We were traveling through on vacation and were heading out of town when our new-ish Ram Promaster van started making a sometimes clunking and sometimes high-pitched screeching - it was terrible sounding! We called a few places, including the dealership, to see if someone could take a look and tell us what was wrong. These guys not only got us in, they were able to take a look at it within about 15min!!! They diagnosed a bent brake plate with a rock stuck in it (causing the screeching). Dropped my car off at 8:00 am. They didn't look at it until 4:00 pm. Because it had an oil leak, and they didn't power wash in the morning, they were not able to diagnose the problem correctly and asked me to bring it back another day after charging me $130 for their "one hour of diagnostic work." During that time, they also didn't look over the whole car (suspension, breaks, etc.) The issues they did find (leaks in the transmission fluid hoses and corrosion around the water tank), they wanted $2,300 to repair and said the work wouldn't be done for three days. We'll, start with the fact that they do RV repairs in addition to autos. Followed by the fact that they quickly diagnosed the problem on a late Friday afternoon and order the part (new fan clutch). My 88 Chevy truck fuel pump died while driving in Bend. The tank was about 1/4 full & had to come out to change the pump. A kid on youtube had the tank out - in his garage in about an hour. I figured a shop with a lift would make it easy. Long story short - 2 months later its still working & I think they probably did good work, BUT the bill was $1035 bucks. OUCH!!!! After complaining to the boss, I got a small reduction. Moral of story - if you gotta break down, try to do it in a different neighborhood. read more

They are very unorganized and can't be trusted to keep appointments or promises. I would recommend going anywhere else. I made an appointment weeks in advance, only to show up day of and not even be on their books. These guys were referred to me as good diesel mechanics. I took my truck to them for a leaking transfer case. Turned out it needed a replacement, hmm okay. Then my oil cooler was leaking, okay fix it. Sorry we took it apart and can't get parts. Need a replacement. Get the truck back, over heats first day, take it back, needed more coolant, the mechanic didn't fill past thermostat. seen home mechanics with more knowledge. The next day overheats again, now leaking everywhere, return and water pump is leaking. I'm livid at this point almost 4K into these jokers. Now we discuss replacing the water pump at cost if I have them replace my injectors because they're bad too. Okay another $5800. Get the truck back still hunts at idle, no change and the owner tries to convince me it's better. A week later I go to a house with new asphalt, come out an hour later and little drops on the ground. Climb under and see antifreeze and transmission fluid running down various areas. Take it back, response GOOD NEWS IS TRANNY FILTER WAS JUST LOOSE, bad you have an external head gasket leak. And I took my Ford f150 to Northgate auto early july, its still there and theyve invested a whole hour to the truck. During that hour they managed to lose power to the starter and completely destroy the steering column. There was some play from left to right before i took it to Northgate auto, but now the whole things moves up and down a good inch and the truck doesn't start. I still was charged for that hour of service, gotten multiple excuses as to why​ the truck has not been fixed or even looked at without breaking someting. Initially is was thet only had one mechanic able to work on late model manual trucks, then somebody was sick for weeks, then its a parts issue, then theyre guys been wrapped up on another project........ then yell me these things and dont take the truck to start with. I would have appreciated the straight forwardness and honesty then the costly, delayed, shit show scenario i have to deal with now. They take no accountability and im left eating the cost for a more effed up truck. Now, i have to find another mechanic and have it towed when it started and drove fine before going here. I had just used it as a daily driver for two weeks on a demo job and it drove fine, minus the clutch issue, wich is why it was there to start with. Im a repeat customer but ill never be taking a vehicle to northgate auto again, unless by some miracle a business actually does what is expected and practices good ethics. My one minor issue just became 3, i paid to get my truck back in worse condition than when it got there, now I can't work. I'm pretty fired up about this one. I could have broken the truck on my own and saved myself the frustration, work progress and money.... .​oh thought this would be helpful too. The vehicle I had in prior to the truck had an oil cooler leak, initially invoices at 940, because this included a 300 dollar battery I didn't ask for or need. I've tested the battery, it tests good on my end. I also find it interesting their's of services on yelp says free estimates, if by free they actually mean 135 dollars an hour then this would be accurate. Thanks read more

New owners. It's NOT the same place as when Rick and Debbie owned it. I own 3 vehicles and had been doing business with Rick and Debbie for the last 7 years. They were great. A guy named Joe bought the place last November. I had an appointment to take my truck in this morning. I made special arrangements to make sure it was there when they opened, at 8 am. On a recent vacation trip our vehicle broke down and was towed to Northgate. They diagnosed the problem the next morning and were honest that it may take a couple of days to fix as they had several repairs underway but they would try to get it fixed soon since we were from out of state. Thankfully they were able to get it completed within 24 hours of the diagnosis so that we could head home on our 10 hour drive and for less than they initially estimated . We recently had some work done here on our diesel truck. Joe and Robert were very knowledgeable and diagnosed the issues we wanted addressed. After we got the truck home we noticed a small leak. We called and told them about it and they asked us to bring the truck back in to take a look at it. After checking everything out they discovered a crack in a power steering reservoir that had had occurred accidentally while the repairs were being made. They made it super easy to get the truck back in and they replaced the part free of charge. We highly recommend taking your vehicle here for repairs or general maintenance. read more

I took my car in for a break job. They quoted me a price. When I came back they said it was already to go for me. While driving I could hear a noise in my brakes and realized that the calipers were not releasing. When I took it back they said they needed $300 more which made it a total of $1050 to replace the calipers and do the brakes. I came back and it still wasn't right and after talking to the owner's father his father told me that is just the way it is and it happens a lot. Especially on that particular brand of cars. I told him in all my life I've never heard of anything like that before. And he looked at me and said well it's the truth and he acted like he was going to come over the counter at me. I wouldn't take my kids tricycle to Northgate. Now I'm just stuck for $1050. If there were minus stars available that's what I'd give them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
