St Augustine Florida, you have a gem here at the Mellow Mushroom. If you have not been to this place yet, get down there and enjoy some pizza, beer, entertainment, they have it all. The place is totally kid friendly as well. I walk in and they were playing a round of bingo (they provide the markers for you). They have probably 25 beers on tap and what looks to be a full bar. Great decor and quite a few TVs available but it doesn't give the sports bar vibe. Now on to what you really want to read. I ordered a 10 inch. two topping, pepperoni and garlic pizza which is in the pictures(personal size 4 slices) and I have to admit you can tell they use fresh ingredients. If you like thin crust make sure you order it because the regular crust is a little more filling. Not in a bad way. The pizza had great flavor. The sauce is pretty good. And I know on yelp they have a free appetizer of their pretzel bites just for doing a check in, which I also included a picture of. Served with like a beer cheese dipper and a marinara sauce dipper, I definitely enjoyed the beer cheese more so. The only reason I didn't write this place a five star is because of the parking. I absolutely love mellow mushroom, especially the cosmic karma pizza. More importantly, I am absolutely thrilled that they continue to offer gluten-free pizza for those who cannot have any gluten at all. I've eaten at this location a few times and at other locations several times and never had any issues with my dietary needs. The quality of their pizzas is unparalleled. However, I was a little disappointed in my most recent visit with the presentation and the toppings of my pizza. Most of my crust did not have sauce on it and it appeared that the majority of the cheese was in the middle of my pizza, making it difficult to even pick up the slice of pizza. Instead, I had to rearrange most of my pizza to fill in the gaps of the crust. The restaurant was somewhat busy, but it was not slammed, so I'm unsure what went wrong with this particular visit? I'm still giving five stars, because it still tasted good and this is not a common issue overall. Our service was wonderful, and the timing to wait for our food was a average. My waitress was knowledgeable and assisted with my selections quickly. I was served the most delicious pizza and salad. We came to St Augustine for aVince Gill concert. We drove to the amphitheater so we would know how to get there later. On the way back we stopped here for late lunch. We ordered a "small" Caesar salad and the medium pepperoni pizza. The Caesar was not small it was pretty big. A lot of cheese slices and dressing (these are usually lacking at most places). The picture below is having eaten more than half of it. Neither my husband or I were able to finish the salad. The pizza came out and it was BEAUTIFUL. Super excited I grabbed the largest slice. I have to say it looked better than it tasted. It wasn't bad but I expected more from the way it looked it was just ok. The sauce is also the kind that is on the sweeter side. I'm not a fan of sweet sauce. The pepperoni has a nice bite to hit. The pepperoni is kinda all i tasted when eating the pizza. Really liked the cheese on it. Most pizzas the cheese is chewy chewy chewy. This pizza it was gooey and yummy. Not great pizza but ok. If in the area again I would try a new place though. My experience at the St. Augustine location was spot on and nothing short of awesome! This location has a jam band vibe that is personal and not contrived like a lot of MM's that I have been in. This Mellow Mushroom location has very good food and service, even during the late night hours. We were visiting friends in St. Augustine, and arrived around 12:30AM. The staff served us several rounds of Martinis, and an excellent appetizer of Bruschetta with feta cheese. We did not have a meal, but the items we did have were top notch. Our waiter met all of our requests, and was very personable. Coming from the home of Mellow Mushroom (Raleigh, NC). I can say that this location definitely is well represented. I ordered a pizza for pick-up. They said it would be about 25 minutes. When I get there, they said they needed a few more minutes. It took them any 10 minutes which was not so bad. I only live five minutes away. When I got home, the pizza was completely cold. This pizza was old. It was so cold, the cheese was hard. Which first begs the question, why did I have to wait 10 more minutes? It's obvious that someone ordered this pizza and never picked it up, so they gave it to me. I've been to many mm locations, but this has been the most beautiful. The service was okay, but it took a really long time for our food and the appetizers arrived at the same time as the pizza. Our kids pizza arrived last, which was frustrating, but small and forgivable detail. The funky Q. chicken pizza and pretzel bites were our favorite. We have been to two other Mellow Mushrooms and have waited 45min to an hour for food so just have not returned. As we visited St Augustine we thought we would give it another try. We ordered 3 pizzas. Basic ones. By 45 min we were ready to leave but they kept telling us it's almost ready. It came by 60 min. In the meantime they were catering to take out orders. We spoke to management. He admit they this was the case and let it at that. The second star is because the pizza was as described. But would still never return. Went here around 4:00 on a Friday. Not too busy, but it got busy within the hour. Thats because this place has probably the best pizza I've eaten. So many options to choose from! Service was outstanding by Magdelana and Taylor. Also had their pretzel bites which were equally amazing. They are not pretzel dough, so you get a little different taste. Served with their mellow sauce and beer cheese sauce, both delicious! The mellow sauce has a distinct red sauce taste I haven't had before. I think what makes this place special is the sauce and dough. Anyone can throw veggies on a pizza, but its those ingredients that make your pie great! Had 1/2 price pretzel bites for appetizer. For $4.25, there lots of them with 3 sauces. However, they didn't taste like pretzels; I don't recall any salt. Tasted like blobs of baked dough. I ordered the white pizza- again, for me, strong doughy taste. I also had happy hour red sangria (buy one, get one free.) Served in large soft drink glass with several large pieces of fruit. And I know it wasn't just me; he was very pleasant towards his male coworkers and the other guys sitting at the bar, but completely condescending/abrasive towards myself and the female server. Even though the food smelled good and the menu looked fabulous (even gluten-free and vegan options), I could not be in that place another moment. I have only ever caused a scene in a restaurant once (several years ago), and I felt like I was about to cause another one. I've been in town visiting friends for a week, and we noticed this place has been hopping since it opened. We lived near another location before, and we'd order their food regularly, so we ordered take-out to dodge the crowd. Well, let me back up. I called once and it rang for an eternity, so I hung up and checked the number. It was right, so I redialed. The phone rang TWENTY times with no answer (this is not hyperbole- I actually counted the rings aloud), so I hung up again. We scratched our heads for a moment, then gave them one more chance. We ordered, girl said she didn't hear 20+ phone rings, and we got our food. While we were paying, I decided to secretly call again to see what happened. Girl answered like in call #3.. so idk what happened. If you're thinking, "Ok, ok, but what about the food??" Then I will say I would definitely give this place five stars. We got a pesto-laden Kosmic Karma pizza and a tempeh hoagie and they were perfect. Mellow Mushroom offers any topping you would ever consider letting touch a pizza, and a whole bunch that most people would never consider. They're crazy and they will make some whack pizzas at your discretion. Don't test them (do test them!) But back to the stars.. this is a chain restaurant, and as such, I have to rate them based on a combination of their food -awesome- and their service -???- which is how I get three stars. I get that they're busy and bustling and new, and I was prepared to be out on hold for a while or give a long pick-up wait. I have yet to go wrong with Mellow Mushroom. Their happy hour is great, My hubby and I had $3 margaritas. They also make them "skinny" (which cuts out a lot of tartness). The menu is huge and so versatile: you always can find something for everyone. This time, my husband and I compromised and got a pizza that the two of us could enjoy. Since we have such different palates, it's hard to split anything. But we got 3 toppings that we could agree upon: artichokes, pepperoni and caramelized onions. It was fantastic. The pepperoni is a huge highlight here, it's one of the best I've had. And ever since I came here and had carmelized onion on my pizza, I want it on everything. Packed house, karaoke night (just our luck) Walked in, quickly greeted and seated. Very good service. We ordered the 1/2 portobello sandwich and a small mushroom pizza (for me) and a couple of drinks. Bottom line, never heard of this place before and we're not big fans of chains at all. But, everything was delicious and the service was great, even with the harmless drunk hovering nearby. This is a bar folks, no matter how hard they try to make it appear like a restaurant, it's a bar but with very good food and friendly staff and crappy parking. Would we go back? You bet. read more

Was looking for a bite to eat late at night. Mellow mushroom was open till 1am on Saturday. Which made it convenient. Ordered a cheese and a white pizza. Both were good minus the extra crust. Both pizzas needed more sauce less crust. A bit on the dry side when you have half the pizza surrounding....... crust. Crust was good though, but would rather have sauce and toppings more. read more

Love this place! We used to go all the time when I was in college, I'm so excited to see one open in St. Augustine! Great subs (it's the only place I've ever like tempeh), good pizza, great beer selection. The Datil pepper pizza is Awesome, watch out if you order it with the actual peppers - I'm Indian and could barely handle the spice!
