Overall, a solid experience. I came here for a business lunch with a manager. The food was solid - it's a modern take on Korean/Asian cuisine. The service was fantastic and the ambiance is calm and good for conversations. The food was a solid 4/5, the crab was great, but my main entree, the beef patty (forget the name of the dish) wasn't as great as I hoped it would be.

Had a wonderful time at Naro restaurant for the three course restaurant week offering. We ordered a few extra items to try as I saw other reviews mention that portion sizes were a bit small. I actually found that to be not too bad, as we were all stuffed after the extra dishes. All of the items were shared, so I luckily got to try a good portion the Naro's menu. Every item had some level of merit, but my favorites were the soy marinated salmon, the tenderloin, and the fried egg plant. The salmon especially had a luscious texture along with a pleasing soy taste, and I could have eaten another bowl of it easily! Service was also great at the restaurant, although we were an early lunch table so they were not yet busy. The restaurant was quite packed as we were leaving.

Went for restaurant week 2026- i tried multiple different places for restaurant week but this place tops the list in terms of quality (usually quality goes down at other places during restaurant week), creative drinks, and pricing. recommend

We were excited to try this place during Restaurant Week, but we left feeling hungry and disappointed instead. The portions were extremely small, and this is coming from someone that is petite with a small appetite. I had this thought as we were finishing our entree, should I splurge for an extra dish or take my losses and grab a burger from 7th Street Burger on my way home? The cocktails were amazing though! Maybe this is a good spot to enjoy a cocktail or two, but I would recommend satisfying your hunger elsewhere - maybe at the Genesis House...

This chic restaurant is inside Rockefeller Center, by the rink. When you make your reservation, make sure to specify where you want to sit. It was NYC Restaurant Week so we ordered from their $60 prix-fixe dinner menu on this particular evening. The stunning modern Korean food presentation matched the cool decor. It has an outer-space vibe. All the dishes were IG worthy. The portions are on the smaller side but each entree came with a bowl of mushroom rice. We came as a party of four so I got to try pretty much all the dishes. Here is what I chose: Appetizer - King Crab in a Pine Nut Dressing Entree - Black Cod with Hen-Of-The-Woods Mushrooms Dessert - Red Bean & Butter I could not get enough of the King Crab that came as some sort of cold soup. Absolutely divine. My sister and I loved the tender Black Cod, I thought it went well with the mushroom rice . My sister is not a fan of the mayo in the rice so she didn't quite enjoyed it as much. As for the desserts, I loved everyone else's except mine. The Red Bean and Butter didn't work for me. NARO, you need to rethink this one. Huge shoutout to Mateo!! He came by during each of the courses and asked how we enjoyed it, even our drinks. He had an upbeat attitude. When my BIL asked where the restroom was, Mateo actually walked with him to show him where it was. All the staff members we encountered were amazing as well. Thank you for making my 58th perfect, NARO!

My boyfriend and I got a dinner reservation at Naro to celebrate my birthday. I was excited and this place delivered it. You can see the ice rink if you sit in the cocktail room. I was personally happy we booked in the main dining room because it was cozy. It is clean and the service was top notch even though it isn't a michelin star restaurant. They fix your napkins and escort you to the restroom. The restroom is in the cocktail room. We ordered Haechi highball, jeju blossom and prometheus' tipple, and it didn't disappoint. It was delicious! For food, we ordered the Naro soy marinated salmon and bluefin tuna as cold appetizers. I personally enjoyed the bluefin tuna more than the soy marinated salmon. We also ordered the Naro potato fritters as a hot appetizer, and this was amazing. It was a hash brown topped with a korean scallion salad, kimchee flavored. As main dishes we ordered the black cod and the naro bowl. My boyfriend loved the black cod, we both found it flavorful and the fish was perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed the naro bowl too but I wish it had more wagyu beef pieces. Last but not least we ordered bokbunja and red bean & butter. They brought a raisin tree berry ice cream with a candle lit since it was my birthday. It was a nice surprise! We both loved the bokbunja! The blackberry ice cream tasted really good with the whipped cream. The soy sauce chocolate cake cubes was a nice tasty surprise underneath the whipped cream. I will can't wait to come back for happy hour and try their fried chicken sandwich and beer along with other tasty dishes including desserts and cocktails.

I found out about NARO through Atomix (they sent me an email about this new sister restaurant). Tried this place twice and my dining experience was absolutely fantastic! I came here for both lunch and dinner (restaurant week) and below dishes I've tried: 1. Soy Marinated Salmon (5/5) - excellent appetizer dish! Loved the thin crunchy Kohlarbi noddles. 2. Beef Tartar (4/5) - it tasted good, but didn't think it was special or unique. 3. Grilled Lobster (5/5) - creamy, this was different from typical curry I would have at Thai, Japanese, or Indian restaurant. It was mild but flavorful. Not too strong or spicy. 4. Beef Tenderloin (6/5) - my favorite dish at NARO! this will be the dish that everyone will love. Meat was so soft and tender. The creamy white sauce that came with it was yummy. 5. Galbi Beef Patty Bowl (4/5) - if you want a dish with beef, I would rather go with tenderloin. Tasted good, but wouldn't say it was shocking. 6. Korean Twisted Donut (3/5) - I was expecting the donut to be more chewy like freshly baked bread, but found it a bit hard to eat. 7. Jasmine (5/5) - I don't typically like the dessert with floral scent but this had a perfect balance. Really liked how refreshing it tasted. If you want to try something slightly different, I recommend this for dessert. 8. Bokbunja (4/5) - delicious! It has chocolate inside, but I liked how it wasn't extremely sweet like a normal chocolate cake would. But if you're debating between this and Jasmine, I prefer Jasmine. Service was excellent, and ambiance is modern, their drinks were not only aesthetically pleasing but also tasted amazing. This restaurant has an open space where people pass by, but it is pretty quiet and still feels private.

Winter Restaurant Week 2026 $60 Dinner- Naro Soy-Marinated Salmon- Kohlrabi noodles, cured salmon roe. Possibly a bit salty but very tasty
    Glenn C.

Winter Restaurant Week Review 6/6- I was at this Korean spot a few days ago with one of my many groups for their restaurant week. The menu tends to be a bit expensive, so it being $60 for three courses at dinner makes sense. There is also a lunch option with two or three courses, though more of the options are supplements. The service was friendly and a bit more professional than at a typical restaurant, folding napkins and performing other tasks more akin to Michelin-starred restaurants, such as presenting all the dishes at once and otherwise. To drink, I thought of getting a cocktail but went with a glass of Hwaju 12 from Hana Makgeolli, a Brooklyn-based makgeolli company. The glass was $18 for 5oz and is listed as a 4-stage fermentation over 4 weeks, which is infused with hydrangea and chrysanthemum flowers. Along with the typical sour and sweet flavors of this traditional Korean beverage, there was an interesting and tasty floral component. My appetizer, along with the others, was the Naro Soy-Marinated Salmon with kohlrabi noodles and cured salmon roe, with the server recommending we mix the "noodles" on the bottom with the remaining ingredients. This is normally $25 alone, and I could see why, as there were many thick, high-quality pieces of raw salmon and plenty of ikura on top. This was perhaps a bit salty, but otherwise very tasty, and especially when mixed with the bit of crunch from the kohlrabi. My main dish was the Beef Tenderloin, served with black garlic and cauliflower. While not the biggest portion, the beef was extremely tender. There was a mix of two sauces on the plate, with the black garlic one presumably a bit sweet, while the other was on the more savory, slightly salty end, and they tasted better mixed together, just like with the appetizer. Along with the beef, I saved most of the sauce for the side dish everyone gets with their main: Mushroom Rice with handmade truffle oil. The rice was earthy from the many large pieces of roasted mushrooms on top, which had a nice chew, and there was something else for crunch. It was also thankfully not too perfumy from the truffle oil. Another person had the Black Cod with doenjang sauce and hen-of-the-woods mushrooms. She liked it a lot, particularly liking the sauce. One other person paid an extra $9 for the Grilled Lobster served with mussels and sweet potato curry. While not containing the most lobster, they loved the curry in particular. I tried a bit of it, and it had a bit of spice, a lot of umami, and was quite delicious. For dessert, I went with the Jasmine with yuja mousse, lemon confit, and jasmine ice cream. The dish was presented nicely with several pieces of meringue on top. The dish, as expected from the ingredients and name, was primarily floral and sour, being very much an Asian dessert due to its light sweetness. It was good, but my least favorite of what we ordered. Another person enjoyed the Red Bean and Butter with milk bread, candied walnuts, and buttermilk ice cream, which was presented similar to a slice of layer cake, and the remaining option was their take on Bokbunja, or black raspberry. This was an excellent meal for Restaurant Week. Would recommend.

Restaurant Week 2-Course Lunch Menu $30 - - - - - - - - - Soy marinated salmon (+$6) [Rating: 4 / 5] Fatty sashimi with refreshing kohlrabi noodles & bursts of roe, simple but satisfying. King crab (+$7) [Rating: 4 / 5] Loved the contrast of textures - soft crab, chewy jellyfish salad, crisp yellow peppers, and nutty pine dressing. Tasty but portion feels too small for the upcharge. Black Cod [Rating: 4.25 / 5] Perfectly buttery and tender, literally oozing juice when cut into! The Korean sweet-savory red sauce brings a deep umami punch Oyster mushroom rice bowl [Rating: 4 / 5] Generously loaded with mushrooms in sweet soy sauce, plus crispy sunchoke chips for crunch! Only downside, couldn't detect any truffle at all... Grilled corn popsicle $14 [Rating: 4.5 / 5] Def get this if you love corn!! The ice cream & jam are rich in corn flavor, the shortbread cookie (tho a little stale) adds a nice crunch. Jasmine $15 [Rating: 3.75 / 5] Bright, tangy yuja mousse with lemon confit and airy meringue, refreshing yet balanced! But the jasmine ice cream got completely lost under the stronger flavors. - - - - - - - - - Overall Rating: 3.75/5 Will I be back? Maybe. Tasty food but pricey for small portions, and they didn't really wowed me. I'd gladly return for the corn popsicle tho!!

Went to Naro on a Friday night and it was packed. It's right by the Rockefeller Plaza rink, a great spot for a night out. While described as Korean fusion, it felt more like American fine dining with Korean touches. We ordered from the Restaurant Week menu ($60 for three courses). Highlights were the beef tartare from the starters, the tenderloin and black cod from the mains (all with mushroom rice), and the jasmine dessert with yuja mousse and jasmine ice cream. Overall, some solid standouts, a beautiful setting, and worth checking out if you're in Midtown.

Korean fusion @ Manhattan, NY, located at Rockefeller center near the ice rink The restaurant is very modern and spacious with a bar. Tried the restaurant week lunch set menu for $42 per person, additional $7 for tuna bibimbap. Starter: Amberjack sashimi with yuza citrus dressing Beef tartar with pear Fried eggplant with tofu sauce Main: -Miso cod with oyster mushroom -bluefin tuna with sesame leaves bibimbap -oyster mushroom rice bowl Dessert: -Bokbunja with chocolate/whipped cream -Jasmine icecream with murang chips - red bean and butter bread with ice cream We enjoyed starter and main dishes but didn't like the taste of dessert too much. Our favorite was fried eggplant, miso cod and oyster rice bowl. My sister ordered white lotus tea for $20 but it wasn't properly brewed and the tea cup they used was very unappetizing. The service was very attentive and when we raised the issue with our tea, our server listen to us and provided our feedback to the manager. We are pleased to try out their dishes during the restaurant week!

This place is close to hitting it home for me. But dishes are missing in flavor or texture, and the small portions only exasperate the issues. Presentations were great across the board and the service was alright, but the area is underground and extremely noisy, so I wouldn't recommend this place for a romantic date night. The Strawberry Gongju was just meh. The only spectacular thing about it was the $24 price tag. The Kimchi-Cheese Chicken Wings had one of the best crunches that I've ever had, but that's about it. I don't remember the moisture level of the meat, but there was absolutely no flavor and non-existent seasoning. Where was the Kimchi-Cheese? Extremely disappointing, especially for $22. There also wasn't enough lemon. The NARO Soy-Marinated Salmon was just alright. It slightly better than Salmon nigiri dipped in soy sauce. The Beef Tartare was one of the best that I've ever had strictly in terms of flavor. It had a distinct sweetness and the egg yolk made it easier to eat. The pear was on the weaker side of the dish since it added just a small crunch. I wanted more texture for each bite, but the taste of the dish gets more than a passing grade. The Grilled Lobster was definitely a highlight. The lobster was tender, and the sauce is spectacularly creamy and rich in umami. The mushroom rice looked great, but somehow was bland. The Bokbunja is a pretty unique dessert. It has many textures: crunchy bits, smooth ice cream, and a solid cake on the bottom. The combination of the flavors is quite intense because each component of plate is sharp. I think the Jasmine Ice Cream is slightly better. It has similar textures to the Bokbunja, but with more crunchy bits and more complementary flavors. The Jasmine with Yuja and Lemon makes it a sweet and sour forward dessert (more on the sourness), but it's not too overwhelming, making it a pleasant to eat. Overall, I'm slightly disappointed with the aggregated satisfaction of the dishes. I'll consider coming back for their tasting menu since I only came here for their Restaurant Week special.

Another expensive spot participating in restaurant week! So you know I'm definitely going to go! My friends and I got to try a variety of dishes from their menu! We ordered: Appetizers: King Crab (Pine Nut Dressing, Jellyfish Salad, Yellow Peppers) - there were a lot of different textures going on, which i enjoyed. The crab had a soft texture and the jellyfish had a bit of a jelly, crunchish, chewy texture and there was a hint of mustard for the sauce. Definitely an interesting pairing. NARO Soy-Marinated Salmon (Kohlrabi Noodles, Cured Salmon Roe) Entrees: Black Cod (Doenjang Sauce, Hen-Of-The-Woods Mushrooms) - According to my friend, you definitely know the sauce is Korean influenced. Tenderloin (Black Garlic, Cauliflower) Grilled Lobster (with Mussels, Sweet Potato Curry) (+9) All main courses are served with a side of Mushroom Rice. Desserts: Bokbunja (Blackberry Ice Cream, Soy Sauce Chocolate Cake, Whipped Cream) - the presentation looked like an art piece. I didn't want to eat it! But my curiosity on what a soy sauce chocolate cake tastes like got the better of me. I didn't taste the soy sauce but it's perfect for dark chocolate lovers. You can definitely taste the dark chocolate. Jasmine (Yuja Mousse, Lemon Confit, Jasmine Ice Cream) I'm glad I got to eat at the restaurant. You can tell each dish was beautifully prepared and curated. The staff was super friendly and approachable, very easy to make small talk with. Would I go back probably not, given the usual price and although the food were all beautifully and carefully crafted ... Unfortunately none of them really stood out to me either. But I did enjoy my food and the ambiance. I think it's a spot worth checking out at least once! They are also featured on Michelin guide!

Most of the space was taken up by the accompaniments that come with it (veggies, etc), so there was hardly any room to put anything else. It didn't help that none of our dishes were cleared once we finished them and that no rice is included. Aside from that, both the food and service were great.

Hojokban is a modern Korean restaurant that focuses on elevated comfort food while keeping the…read moredishes approachable and familiar. We walked into a stylish but relaxed space that feels suited for both casual dinners and a night out with friends, with an atmosphere that balances energy and comfort well. The room gets lively when it fills up, but the noise level adds to the experience rather than detracting from it, making it feel like a place built for sharing and conversation. The food is where Hojokban stands out. The complimentary banchan sets the tone for the meal with flavorful sides that add variety before the main dishes arrive, each one thoughtfully prepared and offering a different texture or flavor profile. The gomtang soup is one of the more comforting options, bringing together tender meat, a rich broth, and classic Korean flavors in a way that feels hearty without being overly heavy. The galbi dishes are also a highlight, with the meat cooked well and carrying the sweet and savory balance that makes Korean-style grilled beef so enjoyable. The portions are generous, and the quality of the ingredients is noticeable across the board. The menu has several unique dishes worth exploring. The truffle potato pancake is one of the more memorable items, combining a familiar Korean staple with a richer, modern twist that adds depth without losing the essence of the original. The perilla oil noodles are another standout, offering a lighter but still flavorful option with a distinct nutty aroma that lingers on the palate. The beef tartare adds a more refined element to the meal, fresh and well seasoned, while dishes like the ramyun fried rice bring a fun comfort food element with bold, savory flavors. Together, the menu covers enough ground that you can build a meal around both familiar favorites and more creative choices. Service is friendly and the overall experience feels welcoming rather than overly formal. The staff are attentive without hovering, and they handle the busy flow of the restaurant with a pace that keeps the meal moving without feeling rushed. The menu is designed for sharing, and the portions make it easy to order several dishes across the table, allowing you to try more of what the kitchen has to offer. The lively atmosphere adds to the meal, making it a good fit for group dinners where the energy of the room matches the pace of the food. Hojokban does a good job blending traditional Korean flavors with a more modern dining experience. It is a place where you can come for familiar comfort food while still finding dishes that feel creative and different. If you enjoy Korean cuisine and want a restaurant with a little more personality, this is a spot worth checking out. It delivers a meal that feels both familiar and fresh, striking a balance that makes it easy to return to and explore more of the menu.

Would love to see them partner with GFFG more and bring over more concepts. Great ambiance. Modern furnishing, perfectly dim. More elevated/creative than Take31/Her Name Is Han but menu still anchored by pub food style starters (the honey fried chicken and truffle potato pancakes are awesome). The Hojok Galbi is a must get. Perfectly tender beef - sweet, savory, slightly spicy from the peppers. Beer and soju are reasonably priced. Versatile, fun spot - highly recommend for casual dates or groups. Will definitely be back.

The servers kept things moving but with very minimal interference and no extra visits; we would have liked a little more attention when we finished some of the banchan and kind of expected they would be replenished, but we certainly were fine without it. And the entrees were delicious and even with other tables almost on top of each other it never felt crowded due to partitions that I saw them remove for some larger groups needing tables "together", and I never felt part of someone else's dinner convo. Presentation was amazing and food was delicious - Soon Tofu Soup with seafood for me, which arrived bubbling like a cauldron. It came with a raw egg that you crack into the soup and let it cook to your level of doneness. Hubs got hot stone bibimbap and as we all know the crispy rice is the best part of it... it's just tough to separate it from the actual stone dish so you can eat it, especially if you wait until it cools and fuses. If I was there with more stomach space I wanted to try the galbi, and in fact there's a weekday lunch combo that could facilitate that.
