The food's good... just weirdly expensive. Portions are small, specially the beef plates... I unfortunately did not take pictures but you will see in other reviews small portions of beef, these are all priced well over $30!!! My friend and I ordered the galbi for $40 and I kid you not it was about 10 pieces of beef. It was good, yes, but I wouldn't say it was way better than much more reasonably priced places in the area. Heck I pay a bit over $40 for delicious all-you-can-eat in KBBQ in K-Town and Queens! If this was supposed to be a highly premium cut of beef, they definitely do not advertise it as such. The rice, chicken wings, seafood pancake were all good - but again, weirdly expensive for such portions and for the vibe: this is a casual laid back looking place. Side note/mini review: Requested the change the name of this place to Mistah Oh to match other sites and as this is the more accurate name. Anyway, I went to this Korean place a while back with a group of others. The staff here was very friendly even compared the most other Korean spots checking in on us and making us feel very welcome while the space is adequately big for large groups. From the service to the food, it almost feels like being in someone's home with the cooking almost reflecting this tasting a bit different than most other Korean places with the vegetable mixture in dishes being a bit different such as broccoli and otherwise as well as the spice level being noticeably less but they still packed in other flavors so it wasn't bland in the slightest. To drink, a couple of us split a bottle of Peach Makgeolli which was tasty. From the appetizer section, we had a few. They had a particularly tasty version of Japchae for $13.99 consisting of stir-fried glass noodles with mixed vegetables. This had a good amount of sesame oil so it was nice and fragrant with the mixed vegetables having a lot of bell pepper as expected along with some other things. The portion was decent as well. There was also the less traditional Bulgogi Kimchi Fries for $15.99 listed as potato fries with kimchi, bulgogi, and cheese curds topped with spicy mayo. The fries had a good crisp and the kimchi added some good little sourness and saltiness with the bit of sweet bulgogi being a good touch. Said topping was primarily in the middle of the fries either for presentation or so that the fries don't become too soggy so I would recommend mixing it all before eating. The rest of the people enjoyed the Seafood Pancake (or rather Haemul Pajeon) for $19.99 listed as a Korean scallion savory pancake with assorted seafood. The assorted seafood of course had plenty of squid in it so I couldn't eat it because of my cephalopod allergy unfortunately but it looked nice and crisp and came with the usual dipping sauce. My favorite main dish was the Mukeunji Samgyupsal Jjim for $28.99 consisting of aged kimchi with braised pork. It was maybe a little bit less spicy than this other places but I didn't mind as it was packed with flavor. The pork belly inside was very tender and the kimchi added some good heat along with some fermented sourness so of course I liked this a lot. I would recommend this heavily and the portion was large. The other people's favorite of the main dishes was the Galbi Jjim for $34.99 with red wine & soy sauce braised beef short ribs. We specifically got the Maewoon/spicy version though I think they might have given us the original. The dish was a bit cheaper than usual but the beef inside was very tender and it wasn't as sweet as some other places. I do wish there was still the jujubes and other more traditional stuff inside but it's hard to complain at that price point for a dish that's usually in the $40 range and up. There was also the Tteok Bokki (or rather tteokbokki) for $18.99 listed as spicy rice cake with vegetables. This was the spiciest of the dishes though it was still less so than many other spots. The rice cakes had a good chew to them and the bit of cheese on top reminded me more of the rosé version which has been becoming more popular. This was nice as well. Last was the Grilled Salmon for $24.99 listed as yuzu-soy miso glazed grilled salmon. This was the simplest prepared dish with two large tender pieces of fish that were well grilled. Honestly from presentation, this could have come from any new American restaurant even with the glaze as many spot add an Asian twist to salmon or cod. If you're looking for something lighter, I wound recommend this. As someone who usually prefers stronger fermented flavors or spicier food, I was surprised how much I liked the food here. There might be other Korean places that I prefer for this reasoning but I would still go back partially due to the staff and partially for I might want more comforting food. read more

We stopped by Mista Oh while visiting the Chelsea area and had a great visit! It's a very hidden, hole in the wall place. However, the indoor decor is very cute and fun. The staff were welcoming and quickly took our order. We both had the Bulgogi Lunch special which was a great price for all that you get. Truly a welcoming small business family owned establishment. Since the moment we entered, staff was very attentive and welcoming greeting us and for reservations, they actually reserved a table for us with our name on a cute note card. Came here for an early weekend dinner and asked the staff what they recommended, and ended up ordering the mandoo (with pork), seafood pancake, chicken katsu, and kimchi fried rice with bulgogi. However, at the end of the day, I feel like their food requires some technique to develop a complexity of flavors that work well in unison. (Banchan: C) - The Banchan was sadly not as good as other restaurants a few more blocks down -- the fish cake was surprisingly mild for the redness of it and the broccoli and potato salad followed similar trends of a lack of depth of flavor; for the potato salad in particular, I think adding some smokiness could be a good way of elevating it. (Seafood Pancake: C) - I like the concept of this seafood pancake as it was crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside. However, it is not the most well priced at $22 for a few pieces of octopus -- additionally, there were just some large heads of scallion that were not cut, which makes for a particularly unpleasant bite. (Truffle Bulgogi: C) - Initially, I could not smell or see the truffle at all so I had to investigate the source of their claim. It appears that truffle oil was used to cook the beef, which is quite a poor way to use it as it is meant to be usef as a topping. However, the staff was nice enough to add more afterwards so I could smell and taste it -- in spite of this, truffle could have the potential to work since I've seen it on cheesesteaks, however, the earthiness just does not seem to fit the profile of the delicate sweetness of the beef well so I feel indifferent whether adding or not would make it better. First time trying this place and it did not disappoint! Prices were super reasonable and portions were a good amount. We had the steak, marinated beef, mackerel as well as fried rice dishes our favorite was definitely the steak and marinated beef. The fish was a little too "ocean-y" for me but others enjoyed it and didn't think that was the case. The kimchi soup is super fermented so be warned if that's not your preference. I do like it less fermented but the others loved it the way it was We came with a part of 4 and was promptly seated and then the restaurant filled up asap! I've been here twice now. The first time, we were able to make a same day weekend reservation and the restaurant was not busy when we arrived. I loved the homey atmosphere and friendly service. The people working took the time to chat with each of the guests and it was truly exceptional service! Not a lot of restaurants have kalguksoo on their menu in the area and so we both ordered the seafood kalguksoo. It came in a large bowl of piping hot noodles, veggies, and seafood. We wished there was more seafood in the noodles, but otherwise it was light, tasty, and warming on a cold rainy day. They also gave us banchan to share with broccoli, mashed potatoes, kimchi, and fish cake. The banchan was seasoned well and my favorite was the mashed potatoes. Overall the food was good and reasonably priced. The second time, we walked on a weekend in and the restaurant was busy. We were still able to be seated immediately. The service was still good but not as exceptionally friendly as my first experience, as we were seated in the front and the restaurant was busier than the first time. I ordered the bibimbap and we also got a seafood pancake to share. It also came with the same banchan to share, but they didn't offer to refill it. Food is simple (but delicious), having a home cooked quality to it that is lacking in many Manhattan Korean establishments. Came upon this place by chance while trying to escape the heat after being outdoors. Lunch bentos are reasonably priced (for the area) and offer a good amount of food. Included are a miso soup, bowl of rice, mandu (dumplings), salad and a small selection of banchans (side dishes). The meat was deliciously tender without being overly sweet/salty. My toddler son and I were able to share a Bulgogi bento and still have leftovers to bring home. Very sweet, hardworking owners who doted on my son and were so kind to us on our visit.
