Honest, straightforward, and outstanding diagnostic car care! I took my 2008 Buick to Tom yesterday not knowing what was causing the car to feel like it was jerking when shifting occasionally and making a loud clunking sound, but fearing the worst. After test driving and examining it he diagnosed a failing engine mount. Repair was completed in one day and was so much less than I had feared. He is great at his job and easy to talk to! I worked with Tom for my appointment. I brought it in to have it looked over and reported some issues to him. I was told that nothing looked wrong for one issue, they fixed another, and "could not replicate two other issues". This isn't too big of a deal except one of the issues happens all the time while I drive and I really want it fixed. Tom was eager to save me money, which I appreciated. I asked him for a quote for some other repairs and was told that he would call me tomorrow--he never did. I will be trying another shop to look into my ongoing issues. read more

I called a few auto repair shops in town to get a quote for diagnosing a check engine light on our Honda Odyssey. Other shops either quoted ~ $100 just for diagnosis or didn't get back to me at all. Even though he was booked a week out, Tom at Brandy's immediately picked up the phone and offered to have me drop by their shop so we could see what the problem was before making an appointment. Computer read showed emissions leak and it turned out one of the expert gas pumping specialists we're forced to employ had managed to screw the cap on over the leash. Tom is one of the most honest mechanics I've ever dealt with. I was referred to Brandy's Automotive by another mechanic in Bend who was too booked to see me, and I am sure glad that I was. I drove my 2010 GMC Acadia from Idaho and it broke down in Bend. We made it to Brandy's Automotive and Tom looked it over. He also called to see if the 100,000 mile power train warranty was still valid, knowing that I'd have to take the car to the dealership to get the work done. We where on our way to Idaho going through Bend OR. We pulled into our Hotel Camp Fire Inn, soon a we parked our car was marking loud grinding noises. Being late in the evening I left several messages with auto shops, first on to call back was Brandys. they were only a couple blocks from our hotel, we drove over a broke down completly in their drive way, perfect. they said they get us on the road ASAP. So we went and had some breakfast and walked back to the hotel and hung out. About 5 hours later they called the car was fixed, we were able to make our destination as planned just a lil late. Visiting a friend in Bend, on our way back to Austin Texas (yes Oregon, you're quite welcome that we left your gorgeous little city... too damn many newbies here already). At 07:50 Monday, I had the good fortune to ask Tom if he could fit in my F250's diagnostic confirmation then probable Alternator replacement this day... I had car troubles and called another good mechanic's shop in Bend, but they where book out four days. I have no other form of transportation and needed it done ASAP. So they referred me to Brandy's Auto, giving a great review. So I called and spoke to Tom and told me to bring it down and he would have it done before the weekend. I didn't know how big the problem was but he was pretty confident that I would have it before the end of the day. So I rented a car for the weekend not so sure that it was gonna be such a easy fix, .about two hours after dropping my car off I had a phone call from Tom letting me know that my car was ready to be picked up and explained what was wrong. VERY Honest didn't try up sell me things I didn't need. The charge to have my car fixed was great also, fantastic rates. GREAT SERVICE, GREAT STAFF GREAT PRICES!! Ive been having issues with my car ever since i hit a snow birm in the middle of the road thought my cv shafts needed replaced so i took it to brandys to have them installed accidentally ordered two left ones. They put one on let me know that i had two left ones but couldnt drive it home called after hours and tom quickly returned my call picked it up the next morning and found out both shafts i recieved were bad so he put the original back in when i tried to pay him for his extra time and effort he wouldnt accept it he did his best to help me out. Even though there wasnt much he could do with faulty parts. Tom went above and beyond to help me out. They Charged my friend $1,100 to replace the radiator and fluids... I guess it's partially my friends fault for allowing them to do so. The total if I were to do it myself would be $230. They also charged me $215 to pull a fuse from under the dash.. I give 2 stars because they didn't break or steal anything however, I'm never going back. read more

I pulled up here prior to purchasing my Nissan Pathfinder. I took the Pathfinder in to have it checked out prior to the purchase. I first called their service to confirm that they had an opening for me and they took me in within the hour. Tom was the mechanic on the spot who took my order. I had a few concerns mainly regarding a check engine light that was already on the vehicle I was thinking of purchasing. They went through the inspection checklist and informed me of what it was that they looked for. Luckily I had a little automotive knowledge to at least understand what was being explained to me. There were many things such as proof of maintenance that indicated the previous owners might have took good care of the car. They were able to determine what was causing the light to flip on and I was relieved to hear it was a sensor that had little effect on performance. The way that the explained the process of what they looked for was impressive. Tom even pulled out a chart and a model that simplified what the different components do and how they can tell if they looked to be in good shape. If you are not sure about a vehicle that you are looking to purchase, this would be a great place to visit. Not only will you feel comfortable with their experience. You can learn a little bit about your vehicle in the process as long as your willing to listen. read more
