Service was great tonight from Eden. It was a slow night (Sat night) and we are thrilled because it is off season again! My kosmic pizza was insanely delicious per usual. The crust is just the best with this recipe. It's coated in pesto. This is my fav and I LOVE IT. The red wine sangria was very good as well. Loved the mint for garnish. This is a quaint pizza place on Anastasia Island that definitely supports the 60's drug/hippie culture. For me it was a blast from the past since I went to college in a hippie haven. Sarah was a delight. I'm vegan and it's been difficult to find places to eat in st Augustine. But when I found mellow mushroom I knew I'd have no problems with the food here. There was bingo happening when I walked in (sadly it was finishing up, it looked like fun!). And my server was Sarah. She really made my experience even more enjoyable. Remembered passing Mellow Mushroom on the drive in so we thought we'd give it a try. This pizza hit the spot! Hot, cheesy, and oh so delicious! We were about 30 minutes away when we called to order a medium pizza. Told them we had to be somewhere and didn't know if we would have time to eat it there but we might. They said ok no problem. When we got there the parking lot was not full We went in and saw many empty tables. We told them we were good on time would eat there. The pizza was the level I have experienced at a few other Mellow Mushrooms (LOVE the Holy Shiitake Pizza), but what I really appreciated is that upon entering on a rather busy day, we were greeted at the front and told that they were at capacity and it would be a few minutes before we were seated, giving us the choice to leave if we didn't want to wait. We decided to wait, and after only about 5 minutes we were seated. I appreciated their attentiveness and honesty even though they may have not gotten our business. The pizza was excellent and my small Greek salad was fresh and tasty, the feta cheese was so creamy and tasty. And my pizza was fat. The small is four huge slices. I went with the House Special, Mellow red sauce base with mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, ham, applewood smoked bacon, mushrooms, black olives, roma tomatoes, green peppers, and onions. Topped with extra mozzarella. And they don't skimp on the toppings. The pizza was so filling, l could only eat 2 slices after my salad. Mellow Mushroom is just cool. Stopped in late last night after our Ghosts & Gravestones tour! Just had a couple of appetizers and a beer! My triplet sisters and I are in town celebrating our 50th birthday!
