    Squid kimchi Pancake
    Muriel D.

Had a reservation and was seated promptly. It is a bit cramped inside depending on where you're seated. Unfortunately, we were in an awkward corner but that did not drastically impact our experience. The servers were attentative and food came out quickly. We did the seafood kimchi, bulgogi and cold udon. Everything was delicious. The bulgogi was not the best I've ever had but it was tasty and the presentation was fun. The seafood kimchi was outr favorite. It was flavor packed, crispy, and had a generous amount of seafood. The cold noodles were also yummy. I would come back for the kimchi pancake and try some other dishes.

Had a wonderful lunch at Sam Woo Jung with my husband on a Monday afternoon. There was no wait and the servers were very attentive and refilled our banchan multiple times. The kimchi was delicious, as was the entire meal. The lunch set was definitely worth it! My husband had the bulgolgi with the mushroom rice and I had the spicy pork with bibimbap. Will be returning in the future.

Hidden gem that's easy to miss if you dont pay attention. The food is surprisingly solid, and the banchan is a bit different from the usual. Portions are generous, great for sharing with a group. Tables are on the smaller side, but service is quick.

I came here with a friend for lunch and was excited to try the famous beef bulgogi. Unlike other bulgogis, this one is finished table side and offered in 3 sizes. We got the 400g along with an order of mushroom rice and felt like it was the right amount of food. The side dishes were a little disappointing as they did not have deep flavors - the kimchis were pretty young tasting, decent flavor but not melded with the cabbage. The grilled fish was a nice size but very bland. The mushroom rice was interesting. 5 different mushrooms cooked with umami rice. This was also a little on the bland side (even with the the accompanying sauce) but it did go well with the bulgogi. The bulgogi was definitely the highlights. Rice, sweet, warm and full of flavor. The broth goes well with rice and there are a ton of different textures with the mix of ingredients (glass noodles, rice cakes, enoki mushrooms and veg. Next time I would only get the bulgogi, but it was good enough to be worth a trip back alone!

I came here for dinner with a group of friends and we loved it! The interior of the restaurant is cozy, and I would recommend a reservation if you are going on a weekend. Service here is really quick, attentive, and polite. My friends and I ordered their raw marinated crab and shrimp, their seafood pancake, their bulgogi hotpot, and their bossam. Everything was delicious. The raw foods were high-quality, well-marinated, and was paired with roe rice. The seafood pancake was crispy and generous with their seafood portions. Their bulgogi hotpot was comforting, and perfect for the cold weather. And, their bossam was clean, light, and amazing in a wrap. Great spot for some cozy vibes and warm Korean food!

I was surprised to find out this popular place had two floors and very spacious dining rooms! But! no waiting area....(They literally have a booth seat enough to sit only two people!) It was a bit awkward standing by table where other people eat in order for us to wait for our table. We had a reservation but we had to wait for quite while beyond our reservation time. We felt a bit like being completely ignored sometimes while we waited too.(Other people were given menus but we didn't. Others were told their table was getting set up but we weren't.) So don't make any plans after this place! Anyhow, the highlight of this place was surprisingly seafood pancakes! (May be because I wasn't expecting?!?!) There were chunks of seafood in it & delicious! We ordered one of the most popular bulgogi pot and it was ok but I would like to go back to try other seafood dishes!

Found my fave bulgogi spot! The best bulgogi I've had. Got the medium size 650 grams Seoul bulgogi, and it is flavorful but not overly sweet- love the soup /sauce base. This place also has some of the best kimchi! Spicy octopus and this is quite spicy but very yums. Pleasant discovery, highly recommend!

    Strawberry corn custard dessert

My friends and I were looking for something to eat in Koreatown, and both my friends said they liked Samwoojung. I loved it and now have it bookmarked as a fave - the absolute highlight of the meal was their dessert. The strawberry corn custard was delicious and light and like a much better banana pudding (in vibe of dessert, not flavor). Their banchan was good and their haemul pajeon was also excellent. I liked the raw shrimp app but don't need to get it, but did enjoy it / find it worth trying.

Great spot for Korean bulgogi near Penn station! Made reservations for Saturday lunch and it was decently packed. Service was fast and ambiance was very casual-- good to come with friends and family. - Kimchi mandoo: 9/10 (solid mandoo with good sagol gomtang soup) - Seoul bulgogi 650g: 10/10 (good portion size-- more than enough for two! Loved the sweet and savory bulgogi with the noodles) Overall, this is a solid place to visit if you're craving bulgogi!

The bulgogi here was outstanding and the sides made it even better. Ambience (4/5): Cozy and welcoming with a traditional vibe. Food (5/5): Bulgogi was perfectly seasoned and tender, and the sides were excellent especially the kimchi. Value (5/5): Generous portions and fair pricing for the quality. Service (5/5): Friendly, attentive, and quick to keep everything flowing.

Food is overall fresh and delicious! The seafood pancake and raw marinated crab are our favorites. The bulgogi signature hotpot tastes a bit flat and we probably wouldn't get it again and would rather try some other interesting hotpot dishes. The bossam isn't worth getting, you can get better portion and taste anywhere else. The cocktails are super delicious though and really love the cozy vibe and quick service!

I need to start with the banchan - likely my favorite kimchi in the city, I think it's geotjeori so it's less fermented and so fresh and flavorful! From then on, the meal continues to be fantastic - love the seafood pancake, marinated crab, cold kimchi noodles and marinated shrimp. Truly one of my go-to takeout places as well!

Sam Woo Jung is always super packed, but service is top notch. Water pitchers were always refilled and they brought us more banchan whenever we finished a few. It's such a cute spot too even though a bit cramped. Of course, we had to order the bulgolgi (medium was suggested for 3-4 people), and from there, we got the pajeon, octopus, and the cold perilla noodles, as well as the cold kimchi noodles. The bulgolgi was melt-in-your-mouth flavorful. Soo good and a must get! The octopus was tasty and spicy and came with sliced sweet potato, which was unexpected, but somehow worked. Needed more octopus pieces though. Pajeon was perfect - nice and crispy on the outside, chewy inside. Large chunks of octopus in this. Both the cold noodles were much needed on a scorching hot day, though they could've been served colder. Excellent flavors, we were satisfied, and the consensus was the kimchi noods over the perilla noods because it packed more of a punch.

Our bartender was really sweet and made great drinks , the cranberry vodka and Long Island were both spot on. The kind of view that makes you pause mid-sentence and remember you're in New York and not just spiraling in your own life choices. It's carrying the entire experience on its back, respectfully.
