Walked in while on Newbury and decided to give this place a try and ordered the following: Double trouble burger (2 patties) a single patty next time probably be good for us haha this was a lot actually. Overall a good burger, wasn't overcooked and dry. Hefty and filling. Smoked applewood bacon- double American cheese. 3 piece chicken tenders with parm fries. Wish it did have more garlic parm sauce, the tenders them self don't have any flavor on the breading etc. the fries that came with, I'd probably request a bit crispier on our next visit. The other week, we were feeling burgers for dinner. I almost never (up until recently) go out for burgers. It's just not my thing BUT I had a weird craving for a cool burger. After looking around for spots that had burgers, we ended up at Crazy Good Kitchen! They're located on Newbury St and we were able to snag a parking spot right outside. It was not too busy the day we visited & we were seated immediately. They have a QR Code to scan at each corner of their tables to see their menu. Menu is pretty small, imo. Not too many options for burgers. We ended up getting the following to try: - Double trouble burger (2 patties) - 3 chicken tenders + fries (Parmesan dip + parm truffle fries) Thoughts: Chicken tenders themselves had no flavor. Used a lot of ketchup + parm dip sauce. Chicken was cooked well though. The tenders were juicy and not dry at all. We wished the fries were crispier. For the burger, we requested for two patties. Wish bacon was crispier; they gave a good amount of bacon but it was very oily and soft. Patties were cooked to our liking. Thought it was not bad & much better than the chicken tenders. This underground spot on Newbury serves up elevated diner food bringing both a sense of comfort and delight when enjoying their crazy good, unique creations! The burger patty was juicy and tender with a delicious salty flavor that melded together perfectly with the creamy cheese. All the toppings were tasty and harmonious while not overpowering the patty itself and the bun was like biting into a cloud, fluffy and supportive of the overall bite. I will admit, after being so impressed with their burger (which to be fair is their specialty), I wasn't the biggest fan of the fries which were tasty on their own but a little too rich with all the toppings, and the chicken sandwich was honestly dry and I wish it had more flavor. Additionally, their shake, while definitely tasty, didn't blow me away. So, generally, I'd say if you're going here for a burger, it's definitely worth the trip!! I'd been wanting to try out CGK for the longest time and if I was purely rating their food, it would honestly be closer to 4-4.5 stars. However, I think the service that my friends and I experienced really negatively impacted our meal here. To start off on the positives, CGK is a fun, casual restaurant where they offer typical burgers, fries, wings/tenders, and shakes with unique twists! There was a decent amount of seating and I think it's a great spot to catch up with friends over some comfort food. Their menu is easily accessible with a barcode and the atmosphere was lively, but not overwhelmingly noisy! In terms of food, I ended up getting a regular burger, but I specifically requested a gluten-free bun and allergy flag to avoid cross-contamination since I have celiac. My friends ordered burgers as well (without any accommodations) and we decided to split a side of sweet and spicy fries (clearly listed as gluten-free on their menu). The portion of their fries is pretty impressive and easily shareable between 2-3 people. The sweet and spicy flavors were really well done - both the spicy mayo and honey sauces really shone through and you're also able to sample some of their chicken tender bites topped on top of the fries. In fact, I enjoyed the fries side even more than my burger - which was juicy and cooked to my preferred temperature, but didn't really stand out at all. My friends also ordered a side of wings to share, though I didn't try that and can't comment. I was really disappointed with our specific server because she acted incredibly dismissive about my serious food allergy, even though I had wanted to come here specifically because I'd heard great reviews about CGK accommodating food allergies! I probably spent almost 5 minutes just trying to get across the fact that I had a serious gluten allergy, which meant that I wanted to make a gluten-free bun modification to my order, and I also wanted to make sure my specific order was flagged with an "allergy." Our server seemed like she was *very* uncertain about how to address my requests and instead of asking someone else for help or even just letting us know that she has to double check the guidelines, she basically brushed off my concerns - at first saying that my order "would be prepared separately" without even putting in my gluten-free bun request, and then when we politely asked if she could repeat our orders just to quickly double check, she was still missing the note about gluten allergy. Needless to say, I felt very anxious the entire time there since she didn't give me a lot of confidence in her ability to handle my allergy. I understand that it can be incredibly busy during dinner hours but the fact that she was struggling with even basic requests for a serious allergy, and that she didn't even bother checking with someone else or asking for help if she really felt like she couldn't handle it, left a really bad impression on our entire table. Despite all the positive review, I'm honestly a bit hesitant to be back - at least because of my allergy. If you don't have any food allergies though, would definitely be a great spot to try out on Newbury! read more

My girlfriend and I found ourselves crazy hungry in 90 degree weather in the middle of Boston amid a Fenway game and Newbury St tourism. Our usual spots were too busy, and we've been eyeing CGK for a few years now, so we decided our fateful day to try it was upon us. We walked on a busy Saturday afternoon, but were lucky to snag a table for two. TLDR - solid burgers, but very overpriced and slow service. While the burgers were pretty good, the service was pretty slow overall. We started off with two sodas, which took about 20 minutes to come out. The food, however, came out promptly after we placed our order. I got the "Brunch Monstah" burger-chicken sandwich hybrid and my girlfriend ordered their classic burger. My burger was one of the craziest (as by the name!) I have ever eaten - in a good way. It had a beef patty, a fried chicken patty, an over-medium egg, bacon, and cheese. It was great and I was definitely full for the day with all of that protein! My girlfriend's smash burger was very good as well, and was cooked well. We decided to also split an order of the buffalo chicken fries, which were good in flavor, but were way too overwhelming as they were completely drenched in buffalo sauce. Even for someone with an incredibly high spice tolerance and love for sauce, the ratio was definitely off. It was more soupy than anything, and the fries ended up being very soggy. I think it definitely would've been better if they were drizzled with the buffalo sauce. The chicken tenders, however, were tasty on top. After we finished the food, it took an additional 20 minutes to get the check. When we got the check, we were surprised that the total came out to be $75. My sandwich (alone, no side dish) was $20, and the fries which were all buffalo sauce were $14. Not wallet friendly and probably not worth it to go often. I would recommend going for the burgers once in a while, though. read more

I know you may doubt me, but this might have been one of the best burgers I have ever had, and I have had a lot of burgers in my lifetime. The patties were juicy and seasoned well, the toppings all complimented the burger and weren't too overpowering, and the cherry on top was the light and airy sesame bun. Just so freaking good. My girlfriend got the 'Merica Style and it was delicious as well. I honestly don't think any of the burgers will disappoint. We opted for the steak bomb fries and they were *the bomb*. Fried perfectly and topped with shaved steak, peppers, onions, and queso these had me in awe of how good they were. We ordered one order and it was big enough for the two of us to share. If you're bringing a group of people, I'd say 5 would be close to the max amount of people that could sit comfortably in one area (as was the case for our group). There was ample amounts of bacon and the butter + ketchup combination worked really well. While not the best burger I've ever had it's definitely up there! - Chicken bomb fries - $13 - This was pretty good but surprisingly heavy due to the cheese (of which there is ample amounts). The flavor is good and it's basically a cheesesteak (obviously with chicken instead) with fries under it. Definitely share this with 2 or 3 people since it is DENSE! - Sweet and spicy fries - $13.50 - This was a big winner for me. Not too sweet with a nice kick at the end! The chicken really adds to this when combined with the fries. Best of all it's not too heavy! I would get this again. Overall we really enjoyed our meal. I enjoyed my dinner at CGK. I ordered the 'Merica Style burger, and it was a good, hearty burger. My friend and I also ordered fries to share, and they tasted great too. There are a few aspects though that are not making me review this place higher. Firstly, the burgers were a bit too greasy - especially the double trouble burger, which my friend ordered - he said that it felt too fatty. Also, the menu doesn't have too much variety - all the burgers are basically the same, just with very slight differences, such as sauces. In addition, the it is a bit pricey. The restaurant has an okay vibe and some interesting decor choices. As for the service, our servers were friendly, but they did make us leave early due to there being a high demand for tables.
