Found the service to be a bit rude. Ice cream was good, standard. Girl working seemed really annoyed and it was clear in her tone when addressing us (big group).
Sunday and Cones has an old school ice cream shop feel that immediately wraps you in nostalgia. It's exciting to see all the flavors they have available..there are two long fridges full of options. I like that they have the classics but also unexpected twists like black sesame, Thai tea, strawberry matcha etc. The texture is creamy and soft and there's two cone options to choose from. I usually get a cup with 2 flavors with a cone on top - always a hit. The sales associates let you try samples and I always appreciate that. TBH it's hard to make a choice here because there are so many good flavors! This time I did black sesame and tiramisu. The black sesame was such a bold flavor I'm a fan! Tiramisu tasted boozy with chunks of lady finger cookies inside - also delicious!

Staff is friendly and generous with samples. I'd love to come back to enjoy their other flavors.
The ice cream is rich and creamy! I got corn and black sesame. Anytime there is a black sesame dessert, I am running towards it! The shop was busy on a Thursday night, but we were able to grab seats. Friendly staff members, cute ambiance. Flavors you won't find anywhere else.

Absolutely obsessed with the aesthetic and delicious treats here! The exterior and interior of this store are so adorable - it is the cutest ice cream shop. I visited on a weekend evening, and it was very busy. The employees were super efficient and kept the lines moving along. I was impressed by the gorgeous cakes that were on display, with so many pastel colors and fun designs! There was a fair amount of seating, but we had to wait a bit to snag a table since there were so many customers. The store's range of ice cream flavors looked absolutely amazing. There was a mix of both classic flavors and creative, unique flavors (Thai tea and taro were both delicious options). The individual scoops of ice cream were honestly a bit pricey, but I thought their "build your sundae" option was super reasonable. You could get three scoops of ice cream sandwiched between banana halves with various toppings for an affordable price. My group of three people had a hard time finishing the sundae, so it was definitely the best option price-wise. It was also just so delicious, with rich ice cream and tons of toppings. I can't wait to come back and try more flavors!
Nice service. They let me sample quite a few different flavors (of which there are many.) They also have coffee and cakes. Not cheap for ice cream but I love the Asian-inspired flavors. Taro single scoop cup $6ish but worth it for a sweet treat! Not much seating but grab some and go!
I had the blackberry sorbet ice cream and it was the perfect refreshing treat for a hot summer day! The staff was patient while picking a flavor and was friendly in their professionalism. I def recommend this ice cream parlor

While the price of a sundae is around $13 including tax, it comes with two scoops of ice cream, whipped cream, a cherry and your choice of two toppings. Highly recommend. Since they have my favorite, Butter Pecan, Sundaes and Cones is now my #1 ice cream shop in the city, overtaking Morganstern's, which no longer offers Butter Pecan.

My roomie and I both had the pistachio almond and loved it so much we almost got an entire pint of it. It wasn't too sweet, very creamy, and the best part were the pieces of almonds! Workers were great and very willing to offer samples. The portion sizes were very big, and at 6.50 for a single scoop in a cone, I would def come back.

This was super delicious, creamy, and yummy - kind of reminded you of Korean banana milk and banana-flavored Runts; some ice crystals here and there, but overall, pretty enjoyable. Like I said, price point is on the high side (~$10 for 2 scoops) but nothing too crazy for NYC nowadays. Wouldn't be too opposed to coming back again, they do have a wide range of pretty interesting flavour choices.
The pistachio is melt in your mouth good! Lots of yummy flavors, some of the creamiest ice cream you'll ever taste. Cute little store front with an array of flavors. Had to do a double scoop just for the heck of it. Fast, polite service. I recommend going in for your ice cream needs.
This ice cream shop has been around forever - 2000's maybe & is just slightly off the busy area of St. Mark's but deserves the attention! Don't remember what I had the previous 20+ years I went there after a group dinner. This time I was influenced & specifically took a bus over for their corn ice cream. It's STILL the summer of corn. Prices are now average - good for a scoop $7.50 & the portion is good compared to other craft ice cream shops in LES. The corn flavor was good. Medium flavor with that corn sweetness. The quality of the ice cream was excellent, medium creamy & very smooth with the teeniest bit of corn blended. Sampled the hazelnut which was great also - like a thick gelato. Would like to try the lychee next time. They have probably 20 different flavors, displayed well. The staff is patient & very nice. The space is very big for a business in the East Village with mostly a waiting area. 4-5 seats are up front & they set up a few plastic chairs on the side. On a 90°F day, the shop was filled with customers & groups. A stantion at the door with directions for 2 lines would help manage things better. read more

I'm kind of obsessed with this place. Not every flavor is good but the flavors that are good are VERY good. I think they make one of the best ginger ice cream out there. There's a good bit of ginger flavor as there's even a bit of spice in the ice cream. In addition, they put a lot of candied ginger in as well so each bite you get to taste the flavors. Also, the portion sizes are significantly bigger than at other ice cream shops - I can get one scoop and not crave more ice cream which doesn't always happen as a self-proclaimed ice cream addict. Overall, I'm excited to try more flavors. They recently came out with corn which I think is so interesting! read more

The Asian flavors here are quite unique and good-love that they allow samples! The black sesame, lavender, and hazelnut are notable callouts however would steer clear of the matcha rose swirl; it's more on the rose and less on the matcha earthy taste. As a small business they are pricey at $7.50 for a single scoop and $10 for a double. Worth the experience if you're in the neighborhood, but wouldn't recommend going out of your way for! read more

Cute little ice cream shop close to Union Square in Manhattan. The flavors are all very unique. I ordered two scoops to share and it was the perfect amount for two people. We had the Matcha rose ice cream and black sesame ice cream. The black sesame ice cream is so rich and nutty, and you can taste the black sesame seeds in it as well. The texture of the black sesame was what stood out to me. Every scoop had little bits of ground up sesame which to me, tells me they use real ingredients. I really liked the taste overall. Would say it's a "must try" if you're a fan of sesame ice cream. The matcha rose was refreshing as well. I thought it complimented the black sesame well. There wasn't a bitter matcha taste but you do taste the matcha and rose flavor there. Staff was attentive and polite too! They let us taste test flavors without rushing us. (Bonus points because they give a good amount for tasting so you can really taste it!) The store also has some seating so if you wanted you, you could eat there. They also had some chairs outside too. I would come back to try other flavors if I'm in the area. Overall good experience! read more
As soon as you walk in you are greeted by the most heavenly sweet smell. Such a nice large selection of ice cream flats and cookies. Everything was so fresh. Small areas for seating inside and a bench outside. I ordered three scoops: red velvet, strawberry cheesecake, and rum raisin. It all blended so well. Customer service which and friendly. It's the hottest day so far this year so I wanted to get some ice cream and tried this spot. Nothing special though. There were literally ice chips in my ice cream. I've have had better ice cream from the supermarket. Service eh. Not that friendly. One guy literally gave me a sample but then realized he gave me too many chocolate chips (which is what I wanted to taste) and I ended up with essentially vanilla. read more

Food: This is one of my favorite ice cream shops in New York City. They have a variety of flavors, including Asian and non-Asian flavors. Some flavors are seasonal and change from time to time, but my favorite is the almond pistachio and lychee. The Asian flavors include black sesame, taro, and Thai iced tea. They also make premade and custom ice cream cakes which are very pretty. Service: Staff are friendly and happy to give you samples if you want to try a flavor or two. Ambiance: There are a few tables in the shop as well as two benches outside for seating. Overall, I would highly recommend this ice cream shop! read more

Rich flavors in a very creamy base (their ice cream leans more on the softer side compare to other shops). 5/5 Thai Tea -- they do it here probably the best in the city-- very strong tea flavor! 4.7/5 Black Sesame - also very strong flavor, but a bit gritty in texture 4.7/5 Green Tea and Rose -- nice balance of the tea and subtle floral flavor 4.5/5 Mint Chip -- super minty!! This ice cream shop is one of my favorite ice cream shops in NYC! Love that it's family and Asian owned (I've seen the cantonese workers on multiple occasions). The workers are very quick and efficient and the ice cream flavors are diverse and yummy. The inside is quite big and there's limited seating indoors. This place can get crowded, especially if it's hot outside or it gets later into the day and it's dessert time. My go to is always black sesame without a doubt - super rich and literally tastes like having bites of black sesame. I've tried lavender which was seasonal and good, and I just tried the pistachio almond which is really good too! Not the greatest pistachio I've had, as the taste is more subtle, but still good nonetheless with the almond pieces. I'd recommend coming here anytime!! I've been here multiple times and plan to come back for more, especially in the summer. See you guys again soon! :) read more

in an age of overabundance and over-convenience (meaning too much of everything that is way to easy to get)...Sundaes and Cones is very much a neighborhood spot (AWESOME!) that does not cater to a consume-more mentality and doesn't really maintain a robust digital presence (which is a good sign they are focused on the ice cream and experience). the digital footprint of Sundaes and Cone is modest to say the least -- an old timey website and barely updated social media...and i love it because it doesn't lean into the absolute embarrassment of attention seeking beyond maintaining things (like a website) for basic business. Sundaes and Cones remains a casual friendly ice cream fantasy island that offers classic flavors (like Chocolate, Cookie Dough, etc.) as well as more off-the-beaten path ones that feel Asian influenced like (Sesame, Taro, etc.)...ice cream cones, cups, pints, etc. are available along with sundaes, milkshakes, egg creams, and more. the concentration on ice cream quality is so clear and palpable that you can taste it from first bite to last. i have toured through many of the flavors--the mint chocolate chip is so good. mintiness that is NOT chemically enhanced but tastes like actual mint, smooth cream ice cream that is not overly sweet, and even the chocolate chips are thinly shaven, solidly chocolatey, and have some snap to them. typically, i order a cone upside down in a cup to enjoy spoonfuls of ice cream with the crunch of the cone as my final bite treat. tbh, any of the flavors of ice creams or sorbets are going to be good and hardly ever miss. the ice cream hits the spot whether it is winter, spring, summer, or fall. to me, spring (or early fall) is a sweet spot for ice cream when it is just warm enough that you want something cool and sweet with the weather allowing easy walks throughout the East Village. however, whenever you decide to give Sundaes and Cones a spin is a good call whether it's a frozen tundra of winter or NYC's humid summer. the ice cream parlor has some seating with benches outside. it's very clean and well-maintained with that soft warm ice cream parlor vibes of years long since passed. as the weather warms up, lines here build especially during the weekends as well as after dinner times. staff are friendly and patient. there's not a better recipe for an evening walk in NYC than dinner in the East Village, then walk over to Sundaes and Cones, and enjoy that sweet life stroll as you explore a neighborhood and devour that fine ice cream!* *all that praise aside, i got a Americano coffee here recently and i would say it was passably good. while i won't ding my rating of Sundaes and Cones bc it is really an outstanding ice cream place, i'd bypass the coffee menu here as the staff here don't seem to be well-versed in coffee-making from my recent experience and probably don't make coffee drinks enough to have it down packed. read more
I had begun to give up my search for the best ice cream in NYC when I happened to see Sundaes and Cones on my way back from a nearby restaurant. The interior is designed like a modern take on the traditional ice cream parlor setup. There are a few seats to sit down both inside the shop. The top two things I look for in ice cream are 1) flavor infused (not vanilla + mix-in) and 2) creaminess. Sundaes and Cones delivered on both of these criteria! I got a single scoop of taro ($6.30), and I was also pleasantly surprised this was taro (not ube)! If you like firmer ice cream, you probably won't appreciate the consistency as much as I did. My one reservation with this shop is the price point. I went back and forth on whether or not to dock a star because $6 for a single scoop without toppings is very pricey. That being said, when I go back, I need to see if they accept cash, because I'm pretty sure there was a credit card fee (price on menu is about $5.50 for single scoop). I will definitely be back to try the other flavors, and I will update the review accordingly. If you have the same ice cream criteria as me, then definitely add Sundaes and Cones to your list! read more

The black sesame flavor was super nutty and rich! I think this is more reasonable priced ice cream for the city and the scoop size was generous. I liked to see the array of Asian-inspired flavors. I would recommend and come back. Staff was friendly and there is an option to try some samples. The sugar and wafer cones are the same price as a cup, and special made waffle cones cost a bit more. I sampled the Honeydew flavor and it was too sweet for my liking. A very strong honeydew flavor. Unfortunately they're out of the famed lavender due to supply issues but a reason to come back! read more
