I've been a customer of Joe's for years. I've known him personally since he was in high school - I stop at Joes Shell once a week with my raggedy Prius and I'm ALWAYS treated as if I'm in a Range Rover - today was no different. I pulled up and was greeted by an energetic, vibrant young man - I requested $7 cash and he did his job. While pumping my gas he interacted in a personal and sincere way. He was professional and excited to be working at Joe's. He exuded pride and joy to be outside helping me. His name: Max - he's there usually 2-Close but I lucked out this morning as he MADE MY DAY!! Been buying diesel gas for my RV for years, I pay a bit more but they let me dump free for a fill over $30. Pretty good deal. This week I pay 70$ for a fill and the attendant tells me $15 now for all dumps. Sad to say no more if my business for you Joe. From: disappointed RV customers read more

A gas station is a gas station you might say. That said, they've got great people working here. Always friendly, always helpful and always wash the windows. Was in a few weeks ago and the man working pointed out my tire was low on air, filled it and then told me that Schwab would fix/replace my tire for free. Nice people. read more

I stopped for gas last month and had one of the worst experiences with someone in the service industry ever. I pulled up to get gas and an employee came up to my passenger side window to talk to me. I had to reach across and roll my window down. He asked me what I wanted and I asked him to fill up my car. He quickly responded, "What's with the crazy eyes?!" (with his eyes wide open.) I was so caught off guard with this remark and I had no idea what he was talking about. When he came back, I asked him what he meant by this. He proceeded to go on and on about how there is more to communication than verbal. This guy was very hostile to me and it felt surreal the whole time. I sat and reflected on what he said as the gas was filling up. I got out of my car and told him that it was inappropriate for him to treat me this way and trying to lecture me on non-verbal communication. He continued to show aggression to me. I asked him what his name was and he told me, "Ivan, what is YOUR name?!" I was floored as I have never experienced this from someone in a customer service position. I tried calling the gas station later that day and someone answered. I asked for Joe, as he is listed as the owner online. The guy told me that Joe had just left, and that I had just missed him. About a week later, I went down to the gas station and I asked to talk to Joe, the owner. The Manager, Kelly, had explained to me that Joe had not worked there/ owned the gas station since last March. Apparently the gas station is now owned by a Corporation or Corporate entity. That indicated to me that the guy on the phone was lying. I discovered that Kelly was the Gas Station Manager. I told her what had happened and she was very receptive and validating. She agreed that this shouldn't have happened to me. I appreciate that she took to heart what I said. This was not ok that I was treated so badly by this guy, not to mention that Shell is one of the more reputable high end gas stations. We pay more at Shell and I'd hope the level of service would reflect the higher gas prices. My whole life, my family would go to Shell because of its' good reputation.....no more for me. There are SO many other gas stations in town where the attendants are kind. Won't go back to the Shell on Galveston. read more

On a tip from the guys at the Real Food stand across the street, I took my truck here on my way out of town in a hurry. Joe was a fantastic help at giving my car a much needed once over, fixing little details, and identifying the big problem, all while talking with me about what he was doing. Once we figured it out, he got the truck up on the stands right away so I could get back to California in time for work. Best mechanic EVER. Thank god for Joe's. read more

The driver's side wheel bearing went out for the third time and was under warrantee They replaced it for free, but in doing so nicked the seal on the left axle that I had replaced at MIdas a week before. There was transmission fluid leaking where the axel meets the transmission. I took it back to Midas, thinking it was the axle and they discovered the problem. Although it was not their fault, they fixed it for free. Joe's Garage had told me in no uncertain terms would they warranty anymore work on my car because it was too old. When Joe Senior was doing the work, I got very good results. But now they give my car to another mechanic and it has resulted in several do-overs. If they stand behind a job that does not stand up to the one year warranty, then they complain loudly. read more

Went there for gas this evening to fuel up before heading out of town. We pulled up and were greeted by a super pleasant young man. He sincerely asked us how our weekend was going, topped us off and washed our windows. I've never been treated so well at a gas station in my life. We tipped him because if how pleasant he was. You always wonder if you can trust your mechanic. You can definitely trust Joe's Westside Shell. We have been a customer here for two years. Not once have they ever done any work that was not necessary. This last time we took our car in, the engine light came on. They originally thought we needed a new sensor. They had even already ordered the part. Upon a more careful inspection later that day, they turned the engine light off, and drove the car, which they said was running great, and the light never came back on. They called us and said the car was fine, and no repairs needed to be done. Now, we never would have known the difference. They could have gone ahead and changed the sensor unnecessarily, but they chose to be honest. It gives us great peace on mind to know that we have a mechanic who is honest, who we can trust. read more

I've taken my cars to Joe's Westside Shell for the past 5 or more years. I can't say enough great things about their service and their mechanics. They've been there for us when we've needed them right away, and for regularly scheduled service. Their prices are also very fair and they don't ever try to "upsell" us to unnecessary services or services that are a long way off from being needed. read more

Taking your car into the mechanic is stressful at best. How bad is it going to be this tine? Now imagine that you are on the road traveling and your car starts spewing oil. Luckily, I found Rob at Joe's. He was able to get my car into the shop and repaired in under 24 hours. And he was honest and very very very reasonably priced which allowed me to spend more money on food and beer. Can't say enough nice things about this mechanic and his shop. He even went so far as to wash the under carriage of my car so that the leaking oil smell wouldn't linger! Wish I could find this level of service in my home town! read more
