I got the riff sundae, and it was quite good. The vanilla soft serve itself didn't seem to be anything special, but when topped with the olive oil, honey, and sea salt, it was a great combo. I will admit it was very basic and something I could probably easily make at home, but it was very good nonetheless and it was executed very well with generous amounts of olive oil and honey and a perfectly balanced ratio When I went, the line was medium length, but it moved relatively fast, and the ice cream was ready pretty quickly once I ordered. I probably will try something else next time I come back just for variety, but if if it's your first time the riff is solid and worth giving a shot for a more elevated sundae experience. I did like the aesthetic of the place at night as well. read more

Soft serve until 11pm, and 2am on weekends! We "saved room" every dinner so we could go there after. (By "saved room", I mean we left behind one pizza crust) The peanut butter and jelly soft serve is not bad, but it looks better than it tastes. I get the Bruce with vanilla soft serve, hot fudge, brownie bits, and hazelnuts. On a lively street in Nolita, Softside is the antithesis of McDonald's "broken ice cream machine", and just another reason to stay in SoHo when we visit. read more

This is a little spot in Nolita with another location in Flatiron. I went specifically to try the pistachio soft serve. There was no line, which surprised me as the froyo place next door had a line out the door. I loved the nuttiness of the soft serve and the sprinkles I added to my ice cream were crunchy, not stale. I also appreciated the fact that they ran me up really quickly and served me immediately. The presentation of the soft serve is a 10/10. This was a hefty ice cream cup, so it was very filling and satisfied my appetite for the next 2 hours. It melted relatively quickly, but that's expected in this season. read more

Soft side is always delicious, and this location is very conveniently located, especially if you wanna avoid some of the other really long lines in the area service has tended to be quick when I've gone, and while there is no seating of any kind, it's easy enough to grab and go! read more

Great soft serve place in the city. Got the sea salt olive oil soft serve. The ice cream was fantastic. Wasn't really a huge fan of the sea salt olive oil combo. Great soft serve spot! Had a bit of a wait post dinner on a weekday night. I loved the strawberry soft serve dipped in the chocolate. I loved that the ice cream was not too sweet and the shell was nice. Price is not cheap. There were a couple of tables outside that seemed to be shared with the pizza spot but it was hard to get seating. Servings were quite large. read more

Stopped by Soft Side Ice Cream for a cold treat and tried their weekend-only Starburst collab. I went with the strawberry and orange swirl in a cup, which came to $7.73. I came here for a sweet treat with one of my girl friends after our dinner and it hit the spot! This spot doesn't have indoor or outdoor seating, so it's definitely a grab and go spot, but I didn't mind! Their menu is fairly simple with four flavor options: chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, and strawberry. However, you could definitely get some toppings to add on! My friend and I got their chocolate/vanilla swirl & pistachio/strawberry swirl. Both were delicious, and portion sizes were great. Staff is super friendly and there are 2-3 tables outside you can sit at (granted it's not already filled with customers from their pizzeria next door). We tried the olive oil ice cream, it was definitely an interesting experience! Still not sure if this is for me but the olive oil is not as heavy as other places' I've had. They also had salt and honey which definitely switches up the vibe and adds to it. read more

My friends and I were craving for desserts after dinner. We did a quick google search and found this place and decided to come here to try their olive oil ice cream. The ice cream was very creamy and I actually really liked the olive oil with ice cream. They also put sea salt all over the ice cream which was a nice touch but they kinda over salt it and some bites were way too salty. The ice cream was also kinda pricy and it was almost $10 after tax. It was pretty big and could definitely be shared between two people though. I will probably come back in the future but will definitely ask them to put less salt in the ice cream. read more

This place is fine. It's not bad but it's not amazing either. Honestly only gave 2 stars because of the price as well. We got the riff which is honey, olive oil, and sea salt and that is $10. It's literally just vanilla soft serve with a bunch of olive oil squirted on top. The assembly is so basic and we're paying $10 for this lol. The taste is what you would expect, I would've preferred if it was olive oil infused ice cream instead. The amount of ice cream given is also not a lot. All in all, not worth the price or pit stop. Wouldn't come here again. read more

Checked out soft side on a nice warm evening. I prefer soft serve ice cream to traditional. Customer service was welcoming and I ultimately decided on the strawberry and pistachio swirl. Came here after seeing this on social media. It has been one of those places that's gotten a lot of publicity online. Long line when we went although it was a hot and humid night. A lot of people sitting in the shed taking pictures of their ice cream as well. The line moved way slower than expected. They seemed pretty understaffed with only one person taking orders and making food, so things would get very bogged down if someone ordered a milkshake or something that required preparation. They have lactaid available which is a nice touch. The soft serve was on the softer side of what I've had before and melted fairly. The famous honey and sea salt ice cream was just ok. Softside offers really high quality soft serve ice cream. The ice cream is almost pillowy in texture, making this soft serve much more luxurious than any other type of soft serve ice cream I've had before. So far I have had the pistachio and vanilla flavor ice creams, next on my list to try is the strawberry. Employees have been friendly and efficient, service is almost instant. Downside (no pun intended) is that it is pricer than a cone from McDonald's or Dairy Queen, but you are paying for quality. They also do not offer samples, so I've just been lucky that I have enjoyed what I got both times. read more

Stopped by this ice cream window, which is operated by the very good pizza place next door, and ordered a vanilla/chocolate swirl in a cone. It was tasty, but at $7.50, the quality definitely did not justify the price. Would maybe try one of the more interesting flavors next time if I happen to be in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

Delicious but employees always look miserable , sometimes don't even speak a single word to you when taking your order. Also, they raised their prices about a year ago, so now I don't really think it's worth it unless you're in the area on a HOT summer day and need ice cream badly read more

Softside had a long line but the wait wasn't too bad - and it was worth it! We got chocolate with fudge and a vanilla with olive oil and both were so amazing I really dont know which I liked better. Putting olive oil (and flaky salt) on soft serve is so simple but genius. The area isn't really somewhere you can sit around and hang out, it's more of a grab and go. But there are plenty of shops and things to do nearby that it's def a spot you should check out! Can't wait to go back and try other flavors. I think I went late in the day on a weekend so they were sold out of their specialty flavor so I def want to try whatever they have in rotation. read more

I had a really disappointing experience at Soft Side. I ordered the Matcha ice cream, but accidentally took a pistachio instead since both flavors are green and there was no clear indication of which was which. When I realized the mistake, I immediately told the worker. Instead of helping, he laughed and scoffed at me, which felt extremely unprofessional. He then refused to remake the pistachio for the other customer, even though it was an honest mix-up, and I was forced to pay for another ice cream. What made this worse is that when he handed me the ice cream initially, he never said whether it was pistachio or matcha. If both flavors look the same, how is a customer supposed to know the difference without being told? Good customer service goes a long way, and unfortunately this experience lacked basic courtesy and accountability. I won't be returning. read more

This little walk up stand area place may be small but mighty. I saw this fro-yo go viral and really wanted to try it. I got the riff which was vanilla soft-serve with honey, Olive oil and sea salt. I know this sounds weird and gross but don't knock it till you try it. They also have other speciality combo nations that one can try. The two guys that worked here were very nice. I came here a few days ago on one of the hottest days but the machine was broken:( I was glad I was able to try it out! read more
