BEYOND DISAPPOINTED. Had a reservation at 8:30 got there at 8:25 but had to wait in a line to see the hostess for 20mins . When we got to the front we were told out reservation expired . However mind you we were told we had to wait in that line . They turned us away. The hostess was so rude and off putting. Said "we have a grace period for a reason" and now it's an hour wait. Even after explaining we have been present this whole time . Made the reservation for my anniversary and I will never be returning I can promise that. Great experience but not quite perfect. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. The ambiance is really fun but also really LOUD. So many places are so loud you can barely talk to the people at your table! We ordered chips and salsa and guacamole. The guacamole is fine, nothing standout but good and also enormous. Even with 6 of us we had so much leftover. It also didn't seem to come with many chips. The salsa is thin, smoky, and hot. I loved it! The chips are quite thick. I prefer thinner chips but that's OK. Chips and salsa also come with a small side of beans which weren't exciting. The drinks are very high priced. The only margarita was $17 and was just a pretty small margarita that was very sweet. I'd skip it next time. I got the birria tacos and they were fabulous! So meaty and tender. This also comes with the kinda boring little cup of beans, a small cup of broth which wasn't very flavorful, and a hot oil of some sort. The meat was so juicy you didn't really need broth but I did dip them in the delicious salsa! Also ordered at our table were the bacanora pasta and bacanora tacos, which are both with bacon-wrapped shrimp. Everyone who got these loved them! First time here. Let me start ... arrived early because my friend was running a little late. They asked if I had reservations ... at 3:00 in the afternoon on a Thursday! They said they'd find me a table. I asked if I could sit at the bar while waiting for table to be ready. Nope ... apparently the bar is closed until 6 or 7 in the evening, and there are only 4 chairs when they are actually open!!! Once seated in this very dark place (fortunately they have LED lamps on every table that you can turn on), it took quite a while for my (very tasty Tequila-based) espresso martini to come out. My friend arrived, and apparently he ordered the right thing ... their famous birria tacos. I ordered the enchiladas with steak. They were not even edible. The simple side salad was good though. Then the topper was, when I went to order a glass of wine, I accidentally ordered a red, when I only drink white. When the server brought out red, and I was surprised, she didn't even offer to substitute it for a white. Fortunately my friend is a red drinker, so I asked him if he would like it. Will not be back. We chose Miel de Agave to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday, and while the vibe was nice, the overall experience left a bit to be desired. We started with appetizers calamari and pork belly. Both were just okay not bad, but nothing memorable either. Things went downhill a bit when our main dishes were brought out incorrectly twice. We ended up keeping one of the wrong dishes just to avoid waiting even longer. We ordered the carne asada and the pasta carbonara. Unfortunately, the steak came out overcooked (we asked for medium rare), and the shrimp on the pasta were overdone as well. The burger we received (not the one we ordered) was actually good, which was a small win. The potato tacos and tuna were just okay nothing stood out. Service was friendly but very slow. Our server was sweet and clearly doing her best, but the wait times and mix-ups were frustrating, especially for a special occasion. Fantastic restaurant. Booked a last-minute reservation for late at night when a friend was flying into town. He was vibing steak for dinner and Miel de Agave delivered. The ambiance was great - very cool feel. Food and cocktails were excellent. Steak ordered medium rare was cooked perfectly for both entrees - this isn't always the case, even at the high-end steakhouses. Too often restaurants teeter on the medium/medium rare line, but Miel de Agave cooked it with precision and provided a perfect medium rare. We shared the elote appetizer, which was an appreciated and unique take on elote served as spears. Service was attentive and appreciated. Hostess was also very polite. 10/10 would recommend this place to anyone and look forward to returning. read more

Overall I had a fine experience here, but I'm going to be a bit of a stickler as this is a premium price point. The atmosphere and vibe is lovely and the location is great. The food and cocktails were expertly crafted and I've never received an order of guac more quickly in my life. That being said, everything felt like it was maybe $10-$15 above the price I wished it was for what you got. The enchiladas were great but $33 for two enchiladas and a tiny salad in a bowl is a bit steep. Likewise my wife got the baconara tacos and for $20 it was literally two tacos that were ok. The birria short rib was delightful but came with a $75 price tag as well. Lastly, while I'm not trying to be the fun police here there were times when I'd have loved my waiter to come by for another drink or to check on the tacos which came out later than all the other dishes and the waitstaff was kind of just gathered in the middle of the restaurant, in view of all the patrons, horsing around. I've worked waitstaff jobs and that's half the fun, but in plain view probably isn't the place to do it at a restaurant of this price point. TL;DR - if the menu prices don't raise an eyebrow for you go, you'll have a fine time. If the prices are in special occasion territory for you I honestly feel you can have a better overall experience elsewhere at this price point. ------------------- Nothing against this establishment at all, I wish them the best but I do think they have a few opportunities to elevate the experience to better match the premium nature of the menu. read more

Overall, a great tasty food place downtown! I came here with some coworkers and sat outside - the outside seating area is very nice and shaded (though we came on a day it was raining and the sides are not protected for the rare rainy day). There were also large tv screens around - so if you wanted to keep track of any games, you could. The wait staff were incredibly friendly - though we did find it weird that when we first sat down, they asked to take a picture of us. Our waitress recommended the Chichen-Itza drink, which I found excellent. I then ordered the Chicharron burger, which was incredible. One of the best burgers I've had. The chicharron added an excellent juicy flavor and perfectly chewy texture to the burger. The sauce and additional accompaniments also added to the burger - you could taste it but it wasn't overwhelming, allowing the chicharrones to be the star of the show. The fry sauce was also excellent. I do wish the menu had mentioned fries would be included (I did not realize they would) - and mentioned an option to replace with a salad, but that's a minor nitpick. A coworker ordered the sonora tacos - and found that it was good and plentiful food. I would highly recommend this burger and drink to anyone who comes here. Overall, a great experience! read more

Just got into town, it has been a long day and this place was a great way to end the night. Cade suggested the shrimp and birria tacos. Soooo good!! Of course they have a different name on the menu. The shrimp was wrapped in bacon and the tacos were topped with chipotle sauce. We also got their spin on a spicy margarita, it was very good too! Went in early in the week around five and the hostess made it seem like a party of three might be tough even though most of the restaurant was empty. We sat down and ordered drinks, two of which, including all house margarita, were served as incorrect drinks. Then we were asked if we would take a photograph for the restaurant. We politely declined, and were asked if we might change our mind. The food itself was fine. I had the quesabirria and the ribeye agua chile. They were good, but extremely overpriced and oversold. The waiter said it was unlikely for one person to finish the quesabirria, which I felt was easily within a normal portion. The meal came out to roughly $60 per person for one appetizers, three drinks, and three entrees. For the service, uncomfortable atmosphere, and quality of the food, I am unlikely to return. read more

Service was great, very attentive to filling our waters, checking on our satisfaction, etc. We ordered drinks, had appetizers, and main entrees. Everything was delicious. Everyone especially loved the calamari with the special seasoning and slight spice kick. The guacamole was just ok. It was fresh but it lacked flavor. Chips were fresh and appropriately salted. Entrees were very good and appropriate portions with no leftovers. At the table folks ordered various types of tacos, green chili enchiladas, and even a burger. Everyone loved their dishes. Only hassle is the parking. With the nearby lot closed you have to search for street, metered parking and it is a hassle on a busy night. First of all A 4 star rating is a high recommendation. I don't give many 5 stars, because everything needs to be exceptional. Today is one if the rate occasions I will give a 5 star review. We were downtown at at the Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy presentation, which was amazing by itself. We were looking for a place to eat nearby and Yelp gave Miel De Agave very good reviews. My girlfriend had tried to come here for a birthday celebration in the past but it was too busy. (Reservation highly recommended Friday and Saturday) but today being Sunday we took a chance. We were a little early arriving just after 4. We were greeted immediately. There were only a few tables taken and seated by the stage. (Live saxophone player started at 6 and we were glad we were still here). Our server Marcia was amazing. Very pleasant smile brought us menus and explained everything. She took our drink orders and put in our appetizer while we browsed the menu. We decided on the green chili creamy enchiladas with chicken and I chose the Ribeye Del A Casa. The drinks were ordered were the Conejo Malo and the Me Quiere o no me Quiere. They both had a great presentation and both were sweet but delicious. The enchilads were flavorful and good size portion. The ribeye however, was among the top steaks I ever had. The meat was juicy and cooked exactly as ordered. The quesadillas were good and the sauces amazing. Highly recommend. We were to full to finish but Marcia brought us a complementary slice of cheesecake. What a great surprise. It was not a standard cheese cake. It had a creme brulee top and was deliciously sweet. Marcia decorates them and needless to say I was impressed. After finishing a great meal, we were getting ready to leave when the saxophone player was setting up. He started at 6 and played some smooth sounds. Glad we stayed. Visited the PhX. location. Delivery of food was excessively late /very late for one of the dishes, though once arrived reports were good. Food that was labeled "No Gluten" probably had gluten given reports of sickness from gluten in he food. Also, when leaving reports of feeling sick. Two dishes did not have the reported ingredients per the menu, such as avocado, barely had corn, and no tortilla strips. Chicken was dry and no hot coffee to enjoy with a slice of cake. Later in evening (at home) after eating the cake, felt sick. No dedicated parking. read more
