Egg And Cheese Sandwich on Sourdough + extra crispy homefries
    Em B.

Victoria's Diner has been a staple in the city. They have a reliable breakfast, which is decent. It's an old school diner style and typically packed. My friend liked his eggs & cakes and my egg + cheese breakfast sandwich on thick sourdough toast was good. The eggs did not fill up the whole sandwich though. We both asked for crispy homefries but I was the only one who got them, mixed with onions. Ambience: 4/5 Food: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Victoria's Diner: 3.8/5

We like their country steak so much. That is the best cooking I got. Other items are also all well cooked. Food also has good portion. The boss and the waitress are very nice to chat with.

French toast berry's best thing was the only thing I liked

I also got grits with cheese on the side sorry didn't get a picture had to completely trash watered down no flavor. In a nut shell I wouldn't recommend this place. Was a complete was of $127 I got other things that was completely horrible as well burned bacon over priced Philly cheese steak that was so small for 23 and the fries was under cooked.

Had a fun breakfast here with my daughter and our friend. We were looking for a place we could enjoy which had some parking, since it was our last stop before heading back to NJ. This place was pretty close to our hotel. It's a fun, retro diner, that perfect combination of old grunge and great food. We parked, sat down and were able to order right away. I had a Belgian waffle. My daughter had a strawberry banana smoothie and the Rehab: two eggs, bacon and pancakes. She said it was all delicious. My friend had eggs, corned beef hash and a side of grits. Everything was great, we enjoyed everything and we had a blast. Being able to pay from your phone by scanning a QR code was good, too. Since 1949 - they have to be doing something right!

I visited this diner on a Sunday and from the moment we walked in, I could smell the goodness in the place! My friend and I went around 11AM and were seated immediately. I had the Spanish omelette and added apple sausage to it with a side of breakfast potatoes (pictured below). I really enjoyed it. The omelette ingredients were good and the chef was generous with the chicken sausage! I asked for hot sauce on the side, hoped for sriracha, but the options were Franks and Tabasco. Only real draw back is that my utensils weren't all the way clean and the booth we sat in had duck tape in it that was rising and damaged my pants a bit. Otherwise, I'd recommend Victoria's to folks and go back myself! Update: I've been back and tried the french toast which I enjoyed. The portion was hefty.

*** 11/2019 *** A seasonal specials sheet caught my eye. The Pumpkin Bisque with smoke gouda $5.99 bowl was savory tasty rich, but served lukewarm instead of hot. Both Victoria's Hangover Burger $13.99 (8 oz Angus beef patty topped with a fried egg, smoked bacon, American cheese, smother with black pepper maple syrup aioli) and Victoria's Breakfast Sandwich $10.99 (2 fried eggs, melted pepper jack cheese, famous turkey hash, topped with chipotle mayo) were served on a jumbo English muffin. Both were pretty good. I was just bummed that somehow I always seem to end up with the short end of the stick with my portion of french fries, which by the way, was terrific on this visit. Off the regular menu, the breakfast burrito (shaved sirloin with two scrambled eggs, peppers, onions and pepper jack cheese $10.49) was missing something. It just wasn't particularly well flavored, and the beef came out a bit tough. The portion sufficed though. *** 12/2019 *** New seasonal specials sheet, though there wasn't one on our table, so I borrowed the one I spotted at an empty table not too far away. Two of us ended up sharing two of the specials: Shashuka $14.99 This famous breakfast dish from Israel is a delicious mix of 2 poached eggs, smothered with mozzarella and gouda cheese, in a homemade tomato sauce spiced with onions, garlic, cilantro and paprika... Served with a side of toast and homefries or hash browns. Huevos Rancheros $14.99 This famous breakfast dish from Mexico is a delicious mix of 2 eggs any style, served with avocado, black beans, cilantro, topped with salsa and shredded cheddar on a corn tortilla. Another friend later commented that traditionally, shashuka is vegetarian, the eggs are cooked in the tomato sauce, and there is no cheese in it. Victoria's may not have been traditional, but somehow the mix with the potato cubes found beneath the gooey saucy cheese with lovely bits of onion and unannounced yet welcome basil leaves was quite tasty, rich, and filling. The other dish was enjoyed by our resident vegetarian. Visually, it was a bit deconstructed a plating, with the tortillas arriving the form of two folded tortilla shells, which we found out could be swapped out for pita upon request. I made myself a breakfast tortilla with my shell. Of the two, I preferred the Shashuka, but if recollections serve me well, I think I may revisit Victoria's Breakfast Sandwich sooner, if it continues to remain on their special roster. *** 1/2020 *** Guess the hash browns were short lived. They weren't offered on this visit when a bunch of ordered omelettes for lunch. The breakfast potatoes were quite good, and they filled the New Market Veggie $10.99 (minus the jalapenos please) quite well with crisp firm vegetables, which made it feel like a sensible healthy option. A DC however wasn't crazy about the sweetened marinade used in their fried chicken. Even though the steak tips in my Victoria's Steak Sandwich on Ciabatta $11.99 came north of the requested medium rare, the meat was still quite pleasantly tender. I've been hankering lately to give their French Toast a try, and only recently realized that their Eggs & Cakes $8.99 come with either pancakes OR french toast ($5.99 a la carte for 2 pieces) with 2 eggs, breakfast potatoes or grits, and choice of toast. Hmmm... No more Monthly Specials for now it seems.

Victoria's Diner this is a great place It was opened in 1947 and it appears to be all original inside it's like stepping back in time. The waitresses are always pleasant and Swift with a refill on your coffee. The hashbrowns are to die for awesome eggs and omelettes and if you're in the mood for pastry they have a seven layer cake a couple different flavors I Saw chocolate and I also saw carrot which looks amazing but it's enough for 2 to 3 people just a slice. They do have takeout but with all Diners, much better if you dine in. The restaurant is clean and tidy for being well outdated but the ambience is fantastic. Parking is tight but there's a lot of parking across the street at the MBTA.

The food was good. Despite adding hot sauce, it was still quite bland. The staff brought it out in about 5-10 minutes of ordering. I also got a strawberry milkshake but it wasn't the best. You could see pieces of ice in the drink and it was disappointing. The place wasn't too crowded, probably because it was a Saturday afternoon, so I got seated right away.

Hash It Up" eggs on top of a generous portion of corned beef hash, with potatoes and wheat toast. Great portions. Potatoes were great

3.5 stars Their menu has changed. I was hoping to try one of the Victoria's stared menu items that are highlighted on their website. Wanted to try the Bostonian Omelette special. Oh well. Very nice server. Quick service. "Hash It Up" eggs on top of a generous portion of corned beef hash, with potatoes and wheat toast. Great portions. Potatoes were great. Not greasy nor deep fried like some diners do. Appreciated. And they had franks hot sauce on the side. Corned beef wasn't anything special--standard. They say homemade, but definitely not a family secret recipe or anything. Create Your Own Omelette with mushroom, onion and cheddar. Fluffy. Good. Raisin toast was a nice option to see on the menu. Breakfast potatoes again were better than most diners. The "No Meat" Basic. Poached eggs were nice. Their hash browns were seasoned very well. I wish I ordered those for my meal Nothing too special a solid 3.5-4 star breakfast. Just wish they didn't cut back on their menu. The two options I was looking at online didn't make it on in restaurant menu. Sad. Maybe I should've tried something else Next time

PATTY MELT REVIEW…read more Iconic diner on the edge of Chinatown, a couple blocks east of the Expressway. It's been around for decades and it's open 24/7. More of an authentic this-place-has-aged feel than the typical diner attempt to evoke an earlier era. Went in the morning and went for a patty melt-- because I could. It's too elusive these days, so being able to not only find one but have it at breakfast, a double win. Double patty is standard, not an add-on, and fries (probably frozen, but lengthy, crisp and fluffy) are included. No onions, no rye, but lettuce and tomato-- a non-traditional configuration. Nicely browned patties that had juiciness. The ingredients weren't anything to write home about, but the execution was great all around and so was the cheerful service from a seasoned veteran. Sure, I've had better with the proper rye, griddled onions, and higher quality beef, but an easy 4 stars for the execution, value, vibe, and being able to even order a patty melt before 10 in the morning. Bonus points for a plastic ketchup squeeze bottle that was slightly warm. Breakfast items (eggs, crispy home fries, and pancakes) on a neighboring table looked good.

However, it's close to Boston Common and the public garden so there's things to do to while you wait. The owner and staff are super nice and friendly. They're cognizant that people wait a long time to eat at their establishment and treat you with kindness when you're inside. It is very cramped and the tables are close together, but the rustic feeling makes it a great place to catch up with 1 or 2 friends. There's a wide variety of breakfast/brunch items, so there's something on the menu for everyone. The kitchen also is good about substitutions. Additionally, the portions are reasonable for the price, especially for the area. Most entrees come with a salad, which was a fun surprise. I got the Signature Scramble and liked the variety in the dish. The eggs did have caramelized onions, which I picked out, but there was a good amount of sauce and flavor on the plate. This place has been on my Boston brunch bucket list, so I'm glad that I've gone. I'd recommend this place to people who appreciate a good meal, but wouldn't take people who are impatient or claustrophobic.

Salty Pig Pizza: A pizza with the same name as the restaurant! Who was the genius who came up with the idea of salted pig and beer caramel? It's brilliant! The salted pork appears to include Prosciutto di Parma from Langirano, Prosciutto Cotto, and Salcissia. Baking rendered the prosciutto's fat, which blends with the caramel to create a beautiful golden syrup that flows across the pizza's surface. The prosciutto was savory, oily, and tender; the minced salcissia retains its coarse texture and rich meaty aroma; the caramel was sweet and mellow with a honey-like sweetness, forming the top, middle, and base notes respectively. The arugula was slightly warmed, losing its astringent and raw taste while maintaining its crisp texture, helped to cut through the richness together with the Parmesan cheese powder. The crust was crispy, while the inside the dough was soft and chewy. The cooking time and seasoning were all just right, and the restaurant's proud wooden oven added a charming smoky flavor. Affogato: I had high expectations, but it was just okay. The espresso was too sour, and the vanilla ice cream couldn't balance it out. The almond biscuits had an overpowering almond flavor, and the flavor of plant-based protein was terrible! (Oh, this should have been a plus...)
