I got the vanilla soft serve with chocolate dip! The chocolate dip was pretty good, but the soft serve melted almost instantly. They were pretty busy, but the line moved fast, and I didn't have to wait too long. It was pretty packed, so there wasn't much seating. Definitely worth a try, but I'm not sure if it is worth the price
Soft serve until 11pm, and 2am on weekends! We "saved room" every dinner so we could go there after. (By "saved room", I mean we left behind one pizza crust) The peanut butter and jelly soft serve is not bad, but it looks better than it tastes. I get the Bruce with vanilla soft serve, hot fudge, brownie bits, and hazelnuts. On a lively street in Nolita, Softside is the antithesis of McDonald's "broken ice cream machine", and just another reason to stay in SoHo when we visit.
This is a little spot in Nolita with another location in Flatiron. I went specifically to try the pistachio soft serve. There was no line, which surprised me as the froyo place next door had a line out the door. I loved the nuttiness of the soft serve and the sprinkles I added to my ice cream were crunchy, not stale. I also appreciated the fact that they ran me up really quickly and served me immediately. The presentation of the soft serve is a 10/10. This was a hefty ice cream cup, so it was very filling and satisfied my appetite for the next 2 hours. It melted relatively quickly, but that's expected in this season.
This storefront was so quick and amazing! The ice was so yummy! We got multiple toppings and different flavors and nothing disappointed!
Great soft serve place in the city. Got the sea salt olive oil soft serve. The ice cream was fantastic. Wasn't really a huge fan of the sea salt olive oil combo. I would definitely come back to try a different flavor. There's a few seats and it came out pretty quickly. Would definitely stop by this joint
Great soft serve spot. Delicious ice cream. Grab and go type of spot. We got the matcha hard shell for the picture and to just try it out. It was fun to crack the shell and the ice cream was still good! The inside was a delicious smooth vanilla. Fun experience and cute picture!
Stopped by Soft Side Ice Cream for a cold treat and tried their weekend-only Starburst collab. I went with the strawberry and orange swirl in a cup, which came to $7.73. The flavor was extremely fruity, and refreshing -- a fun twist that really worked well together. Definitely glad I caught this collab while it was around.
Ice cream flavor is okay. I got the matcha and a chocolate hardshell with vanilla ice cream. It melts really quickly. I wouldn't say this place is too exciting in terms of flavor offerings/ menu options. Pretty standard soft serve ice cream place. There's only limited outdoor seating.
It wasn't exactly ice cream weather but that didn't stop us! We wanted a banana split but they were out of bananas so we had a strawberry shortcake sundae instead. It made our trio quite happy with its multiple applications of strawberry (sauce, fresh, freeze-dried).
Really good soft serve!!! I think Butterfield or glace is still my fave but this is great! I do wish they had more seating though.

I came here for a sweet treat with one of my girl friends after our dinner and it hit the spot! This spot doesn't have indoor or outdoor seating, so it's definitely a grab and go spot, but I didn't mind! Their menu is fairly simple with four flavor options: chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, and strawberry. However, you could definitely get some toppings to add on! My friend and I got their chocolate/vanilla swirl & pistachio/strawberry swirl. Both were delicious, and portion sizes were great. The only thing is that I wish the pistachio flavor was a bit stronger, but it was still great nonetheless. Great soft serve!
The sundae was great and the matcha shell was a great pairing for sweet soft serve. Staff were very sweet and quick to serve. The only comment I have is that seating is hard to find and I had a hard time finding a garbage can for when we were done.

Fast line but there's definitely better ice cream out there for the price. Good quick bite if you're dying for an ice cream but walk a few blocks more for a better spot. read more

Good if you want a standard soft serve experience from an order and takeout spot. The cones are huge, I could not finish one on my own. I got the cherry dipped chocolate cone. Quick service. Vibes are retro cute. read more

Came here for a sweet treat after dinner and loved this place! It's a cute pop-up that's right along the streets of Soho. The service was fast and they do samples if you want to test out any flavors. I liked how the menu was pretty straight forward / easy to understand. I ordered a chocolate and strawberry soft serve and the flavors were soooo good. It was creamy but also icey at the same time. Topped it w/ some hot fudge, whipped cream, and chocolate shavings (am a sucker for chocolate shavings compared to choc chips). Will definitely be coming back! It was the perfect creamy and refreshing treat especially because of how hot and humid it was. read more

This little walk up stand area place may be small but mighty. I saw this fro-yo go viral and really wanted to try it. I got the riff which was vanilla soft-serve with honey, Olive oil and sea salt. I know this sounds weird and gross but don't knock it till you try it. They also have other speciality combo nations that one can try. The two guys that worked here were very nice. I came here a few days ago on one of the hottest days but the machine was broken:( I was glad I was able to try it out! read more
Softside had a long line but the wait wasn't too bad - and it was worth it! We got chocolate with fudge and a vanilla with olive oil and both were so amazing I really dont know which I liked better. Putting olive oil (and flaky salt) on soft serve is so simple but genius. The area isn't really somewhere you can sit around and hang out, it's more of a grab and go. But there are plenty of shops and things to do nearby that it's def a spot you should check out! Can't wait to go back and try other flavors. I think I went late in the day on a weekend so they were sold out of their specialty flavor so I def want to try whatever they have in rotation. read more

Oh. My. God. Softside definitely hit the spot during our walk around the city. It was day one and super humid. We chugged a bunch of water but the soft serve gave a different cooling effect. I ordered a plain Strawberry Soft Serve in a cup ($6.50). Hubby ordered The Riff ($9) which had olive oil and sea salt toppings. His order tasted like the Salt & Straw olive oil flavor. It was good but the pool of oil just felt heavy. My strawberry was light and flavorful as I expected. read more
I was sadly underwhelmed by my experience here. I'm all about olive oil on ice cream, the perfect marriage between sweet and savory. We opted to try The Riff without honey (because it seemed unnecessary) perhaps it would have been better if we tried it with. Truly it comes down to the quality of the soft serve, which felt like a miss for us. Visually, stunning. Taste, not memorable. Looks are deceiving here, I thought it was going to be full of vanilla and beautifully creamy, but she was a little bland and more icy than creamy. Lastly, $10 for soft serve with olive oil seems a little steep, even for NYC. I'm glad I tried it to cross it off the list, not sure I'd return though. read more

YUM!! This is some dang good soft serve. I got the vanilla cone dipped in chocolate and it was perfect, just a little messy. The line moves super quick and there's tables across the sidewalk you can sit at. We also got the pistachio which was just as good! Paid $7.50 for the dipped cone! read more

Realistically 3.5. Glad upside pizza opened up their ice spot - everyone's got a soft side! PISTACHIO SOFT SERVE ($6.5) The texture leans towards more solid which I assume allows for the nice swirl shape you get. The flavor is nutty forward and not too sweet though admittedly a bit artificial tasting. You don't really get that same level of pistachio natural sweetness you might get from a good pistachio gelato. The cone is crispy and airy like a proper cake cone. Also note that the toppings you can add are limited in cone form. To dip the cone is to add a dollar jsyk Would I come back? Maybe if my friends wanted ice cream and we were in the area - would try their sundaes next time read more
This place recently opened along with their pizza spot, upside. They serve soft serve here. Considerate enough they have lactaid pills for those who are intolerant so they can also try this! They have 4 basic flavors (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and pistachio) but immense amount of customization! I got the vanilla flavor with rainbow sprinkles and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. The vanilla was very creamy and rich, probably one of the best vanilla soft serves I've ever tried. Would definitely come back for other flavors to eat along their pizza! read more

This was really excellent. First visit, got pistachio with chocolate shards, which was pretty perfect, and my wife got the vanilla with chocolate shell, both of which were excellent. I don't know that I could pass on the pistachio next time but my wife said she'd want to try the chocolate. read more
Never met a soft serve I didn't like - it truly is my favorite type of ice cream. This one is exceptional. I have only tried pistachio, it was amazing. It felt natural and clean. It's a pretty large ice cream, ended up being our lunch that day. Can't wait to be back and try more flavors. read more

Awesome sundaes. We went to try the olive oil sundae (it's called Riff) which was amazing. The service was good (they gave out free ice cream when no one picked it up) and the line, although long, is a pretty good testament to the popularity of the place. The outdoor seating is good, it's more of a pop up style place. read more

Whenever i'm in soho i always find myself going and getting ice cream from softside. It's always amazing and a great place to go with friends. They deliver the food very quickly the staff are always very helpful. The location is also great since after shopping around i can go and grab something to eat! read more

The line for this place can get long, but their service is quick. Prices are kind of insane for soft serve, but they give you a lot. There wasn't as big of a hollow inside as I expected there to be. I got a chocolate and vanilla mix. Surprisingly, it wasn't too sweet. The chocolate was my favorite part of the mix. It's quite smooth and creamy. Doesn't melt too quickly. Seemed like they give more soft serve if you get it as is compared to getting their sundaes. Definitely a good treat to have during a hot day. read more

Softside has this calm, cozy vibe the second you pass by, with music always blasting (GOOD MUSIC), almost like a place that understands people just want good ice cream without the chaos. Although it is right next to a froyo place, this place still gets the audience it deserves because it is THAT GOOD. The display case is super clean, and the colors of each flavor look so bright it's almost like they're calling your name.I tried "The Italy", and it was smooth, sweet and soft. You can tell they actually care about the ingredients because the flavors taste fresh instead of artificial. The staff was patient when I asked for samples, which made the experience even better. The best part was the huge jar of Lactaids, so there's no excuse for not being able to enjoy delicious ice cream. It's a small shop, but honestly, who needs a huge space when the flavor does all the talking? Definitely a spot I have returned to every time I go shopping at SoHo! read more

My favorite place of all time to get soft serve! My go-to is strawberry and pistachio swirl and it is soooo good! The perfect combo of sweet and nutty. There is a ton of outdoor seating and they have a great milkshake and sundae menu! Also appreciated that they had Lactaid for people who needed it. Be sure to give it a try as well as their pizza slice shop next door called Upside! read more
I already went to come again! Simple menu delicious options. I got a strawberry shortcake sundae and my friend got the pistachio with chocolate hard shell, which I want to get next time! The line is long outside but moves fairly quick. It's a small kiosk and low frills. They also sell lactaid! read more

I'm presuming this place is related to the pizza place next door as both of them have "side" in their names and they have another location next to thew new newest Upside in Greenpoint. Anyway outside of this note, the soft serve here was fine but overpriced. The most unique things here are the toppings and the sundaes. From toasted hazelnuts to amarena cherries (pretty positive they are Fabbri judging by the delicious syrup,) they are a step above normal soft serve and they are the best thing in the shop which is unfortunate. They even have a cherry option for dipping though I'm not sure if that is sour or sweet cherries (I presume sour based on the topping.) The flavors are mostly basic consisting of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and pistachio. As it was going to be $6.50 regardless, I went with the pistachio and got it topped with amarena cherries. The pistachio flavor was very light; a bit too much so for the price. I understand making it not taste artificial compared to some of the generic soft serve but this was on the bland end. For ¢50 more, I heavily prefer the nearby Bambina Blue as their flavors are much more unique and just better. I wish the actual ice cream had better flavor even for soft-serve which tends to be on a lighter end. Essentially if you're looking for a light pricey treat, go here. If you're looking for more expansive richer unique flavors, go to Bambina. 3. read more
Generally, I loved this ice cream even a cold day. Ambiance: (3/5) I don't like that there is no place to walk in, you have to order outside. If you want to sit down here you can sit in Upside (the pizza restaurant next door) that's owns Southside. Price: (4/5) Prices were good for the portion sizes. I was impressed. Food: (5/5) The ice cream was very creamy. I tried a few different things. The most interesting was the soft serve with olive oil. You wouldn't expect it to be good, but it was amazing. I also tried pistachio which didn't taste much like pistachio but it was still good. Lastly the Sunday was amazing with all the toppings. I had no critics. Service: (4/5) Everyone was very nice.
