I ordered the Pistachio soft serve in a cup and sat in a park close by to eat it. The soft serve was good but I felt like for the price, it wasn't worth it. Instead of stating we don't have a certain topping, could've supplemented with something else but it was painful to listen to how many items were unavailable so we just left. Decided to go back again with my friend ( lthis time during normal working hours on a weekday) and ordered the vanilla cherry dip in a cup. Now I've been seeing images of the ice cream here plastered all over social media, showing the olive oil drenching the layers of pillowy vanilla ice cream and the cup basically spilling over. I was actually really looking forward to getting a cup similar to that since it's all I've seen online. At least standard to a normal size should be good too. After ordering, I received my ice cream and it was 95% cherry dip and barely any ice cream itself. Granted the ice cream (whatever there was) was drenched in the cherry dip, but the amount of ice cream for $7.50 was outrageous. It was barely 3 bites and since it was for my friend I did not get a pic in before hand but even for her- she was surprised how small the portion was! I would definitely skip this place. I'm presuming this place is related to the pizza place next door as both of them have "side" in their names and they have another location next to thew new newest Upside in Greenpoint. Anyway outside of this note, the soft serve here was fine but overpriced. The most unique things here are the toppings and the sundaes. From toasted hazelnuts to amarena cherries (pretty positive they are Fabbri judging by the delicious syrup,) they are a step above normal soft serve and they are the best thing in the shop which is unfortunate. They even have a cherry option for dipping though I'm not sure if that is sour or sweet cherries (I presume sour based on the topping.) The flavors are mostly basic consisting of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and pistachio. As it was going to be $6.50 regardless, I went with the pistachio and got it topped with amarena cherries. The pistachio flavor was very light; a bit too much so for the price. I understand making it not taste artificial compared to some of the generic soft serve but this was on the bland end. For ¢50 more, I heavily prefer the nearby Bambina Blue as their flavors are much more unique and just better. I wish the actual ice cream had better flavor even for soft-serve which tends to be on a lighter end. Essentially if you're looking for a light pricey treat, go here.
