Jack is that old school mechanic everybody wishes they had. I've gone to him thinking it would $1,000+ fix to have him say that all I have to pay is 100 bucks for the labor and not pay for the part. Beware!! Jack did a tuneup on our mint condition Astro van. Charged us $700, overpriced, but we paid and thanked him. A few days later we started the van and it had zero oil pressure. We immediately shut it off and saw a huge puddle of oil under the van. He had left the old oil filter gasket under the new one, which resulted in an oil blow out. Jack came to us and replaced the filter and oil which we graciously thanked him for. Since then our engine has had a horrible knocking noise which was determined to be rod knock by another mechanic. We discovered Jack had also overfilled our oil this time by 2 quarts. We towed it in to Jacks only for him to attempt to say it's fine, just leave. We refused, and he finally agreed to look it over. A day later he said he could fix it by "thickening the oil" (that just hides the noise) I told him it needs an honest repair, not a bandaid. He refused, so we're towing the van out and initiating a lawsuit. Jack can talk a nice talk, but when push comes to shove, he will stab you in the back. Watch out for this shop read more

If i could do 0 stars, I would. I bought a van to travel in at 18 years old, and put my heart and soul into it. I got it running perfect and put crazy amounts of money and time into it. I was about to leave for my job in Colorado and wanted a full tune up before I left just to make sure everything is perfect. Jack charged me more than $700 which I knew was a little much, but I figured he must do great work and i'm willing to put in money to my van if it means it will be perfect. luckily, I stayed around town for another week because all of my oil fell out of the van onto the street at Drake Park. thankfully Jack came out to help me, unfortunately it was too late and my entire engine was damaged. suddenly my van started making an awful noise, everyone told me to stop driving it and get it towed back to Jack's shop, so I did. (for a better picture, I am an 18 year old girl, living in oregon by myself about to move into a van) Jack looked at the van for not even 5 minutes and then told me to drive away and I'll be fine, then told me he was going to charge me $1600 for new lifters because that was the issue. (lifters go out from no oil, rod knock happens from no oil.) I called my dad in California so upset, asking him what to do because it just doesn't make sense why my van is all of the sudden making these awful noises when i've been taking amazing care of it. He said to get it towed to another shop and see what they diagnose the problem as. They found with less than an hour of looking at my van that it is rod knock, there's metal in my oil, AND Jack charged me for a full lubricant as part of the full tune up and flat out didn't do it. He's a scam artist. It all goes back to went Jack messed up on my oil change. Jack refuses to take accountability and now I am stuck in bend homeless at 18. The new shop quoted me over $10k for a new engine, I tried to work things out with Jack nicely as I'm just terrified and want my van running. Jack is now ignoring me, hanging up when I call, and i'm on the street. thank you much jack. beware coming to this shop. he's dishonest and does crappy work. especially if you're a young girl, expect to be ripped off. read more

Jack is trustworthy, kind, fair priced and a man of his word. We weren't sure what was wrong with our 2014 Ford Explorer EcoBoost, so we brought it to him. He knew right away the issue was the timing chain just from listening to it. He got our family vehicle in as soon as possible and had everything swapped out and completed on time. This was a big, complicated task and he did a wonderful job getting our car fixed up. Unfortunately, the day after we got it back, a sensor that was replaced ended up being faulty. We spoke with Jack and he had us bring the car right back to replace the part again, honoring the 2 year promised warranty he backs his work with. We put our Explorer to the test with a trip to the Columbia Gorge and she passed with flying colors. Rapid Wrench exceeded my expectations!! A coworker in my office recommended Jack. And, then a second co-worker piped up and said his mother in law uses jack and she also likes him. So I went in with fairly high expectations. But then he exceeded them by arranging for a tow truck (and he did not mark up the tow bill. Most shops mark up tow bills 25%). The Repair was done in a couple days, and his price was very fair. I know his price was fair because what he repaired is a reoccurring problem I've had on my truck 4 prior times. I've used shops in Corvallis, Redmond, and a different Bend shop. Jacks charge was towards the bottom of the range that I've paid for this same repair. I am very happy. I called a couple of recommended shops who weren't able to get me in for several days to 2 weeks. I looked online and saw the great reviews for Jack at Rapid Wrench, so called him. My lucky day as he had had a cancellation and was able to fit me in. It turned out that it was not my CV boot/joint but instead it was my rack and pinion steering and needed to be replaced. Jack was fantastic. We were on vacation in Sunriver from California. Heard a thunk somewhere around Shasta and lost the AC. Called Jack and he said come in so he could look at it. I dropped our 15 year old Nissan van off with him and walked into town for a coffee. Less than an hour later, Jack called to say that we had lost a bolt and the crank off our AC unit. It would take two days to order and install a new one, but we didn't have that amount of time before we had to leave to go back home. Jack made sure our vehicle was going to be safe to drive home, and wrote up a great report we can take to our mechanic for the complete fix. Jack was professional, thorough, and charged a reasonable rate for the great work he does.
