Fantastic food. What really stood out was the octopus and ramyun fried rice even tho everything I had was tasty. The buckwheat noodles and fried chicken were good too. I will definitely be back!

I've been wanting to try Hojokban since they opened in LA but never got the chance. So when I was in New York, I figured it was the perfect time to visit the original location. The staff seemed very well trained and service was great. The grilled galbi, truffle potato pancake and noodles were all very good. The cucumber pickles were way too salty for me and the budae jjigae was pretty average. Overall, a good experience but I left feeling like modern Korean dining can be pushed much further than this.

Love that this place is 24/7! Its a really great place to grab food after any concert at MetLife. Around a 20 minutes drive without traffic. The staff here are extremely nice and friendly even when its late into the night. The meat is super tender and flavorful. The rice cakes are chewy and amazing with the cheese. We ordered the big galbi plater for 4! Came out to be around $100. It was bigger than it looked

Stopped in on a Friday without a reservation and was able to snag a seat! Casual vibes, great service. For starters I got the octopus tteokbokki. It was packed with flavor (AND SPICE!!!) and the octopus wasn't overcooked. I can't really handle spicy food, but this was good! The spice progresses as you eat, so I was only able to eat a little bit of it. I love the addition of the seaweed chips. The crunch adds the perfect texture contrast against the chewy. I also really appreciated the crunch of the cabbage. It could've easily been overcooked. The hojok galbi was perfectly tender and umami and the side salad was a nice touch. I do wish there was more galbi sauce, especially since I ordered a side of white rice to eat with it The banchan was simple, but delicious. I love sweet potato and kimchi

Made a reservation for an early dinner here and had a great time, although I didn't realize there is a 90 min time limit so we were a bit rushed towards the end of our meal. It's quite spacious inside (goes far back) and has a nice ambiance. The bathrooms also smell good. For four of us, we ordered: - Pear Enough mocktails (2/5) not a fan, weird after taste - Truffle Potato Pancake (4/5) not bad but not that flavorful - Octopus Tteokbokki (5/5) loved this - Hojok Galbi (4/5) also good but pretty expensive - Galbi Rice Bowl (4/5) not bad - Tiger Budae Jigae (4/5) not bad - Hotteok Ice Cream (5/5) so good

The flavors punch you in the face! A friend who regularly comes here said that everything on their menu is delicious. Unfortunately I didn't come with a big enough group to try everything, but I did get to try their kimchi fried rice ($17), perilla oil noodles ($18), and hojok galbi ($56) from their lunch menu. The meal came with a simple set of banchan-- some kimchi that had a good salty-sour balance, and an addicting sweet potato salad that was almost dessert-like. These banchan ended up pairing really well with everything we ordered, and we had to keep on asking for refills. I almost never order kimchi fried rice at a restaurant because it's something that I can make at home. However, I was glad I got to try it here. The bacon added so much smoky flavor and I was impressed at how chewy the rice kernels were. The perilla oil noodles were very refreshing. They came with a savory but light sauce. I really loved the combination of shallots, jalapenos, and seaweed that added so much texture and freshness to the dish. Finally, the galbi! Yum! The beef was so tender and the sauce almost reminded me of those microwave salisbury steak meals, but in the best way possible. The salad on the side was so good with the beef (+sweet potato salad = heaven). The chopped roasted peanuts added almost a Southeast Asian vibe to the dish. If I had to find something to complain about, I would say that the peppers on top weren't spicy enough.

I would come back here just for the truffle potato pancake. It was exactly what I thought it would be. It was crispy and the truffle sauce was perfect. The perilla oil noodles were light and refreshing. Everything else was pretty average, but the presentation of the dishes was really nice.

This was such a delicious meal, that even my Mom and aunt approved!!! Truffle potato pancake -- def my fav! Fried slice of potato that isnt super oily and greasy with parmesan shavings and scallion toppings paired with truffle aioli. The bite was heavenly, i could easily finish one plate all by myself. Hojok galbi -- very tender with sauce thats not too overpowering, imo was on the lighter side and not too sweet. Loved that the dish also came with some greens and had a sweet and tangy dressing that also paired nicely with the galbi. Perilla oil noodles -- also very delicious, i personally rlly like the flavor of perilla seeds. I thought the noodles were cooked perfectly, im not the biggest fan of buckwheat noodles, but these noodles didnt stick together and was slightly on the harder side vs very chewy and sticky. I thought the dish would be spicy but surprisingly there was little to no spice. I thought this dish was so light and delicious. I know buckwheat noodles are meant to be eaten cold, but i wish it was served warm. Def coming back here again and reordering all 3 but also trying some of the other dishes; these were enough for a party of 3. Make sure to make a resy, it can get busy!

Took my mom and sister here this time, and they were so impressed. We got the truffle potatoes which were super crunchy and cheesy. Loved that they included a separate dipping sauce here even though it's already drizzled on too. This did get pretty heavy after a while though and I kept wishing there was something a little sweet on it to balance out the flavors. The sweet potato mashed potato banchan this time was wonderful, perfectly smooth and sweet - we asked for 5 refills haha. We also got the fried eggplant which was crunchy and had a nice sweet sauce coated on, reminding me a bit of korean fried chicken. But the eggplant itself wasn't really seasoned/flavored so i might pass on that one next time. And ofc we had to get the galbi again. Spectacular, just as good as I remember!

hojok galbi ($59) - the price scared me a little at first but this was absolutely WORTH EVERY BUCK - ive had many variations of galbi before but nothing tasted like this; tender, juicy, well marinated, and not entirely well done almost like medium rare - it wasnt too heavy on the sauce that will make you thirsty but it was perfectly marinated while keeping it light and refreshing; i was genuinely shocked after the first bite - best take on galbi perilla oil noodles ($19) - ive always liked this kind of noodle but after having theirs i loved it EVEN MORE - it was by far the most refreshing, chewy, light yet flavorful perilla oil noodles ive ever had - noodles were perfectly separated from one another and not drenched in oil; it was easy to slurp with layers of flavors; a great summer dish rating: 5/5 - the fact that i rated it as the best korean restaurant in nyc after taking one bite really says a lot about this spot - from texture and flavor to presentation, all of them had perfect execution; i couldnt find a single thing to nitpick about - the dining atmosphere was clean, classy, and comfortable - service was quick and attentive; they kept refilling our banchan which was lovely because other places wouldnt LOL; amazing kimchi and sweet potato - a restaurant that im dying to go back already! Highly recommend IG: @nom.noms.only

Brought a few friends here because it had been sitting on my must-try list for a while, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The hostess was incredibly sweet and welcoming, and the servers were attentive throughout the entire meal. The decor and ambiance felt elegant yet cozy, especially with the cute table lights that made the whole place feel extra intimate. Definitely a great spot for a date night dinner. We started with a few appetizers and drinks, and wow -- the beef tartare completely stole the show. We all unanimously agreed it was the best dish of the night and honestly set the bar incredibly high for everything that followed. The fried chicken and octopus rice cakes were also delicious. In addition, we ordered the galbi-jjim, soy-marinated crab (just one crab, by the way), and bibimbap. Of course, we ladies did family style just so we can try everything! Out of the entrees, the braised galbi-jjim was definitely the standout. Unfortunately, because the beef tartare impressed us so much, the rest of the dishes felt slightly short in comparison. Nonetheless, the meal was still very satisfying and we left absolutely stuffed. We skipped dessert this time, but there's definitely going to be a next visit because I already have my eye on their ice cream and tiramisu!

LOVED everything we ordered here! I almost came here solo just to get the perilla oil noodle but that would have been a mistake because I wouldn't have gotten to try all the other amazing dishes we ordered. The perilla oil noodle did not disappoint: it's a cold noodle that I could eat all day, so not skip. The truffle potato pancake was unlike any jeon I've had before. Super crispy, very tasty, though I will say after 2 pieces, I had enough of that because it was pretty oily, so a good sharing dish. The galbi was extremely tender. The ssok-got salad was surprisingly tasty, and it was perfect to have a fresh balance to the rest of the dishes we ordered. For dessert, the frozen makgeolli and hotteok ice cream were delicious. Everything was so so good, would absolutely come back.

Came here to celebrate our anniversary and the food did not disappoint. The truffle potatoes are a MUST the flavor of them is so so good. Then we got the hojokban ribs and the noodle dish. The ribs were super tender and flavor and the noodle dish was nice and light! Everything paired together really well. The place itself is on the smaller side and tables are closer together. The service was good and food came out fast. It is on the more expensive side for the portion sizes so keep that in mind, but overall good experience

I went today 12/31 for dinner and ordered their bossam which was not the garlic pork jowl as I was expecting. Do they no longer offer the pork jowl on the menu?

Sat at a high top by the bar and had a fairly light dinner. The Beef Tartare comes out with a cracked quail egg for you to pour into the meat yourself and the beef sat on top of sone sliced pear. It's a small appetizer but it tasted fresh and clean, the crispness of the pear matches well with the heaviness of the beef. The cured shrimp was delicious, I'm sad there was only 3 because I wanted 5 servings of it. The uni, roe, and soy shrimp practically melted in your mouth. The Uni Bimbimbap has rave reviews and I can see why. It was filling without being overly heavy and each bite had uni in it after mixing it up. If you're unsure about uni, this is definitely a great way to introduce yourself to it's flavor palette.
