Menu 6/2025
Aleena G.

I came here a few times back then with my partner and all the other times were great. Unfortunately this things noticeably different. The kimchi portions were smaller even though you get unlimited supply. The beef to tofu ratio (in the stew) was very uneven as it was mostly tofu. Also service was not up to par and not very attentive. Sure it is a decent spot in the lively area of ktown and the food was good but the changes were there.

Chap chae
Hannah W.

Standard Korean fare that fills one's tummy. I ordered vegetarian chap chae (stir fried glass noodles) while husband asked for beef bibimbap. Both just good enough, nothing more nothing less. My chap chae contained generous amount of onions and little other veggies. One complaint was the size of their ban chan (side dishes), which had to be the stingiest we'd even seen in a Korean restaurant! They did give us another serving, although we'd have to ask for it. We chose this place because our favorite spot next door (BCD) had a long line, and we were super hungry. Service was fast and efficient. The space was big, bustling and noisy. I guess any K-town restaurant would attract enough customers.

I've been to many Korean restaurants before but I'm disappointed with this one. First of all, the banchan was so limited compared to others and the portion was so small for 3 or 4 people. It wasn't automatically refilled or even asked if we wanted more. We need to flag them several time. The food themselves were ok, I am not too impressed. I found that the sauce of fried chicken was way too much, the japchae over the rice was soggy and the silk tofu soup was so so. It' was such a disappointment :(

Curry Dankatsu pork
Matthew W.

A decent Korean place. I was pretty happy with the curry pork. And the chicken wings and pancake were fairly standard but good. They did close the kitchen without warning over an hour before closing, which sorta sucks. Overall, there wasn't anything special, but also nothing bad either. Solid 4 stars.

Kimchi Fried Rice
Kristina N.

I hadn't been here in years but recently went for dinner because my mom had specific dishes in mind and Five Senses had everything checked off on her little list. It was brightly lit inside and service was prompt enough, whenever you could flag a server down. - Kimchi Fried Rice - this was good, we ordered it a second time without cheese which everyone liked better - LA Galbi - the meat was really tender and flavorful, ordered it twice - Budae Jigae - for $27 the portion was sooo small - Korean Fried Chicken - not that crispy or saucy, there's better elsewhere - Kimchi Pancake - wished it was crispier, ours was really doughy and soft

One thing I love about New York is you can have a list of a billion places to try and yet always strike up a new place by chance. I stayed near K-town and we were looking for something quick before going to a concert in brooklyn and then CLICK BOOM we stumbled upon Five Senses. The restaurant is very laid back, like going to someone's house for a meal. The food was great for what we needed but just alright. The pork cutlet was way tougher than it should be and the soup was quite bland but it came with about 6 different banchans which we lovvvve to see. The portions were also huge and the soup came with plenty of rice cake though I wished a little more short rib had been added since we paid extra. The fast came out fast and we were in and out. A lot of places close between that weird 2 hrs of 2-4pm so glad to find them. What we got Pork cutlet Rice cake & dumpling soup with short rib $ Food 6 Atmosphere 5 Service 7

Spicy Pork

This is a decent spot to go to if other restaurants in the area are too packed. I wanted some korean food and definitely wanted get some sort of soup. This place felt pretty big and my friend and I got a really decent table so all good there. The budae jigae was better than the spicy pork because it had a lot of flavor and I typically like soup dishes from korean spots more in general. The banchan is ok, it has multiple items with a little more than some restaurants offer but I only cared for about half of them. The service is quick, it's a convenient location in ktown, and I know there are other things I'd order off this menu so I'll be back but it's not some amazing restaurant I try to go to every couple of months or crave when I want korean food. But another option for anyone who hasn't been or needs a spot because other places are busy.

Yakult drink (complimentary)
Aya E.

Ordered: Soy Garlic Chicken Wings - 8pc (~$25) Beef SoonDooBu (~$20): soft tofu stew with side of white rice Ban chan (complimentary) Yakult drink (complimentary) Aya's take: We were in the area looking for a cozy, soothing meal and since it's been a while since I had soondoobu, I was really craving some. We were seated right away although most tables were taken at 8:30pm on a Sunday. We started with their ban chan which was fine but nothing special. I like that they had fish tofu as an option here, that was my favorite part. The Beef SoonDooBu had a rich, spicy broth that was super savory and umami. There was plenty of soft tofu which I loved. However, the beef portion was so tiny! And a lot of the pieces we got were entirely fat. They skimped out on the protein which considering all the competition on the block, you wouldn't do that. The Soy Garlic Chicken Wings were crunchy and piping hot. The soy garlic glaze could've been more evenly coated since some bites just had no flavor at all. Typically, this would be served with some pickled radish but this one wasn't. The combination of these 2 dishes was definitely filling and satisfying. They offer a small bottle of Yakult which is a nice way to end the meal. Good try!

Stopped by on the way back to hotel after bars hopping. Great place to recoup and recharge with delis foods. Located near Times Square and sat at the community table. Ordered bunch of foods and it was very tasty and flavorful. Great & quick services. Definitely will come back when in the area.

Jeannie Y.

I came here specifically for their variety of tteokbokki options and ended up choosing the rose tteokbokki since I can't handle spicy food too well. It was a great choice--creamy and flavorful, almost like a Korean-style pasta. The sauce was rich without being too heavy, and it came with fresh mushrooms, sausage, a perfectly cooked egg, and those delightfully chewy rice cakes. Everything was well-balanced and satisfying. The space is clean and surprisingly roomy, and the service was kind and attentive without being overbearing. Great spot if you're craving tteokbokki but want more than just the standard red sauce version. I'll definitely be back to try other variations!

chicken soup
KJ S.

nice spacious restaurant in ktown! we ordered the chicken soup for a warm pick me up :-) pretty pricey for a simple soup, but it was very delicious and warming. we didnt get much of an attentive service, but maybe thats just new york city for ya. bonchon were smaller potion sizes and we didnt get refills, but it was tasty.

Seafood Tofu Soup, Bulgogi Ddukbaegi
Tiffany V.

5/5 Banchan - variety and quality were great! 5/5 Seafood Tofu Stew - had a generous amount of seafood, broth had great flavor without being overly spicy 4.5/5 Bulgogi Ddukbaegi - a slightly sweet umami broth with loads of bulgogi and tteok!

Seafood pancake & galbi tang
Kayla Y.

Came on a friday night and everywhere in Ktown was packed! We decided to go for the shortest line and it was still a 20 minute wait. The place is a bit crowded and we sat in the middle of the restaurant at a large table that had small dividers between groups. We ordered a seafood pancake (was alright , solid choice) & galbi tang (a little bland but good for the soul). It's a solid restaurant overall but nothin too crazy.

Some will also say it's a tourist trap but I honestly believe it depends on what your looking for in your dining experience. I also don't think it's fair to compare it to any BBQ you'd find in the State of Texas. There are key differences between Dallas BBQ v Real Authentic Texas BBQ. There's a difference in meat selection, cooking methods and sauce. It's more about the experience than "pure" BBQ. The most Texas thing about this spot is the size of their portions with food and drinks being huge. Also, if your looking for complex culinary, sophisticated, and upscale, this ain't it. If your looking for quiet, nope not here. Yet it surpasses today's run of the mill standards of good quality comfort food affordably priced. I purposely did not eat anything all day just so I could enjoy all my faves such as the sticky wings, cornbread and the turkey chilli. First off you cannot come here and not order the wings! It was my friends first time dining here and when she read the menu she thought the wings were going to be those tiny rinky dink flats and drums, but no ma'am! These are nice size WHOLE WINGS. Attempting to eat all 5 of them will have your belly popping out of your shirt and have you snoring at the table! I can eat 4 on an empty stomach but 5 is a lot especially if your eating anything else or drinking. So if you want to try other menu items get them to share or just be prepared to take some home. The Hennessey wings are good but after eating two of them the flavor is a bit overwhelming to me. You will not find a better chilli than theirs!! Their chilli is so flavorful without being spicy hot. I love that I can enjoy their chilli, it's the right texture, consistency, well seasoned and you can tell its good quality ground turkey. The drinks are lit! Generous amount of alcohol. Everything is TEXAS size even if your ordering something as basic as an apple juice! lol I guarantee you will not need to ask your waiter for a refill. Trust me! One major upgrade they need to do here is to the women's bathroom. I can't speak for the men's room except that there's never a line for it. Meanwhile the line hangs outside the women's bathroom and into the walkway of the restaurant. Its just not enough stalls to accommodate guests for a restaurant this size. The midtown location is MASSIVE seating between 500-800 people across three levels. However, there's literally only about 5 or 6 stalls in the women's bathroom. That ratio is way off. Anyhoo besides that this place rocks. Solid service and good food.

It was moist with the right amount of fat. It was covered in a very nice BBQ sauce. The baked potato was a different story. It came wrapped in aluminum foil. The only condiment provided was a very small container of sour cream. Butter was provided upon request. It was quite clear that the potato had been overheld for some time. I only finished half. The cold slaw was quite large and had just the right amount of dressing. Dallas BBQ is well known with several locations. I would think they would know how to make a better presentation.

When we pulled up to the restaurant, we were informed there were a few levels. We went to the second floor and they were happy to accommodate us. We were rolling 6 deep and the booth was enough for us, but barely. In our party, majority of us wanted meat with the exception of 2 people only wanting shrimp and something else. We got the large beef combination platter which comes with ribeye, thin skirt, brisket, marinated kalbi, and marinated chuck flap. Most people stuck with water, while a couple got ginger ale. I ordered the soju flight but I ended up not liking it so my cousins shared it. The meal comes with different veggies as well as your choice of soup. We got the spicy tofu and split it 6 ways. The spice lived up to its name, so I didn't eat very much. The best part was meat. Despite there being 6 of us, there was plenty to go around. I think you have the option to cook it yourself or have them cook it for you and we chose the latter. While I enjoyed it, I wish there was more space. Most of the space was taken up by the accompaniments that come with it (veggies, etc), so there was hardly any room to put anything else. It didn't help that none of our dishes were cleared once we finished them and that no rice is included. Aside from that, both the food and service were great.

Since our program covered the expenses, we didn't pay anything out of pocket. Now I enjoy a good BBQ cookout at home as much as the next family, but don't care for it as a dining experience. My employer catered BBQ luncheons from time to time, and even then I wasn't crazy about it. Here in Hill Country, a room was reserved for us (party of 36). Our dinnerware resembled army mess tins lined with sanitary papers; our glasses resembled moonshine jars complete with screw threads at the rim for lids. Our dinner was a catered set of longhorn cheddar mac & cheese (quite good), sliced brisket (meh), market chicken (a little tough), fresh baked cornbread (dry & hard) and collard greens (good but could be saltier). I consumed massive amounts of mac & cheese and collared greens to help swallow down the almost rock-hard cornbread. Desert was chocolate chip cookies (that wasn't bad). Some members of the group ordered liquor (at their own expense) to celebrate the good time they were having. Customer service was less than stellar. The waitress did not inform us that soft drinks were complimentary until after we finished eating. That wasn't all. The restroom was located downstairs past the bar room. During my two visits - before and after the food was served - the same staff member was there cleaning. He had just finished the sinks when I went in the first time. On the second visit, the front door was blocked from the inside by a pail - he was mopping the floor. Couldn't he have waited till the off-peak hours to do that?? Customer service and cornbread were enough for me to not recommend this restaurant.
