When you order, you open the door for the cashier during the winter. The strawberry shortcake is better with vanilla ice cream because it was covered with strawberry jam and it has REAL strawberries! I freaking loved my Sunday! The service here is great, the location is perfect for us because our fav restaurants are in the area. I got a strawberry Sunday with some added chocolate. A new soft serve spot open up on Spring and I'm generally not big on soft serves but the cone looks too pretty to miss. I got the pistachio soft serve on a cone and the swirl looks so satisfying. They also have vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry for soft serve flavors. They also have milkshakes and sundaes that sound really good. I enjoyed the pistachio flavor and can taste the nuttiness. I wanted to add pistachios as a topping but I was told it'll fall off and I didn't want it in a separate cup so I left that out. Overall a cute spot for some ice cream. read more

Cute little shop with soft serve. They have the typical vanilla chocolate but also pistachio and strawberry. I got the pistachio in a cone which was a lot of ice cream. I could have had a twist with strawberry but since my friend got strawberry, I decided to stick with one flavor. It was pistachio-y and good but richer than what I was expecting. The cashier said the mix was good but I was skeptical. To my surprise, mixing them was good but glad I didn't have a whole coke of it. It was freezing cold the day I had this, but that definitely wouldn't stop me from doing there. See my ratings below: Ambiance: 3/5 - Nowhere to sit as you'd have to go in to Upside which is the restaurant next door that owns this location. There's no real ambiance here for me to rate. Price: 5/5 - Prices and portions matched well and I was genuinely happy with what I paid for what I got (Pistachio soft serve). Food: 5/5 - High quality and creamy ice cream. Loved the Pistachio soft serve as it was one of the best pistachio flavored desserts I've ever had. It was super creamy and was very easy to eat even on the cold day. My friend and I visited this relatively new ice cream stand on our way to Soho! We had the option of either getting a cone or a bowl, but we later learned that if we got a cone, the topping options were limited. I got a strawberry ice cream cup with chocolate shavings and strawberries, and it was very satisfying. Ice cream was too melty to stay on a cone but they didn't realize until after we ordered; the guy at the counter put it in a dish for me which was a nice thought but if it couldn't stay on a cone I would have gotten a sundae. But then it didn't matter because the ice cream was also really bad - icy, no flavor, not creamy at all. I'd been here a few years ago and remember it being great, but will not be back. read more

So this review is a bit overdue, I was wandering around Soho/Nolita and I walked by and decided to give it a try. They specialize in soft-serve ice cream with various toppings. The sundaes and milkshakes sounded yummy but I just wanted something simple since I was going out later. I ordered a cup of vanilla and when I saw they had amarena cherries as a topping I knew I wanted it. The guy helping me was very generous with the cherries on my cup of ice cream. In addition, the service was great. I sat down at a table right near the counter outside. (It's an outdoor takeaway). The ice cream was creamy but definitely richer than typical soft serve which I think was what they were going for. Definitely a great option for a treat in the area and also a great dessert after pizza from their restaurant next door. read more

Great soft serve! Walked by on my way back from dinner and dessert sounded great. They have different flavors of soft serve, but for my first time I wanted to go with vanilla. They offer many different toppings, as well as sundaes. I chose the sundae that came with olive oil, honey and sea salt. They were very generous with the toppings - maybe a bit too much sea salt for my taste? The soft serve itself is great, amazing texture and flavor. Paired very well with the flavorful olive oil. Tried the viral Riff with vanilla, which is vanilla soft serve with olive oil, honey and salt. The honey firstly was nonexistent. You really only taste the oil and salt. I don't think these flavors really compliment each other as the oil does not combine with the ice cream. Each spoon tastes like exactly what it is. Ice cream with oil; yuck. I give two stars because the flavor of the vanilla by itself was really good. The texture was nice and creamy. Skip the oil and just do the ice cream by itself. It's not worth the almost $10. read more

I left a review on Google that was balanced, honest and fair. The owner of this ice cream spot left a super nasty, completely unprofessional and petty reply. Google does not have a feature that allows me to respond so I'll do it here. The toppings you use are for the most part, lower quality. They are not premium by any yardstick. If you're going to leave such a rude and petty reply, then make very sure that you can back it up with facts. Your chocolate shell is AWFUL. It is super low grade. Your brownie bits are like Hostess...not homemade, or from a good purveyor here in nyc. The shortbread cookies and hot fudge and candy bits are not even close to what is on offer at Caffe Panna. So up your game, and re-evaluate the quality of your total offering instead of taking nasty shots at an honest reviewer. Improve your product. read more

The soft serve without any additional toppings is $6.50. There was nothing special to this soft serve, it's about the same as the McDonald's chocolate dipped soft serve except with an elevated price. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

My boyfriend is obsessed with Upside and I'm a dipped cone junkie so, as you can imagine, we were both thrilled when Softside opened up. The soft serve is delicious (especially the pistachio flavor) but my main point of constructive feedback is to be consistent with the serving size -- given the price point, it only truly feels "worth it" when the cone is large, which sometimes it is! But sometimes it's a super small portion that leaves you wondering why you paid $7 (with tax) for it. I think that's just part of a learning curve, especially with so many new staff members, so I'm still looking forward to my next cone. (Also, I may also be holding out in case they introduce waffle cones... now THAT would be next level.) read more

There are different types of cold treats: gelatos and more slushie like consistency frozen confections that are served in a cup. I do not like saccharine dessert. The fresh raspberry jam was a perfect balance to the pistachio cream. I never like jams in my desserts, but this was a perfect complement. Woooow, what a treat! Prices are now average - good for a scoop $7.50 & the portion is good compared to other craft ice cream shops in LES. The corn flavor was good. Medium flavor with that corn sweetness. The quality of the ice cream was excellent, medium creamy & very smooth with the teeniest bit of corn blended. Sampled the hazelnut which was great also - like a thick gelato. Would like to try the lychee next time. They have probably 20 different flavors, displayed well. The staff is patient & very nice. The space is very big for a business in the East Village with mostly a waiting area. 4-5 seats are up front & they set up a few plastic chairs on the side. On a 90°F day, the shop was filled with customers & groups. A stantion at the door with directions for 2 lines would help manage things better.
