I came here a few times back then with my partner and all the other times were great. Unfortunately this things noticeably different. The kimchi portions were smaller even though you get unlimited supply. The beef to tofu ratio (in the stew) was very uneven as it was mostly tofu. Also service was not up to par and not very attentive. Sure it is a decent spot in the lively area of ktown and the food was good but the changes were there.

i really wanted kalguksoo this one day so i went here for lunch! and it was so good for the cold. broth was so warm and i love noodles so this dish was such a big hit for me! banchans were also really good!

I've been to many Korean restaurants before but I'm disappointed with this one. First of all, the banchan was so limited compared to others and the portion was so small for 3 or 4 people. It wasn't automatically refilled or even asked if we wanted more. We need to flag them several time. The food themselves were ok, I am not too impressed. I found that the sauce of fried chicken was way too much, the japchae over the rice was soggy and the silk tofu soup was so so. It' was such a disappointment :(

A decent Korean place. I was pretty happy with the curry pork. And the chicken wings and pancake were fairly standard but good. They did close the kitchen without warning over an hour before closing, which sorta sucks. Overall, there wasn't anything special, but also nothing bad either. Solid 4 stars.

I hadn't been here in years but recently went for dinner because my mom had specific dishes in mind and Five Senses had everything checked off on her little list. It was brightly lit inside and service was prompt enough, whenever you could flag a server down. - Kimchi Fried Rice - this was good, we ordered it a second time without cheese which everyone liked better - LA Galbi - the meat was really tender and flavorful, ordered it twice - Budae Jigae - for $27 the portion was sooo small - Korean Fried Chicken - not that crispy or saucy, there's better elsewhere - Kimchi Pancake - wished it was crispier, ours was really doughy and soft

One thing I love about New York is you can have a list of a billion places to try and yet always strike up a new place by chance. I stayed near K-town and we were looking for something quick before going to a concert in brooklyn and then CLICK BOOM we stumbled upon Five Senses. The restaurant is very laid back, like going to someone's house for a meal. The food was great for what we needed but just alright. The pork cutlet was way tougher than it should be and the soup was quite bland but it came with about 6 different banchans which we lovvvve to see. The portions were also huge and the soup came with plenty of rice cake though I wished a little more short rib had been added since we paid extra. The fast came out fast and we were in and out. A lot of places close between that weird 2 hrs of 2-4pm so glad to find them. What we got Pork cutlet Rice cake & dumpling soup with short rib $ Food 6 Atmosphere 5 Service 7

This is a decent spot to go to if other restaurants in the area are too packed. I wanted some korean food and definitely wanted get some sort of soup. This place felt pretty big and my friend and I got a really decent table so all good there. The budae jigae was better than the spicy pork because it had a lot of flavor and I typically like soup dishes from korean spots more in general. The banchan is ok, it has multiple items with a little more than some restaurants offer but I only cared for about half of them. The service is quick, it's a convenient location in ktown, and I know there are other things I'd order off this menu so I'll be back but it's not some amazing restaurant I try to go to every couple of months or crave when I want korean food. But another option for anyone who hasn't been or needs a spot because other places are busy.

    Yakult drink (complimentary)

Ordered: Soy Garlic Chicken Wings - 8pc (~$25) Beef SoonDooBu (~$20): soft tofu stew with side of white rice Ban chan (complimentary) Yakult drink (complimentary) Aya's take: We were in the area looking for a cozy, soothing meal and since it's been a while since I had soondoobu, I was really craving some. We were seated right away although most tables were taken at 8:30pm on a Sunday. We started with their ban chan which was fine but nothing special. I like that they had fish tofu as an option here, that was my favorite part. The Beef SoonDooBu had a rich, spicy broth that was super savory and umami. There was plenty of soft tofu which I loved. However, the beef portion was so tiny! And a lot of the pieces we got were entirely fat. They skimped out on the protein which considering all the competition on the block, you wouldn't do that. The Soy Garlic Chicken Wings were crunchy and piping hot. The soy garlic glaze could've been more evenly coated since some bites just had no flavor at all. Typically, this would be served with some pickled radish but this one wasn't. The combination of these 2 dishes was definitely filling and satisfying. They offer a small bottle of Yakult which is a nice way to end the meal. Good try!

Stopped by on the way back to hotel after bars hopping. Great place to recoup and recharge with delis foods. Located near Times Square and sat at the community table. Ordered bunch of foods and it was very tasty and flavorful. Great & quick services. Definitely will come back when in the area.

I came here specifically for their variety of tteokbokki options and ended up choosing the rose tteokbokki since I can't handle spicy food too well. It was a great choice--creamy and flavorful, almost like a Korean-style pasta. The sauce was rich without being too heavy, and it came with fresh mushrooms, sausage, a perfectly cooked egg, and those delightfully chewy rice cakes. Everything was well-balanced and satisfying. The space is clean and surprisingly roomy, and the service was kind and attentive without being overbearing. Great spot if you're craving tteokbokki but want more than just the standard red sauce version. I'll definitely be back to try other variations!

nice spacious restaurant in ktown! we ordered the chicken soup for a warm pick me up :-) pretty pricey for a simple soup, but it was very delicious and warming. we didnt get much of an attentive service, but maybe thats just new york city for ya. bonchon were smaller potion sizes and we didnt get refills, but it was tasty.

5/5 Banchan - variety and quality were great! 5/5 Seafood Tofu Stew - had a generous amount of seafood, broth had great flavor without being overly spicy 4.5/5 Bulgogi Ddukbaegi - a slightly sweet umami broth with loads of bulgogi and tteok!

I ordered a beef rib soup that was $26 before tax. The bowl looked pretty big, but there were only three pieces of meat and very little noodles. I was seated near the kitchen, and every time the server pushed the cart out, it bumped into my chair at least three times during the dinner with no apology even once There was barely any service the whole time, they didn't even pour water.

The effortless tranquility encourages you to slow down, enjoy the food, and get away from the everyday, hubbub. Their menu leans into fusion dishes with a nod to some of the classic home-style classics. Everything is presented with a refined, elevated touch. Here's what we ordered: ~ Tako Wasabi - 5/5 stars A fiery delight. This appetizer feartures chopped raw octopus marinated in wasabi. It has a lively zest from the wasabi and is topped with tobiko, which adds a pleasant contrast in texture. ~ Honey Makgeolli - 4/5 stars A traditional fermented Korean beverage that is light and pairs brilliantly with your meal. It is a cloudy alcholoic drink served in a metal teapot, and surprisingly, there is much more in that teapot than you would expect. It easily provides six to eight generous pours. The flavor is subtly sweet with a pleasant tang. ~ Temaki Set - 4/5 stars You can order a set of three by choosing from selections 1-17, or you can order a la carte at the listed prices. Some of the temaki stood out more than others. Our two sets included marinated salmon, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy bluefin, and two dynamite temaki. ~ Spicky Pork Ssam Set - 5/5 stars Truly another standout entree that even surpassed my beloved grilled BBQ bossam. You received a generous basket of assorte greens, including romaine, kale, perilla leaves, dandelion leaves, nappa cabbage, and more. It is well worth the price and makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your family and friends. There is also various banchan offered and this time, they were beyond kind enough to offer refills. The last time we were here, we ordered just as much food and they stated they normally did not offer refills, which I thought was very odd. With its casual bougie aesthetics, this spot has quickly become one of my favorite eateries in Fort Lee-lee, It beautifully blends Korean, Japanese, and American flavors in a way that feels both comforting and elevated. Needless to say, we will be back!

When asked what her thoughts are midway through the meal, she responded, "It isn't bad, but it isn't great." I understood her completely. One last thing, the ice cream dessert needs an upgrade with the presentation. When the plate was presented to us, I couldn't help myself and chuckled. I asked my buddy if she too thought that the dried strawberries looked like cat food. She laughed, knowing exactly what I meant. By golly, it's like eating kibble! I ordered the soju flight but I ended up not liking it so my cousins shared it. The meal comes with different veggies as well as your choice of soup. We got the spicy tofu and split it 6 ways. The spice lived up to its name, so I didn't eat very much. The best part was meat. Despite there being 6 of us, there was plenty to go around. I think you have the option to cook it yourself or have them cook it for you and we chose the latter. While I enjoyed it, I wish there was more space. Most of the space was taken up by the accompaniments that come with it (veggies, etc), so there was hardly any room to put anything else. It didn't help that none of our dishes were cleared once we finished them and that no rice is included. Aside from that, both the food and service were great.

But there's no denying that BCD has upped their soondubu game considerably in the last decade+ with a thicker, more deeply flavored broth, and now easily rivals my longtime favorite and gold standard, the OG So Kong Dong in Fort Lee. Then I stumbled into a hack that changed my view: lunch! I ducked in for a late lunch on a whim while walking by one day, and this turned out to be a much chiller hour, unhurried and no reservation needed. I was promptly seated, my order taken, and the banchan swiftly laid out. The banchan spread is solid across the board (the little fried fish does nothing for me, but seems to be a highlight for everyone else). I especially love the kimchi, near-perfect IMO, and the pickled cucumber. There's a modest lunch discount, which is a nice bonus for someone who likes to order aggressively. I usually get an oyster, seafood, or assorted soondubu (with a raw egg cracked in), danger spicy of course! Or go the C1 combo route with a galbi (marinated bbq beef short ribs) + smaller soondubu. It's an enormous amount of food, so I take most of the galbi home and feel no shame about it. The galbi, by the way, has also gotten noticeably better over the years - meatier, tender, and the flavor is on point. I've also enjoyed their bibimbap, bulgogi, jap chae, and seafood pancake. Finally, let's talk heat - this chili-head loooves fire! And BCD's danger level is one of the rare instances where the spice level actually meets my punishing tolerance for heat, not some pretense at "American spicy.," despite this being a chain. Their danger level actually means business and brings tears to my eyes, literally. It's still not my favorite place ambience wise, and dinner remains a contact sport I've mostly opted out of, as gone are the days that I can tolerate a culinary mosh pit, and any wait longer than 10 minutes (and only for a superlative place) will trigger an automatic ejection of my presence. I went with my sister and my daughter. We ordered the beef combo for 2 and a seafood pancake. The portion was just right. The quality of the beef was pretty good and was cooked to perfection (I requested for medium-rare). My sister had her portion cooked to well done since she is currently pregnant and didnt want to risk having any problems (not everything ended up being well done though). I personally prefer the pancake from elsewhere but it was not bad. My picky daughter really liked it. The combo came with a steam egg and boy was that good. Our meal ended with a yummy ice cream for each of us. This meal however made a pretty big dent in my wallet. It was my fault for not checking the menu before heading in. I didnt want to walk any further with my toddler and my pregnant sister since it started raining outside.

Good portion sizes for the 2-person shared BBQ lunch- be it Bulgolgi beef, stewed soup, or Banchan…read morewith 6 varieties of small dishes. Soup and Banchan both receive high marks for how good they taste. Also ordered a separate beef short rib lunch special, the rib was cooked to perfection and the sauce applied was very flavorful. Servers were friendly and mostly attentative, restaurant decors and cleanliness of interiors and bathrooms were quite good. Would come back again next time in the Herald Square area.
