After going to my dealership, and being told I needed new brakes claiming I was down to 2 & 3% left on my pads, I went to Midas knowing they have a best price guarantee and lifetime brake pads guarantee. The owner of the Bend Midas store actually told me I had 20% left and I could wait awhile !!! When I did have my brakes done, it was easy to get an appointment and while I was waiting, two of the mechanics took the time to have short conversations with me and make my wait seem a little more pleasant. Disappointed After 5 Visits - Still Dealing with Squeaky Brakes I really try not to leave negative reviews--especially when a business initially makes a good impression. But after five return visits trying to resolve the same issue, I feel obligated to share my experience with Midas of Bend. I came in for an oil change promotion and was told my front brakes were in bad shape. I had recently gotten a quote from Les Schwab, but Midas beat the price by $60 and got the job done within the hour. At first, I was really thankful they could squeeze me in and give me a better deal. However, right after the brake replacement, my car began to squeak loudly while driving--a high-pitched, constant sound that wasn't there before. I brought it back in, and they discovered a bent coil, which they adjusted. Unfortunately, the squeaking persisted--especially when braking. Since then, I've returned five times. Each time they told me the brakes were fine, even performing a "safety check" where they drove my car down Aubrey Butte and slammed on the brakes. Still no improvement. The most frequent explanation I've been given is that my car is Canadian (it's a Kia), which doesn't make much sense to me. Now, after spending over $600, I'm still dealing with a loud, unpleasant noise every time I drive. I can't enjoy having the windows down, using the sunroof, or driving without music to drown it out. I truly gave Midas multiple chances to make it right, and I appreciate their attempts to help--but unfortunately, the issue was never resolved. I scheduled oil change online, got the text to drop off anytime and then a second text that 9 am appt. When I arrived the gentleman at counter was rude- going to be 2.5 hours, I have 3 cars coming in for extensive work. Still sitting lot after I said, I would have to come back because drop off doesn't work. Then he spouted that you requested 1030 am, even though text was different. Worst brakes ever. They screwed up a wheel bearing which made my axle fail and wouldnt fix it. Now my $2500 brake job is sqeaking super bad. This was the old owners but new owners did nothing for Me. Super upset and really mad I waisted all that money. 100% you should never take your vehicle here. if I could give it 0 stars I would have. I feel like i got robbed. Plus had to spend another 1300 to fix the wheel bearing and axle. So a total of 3800 spent and the brakes still don't work right. read more

They tried to fix my exhaust tip extension that was damaged by a driveway. I expressed my concern about it hanging too low as they were "fixing" it. I left and had it rub on a driveway 15 minutes later and break. I would not take it back to them because they ignored my concerns the first time. Midas of Bend is under new management and I would like to share my today's experince: I had a complimentary estimate with Midas of Bend today for a 2nd opinion. on some work I was told I needed by the Dealer. After a thorough instpection, Midas informed me that I didn' need the work for a couple of years as well as Midas' estimate was ONE-HALF the price of the Dealer's quote. I went to have a sensor changed and brought my own. It is a relatively simple repair (I would have done it myself, but I'm going on vacation and couldn't get in with my regular mechanic.) This happened over two weeks ago because I like to give businesses the chance to make things right before writing a bad review... I asked for 2 services to be done which both showed up on their pricing board... I asked if those prices were accurate and the man (M Lomeli?) said that it varied. I was not surprised but asked when I would know the pricing for my vehicle. He let me know that they would call. I was okay with that thinking there would be some communication before I was committed to a price, right? Wrong. He called and my vehicle was ready with $90 in extra charges. When I picked up the car he explained those prices were for labor and didnt include the fluids, etc.... Why wouldnt he have told me that? And why wouldnt their sign say those prices were for labor only? And why wouldnt he call when he knew which fluids were required for my vehicle? I never authorized those charges yet I was responsible for them........ I have no idea to any of those questions. I explained why I was upset and the gentleman remained professional but did nothing to make the situation right. Essentially I left an open check at their place of business in my mind. I wrote a note to corporate, which also emails the store manager... I also called the corporate number and left a message. No reply. I suggest staying away from this business. read more

Arrogant, filthy, sloppy and not what I expected from a Midas shop. No wonder so many of the reviews are maxed out at 1 star. Several months ago, my radiator burst while one bock away from this Midas. I've had acceptable-to-good service from the Midas brand in past years, but not this time. Two days later, the work was done but not before I was upsold by the manager for also a new serpentine belt ($150), which didn't actually seem completely out of line given the mileage on the auto. The total was over $1,000. The day after the work was done, my horn would not work. No big deal since I was sure a wire in the area of the radiator had simply been left loose. I returned to the shop, but the manager insisted they never touched the horn and told me I would need to replace it. Fortunately, the mechanic took a look and found that he had in fact knocked the horn wire off. 5 minutes and it was fixed, no thanks to the arrogant manager. Then, 4 months and only 3,200 miles later, during my scheduled 100k service (at my reliable, preferred shop), they told me that the schedule included a new serpentine belt. I told them it was just replaced. I had them show me and mark the splits. I had no choice but to do a second belt (another$150+). I took the belt back to Midas and asked what the warranty on the part was after showing the manager the belt. He looked at it and said it was new and the "cracks are just normal wear and not splits". I asked if he would just replace the loose belt with a new one in case I needed it in the future, or to give me some amount of refund. He refused. So my message is beware when using this shop, which is nowhere near up to the reputation of what this major brand has represented in the past. And I'm not just griping about not getting some amount of consideration. The manager is surly, unfriendly, unhelpful,, arrogant and never smiled once in the four interactions I had with him. The paperwork given to me was overly simple and without anything near the details every other shop I have used provide. The shop and waiting room is filthy, messy, spotted with droppings and downright scary with gun magazines and similar spread around and junk leaning against the walls. I will NEVER go back to this shop and I will never use Midas (anywhere) again, thanks to this one in Bend, OR. And, the thought that my wife or daughter might get stuck there aline makes me shudder. If I could enter this review without at least one star, I would. But one star belongs to mechanic who was pleasant and helpful enough. Whoever the owner of this franchise location is should replace this manager with one who understands what a good shop looks and performs like. Due to his inexperienced mechanic, I've had to take my van in three separate occasions to address a scrapping noice from a break job they did. The problem still isn't fixed, and now he wants me to come down a forth time. We live in Redmond, and we estimate 9 hours of driving time plus gas. The other issue I have, is that he never answers the phone....While I was sitting in the waiting area, I decided too call, and that's when I noticed that the phone doesn't even ring. Plus, he charged $200 over estimate. We have been a customer of Midas for many years, and the previous owner was very professional. He gave us fair prices, and we never had a complaint. I had my tire patched on 8/12 since I had a nail in my tire. The worker looked at my tire, and said they could perform a tire patch to fix the tire. I was charged $55. The next day I went to drive my car, I noticed the tire looked flat again. The tire pressure light came on immediately, and the tire was even more flat than when I brought it in. I took my car to Costco Auto Center (since Midas was closed on Sunday and I needed to drive to Portland that day) and they informed me the tire patch was unsuccessful and now I needed to replace ALL my tires since they couldn't just replace one. I had just gotten my tires replaced a year ago, so this was a huge, unnecessary expense had the tire been patched properly. Update: I got a call back from Midas. Although the manager explicitly mentioned to me before I did the repair that the tire patch would last me until I needed to get new tires (which should have been years from now), he decided to tell me today that "I'm the first customer who has experienced a leak in a tire repair," even though 67% of the total reviews on Yelp are 1 stars. He would not give me a refund, and insisted that the tire must have gotten damaged within 24 hours after I got it repaired at this shop. Extremely upsetting experience coming to this shop. read more

I have been extremely disappointed with Midas. I went in here to get my breaks worked on and had a terrible experience. I drove off after a terribly long wait and had my master cylinder fail. Causing me to not be able to stop my car, running a red light. I went back to them asking about a warranty to be rudely treated by an employee and having to pay more money. This place not only doesn't know shit about cars, but they have a very lazy attitude towards working on your vehicle. We were told they would examine our car and let us know what was wrong with it after it broke down on the highway from an engine problem. An hour after I dropped it off I got a call and the guy said they tried putting oil in it, it didn't work, and there's nothing else they can do. We could have done that ourselves and the guy obviously knew very little about cars. If I could give -0, I would Drove newer vehicle in for simple manifold gasket change, vehicle was than towed on flatbed (only after arguing with owner to call tow truck after the 2nd day and owner stating he would release vehicle and have it towed after the bill was paid) from Midas to the dealership. Now, even after trying to fix several things, there is still no change to the vehicle, considered a paper weight, totaled !! Their quote ended up being 100 dollars more, they also ruined my heater core because they left it disconnected and it overheated, I took it to Goodyear and they saw it had been tampered with. Midas did not take any responsibility but were rude and didn't care at all to fix problem, going there is just asking for shady business and unfair service. They don't bother to clean your car and have a filthy shop. They are disgusting and not at all trustworthy. There was a recent robbery there that they didn't even report to the police. They are truly thugs, and they don't represent an integral Midas shop.Go to Goodyear, Midas should take these peoples rights away! I'm pretty sure they have thieves working there! Rude, disrespectful and had no intention of providing service to fix my headlight. Although I had an appointment I was told many others had appointments (apparently one car on the rack for a brake job and one in the lot for a muffler job equals many) and I had to wait, which I was fine with. When I asked how long I had to wait they couldn't even give me an estimate. They took my phone number to call me when they were ready but they never intended to call me, clearly evidenced by the fact that they didn't call me. Rather than being considerate and indicating that another shop would be better equipped to handle my issue they blew me off. Do not waste your time or spend your money at this shop. After getting lifetime brakes on front & back & new rotars on the back I got home & my back driver side brake was smoking! When I brought my car back for examination they told me that the two calipers in the back needed replaced because the pistins didn't like the new rotars. They never once mentioned that could be a possibility & after asking the owner over the phone, why they wouldn't tell me if that was even a possibility he hung up on me! Not to mention in my opinion $179 for just one set of brake pads is ridiculous! My investment wasn't cheap & after the scamming & poor customer service, even with the lifetime brakes I know I will take my car elsewhere! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!! Unbelievable. Went in for a brake and caliper job on my Honda. $800 bucks for the whole thing. Needs done, no biggie. The first time I set an appointment for it, they used the new parts ordered for my car on someone else's. So I gave them time to re-order it (he told me it would take 5 business days to arrive), called in and asked when we could schedule again. "Uh.... looks like we never ordered the parts. We are on a road trip from Denver Colorado and had our brakes done in Boise Idaho. Well, for the most part they did a fine job, butthere was a faulty washer and we lost all our brake fluid in Bend Oregon. Despite being completely booked for the day, Midas managed to squeeze us in in the morning to fix our sad car and get us back on our way. Don't go to Midas, please, please save yourself time and money. They told me they changed my rotors last year. Was having problems with my brakes and took into Les shwab. Les Shwab said the rotors had not been changed in several years. I saved the receipt and went back to Midas and they told me that they did change it and I must be a bad driver. Horrible horrible! I went online and tried to schedule an appointment and no one called me after hours, I really needed service, so I went in. The man said... Oh, online doesn't work. He said he could take my car but it would be a little over an hour. Since all 5 seats were taken by a family I walked across the street to ShopKo to kill time. I walked back an hour and a half later and then man said... Oh your vehicle is scheduled next! Wow, I'm a fan of this place. I'm not sure what all the bad reviews are about? Or maybe they are trying to change their image? I stopped in because a Toyota dealer told me I needed my drive belt replaced but they wanted to charge to much so I put it off for quite awhile until this awful rattling started. So I took it into the Midas and told them what I had been told by the dealer. It was close to the end of the day and I told them they could keep the car overnight. But within the hour I got a call back telling me my car was ready. I went back to pick up my car and the guys there told me there was no need to replace the drive belt just them, it still has plenty of life left and the rattling was due to a missing bolt on my exhaust. They just rebolted it. AT NO CHARGE! The guy said to come back next time when I had something to really fix (not at all in a snarky way) I will be back! Service and Business Warning Bend Midas on 3575 US 97 North, Bend, OR 97701 (541-389-2638) I am not one to complain much or get involved with writing reviews, but yesterday I experienced an awful reminder that living in a free country means encountering both the best and the worst in business. On 01/16/2009 I went to the Bend Midas to have my front disc pads replaced. The service was performed satisfactory and when I asked the shop manager to help me understand how to do the work myself he was so helpful I noted this establishment for future reference. Invoice 147495. On 3/30/2013 I came back to have a left front wheel bearing replaced. I also asked the shop owner to replace my rear brake shoes. Invoice 155623. There was some negotiation on price regarding the latter, as I was quoted a higher price on the phone ($117) than what was posted locally ($89). I had to insist on the lower price on premises. The owner said that he would give me the lower price but then would not machine the drums. I've done this work myself so I knew that machining rear drums is rarely needed. We proceeded. Upon receiving my repaired car I quickly determined that there was no change in performance regarding the left front wheel bearing. It continued to hum and vibrate heavily on turns. I returned and presented my observations and the owner insisted on informing me that it's common for both front wheel bearings to go out, but that he would give me a break on price to also repair the left one. Rather than charging me another $225, it would only be an additional $175. I requested to be presented with all the replaced parts because at this point in time my trust had eroded. He agreed. No new paperwork was created. The additional work was performed and upon receipt of my repaired car, rather than making payment, I test drove it first. It was clear now that the left front wheel bearing was repaired and that an error or so had occurred earlier. I presented the owner with these thoughts. I showed the owner that one of the wheel bearings was clearly worn out and that the other was still good. On running your finger over the bearings, one can easily feel a rough and a supple one. Not only can you feel the bad bearing, but the discoloration (heat damage) gives it away. The owner was belligerent and would have no discussion, and only say over and over again "Both those bearings are trash." He would not engage in any discussion and threatened to call the police. I proposed paying for the parts he installed but without labor as a compromise and address his shop's mistake. My thinking was that having two new front bearings was at least worth paying for the parts. He could eat the labor for his shop's mistake. His response was instead to order me off the premises and that "he did not want my money." I will further note that this business owner, on my first visit of 3/30/2013, chased one of his employees out of his chair with some sort of electronic device, and when I asked what it was, the employee said "It's a Taser; he's been doing that to me all day and I've been escaping it." I believe the employees at this establishment are not at fault. Rather, the business owners does not have it all together. I would like to warn folks from doing business with this establishment. The work that these folks do is essentially commodity work, so find someone else to do it. They have no specific expertise that makes them unique. I can recommend many other great businesses in town that will perform this same work much better. read more

I'd give them NO stars if I could. They replaced my 2000 excursion shocks but replaced them with the wrong size. I didn't realize the Midas professionals placed them with the wrong size shocks until my new tires cupped. I then took them back just to hear that they were fine,wth? I replaced them elsewhere and took the wrong sized shocks back to Midas and at that point they were going to look into it and "call me". NOT a call, sorry, nothing!!! Never went back since and don't recommend them ever again!!!!! I imagine they got their refund for them but the I received nada, they could care less here! read more
