Mia's bakery is a Brooklyn gem. I was first gifted a slice of chocolate cheesecake cake for my birthday 4 years ago and ever since then it's been my go-to order. In my opinion, this place is so much better than Junior's cheesecake. The flavors are richer and taste much much better. They have so many unique cake slices as well as other baked goods. Yet again I have found a place that I have no business going into. I've passed this spot possibly 50+ times and was proud that I didn't succumb to the window display of all things guaranteed to put an extra 10lbs on your rear. So, i'm looking and they have some pretty good selections red velvet, salted caramel, and a few others, but what caught my eye was the Tres Leches cupcake. Now I've tried that type of cupcake at other places and it bombed. The best part of Tres leches is the soaked cake...so when I saw that the bottom of this cupcake was a tin like wrapper I thought ohhhhhhhhhh shhhhhhhh..... It was a legitimate Tres leches cake in cupcake form... it was completely soaked at the bottom with the three types of milk that makes it what it is. Needless to say that cupcake was destroyed. To my surprise I went to my trusty Yelp and found Mia's. Luckily it was only two blocks from the Bergen Street train station. It said it was open until 1am, so super score!! We walked the two blocks and came across the beautiful bakery that is Mia's. Their store front is a bunch of pies and cakes. Honestly, I did not expect what we were about to walk in to. We walked in and they have at least 7 cases filled with cakes, pies, macaroons, cookies, cheesecake, etc. They also have a coffee bar and seating as well. We ordered takeout because it was after midnight and we still had a 20 minute walk. After several minutes of debate we ordered the cherry cheesecake and the lemon blueberry cake. The cheesecake is to.die.for. Like best cheesecake, hands down. The crust alone is so buttery and yummy. I ate more than half of the slice myself and felt no shame at all. The lemon blueberry cake is also amazing! If you love lemons and blueberry you just can't go wrong. The whipped cream they put on top is yummy and tastes homemade. The workers were super friendly and we rushed back to our cousins place to devour this yumminess. The layers of chocolate, the thickness of the frosting, it's goodness from top to bottom of the cake. Went to the Brooklyn location & they are open for indoor dining. There is also a very cute outdoor seating area, that had a private event happening, looked like a bridal shower (GREAT IDEA)! There are tons of options here, more than Times Sq. locations. All sorts of cakes by the slice, or whole, tarts, gelato.. pretty much anything your sweet tooth desires! This is one of the best bakeries in Brooklyn! Mia's always hits the spot and their talents are vast. Their cupcakes are my favorite in the area, specifically for their unique flavors like tres leches (my favorite!) and creme brulee! I will say I prefer Molly's creme brulee cupcake in the city however, if you're in the area the creme brulee cupcake here is still great. Generally I stick to cupcakes and have yet to venture out to their other desserts like pies, macaroons, and cookies. I want to give a huge and ever so grateful shoutout to MIA'S BROOKLYN BAKERY AT 139 SMITH ST., BROOKLYN NEW YORK , and especially to KEVIN, who I believe is the owner/manager. I made an urgent request on Labor Day via The Knot for quotes from 5 bakeries in NYC and Brooklyn to make a small wedding cake and deliver it to a restaurant in lower Manhattan 2 days later. Kevin was one of the first people to communicate with me and he was absolutely wonderful in quickly walking me through my various wonderful options for the smallest wedding cake that they make. This was not going to be his sale of the year, but he acted as though it was! The cake was delivered on Wednesday, it was beautiful, and the bride and groom said it was absolutely delicious -- Mia's even added a bonus laminated note of congratulations from the families!!
