Mcgonagles has great vibes, their service is great as well. I love their pizzas! So far I've tried their pizza 2 and pizza 4. My fav is pizza 4 with the burrata and pesto! My boyfriend had the chips and fish and he enjoyed it. Their pornstar martini is also delicious!

This is a phenomenal spot for just about any kind of night. If you're looking for a casual pub night where you can get a massive fish & chips and a Guinness, go to McGonagle's. If you're in the mood for live music, go to McGonagle's. The artists they bring in are great! If you're looking for a girls' night out, go to McGonagle's - their cocktail list is divine and so unique. Service is always top notch, and the energy in there is immaculate. Photographed here is the Pizza 2, with pesto and burrata, and their wood fired pizza is a MUST. Overall, I have never had a bad experience here, and can't wait to come back.

So much fan fare for this new pub in Dorchester. Parking can be hard. They do have a small lot otherwise it's street parking. We were first sat at a round booth (4 of us). The circumference of the table did not match the booth. It was very awkward to sit. Thankfully our server was a pro and moved us to a table in the back room. That back area is huge. One thing that bugged me was the state of the menus. Mine was dirty and had clearly got wet before. It is a small detail but it felt a bit sloppy. What we got: - Fish and chips (8/10): The filet of fish was huge. It came with coleslaw, tartar sauce, and a side of curry. The slaw is very mayo heavy but I liked it. The tartar is easily some of the best I have ever had. I never had curry with a chippy before, it was great. The only reason this is not a ten is because they serve the fish on top of the chips. It looks nice but it makes the chips soggy. - Irish stew (10/10): This is a top notch beef stew. The meat was tender and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. Dipping the Irish soda bread into the broth is the move. - Shepherds pie (8/10): Great presentation and a very strong lamb flavor. I would have liked more vegetables in the mix though. - Pizza #2 (7/10): This is the pesto pizza. My friend ordered this and I have no idea why you would get pizza at an Irish pub. It was fine but definitely his fault for ordering it. Bathroom Review: Very clean men's room. It is a shared setup with two urinals and one stall. The stall has a full door for privacy. No paper towels, only a hand dryer.

Spice bag at McGonagles one year apart . No comparison last year lots of chicken , peppers, onions spices . Last week tiny amount of chicken, barely any peppers or onions or spices, no curry sauce . Very disappointing, Also , check had an administrative fee , total BS . Disappointed

I came with my book club group and we shared the cheese croquettes for the appetizer and I ordered the grapefruit fizz cocktail and the pan fried salmon and was impressed by the food! The restaurant is reminiscent of the Dubliner in Downtown in terms of internal decor and the food was just as good! The service was also great.

Old fashion- 1 fat ice cube just how it should be. Really good blended flavor. One of the better old fashions in the Boston area.

Really great atmosphere. Old fashion was perfect, one large ice cube. You can't beat it. Service great. Come here.

Came into check out McGonagle's on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed. If coming in a weekend, please make a reservation or get there before noon if you're cool sitting at the bar. Service was great and quick. Food was solid. For as busy as it was, it wasn't that nosy. Good place to grab a guinness and watch soccer or hockey

I had to check this new neighborhood place out! I will say it's gotta be tough competing with Scobies who just opened up, also Irish, right down the street. The ambience was fun (there's tons of space and seating) and the parking was easy. But the food really was very meh. We tried the spice bag, a pizza and the chicken and ham vol au vent. The spice bag was fun to eat from, but it was WAY over salted and ruined the dish. The pizza was WAY undersalted and also made it not very tasty. I will say that the pizza was half off (9bucks) because it was Tuesday, so that maybe is a fun perk to check out. The puff pastry was the best thing we ate! And the Irish drinks are obviously fun-but service was slower than it should've been on a Tuesday night. Overall a good bar, but maybe not the best restaurant

Walking in you would think that it's a small place with a bar and a few tables but then you walk to the stairs you realize this place is huge!! It's got lots of space with 2 bars perfect for large gatherings which was the case with a lot of my family meeting here for brunch. With the Irish pub theme, I knew I had to get something that fits and I chose the Sheppard's Pie. Wow was it excellent! The lamb filling was super rich and nicely seasoned and that mash potato topping was perfectly crispy on top which made it feel like a crunchy pie crust. Such a perfect comfort food! The service was great as well. The server was very attentive and friendly and got everything to us in a timely manner. Thank you to all the staff for a great meal and service!

Parking? Need more than an adjective, thank you, LOL. Are "restricted parking" areas clearly marked? Are there on street parking areas reserved for patrons? Are there meters?

    There is only street parking.

She was able to find us a table after a short wait at the bar. By the way, at the bar I had the best Guinness I have had in a while - a great pour. Once we sat down, Rachel was right there to welcome us and get us started. This exceptional level of service from her continued throughout the evening. We started with the sharing platter and each item was fantastic. Everything was hot and delicious. Of particular note were the pigs in blankets - the sausage is fantastic. The only disappointment was that it came with one scotch egg instead of two. For supper, two of us ordered shepherds pie, one Guinness pie, one Guinness stew and one Fish & Chips. Everyone was very happy with their meal. Great flavor/seasoning, good portions and perfectly cooked beef and fish. We continued to enjoy the Guinness and Smithwick's on tap until the end of the meal when got a round of Irish Coffee which was delicious. Rachel was spot on with her service and attitude and even engaged in a conversation with us about our next trip to Ireland and she reinforced our desire to go the north of Ireland including Donegal where she is from. At some point my wife told Rachel that it was my birthday and that I am not a cake person. Rachel managed to get the kitchen to make a personal size apple crumble which was scrumptious and happens to be a favority of mine. In fact my wife commented after that she would have ordered it but it was not on the menu as a dessert. Another example of Rachel going above and beyond the call to ensure we had a great experience. And we did. Thank you to Rachel and all the staff and chefs for a briliant evening. I can't wait to go back!!

We went down the stairs and inside. No one yelled Norm at us! Even though this is a major tourist trap - the food was fine. I knew my wife wouldn't finish a sandwich so we decided to split Sam's turkey sandwich and a bowl of the Boston clam chowda. They brought us the half sandwich and fries on two different plates, which was nice. It was nice fresh bread and the sandwich was real tasty. And I hadn't had New England clam chowder in a while - which I guess they call Boston clam chowder now - but it was great. Lots of chunks of clams and potatoes and we mashed up the oyster crackers and put them in there. My wife also ordered the Lilith Pan Asian salad with oranges and noodles - it was good but we really didn't need it. I ordered it the Bull and Finch IPA - I figure if they have a signature beer I'm gonna give it a try. It was satisfying for sure. There's lots of memorabilia around the place from Boston and the Cheers show. I only took one picture of that because I didn't want to be a pain to the customers that were there! Suffice it to say that, despite it being a tourist trap and a tad more pricey because of that - the Bull & Finch pub is a great place to go and eat and drink for lunch or dinner. Check it out!

Cheers is an iconic bar and restaurant that opened in Boston, Massachusetts in 1969. It was founded…read moreby Thomas A. Kershaw. Located in the basement of the Hampshire House (built 1910), Cheers was originally known as the Bull & Finch Pub (named for Boston-born architect Charles Bulfinch). Kershaw wanted to find a use for the building's basement, which at the time was inefficiently used as just storage. He and his business partner tried to model the Bull & Finch on English pubs, complete with accoutrements imported from England. In 1981, TV writers Glen and Les Charles and director James Burrows came up with an idea for a new TV show set in a lively Boston bar. Exteriors of the Bull & Finch were shot for the opening credits as well as insert shots. The idea turned into the TV sitcom "Cheers", which was a mega hit on NBC from 1982 to 1993. Although the interior of the TV bar was actually on a sound stage in California, the popularity of the show helped to boost business at the real Boston bar. In 2002, the Bull & Finch was officially renamed "Cheers" as part of a new deal with CBS Studios. A second Cheers location (modeled to resemble the TV bar) opened at Boston's Faneuil Hall in 2001. Unfortunately, it closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A replica of the TV bar was later built upstairs from the original Boston bar. My family I recently had lunch at Cheers while we were in Boston for the day. My wife and I previously visited the Faneuil Hall location in 2013, but this was our first visit to the original location. As you might expect, the real interior of the bar looks nothing like the bar from the TV show. It doesn't matter though; the atmosphere is pure Boston. We were seated in the back dining room area. To drink, I had a mug of Bent Water Brewing's "Bull & Finch IPA" (Hazy IPA) while my wife had "Strawberry Rosé Sangria" (rosé, Bacardi dragonberry rum, strawberries, soda water). I loved my beer, but my wife was a little disappointed with the sangria which she felt was too bland. To eat, I had the "Frasier's Chicken Panini" (grilled chicken breast, pesto, tomato & fresh mozzarella on focaccia bread), my wife had the "Nachos Grande" (crisp tortilla chips buried in Monterey Jack &cheddar cheese, topped with/ pico de gallo, served w/ sour cream & salsa), and our older son had the "Kids Chicken Fingers & Fries". We were all very happy with our food choices! After our meal, we did the touristy thing and visited the gift shop as well as the replica TV bar upstairs for some photo ops. Overall, we had a fun time at Cheers and hope to return on a future visit to Boston!
