It's 2025, and this restaurant still sneaks in a 20% tip--for a party of two--without informing us? Completely unacceptable. There was zero service to justify it, and no one mentioned the charge up front. The food was equally disappointing. The sweet and sour pork was bland, and the black bean noodles were just mediocre--nothing memorable. We ended up paying nearly $50 per person for subpar food and no service, which is outrageous. To make it worse, the restaurant uses Shanghai in its name, yet delivers none of the quality we Shanghainese stand for. Definitely not coming back!

Love this Korean Chinese food spot. The noodles have such a good chew and I can't find another spot around the area with such quality Jjajangmyun. The sauce coats the noodles well and I always finish my bowl. Food is very consistent. Been here several times already. The service is pretty quick and you get the basic kimchi and yellow radish side dishes which you can't really go wrong with. Unlimited hot tea or water which is great. The staff are friendly and helpful. Dim lighting, good amount of space. The place has been around for a while so there is a worn feel but it's homey. When in ktown and craving Korean Chinese, this is the spot to go to!

I came here late night to grab some food and it was alright. The inside of the restaurant is really casual, dimly lit, and vibey. Service was alright. We got the K-Town special, which had jjajjangmyeon, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk, as well as some vegetarian noodles. Both dishes were alright. My friends thought that the vegetarian noodles were SUPER bland. Overall, don't think I would come back

This is the most authentic jajangmyeon that I ate in Koreatown NYC....

So far this is the most authentic jajangmyeon that I tasted in Koreatown NYC. It's really good!!

visited this restaurant late at night when a lot of other places in Koreatown were closed. The outdoor area was very pleasant and cute for a summer night patio restaurant experience. The service was attentive and prompt. Be aware that tip is automatically included. The food was good. The dumplings tasted fine, and so did the garlic shrimp with rice. The portions were big, but the entrées were definitely somewhat pricey. The shrimp was $32.

I recently came here for lunch and my overall experience was a very pleasant one. I like their creative menu. I had JJam + JJa + Tang which is Black Beam Noodles, JJampong and Sweet and Sour Pork or Chicken. I get to enjoy two kinds of noodles and crispy and delicious pork. This is what I call "Trifecta"! :). In addition to that, their outstanding service in a very comfortable environment. This is exactly how I want to enjoy my meal in New York City. :)

Decent spot. Does the job if you're hungry. Lol I ended ip here by accident after getting stuck in the area. My friend wanted to hit up the Thai festival, but after we walked not even 10 feet, the lines to get anything was so ridiculous we had to pivot. We shared a few items that were not memorable at all. The only thing I liked was the rice. The garlic chicken was decent, but it wasn't nearly as spicy as we assumed it would be.

A well advertised SOJU bar is what I would call this place. Situated in K-town, Shanghai Mong was empty and we were skeptical on this place. The service was good and the menu was huge and a little overwhelming. Our order: Veggie DUmplings Garlic Shrimp Jjampong Soondubu Kimchi friend rice Bi Bim Bap Bokum Jjamppong Watermelon/Peach SOJU Loved their spice levels and that made the Kimchi fried-rice very good. Dumplings were perfect. The Jjamppong and Bi Bim Bap were they highlight of the order. The quantity was large and filling. The best part were the SOJU. It is the GOOD DAY SOJU and we loved the Peach, Lychee and watermelon soju. They should emphasize more on Sojus.

This is a great spot for dinner if you ever find yourself in K town with no reservations and 40+ minute wait time. The restaurant had a nice vibe attracting a mix of older and younger adults. Food was also pretty good, and there is a variety / fusion of asian food on the menu. Our plates all came out at different times, but it might not be a big deal for you if you are doing it family-styled. Otherwise, my friends and I were happy we found this spot to grab a quick dinner!

I wanted to find a nice restaurant that was affordable in Korea Town and this was a great choice for that. The interior was colorful and cute. My friend and I were given comfortable booth seating by the entrance. The place offered combination specials for around $20, and I selected the one with Sweet and Sour Pork, Jja Jang Myun (black bean noodles), as well as Seafood Soup, which I requested to be mild. This came in a lovely plate with separations and middle part, which had a pork fried dumpling on top. The dumpling was really well made, had a nice crunch, and plenty of meat filling. My favorite dish was the Sweet and Sour Pork, made with pineapple, onion, red and green pepper. This had beautiful depth of flavor from the both salty and sweet sauce. The pork was lightly breaded and perfectly crispy, while still being tender and succulent. The addition of the veggies and fruit added a welcome fresh element. The Seafood Soup was filled with shrimp, mussels (which I don't eat), onion, and glass noodles. The shrimp was juicy and well seasoned. The Jja Jang Myun had tons of black bean sauce, which was bold in flavor. Service was pretty good and everything came out in a timely manner. I would be open to returning at some point to try the Bulgogi.

The food here is ok. It use to be a time in manhattan everything was open late oh how times have changed. This place is packed and filled with a lot of young people. I saw someone try to run out on their bill. The restaurant charges you 3 dollars if you pay with a card by the way which I think is kinda shady. The portions are decent, again this is a place to come to if you are hungry and nothing is open. Also I think their prices a little pricey not to bad but again it's Manhattan. Would I come back maybe if I was around here and was really hungry.

Today I was here with my dog, I got the garlic shrimp dish and the mixed vegetable dish. I only went here because it had outdoor seating, the mixed vegetable dish looked like vomit and tasted about as appetizing. Shrimp with chili- not spicy at all, texture was like a rubber balloon. Nasty. Vegetable dish-Soggy, veggies were overcooked. Super overpriced. Overall: Complete waste of money and time. Wouldn't even feed this to my dog.

The effortless tranquility encourages you to slow down, enjoy the food, and get away from the everyday, hubbub. Their menu leans into fusion dishes with a nod to some of the classic home-style classics. Everything is presented with a refined, elevated touch. Here's what we ordered: ~ Tako Wasabi - 5/5 stars A fiery delight. This appetizer feartures chopped raw octopus marinated in wasabi. It has a lively zest from the wasabi and is topped with tobiko, which adds a pleasant contrast in texture. ~ Honey Makgeolli - 4/5 stars A traditional fermented Korean beverage that is light and pairs brilliantly with your meal. It is a cloudy alcholoic drink served in a metal teapot, and surprisingly, there is much more in that teapot than you would expect. It easily provides six to eight generous pours. The flavor is subtly sweet with a pleasant tang. ~ Temaki Set - 4/5 stars You can order a set of three by choosing from selections 1-17, or you can order a la carte at the listed prices. Some of the temaki stood out more than others. Our two sets included marinated salmon, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy bluefin, and two dynamite temaki. ~ Spicky Pork Ssam Set - 5/5 stars Truly another standout entree that even surpassed my beloved grilled BBQ bossam. You received a generous basket of assorte greens, including romaine, kale, perilla leaves, dandelion leaves, nappa cabbage, and more. It is well worth the price and makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your family and friends. There is also various banchan offered and this time, they were beyond kind enough to offer refills. The last time we were here, we ordered just as much food and they stated they normally did not offer refills, which I thought was very odd. With its casual bougie aesthetics, this spot has quickly become one of my favorite eateries in Fort Lee-lee, It beautifully blends Korean, Japanese, and American flavors in a way that feels both comforting and elevated. Needless to say, we will be back!

The server was friendly, though he did rather haphazardly drop off all of the appetizers instead of giving them to the specific people who ordered them, leading to a bit of confusion. To drink, I shared a bottle of 24% Soju Dokdo, which another person had ordered at the bar prior to me arriving during happy hour. As per the other time before we got the other courses, they gave us some kimchi as well as a cold soup as an amuse bouche. The soup consisted of cucumber, tomato agar jelly, basil oil, and Korean pear. The soup is refreshing, cold, slightly herbal, and a little bit sweet, and worked perfectly to whet our appetite. The RW menu that followed consisted first of one choice each from three different options: vegetable, sea, and meat. Afterwards, there was a choice of main and a side dish, and then dessert. From the appetizers, my vegetable choice was the Lotus Root Gangjeong/연근강정, a pair of fried lotus root slices with a mild sweetness, presumably from rice syrup/물엿. The lotus root had a light fry, with a mild crunch, but it was the most basic of the dishes. Other people enjoyed the Asparagus Japchae/아스파라거스잡재 and the Acorn Jelly/도토리묵. I tried the latter, and it was refreshing and tasty with an interesting mix of textures. Compared to the other appetizers, this was also the only course without a supplement, which makes sense since it was vegetables. From the sea section, I ordered a dish I got last time, the Hoe Muchim/회무침, listed on the menu as seasonal fish, gochujang, and soybean powder, which all came with kim/seaweed for DIY handrolls. The dish is normally $24, and of course, the portion was slightly smaller, but it was still sizable. As this was the case with the other dishes, I won't mention that again. The fish in this case was raw salmon, which was buttery, and paired with the crunchy vegetables, the sweet/spicy/mildly fermented gochujang, and the nutty soybean powder. Another person enjoyed the Shrimp Pancakes/새우전, saying that there was plenty of shrimp inside, and no one ordered the $5 extra Abalone Salad/전복냉채. Finally, for meat, I went with the Yukhoe/육회, the Korean version of beef tartare with Korean pear and egg yolk, which is normally $28. The meat was tender with a mild fragrance from sesame oil and a bit of sweetness from the paired, well, pear. No one got the Spicy Fried Chicken/닭튀김, while someone else splurged and loved the $5 extra Beef Cheek Suyuk/소뽈살수육. For my main dish, as with a few others as per my recommendation, I went with the $10 extra Galbi-Jjim/갈비찜. Normally $52, this had soy-braised prime beef, Pyogo mushrooms, some potatoes, and some tteok. The short ribs were very tender, with some fat that was flavorful without being too chewy. The broth wasn't as sweet as some other places, with a delightful little bit of spiciness. This was outstanding, just like last time. Others enjoyed the Bossam/보쌈 and the Squid Stir Fry /오징어볶음, with no one getting the Tofu Mushroom Hot Pot/두부버섯전골. As a side, my choice was the Mushroom Sotbap/버섯솥밥, which is $10 extra, but shared between two people. Normally for $38, this had golden queen rice, mushrooms, foie gras, and a beef broth, and just like during normal service, they present the full pot before dividing it up. The rice had a strong umami with a bit of crunch from the scorched part, and was delicious like last time. Another person liked the Seasonal Vegetable Bibimbap/산채비빔밥, and one other had the portion of Pyongyang Cold Noodle/평양냉면, with the broth poured at the table. The portion was noticeably gigantic compared to every other dish, and the bit of broth I tried was delicious. For dessert, there were two choices. I got the Korean Melon/참외 with coconut and manchego cheese. The dish was well composed, with a granita/ice made from melon, some coconut sorbet on the bottom, and a very mild cheesy flavor. It was refreshing. A few had the Burdock/우엉 with burdock ice cream, chocolate mousse, and burdock chips. They found it mildly bitter with a bit of nuttiness, and one person liked it, and the other did not. I tried a bit, and I thought it was decent, but I preferred my dessert. This was again a very good meal. I wish I had better photos, but we all loved our time here.

Food, service, and ambiance were all amazing. The service was attentive throughout the meal. They offer a tasting menu, but we opted for a la carte so we could try a wider variety of dishes. The complimentary cold broth served to cleanse our palates was a thoughtful touch. The fried chicken wing was cooked perfectly with an incredibly crispy exterior. The uni sotbap was delicious, packed with rich umami flavors in every bite. The bossam was solid, tender pork belly served with fresh lettuce wraps. The cold noodles were refreshing, and I especially enjoyed the light, flavorful chicken broth. The galbi was tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. Overall, every dish was delicious, and I'd definitely come back if I'm ever in town.
