We came to St Augustine for aVince Gill concert. We drove to the amphitheater so we would know how to get there later. On the way back we stopped here for late lunch. We ordered a "small" Caesar salad and the medium pepperoni pizza. The Caesar was not small it was pretty big. A lot of cheese slices and dressing (these are usually lacking at most places). The picture below is having eaten more than half of it. Neither my husband or I were able to finish the salad. The pizza came out and it was BEAUTIFUL. Super excited I grabbed the largest slice. I have to say it looked better than it tasted. It wasn't bad but I expected more from the way it looked it was just ok. The sauce is also the kind that is on the sweeter side. I'm not a fan of sweet sauce. The pepperoni has a nice bite to hit. The pepperoni is kinda all i tasted when eating the pizza. Really liked the cheese on it. Most pizzas the cheese is chewy chewy chewy. This pizza it was gooey and yummy. Not great pizza but ok. If in the area again I would try a new place though. St Augustine Florida, you have a gem here at the Mellow Mushroom. If you have not been to this place yet, get down there and enjoy some pizza, beer, entertainment, they have it all. The place is totally kid friendly as well. I walk in and they were playing a round of bingo (they provide the markers for you). They have probably 25 beers on tap and what looks to be a full bar. Great decor and quite a few TVs available but it doesn't give the sports bar vibe. Now on to what you really want to read. I ordered a 10 inch. two topping, pepperoni and garlic pizza which is in the pictures(personal size 4 slices) and I have to admit you can tell they use fresh ingredients. If you like thin crust make sure you order it because the regular crust is a little more filling. Not in a bad way. The pizza had great flavor. The sauce is pretty good. And I know on yelp they have a free appetizer of their pretzel bites just for doing a check in, which I also included a picture of. Served with like a beer cheese dipper and a marinara sauce dipper, I definitely enjoyed the beer cheese more so. The only reason I didn't write this place a five star is because of the parking. I absolutely love mellow mushroom, especially the cosmic karma pizza. More importantly, I am absolutely thrilled that they continue to offer gluten-free pizza for those who cannot have any gluten at all. I've eaten at this location a few times and at other locations several times and never had any issues with my dietary needs. The quality of their pizzas is unparalleled. However, I was a little disappointed in my most recent visit with the presentation and the toppings of my pizza. Most of my crust did not have sauce on it and it appeared that the majority of the cheese was in the middle of my pizza, making it difficult to even pick up the slice of pizza. Instead, I had to rearrange most of my pizza to fill in the gaps of the crust. The restaurant was somewhat busy, but it was not slammed, so I'm unsure what went wrong with this particular visit? I'm still giving five stars, because it still tasted good and this is not a common issue overall. Our service was wonderful, and the timing to wait for our food was a average. My waitress was knowledgeable and assisted with my selections quickly. I was served the most delicious pizza and salad. All we could do is wait for a refund to the credit card. Manager said that the 2rd party delivery service is out of her hands once the order is picked up. This Mellow Mushroom location has very good food and service, even during the late night hours. We were visiting friends in St. Augustine, and arrived around 12:30AM. The staff served us several rounds of Martinis, and an excellent appetizer of Bruschetta with feta cheese. We did not have a meal, but the items we did have were top notch. Our waiter met all of our requests, and was very personable. Coming from the home of Mellow Mushroom (Raleigh, NC). I can say that this location definitely is well represented. I ordered a pizza for pick-up. They said it would be about 25 minutes. When I get there, they said they needed a few more minutes. It took them any 10 minutes which was not so bad. I only live five minutes away. When I got home, the pizza was completely cold. This pizza was old. It was so cold, the cheese was hard. Which first begs the question, why did I have to wait 10 more minutes? It's obvious that someone ordered this pizza and never picked it up, so they gave it to me. I like Mellow Mushroom, but this particular one seems to have some issues with their kitchen staff. I gave them a few tries, but I will not be going back there. read more

We have been to two other Mellow Mushrooms and have waited 45min to an hour for food so just have not returned. As we visited St Augustine we thought we would give it another try. We ordered 3 pizzas. Basic ones. By 45 min we were ready to leave but they kept telling us it's almost ready. It came by 60 min. In the meantime they were catering to take out orders. We spoke to management. He admit they this was the case and let it at that. The second star is because the pizza was as described. But would still never return. Had the misfortune of doing business with the WORST BARTENDER I HAVE EVER MET IN MY 10 YEARS OF DRINKING AROUND THE WORLD (and my experience as a bartender). Every synonym of "inept" and "rude" and "unkempt" applies here. It would take hours to detail each of the equally-valid complaints against my experience here. Maybe he's new at bartending. Shy? Maybe. Gay? Probably. Unfamiliar with the practice of NOT rolling your eyes when someone changes their mind on a drink before you even pour it? Or maybe he's a misogynist that abhors hygiene and likes smelling like a wet dog. And I know it wasn't just me; he was very pleasant towards his male coworkers and the other guys sitting at the bar, but completely condescending/abrasive towards myself and the female server. Even though the food smelled good and the menu looked fabulous (even gluten-free and vegan options), I could not be in that place another moment. I have only ever caused a scene in a restaurant once (several years ago), and I felt like I was about to cause another one.
