Hidden in a wall kinda restaurant - in Newbury. The service is faster and the food tastes good. Quick grab and go kind place if you are in Newbury and wanna have something quick.
We stopped here on a Thursday afternoon. It was not very busy so we were seated right away. I ordered the bbq ranch chicken fries and my boyfriend ordered the double trouble burger and bacon cheese fries. Everything was very good. The fries had lots of sauce and toppings which I love. It was definitely a lot of food and I ended up taking a bunch home. This place is great when you're looking for something simple and filling.
A hefty burger for a pretty outrageous price. I got the Double Trouble (+ a second patty, $5 more) and a side of fries. The burger was definitely sizable, packed with beef, and had a great meat flavor overall (especially the charred bits near the edges). The burger came as-shown with no vegetables. You can request for lettuce on the side. For a price of $35, it was truly Newbury St prices...there are better options for sure
Food was on point, tasted very good. No complaints in that area what so ever. The wings I got, some were extremely small, felt like a rip off. The buffalo fries tasted good with the sauce but without the sauce the chicken was a bit unseasoned. Overall, good service and will return.
One of the most outstanding burgers I've had in a longgg time! This underground spot on Newbury serves up elevated diner food bringing both a sense of comfort and delight when enjoying their crazy good, unique creations! I tried the spicy chicken sandwich, loaded buffalo fries, cookie monster shake, and their cheeseburger, the last of which definitely stole the show! The burger patty was juicy and tender with a delicious salty flavor that melded together perfectly with the creamy cheese. All the toppings were tasty and harmonious while not overpowering the patty itself and the bun was like biting into a cloud, fluffy and supportive of the overall bite. I will admit, after being so impressed with their burger (which to be fair is their specialty), I wasn't the biggest fan of the fries which were tasty on their own but a little too rich with all the toppings, and the chicken sandwich was honestly dry and I wish it had more flavor. Additionally, their shake, while definitely tasty, didn't blow me away. So, generally, I'd say if you're going here for a burger, it's definitely worth the trip!! The portion sizes are generous even despite the pricier menu (and for Boston on Newbury St, it's very good!). Also, the cozy yet vibrant vibes add a nice touch of joy and a feeling casual celebration to the table. The service matches this energy with their kind and friendly yet efficient and professional demeanor. Overall the experience dining here is one to remember for both the tasty comfort food and the fun atmosphere. I'd recommend bringing friends or family and getting a couple dishes to share!
I highly recommend the milkshakes! The food is ok, but the milkshakes are where it's at. I ordered the I'm Crazy for Cookie Dough milkshake and it was one of the best milkshakes I've ever had. The flavor is pure perfection. We also ordered chicken tenders and wings to share. They were good but the milkshakes outshined them.
Found this place while just heading down Newbury street heading to Newbury comics. I'm so happy that I did. It was pouring out and I was soaking wet and hungry. Tried the sweet and spicy fries, and they were wicked awesome! I'm a real culinary expert so I paired my fries with an ice cold Angry Orchard and it hit the spot. I'm definitely putting this place on my "must come back soon or life is not with living list" Next time I'm going to try one of those amazing looking burgers!
I've been wanting to come here for a while now and let me tel u it did not disappoint the food was delicious. We had burgers, wings, fries, just a bit of evrything we wanted and everything was perfectly cooked and great flavors. Definitely a must if u are going to Boston and the staff was nice and got our order right. Place was Aweosme it has outside seating to enjoy the Boaton area. MUST IN BOSTON
I'd been wanting to try out CGK for the longest time and if I was purely rating their food, it would honestly be closer to 4-4.5 stars. However, I think the service that my friends and I experienced really negatively impacted our meal here. To start off on the positives, CGK is a fun, casual restaurant where they offer typical burgers, fries, wings/tenders, and shakes with unique twists! There was a decent amount of seating and I think it's a great spot to catch up with friends over some comfort food. Their menu is easily accessible with a barcode and the atmosphere was lively, but not overwhelmingly noisy! In terms of food, I ended up getting a regular burger, but I specifically requested a gluten-free bun and allergy flag to avoid cross-contamination since I have celiac. My friends ordered burgers as well (without any accommodations) and we decided to split a side of sweet and spicy fries (clearly listed as gluten-free on their menu). The portion of their fries is pretty impressive and easily shareable between 2-3 people. The sweet and spicy flavors were really well done - both the spicy mayo and honey sauces really shone through and you're also able to sample some of their chicken tender bites topped on top of the fries. In fact, I enjoyed the fries side even more than my burger - which was juicy and cooked to my preferred temperature, but didn't really stand out at all. My friends also ordered a side of wings to share, though I didn't try that and can't comment. I was really disappointed with our specific server because she acted incredibly dismissive about my serious food allergy, even though I had wanted to come here specifically because I'd heard great reviews about CGK accommodating food allergies! I probably spent almost 5 minutes just trying to get across the fact that I had a serious gluten allergy, which meant that I wanted to make a gluten-free bun modification to my order, and I also wanted to make sure my specific order was flagged with an "allergy." Our server seemed like she was *very* uncertain about how to address my requests and instead of asking someone else for help or even just letting us know that she has to double check the guidelines, she basically brushed off my concerns - at first saying that my order "would be prepared separately" without even putting in my gluten-free bun request, and then when we politely asked if she could repeat our orders just to quickly double check, she was still missing the note about gluten allergy. Needless to say, I felt very anxious the entire time there since she didn't give me a lot of confidence in her ability to handle my allergy. I understand that it can be incredibly busy during dinner hours but the fact that she was struggling with even basic requests for a serious allergy, and that she didn't even bother checking with someone else or asking for help if she really felt like she couldn't handle it, left a really bad impression on our entire table. Despite all the positive review, I'm honestly a bit hesitant to be back - at least because of my allergy. If you don't have any food allergies though, would definitely be a great spot to try out on Newbury!
Yum yum yum. I've been to two locations which the food is still yum just different environment. Newbury location feels like a Dungeon- very tight but they have a little patio if available Malden location is like a take out looking shack. Fries are Large portions good enough for 2people
Cute little spot in the Back Bay Area on a street full of restaurants. Good chicken. Quick service. Friendly staff. I would definitely visit again.
Ordered: Oklahoma Style Burger (~$14): charred onions with a beef patty smashed right over the top, and made double, American cheese, yellow mustard Sweet & Spicy Fries (~$14): spicy fries drizzled with hot honey topped with spicy chicken tenders tossed on hot honey and drizzle with better than ketchup sauce Diet Coke (~$3) Aya's take: We found ourselves at CGK since we wanted something fairly quick to eat that would also be satisfying and filling. Off the bat, I would highly recommend the Sweet & Spicy Fries. They were crispy, spicy, sweet, and just the perfect harmony of greasy goodness flavors. It could've used some pickles to cut through some of the fat and saltiness. The Oklahoma Style Burger was decent but the taste of onions and yellow mustard completely overpowered it. Most of the onions weren't charred (just sautéed) and along with the yellow mustard, it didn't mesh well together. The bun was super soft and fresh, and the beef patties were juicy and well-seasoned. Loved the Sweet & Spicy Fries but the Oklahoma Style Burger didn't hit the spot as I hoped it would.
We randomly decided to stop since the ambiance was so nice and they had a two person table out on the patio. We got a hot mess burger but since it comes with shave beef we opted for a single patty and got the truffle fries to lighten the load. Our server, Debra was so attentive and great, she recommended the mango milkshake and she wasn't wrong! Prices are high but you get a lot of food. We took the shake to go since we were stuffed! Really glad we stopped here, will definitely be back!
Came here on a Sunday for lunch with the kids while shopping on Newbury Street. I liked that they had at least a few healthy choices on the menu. I had the mediterannean salad with grilled chicken, quite good. My son had the chicken fingers, and liked it. Portions were good, prices were reasonable, and service was good. Walked in while on Newbury and decided to give this place a try and ordered the following: Double trouble burger (2 patties) a single patty next time probably be good for us haha this was a lot actually. Overall a good burger, wasn't overcooked and dry. Hefty and filling. Smoked applewood bacon- double American cheese. 3 piece chicken tenders with parm fries. Wish it did have more garlic parm sauce, the tenders them self don't have any flavor on the breading etc. the fries that came with, I'd probably request a bit crispier on our next visit. The other week, we were feeling burgers for dinner. I almost never (up until recently) go out for burgers. It's just not my thing BUT I had a weird craving for a cool burger. After looking around for spots that had burgers, we ended up at Crazy Good Kitchen! They're located on Newbury St and we were able to snag a parking spot right outside. It was not too busy the day we visited & we were seated immediately. They have a QR Code to scan at each corner of their tables to see their menu. Menu is pretty small, imo. Not too many options for burgers. We ended up getting the following to try: - Double trouble burger (2 patties) - 3 chicken tenders + fries (Parmesan dip + parm truffle fries) Thoughts: Chicken tenders themselves had no flavor. Used a lot of ketchup + parm dip sauce. Chicken was cooked well though. The tenders were juicy and not dry at all. We wished the fries were crispier. For the burger, we requested for two patties. Wish bacon was crispier; they gave a good amount of bacon but it was very oily and soft. Patties were cooked to our liking. Thought it was not bad & much better than the chicken tenders. We left Crazy Good Kitchen SUPER full. Our server was awesome! She was attentive and efficient. I don't think I would be back though. Wicked good burger. Juicy and great GF buns. The sauce and smashed onions directly into the burger were a nice touch on a classic burger. The GF tenders were delicious with the garlic parm being a garlic butter rather than a creamy sauce which was much preferred read more
I got the Double Trouble burger and we split the parm truffle fries. The food was really good, but definitely a burger you'll need to clean up after. Everything was well seasoned and had a ton of flavor. Menus were on your phone through a QR code, but the server came to the table to take your order. We were in an out in less than an hour. Food was ordered and at the table under fifteen minutes which was awesome. The place has a young feel. I was definitely tight quarters, but had a cool vibe. read more

CGK is a good option if you're on Newbury and searching for a casual lunch/dinner location. Always crowded, but their food is pretty solid. Their chicken sandwich is always a go to for me -- well fried and served with good toppings. They have both an indoor and outdoor dining option: indoor space is small and cozy, outdoor is right on the sidewalk/street. Service is also pretty quick -- overall a solid location. read more

Wow, the name really says it all, the food here is Crazy Good! After a busy day of walking around Boston (and doing some day drinking) we arrived back to our hotel in need of a serious meal. We happened upon Crazy Good Kitchen and were instantly hooked when we saw the menu. I ordered the Oklahoma style burger which has two patties, one of which is smashed on top of onions, along with mustard and American cheese. I also added the Better than Ketchup and burnt butter mayo to mine. I know you may doubt me, but this might have been one of the best burgers I have ever had, and I have had a lot of burgers in my lifetime. The patties were juicy and seasoned well, the toppings all complimented the burger and weren't too overpowering, and the cherry on top was the light and airy sesame bun. Just so freaking good. My girlfriend got the 'Merica Style and it was delicious as well. I honestly don't think any of the burgers will disappoint. We opted for the steak bomb fries and they were *the bomb*. Fried perfectly and topped with shaved steak, peppers, onions, and queso these had me in awe of how good they were. We ordered one order and it was big enough for the two of us to share. To finish the meal off I got a Nutella shake which was pretty dang good as well. Do yourselves a favor and stop by Crazy Good Kitchen if you have the chance and you will not be disappointed! read more

Service: Quick and simple, scan to view the menu, they got burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches, tenders, milkshakes, crazy milkshakes, cocktails, etc. So, standard burger joint fare. The chicken tenders were very well cooked and great breading/flavor! The fries were okay, i wish they were thinner and crispier, but not too bad still. The side bbq sauce, blue cheese, and buffalo were pretty standard, and good. Overall decent place for burger like food. read more

An amazing burger joint on Newbury Street. Came here on a Saturday evening and it was packed, but it had a very nice vibe. The hostess was extremely politely and we were able to be seated within 5 mins. The waitress was very friendly and made us felt welcomed. I ordered the double trouble burger, one of the ebst burgers I gave tried in Boston and we shared the wings, Philly cheese steak and sweet and spicy loaded fries. They were all so amazing but I especially loved the sweet and spicy loaded fries. read more

The food is great and comes out pretty fast. They are big so consider getting a single for any of their burgers. If you are gluten free, they are able to do a lettuce wrap. read more

We were staying in Boston for a short vacation. A security guard told us about this restaurant. We asked him. Where do you go? He said crazy. Good kitchen my favorite place. Well, he was right. What an awesome burger we had. I'm sorry I didn't get the waitresses name. But what a nice young lady she was. Plus it was a cool spot and very nice, lively atmosphere. read more

What seems to be a small establishment really opens up when you head downstairs! If you're bringing a group of people, I'd say 5 would be close to the max amount of people that could sit comfortably in one area (as was the case for our group). We came at around 5 pm on a Saturday (which I would recommend to avoid a huge wait!). Items ordered (as of 4/2024): - Double Trouble - $15.50 (single patty) - Bread was very tender. There was ample amounts of bacon and the butter + ketchup combination worked really well. While not the best burger I've ever had it's definitely up there! - Chicken bomb fries - $13 - This was pretty good but surprisingly heavy due to the cheese (of which there is ample amounts). The flavor is good and it's basically a cheesesteak (obviously with chicken instead) with fries under it. Definitely share this with 2 or 3 people since it is DENSE! - Sweet and spicy fries - $13.50 - This was a big winner for me. Not too sweet with a nice kick at the end! The chicken really adds to this when combined with the fries. Best of all it's not too heavy! I would get this again. Overall we really enjoyed our meal. Probably the biggest complaint when we were there was how hot and humid it was inside (it was around 60 degrees outside). Definitely will be back to try their other burgers/fries! read more

They're most definitely CRAZY GOOD!! I had one of the BEST BURGER EVER here recently!! Their popular burger is the Hot Mess and Cheese, which comes with two patties on it, as most of their burgers do. But since I pretty a slightly less messy burger, I opted for a single patty. The meat on the burger was insanely tender and tasty! The cheese and their specially made ketchup and mayo sauces really complemented the burger patty and cheese well... but that shaved beef they put on top really knocked this burger outta the park! Easily one of the best burgers I've ever had! Fries were great too! They'll do them in various styles, so I asked for spicy. This meant they sprinkled some cayenne looking pepper on top and they had a nice kick. Service was decent and the location is interesting, being in a basement of a brownstone. Can't wait to return! read more
