Stopped here along our walk after lunch. So glad we did. It was cold out and they had a nice covered area to enter and order at the window. I got the affogato which was perfect. Caffè Panna is a staple ice cream spot in NYC! Their flavors are amazing and the ice cream will always be phenomenal. The only thing keeping this from being 5 stars is: 1. The super long line 2. Constantly sold out of the flavors I want While, these are two gripes I have, if you go earlier in the day I think it solves both of these problems. Known for their panna (italian cream) They make in house ice cream with a diff menu of flavors every day! Youll have to check their ig story to see what flavors are available that day. I got the Caffee bianco stracciatella -- cold steeped coffee bean ice cream w/ fruity Amano chocolate shards. Panna is included and you get to choose one glaze and topping. The ice cream was creamy and delicious, but I couldnt taste the coffee. The panna was also good but just tasted like whipped cream. I rlly enjoyed the chocolate shards which added extra texture. Line was pretty long but goes by fairly quickly. I still prob waited around 40mins total at 7pm on a weekday. They unfortunately dont offer samples, and will most likely have a lot of sold out flavors by the evening. Def would come again to try some of their other flavors! read more

Came here on a lovely 60 degree Saturday afternoon around 2 pm. The line was incredibly long, quite far down the sidewalk but it was a lovely day so it was a pleasant wait. The people working here are also incredibly efficient so no major complaints. All the flavors sounded great but the caramel corn stood out to me. I ordered this with panna, olive oil drizzle, and a graham cracker crumb topping. I got a regular but in the future I'd happily get a mini since with the toppings the amount is quite generous! The ice cream was ready very quickly. It tasted great, panna has a great texture, the ice cream flavor was delicious, and the toppings really added a lot of taste. There's no place to sit around the restaurant so most people stand around by the side walk or walk to a local park if the ice cream manages to last that long. Will be back! read more

been meaning to try them forever but the lines always deter me. During the recent snowstorm, I got treated to their Tiramisu Sundae special (so she could live vicariously through my experience). It looked WILD on their Instagram and tasted as heavenly as I could have hoped. thick mascarpone infused ice cream, fresh panna, a candied ladyfinger, dusted w/ good espresso powder. I don't even like or drink coffee but love tiramisu. I just haven't had it in forever because the last few have been so disappointing. I knew there would give me hope and it did! Stopped by Caffe Panna near Irving Place/Union Square on a weekday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too crowded and had a short line, so easy in and out. There's no seating, so it's definitely more of a grab and go spot. The menu rotates flavors. I got a DIY sundae with a flavor called Ashes ice cream, caramel, whipped cream, and sprinkles - super good textures and honestly really good. That said, it came out to about $7.08 for the "tiny" size (That's what it's called). Service was quick and efficient, though not the warmest vibe from the staff, but nothing that really took away from the experience. It really is such nice blend of textures. Overall, unfortunately for my wallet and my stomach it lived up to the hype. 4.5/5. I'll definitely be back to try more of their rotating flavors. I tried Cafe Panna at Eeeeeatscon because it's allegedly a New York staple. It was really good, and I'm glad I tried it. I ordered the black and white affogato, which was surprisingly one of the only coffee options throughout the entire festival. I dont regret getting this choice at all. It only made me want to try more of their menu. The ice cream itself was amazing, though the hot espresso naturally made everything melt very fast. I loved the wafers they used. Finally tried Caffè Panna since it's been getting so much hype in the ice cream world. I stopped by after dinner for my friend's birthday to grab a quick dessert. The line looked a little intimidating at first, but it moved pretty fast. I waited about 5 minutes and got my ice cream in a cup within another couple of minutes. I ordered the cookies and cream, because you really can't go wrong with that flavor. It tasted amazing. The texture is what really stood out. It's incredibly soft, fluffy, and melts in your mouth. It almost doesn't feel like a typical dense ice cream consistency. It's super smooth and creamy. Overall, definitely worth the hype and a great spot to stop for dessert after dinner. read more

Loves: + ice cream is delightful. my faves for the classics are: red flag (sweet cream, strawberry swirl, graham crunch) and aud's dream (vanilla sweet cream with PB swirl) + rotating special flavors + accessible as far as ice cream goes in NYC with prices at: one scoop ($6.50), two ($8.50), and three ($11); even more accessible when you consider that it includes: panna (whipped cream), one drizzle and one crunch! This place has been at the top of my husband's NY list of places to try! We stood in line and both ordered a scoop of the Caffe Bianca Stracciatella: coffee bean infused ice cream with Amano Chocolate shards. He had his with whipped cream, caramel sauce and sea salt. Worth the hype! The ice cream here is so unique and good, and comes at a fairly reasonable price comparable to other shops in the city. The ice cream itself is solid, but the panna and free toppings are what make the ice-cream special - panna gives a light, fluffy, and espresso-y flavor that's the star of the ice cream! My one gripe is that they seem to sell out of flavors often. I've been here twice, and both times only ~3 flavors were left. I'd recommed coming earlier if you are looking for a particilar flavor. By the time we got here there were probably 30-45 minutes to close and almost everything was sold out. Since this was already very hyped up I was a little disappointed. I was only able to try the vanilla and it was good. I wasn't blown away but friends have told me other flavors are phenomenal so I think it's worth making the trek. read more

First Impressions: n/a... we lined up outside under a plastic partition... didn't look like we were allowed inside or that there was any room to sit inside The Noms: one of my favorite hot chocolates (first place goes to Rigor Hill Market)... the hot chocolate had the perfect drinking consistency, rich and thick without being too sweet or too bitter. I only wish that there was more of the whipped topping to add to the bottom half of my drink. I was tempted to ask for another portion of the whipped topping for the second half of my drink. Went on a very bitter cold line and they still had a line but they had an indoor waiting area so it was bearable. The line moved quick and they only had one soft serve option which was the Lemon Meringue pie. I was skeptical but boyyyyy was I shocked. It was SOOOOO good and fresh. Came here on a weekend after lunch and there was a short line in front of the store. The line moved pretty fast though and I think I waited for around 10-15min. I got a tiny of the Greek yogurt ice cream with biscoff and I topped it off with panna (whipped cream), sea salt, and olive oil. I couldn't really taste the Greek yogurt but it was still very good. Creamy and not too sweet! The best part of their ice cream is their panna! It is a must get! The tiny was $6.5 which I think was a pretty good price for NYC especially because it comes with toppings. read more

OMG SO GOOD! I came around dinner time on a Tuesday evening and there was basically no line. I ended up ordering a Caffe Bianco Stracciatella with panna, olive oil, and graham cracker. If I had more space, I would've looooved to order a bigger size. I was dying to try their Black Sesame flavor, but they were already sold out. The ice cream itself is really good! Creamy and flavorful. However, the star of the show here is that panna. The panna had a beautifully silky texture and it really complimented the ice cream. It was thick yet light and creamy at the same time and wasn't too sweet. I LOVED IT! I would LOVE to have panna on any ice cream I have in the future. My husband found this place on a must-try list for Hot Chocolate in NYC, so we decided to try it out! There is NO INDOOR SEATING! You order at one window, receive your order at a different window then go on your merry way. I was not aware of this when I accepted his request to go here, so just a heads up to you, dear reader. The staff were really friendly! Which I always appreciate. The hot chocolate comes in one size and is $7 per cup. I came here at the recommendation of a coworker who said that they had hot chocolate during the winter, but when I visited, I actually decided to get the affogato instead because I also heard that the ice cream is delicious here. This was honestly one of the best affogatos I have ever had, and that was largely due to the incredible whipped cream and the stracciatella ice cream. The set up is quite interesting because there's a very long counter and everything is outdoors, there's no indoor seating. In the winter, they had an enclosed space around the counter with heaters, so it was nice and warm -- although it did get a little bit crowded walking around people who were eating to order at the register. It didn't take long at all for us to order and get everything, and it was nice that we got to just stay under the heaters to finish eating and drinking. I would love to come back to try their ice cream in the summer! read more

I've been spoiled with stellar ice cream lately, with my two favorites in the world being Leopold's in Savannah, GA and Il Laboratorio in the Lower East Side. I felt my taste buds were primed to finally try Caffe Panna, as New Yorkers talk about it like Jesus Christ himself is back there whipping up the ice cream. My girlfriend and I arrived on a Sunday and it was PACKED, but they have the ordering system so dialed in that a line that looked like it was going to take 45 min only took 8. Fair play. I went with plain vanilla with olive oil drizzle, as I feel this is the best way to taste test an ice cream. Pure. No frills. The real deal. It was really really good, I'm not going to sit here and lie to you my dear reader. It was some high level cream, but it just didn't hit the same as Leopold's or Il Laboratorio. It was just a tad too creamy for my personal preference. Texture is everything to me. Caffe Panna was good, the ice cream definitely tastes fresh and full of natural flavor. Is it so good that you need to wait 45+ minutes in line for it? I'm not so sure. They do have affogato as a unique selling point, but honestly now that Salt and Straw is in NYC I don't see Caffe Panna as particularly special or noteworthy. Service is also questionable, staff all seem miserable, like asking a question about the menu is a personal offense. Not a great experience with their bizarre line system or the rude staff. Don't feel like you're missing out too much; this place is worth a visit if you happen to pass by when the line is small. But don't expect the best experience or mind blowing ice cream if you do decide to give it a try. read more

Ok so we ended up going to the very known caffe panna. It was a very cold February night so not too many folks in line . We tried the stratachella flavor and the strawberry flavors both were very good - not too sweet and very smooth . The cream itself is a bit to miss . Definitely a top 5 ice cream in the US. I will only say this once and I say it with my whole chest, caffe panna is the best ice cream hands down in New York and nothing can change my mind. Their flavors are always changing, which is amazing but also so tragic because I get attached to flavors and it's hard to say goodbye to a hyper fixation. All of their ice creams are so well balanced. The fruit ones always taste incredibly ripe, seriously try their strawberry ones. The inclusions are always top tier and add such great texture. The quality is overall superior. It has such a nice mouth feel and I really love that they embrace their collabs with other pastry chefs/influencers. The service varies but I've never had a bad experience here. The lines are long and you'll have to wait on a good day. There's not much ambiance to speak of. It's more of a walk up to a window - grab and go situation with some lingering areas on the side. Always get their whipped panna - it really just feels like a complete treat with it. I arrived around 8:00 PM on a Wednesday, and despite the late hour, still had about a 15-minute wait in line. While waiting, I was a bit bummed because right before I got to the counter, the remaining weekly special flavors were completely sold out. That was definitely a letdown as I was excited to try one in particular. So instead, I went for a classic: Vanilla with Panna, Caramel Sauce, and a sprinkle of Sea Salt. Even with a basic flavor, the quality of the vanilla base and the perfect balance of the sweet caramel and savory sea salt truly showcased why this place is so popular. Finally checked it off my list last Saturday. Walked 45 mins from our brunch at Rockefeller Center to specifically get dessert here. There was a pretty manageable queue but we got to the counter by 15 mins so it wasn't that bad. I was hoping they'd have Pistachio but they didn't so I went for a tiny Caffe Bianco Stracciatella with panna, fudge, and graham cracker. Pretty good! After hearing so many reviews on how this is one of the best ice creams in New York, I needed to go. I am an ice creams enthusiast, so I'm always excited to try new places. It is an outdoor cafe, where you place your order by the window. The server was quick and efficient with our order. It came out in less than a minute. They said their popular flavors are Cookies 'n Panna and Caffe Bianco. I got Caffe Bianco and Lavender Fig. Overall, the ice cream was good! For my first bite, I liked lavender fig more than caffe bianco, but by the end, caffe bianco grew on me. However, I think this ice cream is too sweet for me. Not gonna lie, I was pretty underwhelmed. I mean, Caffè Panna serves up a tasty scoop of ice cream, but when you're routinely touted as the top creamery in town, you'd better deliver. I'm generally skeptical that the payoff for waiting in any 30+ minute queue is going to be worthwhile, but I was doubly irritated that more than half the flavors on their menu were already sold out by the time we ordered, and surprised that they don't offer any samples. How do you even know if you're going to like one of their obscure creamy creations if you don't get to try them before committing? My only qualm with caffe panna is the line! Gave it a second try finally. It was worth it cuz I got the pumpkin biscoff soft serve which was phenomenal. I still think Gelatoville, glace or Butterfield are my favorite in the city but this is really good. I've worked in restaurants and bars long enough to understand that staff drinking happens, but this was on another level entirely. I came in with a group of friends and one of the bartenders, Will, was so visibly drunk that it made the entire experience uncomfortable. Slurred speech, wobbling behind the bar, taking orders while chewing food with his mouth open -- it was honestly embarrassing to watch. He looked like he absolutely did not want to be there. At one point, my group had been trying to get his attention for another round for quite a while while he stood around talking with coworkers. We then watched staff take a shot together, and when he finally came over he burped mid-conversation and literally had whatever he had just been drinking dribbling down his neckbeard. That was the moment where the whole thing went from unprofessional to just gross. What made it worse was that it didn't seem isolated to one employee. Throughout the night we watched staff openly taking shots and drinking behind the bar like it was a house party instead of a business. There's a difference between bar culture and complete lack of professionalism, and this crossed that line hard. One of the friends I was with actually frequents the DUMBO location and said that the last time she was there, the same bartender also seemed intoxicated, which makes this feel less like a bad night and more like an ongoing issue. The DUMBO location itself is in an amazing spot, which makes it even more disappointing. But ownership seriously needs to get control of what's going on there before someone gets hurt or the place develops a reputation for having drunk staff on the clock. Unfortunately, the experience was uncomfortable enough that my girlfriends and I won't be coming back. I genuinely hope the employee mentioned gets help if this is a regular thing, because nobody should be working service in that condition.
