Cannoli Bread Pudding
Helaine R.

The avocado breakfast sandwich was delicious. It is really a BLT with avocado and egg on it. It hit all the right notes with the multigrain toast. It came with a side of fresh fruit which was very fresh. Finished with the cannoli bread pudding which was insanely good. Service was great and manager checked in to see how our meals were. Ambiance is a typical diner in a strip mall. There are lots of menu choices and there are always specials.

Shoutout to our local community heroes! This is my favorite fried chicken place because it's such a juicy inside and flavorful crispy outside! I literally crave it! I have went to several locations of this restaurant chain and the consistency is amazing. Great hard working staff and great food choices!! It no wonder why they have so many locations. I try to get other things when I go, because I know that I have to wait patiently for my chicken... but I mostly know it's worth the wait. I'll doodle on the placemat for a little while and then smile ear to ear when that beautiful plate of chicken comes out!!! Beautiful, crunchy, and piping hot!! Yummmm

Wasn't too pleased with our time here most recently, but we have always really liked Metro for the reasonable prices and tasty food. The food was a bit off today, didn't taste fresh or too good. Our service was still quick and the waitress was nice.

Stopped in on a Tuesday morning for breakfast. I had no wait and was seated immediately. Staff greeted me at the door and said goodbye when I left. Had the meat lovers omelet, English muffin, cheesy grits, and coffee. Everything was very good. I'd say this was a pretty basic breakfast meal and it all was prepared to expectation. Nothing fancy. This is a small Metro Dinner compared to some others in the North Florida area. It was clean and neat inside. The service was good. Ambiance was typical of a diner, nothing fancy. For what I had, they delivered and so this review is a five star.

Kitchen, tables, crowding.

There's a certain energy that emits from Metro's locations, which definitely varies from place to place, but this one was fun. The food always comes out fresh and crispy. Service here is what you'd typically expect. There was a weird moment while eating our grits that it felt (and sounded) like we ate sand. Bring a jacket, this is like Gaylord Palm's ICE Experience.

Pot Pie

Unfortunately, this place has really taken a nose dive. The pot pie was incredibly salty as if it came out of a can and had almost zero vegetables in it. When you go to order online, no matter what site is it does not give you a list of options to customize your meal. Upon ordering, I contacted the restaurant to ask for a different cheese in my grits and it came with a different cheese and not my request. I then called the restaurant. the server who answered was uninterested in listening to anything I had to say, and automatically put me on hold to speak to a manager. The unfortunate part is the manager was trying to be helpful, but didn't have an avenue for the public to reach out to upper management to have make a request to have online ordering adjusted or detailed better. It's sad that a scratch made kitchen went to premade food.

Great service from Danielle N! Food was great and not over priced. Always consistent in every location.

Metro Diner is my go to for comfort food. We are doing a close-to-home vacation and I had had a rough morning and by lunch I wanted something that I knew wouldn't upset my tummy. I was thinking meat and potatoes- we had spotted Metro on our way into town the night before and that's what I sweetly asked John for (he couldn't resist). The dining room is a good size, we were sat right away and our drink orders taken right away. John and I decided to split their chicken pot pie- I mean, tell me that's not comfort food! He also ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup (again with something easy) and I asked for a biscuit on the side. I will admit- biscuits across this local chain aren't always top notch, it really depends on who is making them, this day- they were perfect! The chicken pot pie came out bubbling hot! We broke holes int he biscuit topping to let it vent and slowly blew on our spoonfuls while we dug in. It was so yummy. Carrots, peas, celery, chicken in a creamy base with a buttery biscuit topping. YUM! And our soup was also wonderful! I think our server's name was Erica- and she was fantastic. Cheerful, checked on us numerous times, made sure our drinks were full & got us some to go drinks too. Thank you Metro Diner for being a constant for my comfort foodie needs!

Ask the Community - Metro Diner

Does this place have all day breakfast, even during dinner time?

Yep some of the breakfast items are served all day. Same with Village Inn - IHOP and Denny's.

Do they allow dogs?

I see dogs at the outside tables all the time at the Saint Augustine location.

Do they have wings and if they do are they good?

No, they do not. Buy why would you want to go there for wings, anyway, when there are lots of good wing places in St. A?

And the location is really cool - an old ice factory turned into a restaurant. Its industrial setting goes with the vibe. I also got an order of their soup of the season, which was a red curry. It was absolutely delicious. Had great flavor little spice at the end of it as well. For lunch, we split the fried chicken that comes with collard greens and whole cakes. The collard greens are by far one of the best that we have ever had. They use slab bacon and they're absolutely delicious. We've literally talked about them for years and they were just as good as we remembered. Fried chicken was nice and moist and the hocakes cakes were very sweet. For drinks, I tried one of the seasonal ones which was the witches of Eastwick. The gin based drink definitely was sweet, but exactly what I was looking for. My husband got an old-fashioned because they had black walnut bitters when he was really excited about.

The deck is covered and there are fans and windows so it did not get hot. The food was great! Bang bang shrimp wasn't spicy at all, had a nice tangy flavor, and the shrimp was tasted super fresh. The crab bisque fries were crispy and the bisque tasty. The lobster ravioli was SO good. I usually do not like cheese with seafood but this worked perfectly. It was creamy, savory, slightly sweet from the crab and shrimp cheese sauce it comes in which perfectly complemented the very stuffed lobster ravioli. The fish and wedges were really good too. Fish was meaty and crispy, wedges tasted roasted instead of fried and the coleslaw was creamy, crunchy and sweet. As a bonus, the tartar sauce was good too. Our server (Josh?) was very attentive, polite, friendly and quick. The menu isn't huge but I would come back if I'm in the area again. View - only thing good about this place, but you can eat next door for the same view or just walk around. Barely any cheese on the breakfast sandwiches. Very basic! As for the staff......our waitress was good and helpful. Then, about 5 min before we were done, I received a phone call from my daughter and grandson because they got a new kitty. Not something you just talk over the phone about, needed FaceTime! The rudest person I believe I have ever met in 50 years of life, poked her head around the corner and very loudly stated she did NOT want to hear my conversation, and to turn my call down or get off. There was only 1 other customer there, on the other side of the room, we couldn't even see from our seats due to a wall. This was JUST an employee. This woman represented the owner, her sister! We immediately got up, without finishing, walked to the front where I said that was the rudest experience I had ever had. She continued with, "no what you are doing is rude!" I said answering a call from my daughter is NOT rude! Treating a customer this way is and I walked out. My husband went to pay, and asked her if she was the owner. She said no, my sister is. To which he replied, "then I don't want to hear another word out of your mouth! Your opinion does not matter! She didn't like that at all. We paid and tipped our waitress but will NEVER return! I hope that her sister takes this very seriously! It is not ok to be that rude to your customers! I would fire anyone who talked to my customers that way. There is a way to handle things you don't like. She had zero empathy and her approach was unacceptable. Her clout, lacking lol!
