect. The only thing that I thought was a bit of a shame is that there's a $10 cake cutting service PER PERSON, if you wanted to celebrate a birthday. I walked in a few min early and still waited 15 min to be seated after res time and another 20 min for my order to be taken, so I really wanted to hate this place. Besides their initial service being incredibly slow, this place was phenomenal. Came for the restaurant week menu and I'm leaving with leftovers somehow. The soup with jellies to start was perfectly light and refreshing. Kimchi was delicious and I actually liked that it isn't as fermented tasting as normal kimchis. The lotus root is fried with a light glaze and is honestly so yummy and comforting because it's so hot. Shrimp pancakes were light and perfect with the sauce. The fried chicken was such a miss for me though, but maybe it's because I am never a huge fan of chicken on the bone. The sauce it came with was delicious though. I really should've just gotten the yukhoe instead. I fear half of the people I have on beli got the yuhoe and the other half got the fried chicken and raw beef still scares me a little, so I chose the chicken. Got the galbi-jjim and it was SO tender and flavorful. Cooked perfectly and so good just wow. Was gonna get the pyongyang cold noodle, but they ran out by 8:30 pm, so I got the vegetable bibimbap and it was also solid. The Burdock dessert was so good and I absolutely destroyed mine. Got the prix fixe and the amount of the food you get is insane. Quality of service has stayed the same but now they don't walk around to give you the gutjeori from a stone pot and they mix your rice for you and serve it now from the kitchen instead of mixing it at your table. You get to make your own ssam (wraps) with this beautiful spread! The fish was insanely fresh and my mind kept getting blown with each bite. The Mushroom Sotbap is a hot rice pot dish. The main meal came with 10 ban chan, soup of the day, and two main entrees. The ban chan tasted pretty mediocre, but loved the presentation and all the options! For our entrees we chose the grilled fish (mackerel) and galbi-jjim. The fish was cooked well, but very simple so probably would pass on this. The galbi was very delicious and worth paying an extra $10. For two people you can choose a sotbap, so we opted for the mushroom which was very tasty. Finally, for dessert we ordered the buldock and chestnut ice cream. Overall, I think this is a great place to celebrate a special occasion! Our breaths bated we squirmed in our seats as we waited for the king to make his entrance. The sound of clothes softly rustling against themselves was broken only by the quiet murmur of the ladies in court. I love Moono! This is the second time I've been & both for a birthday, which they do give a scoop of ice cream to the person whose birthday it is. Their buckwheat ice cream is phenomenal! Also, the entrance is pretty inconspicuous, if you don't look closely you can just walk past it but the inside is gorgeous and lively. The service is amazingly attentive, the server noticed our kimchi getting low and would constantly replenish it without us asking. I LOVED their kimchi. It tasted like a beef broth and it paired well with the kimchee. The only thing was the noodles were heavy and needed to be cut because it was hard to pick it up. The chopsticks are heavy too. One of my favorite Korean restaurants in Manhattan! The inside is beautifully decorated and the food is really good. It is definitely pricey though, so best for special occasions. I love the way they sliced the beef for the yukhoe super thin and the marinade was not so strong that you couldn't taste the flavor of the beef. The hoe muchim had a spicer, tangy sauce that had a lot of flavor. The fried chicken is extra crispy and the chicken is probably brined because you can taste the flavor throughout the meat. Their kimchi is also super fresh and delicious. The mushroom sotbap is honestly too expensive for what it is but I enjoyed eating it with the galbi jjim. I feel like the foie gras didn't really add anything special to the dish. The galbi jjim is a must get and probably their best dish. It was so tender and flavorful. The dessert wasn't too sweet, which I liked, but it wasn't anything too special. I will say the seating was a bit awkward because they sat my party at a big booth with another group. I recently tried three course menu from Moono Food: It was a clear highlight of the dinner. Galbijim was delicious, rich and flavorful. It was definitely a standout dish I would try again. Quality of the ingredients was high. Every bite was fresh. Appetizer was delicious. They come as a bite size. Banchans were also rich and flavorful. What surprised me was that I couldn't taste any artificial ingredients!! Space was modern and warm. It has nice sleek wood tables, soft lighting and a calm atmosphere. First off, this place is decorated beautifully. It's so elegant and serene, and I love the subtle nods to Korean architecture and design throughout the restaurant. It's stunning. The food is too notch too. We had the mung bean pancake and this is one of my favourite things to get at the Korean markets -- crispy on the outside, savoury, and soft inside. So good. And then we got the uni sotbap, which is made for two people and it was so perfect. So delicious. Food was really delicious with elevated premium ingredients. We opted to order a la carte: Assorted Korean Pancakes: 9/10 would get this again. Korean Makhoe: 10/10 we got 3 different types of fish (2 from Jeju, one from Japan) with a variety of wrap options like seaweed, lettuce, perilla leaf, garlic and a very fragrant sauce. Bossam: 8/10 meat was very tender, LOVE the kimchi, but I've had a lot of Bossam and though the meat was good, it wasn't a standout for me. Tteokgalbi: 7/10 don't get me wrong..this was VERY good and the meat was cooked medium rare in the middle which was very tasty but i thought the sauce was just a touch too sweet and the rice cake gets too hard when it cools. Came here on the recommendation of a friend & loved the dining experience! The interior is beautifully decorated & our server was amazing and so attentive. For the food, we decided to go with the prix fixe ($75 per person) since we heard the 10 types of banchan is a highlight and a la carte only comes with kimchi. I was so taken with how each dish was presented so esquisitely, like a piece of art. It's hard to pick a favorite & I loved having so many different things to try. For the rice, we upgraded one to mushroom and one to uni which I highly recommend. It just adds another depth of flavor to the dish. And even I, who typically do not like uni, couldn't resist the creaminess it brought to the scorched rice. We were then finished off perfectly with a set of petit fours. The interior really is the big pull, it's gorgeous: vaulted ceilings with backlit artwork and tasteful wooden details. Service and food are both good but not great. Food itself was beautiful like the space, but taste wise fell a bit short for me. The fried chicken and mushroom softbap were the highlights. The beef tartare was a bit bland, as was the noodle dish. And the raw scallop dish was fine, scallops are always tasty in my book, but these weren't memorable. Cocktails were fine too, nothing memorable. Service was alright. Not fine-dining level for sure. Although we were told refills were available, we had to ask multiple times and waited so long that they arrived after we'd basically finished eating, which was disappointing. I was so excited to try Moono since Jua is one of my favorite restaurants and they're sister restaurants. Overall, the service and ambiance were great, but the food was a bit of a letdown. We went as a party of 7 and there was a $100 per person minimum plus a 20% gratuity. Since our group didn't really drink, we honestly struggled to meet the minimum, even after ordering literally everything on the à la carte menu. We explained the situation to our servers, and they were incredibly gracious and told us not to worry, which we really appreciated. Truly, the service was amazing from start to finish. As for the food: the mung bean pancake, Pyongyang cold noodles, and the branzino were pretty mid and I'd probably skip those. The standouts were the galbi gim, which was very delicious, and the mushroom sotbap, which was excellent. Unfortunately, they ran out of the uni sotbap, which was one of the dishes I was most excited about. Dessert was a pleasant surprise. The buckwheat and burdock desserts were so good we were literally scraping the spoons clean. Lastly, the ambiance was really beautiful. The space felt very posh and unexpectedly elegant, which definitely elevated the experience. Came here for a special mother's Day brunch and I was wowed - from the front door entrance, into the interior, and by how accommodating and friendly the staff were. This was certainly a treat. Instead of a la carte, this day was prefixed so everything was set, which for this day, was nice not to think too much. For a table of three adults and a babbling baby, we ordered the fish, pork, and duck as a main. The meal began with what I'll call curated "intro bites" to open up the appetite. When the main meal came, there was an assortment of delicious banchan brought out together. We couldn't finish it all. For the mains, the fish was my favorite. Soft, pillow like bites, and super appropriate to share with the little one. Bonus to the space were their baby chairs. My babes sat solidly in the seat, no jumping out or loose buckles. Went here on a Wednesday for a birthday dinner Ambiance is great, interior decor is stunning, drinks from the bar at the entrance were great. Only issue is that some of the dining room tables are very close together, we basically heard the entire conversation of the table next to us the entire night Food was decent, some highlights, but generally overpriced for what you're getting Service was really, really bad. We waited 15 minutes before our server came to take our order, and then ended up waiting an hour for our food. During this time, our server checked on us a total of 0 times. Our meal--only three dishes for two people--took 2 hours to complete. Even weirder, the two hot entrees came out first, with our cold noodle coming out 20 mins later. Gorgeous interior, awesome service, great menu offerings... it makes sense why this place is always packed. They took care of my dietary restrictions and I had a wonderful meal. I got a chance to try pretty much everything on the menu, and I loved close to everything....except the "Pyongyang cold noodles". When it comes to Korean cold noodles, you could be on team regular flour vs. buckwheat flour, but there's always consensus on the broth being sweet, tangy, and refreshing. This broth was just... wrong. It has the beef broth element and that's it. Huh? I truly don't get it. I'd definitely return in the future but there's no way I'd order that cold noodles again haha read more

I heard great things about this spot and was super excited to try, this place did not disappoint. I tend to be a little apprehensive on an Asian restaurant that seems to be "fancier" dining. The interior was gorgeous and the prices were not outrageous, a little more than a typical K-town restaurant but nothing crazy. They do have a happy hour sun-thur offering discounts apps and drinks. We ordered the galbi jjam, assorted pancakes, hoe muchim, and bossam. The galbi is a must, the broth is so tasty and the ttbeokki in it that soaks up the flavor, I need more of that. The galbi is so tender and melts in your mouth. At $50 it seems pricey but it is well worth it. The assorted pancakes is not what we expected, it was more like meat jun style if you are familiar, basically battered in egg. The shrimp patty one was so good and would love more of that but overall I would say skip this dish. The Hoe muchim was one of the best things I have had. It's like a Korean ceviche. It's refreshing with a bit of a kick and a great way to start the meal. I have had this previously when it was served with yellowfin and both times were delicous. Bossam was good but nothing to write home about, I would skip this for next time. I would 100% return to this spot and order the galbi jjam and hoe muchim every single time. read more

Moono has the best indoor vibes for sure. The middle tree and sky lights make it seem like it's a nice afternoon even when it's dark outside. Highly recommend the Uni Sotbap. They are generous with the quantity of uni, and the umami flavor once everything is mixed together is perfection. Also highly recommend the cold noodles as the broth is both fresh and flavorful. Why 2 stars : I enjoyed the food, but two points that I had a hard time justifying were the sool pairing & the lack of care for the food I took home. 1. I would avoid the sool pairing at all costs. What I received was: - 1-2 oz of something similar to sake - 2-3 oz. of a shochu like drink Not worth a $40 price point, and the pairings were overly dry and not complementary to the food IMO. 2. I had my food packed before I got too full for dessert. When it was packed, they only packed the protein, rice, and kimchee. - the remaining 13 bowls from the bossam were not packaged. Considering it was 1 of 2 entrees and relatively untouched, it was extremely disappointing to realize that they had just trashed it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is true to what you see online, and table-side service was good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I can't justify $300 when one of the entrees is thrown away, and the drinks are literal sips and not paired well in my opinion. read more
