Hidden in a wall kinda restaurant - in Newbury. The service is faster and the food tastes good. Quick grab and go kind place if you are in Newbury and wanna have something quick.
We stopped here on a Thursday afternoon. It was not very busy so we were seated right away. I ordered the bbq ranch chicken fries and my boyfriend ordered the double trouble burger and bacon cheese fries. Everything was very good. The fries had lots of sauce and toppings which I love. It was definitely a lot of food and I ended up taking a bunch home. This place is great when you're looking for something simple and filling.
A hefty burger for a pretty outrageous price. I got the Double Trouble (+ a second patty, $5 more) and a side of fries. The burger was definitely sizable, packed with beef, and had a great meat flavor overall (especially the charred bits near the edges). The burger came as-shown with no vegetables. You can request for lettuce on the side. For a price of $35, it was truly Newbury St prices...there are better options for sure
Food was on point, tasted very good. No complaints in that area what so ever. The wings I got, some were extremely small, felt like a rip off. The buffalo fries tasted good with the sauce but without the sauce the chicken was a bit unseasoned. Overall, good service and will return.
One of the most outstanding burgers I've had in a longgg time! This underground spot on Newbury serves up elevated diner food bringing both a sense of comfort and delight when enjoying their crazy good, unique creations! I tried the spicy chicken sandwich, loaded buffalo fries, cookie monster shake, and their cheeseburger, the last of which definitely stole the show! The burger patty was juicy and tender with a delicious salty flavor that melded together perfectly with the creamy cheese. All the toppings were tasty and harmonious while not overpowering the patty itself and the bun was like biting into a cloud, fluffy and supportive of the overall bite. I will admit, after being so impressed with their burger (which to be fair is their specialty), I wasn't the biggest fan of the fries which were tasty on their own but a little too rich with all the toppings, and the chicken sandwich was honestly dry and I wish it had more flavor. Additionally, their shake, while definitely tasty, didn't blow me away. So, generally, I'd say if you're going here for a burger, it's definitely worth the trip!! The portion sizes are generous even despite the pricier menu (and for Boston on Newbury St, it's very good!). Also, the cozy yet vibrant vibes add a nice touch of joy and a feeling casual celebration to the table. The service matches this energy with their kind and friendly yet efficient and professional demeanor. Overall the experience dining here is one to remember for both the tasty comfort food and the fun atmosphere. I'd recommend bringing friends or family and getting a couple dishes to share!
I highly recommend the milkshakes! The food is ok, but the milkshakes are where it's at. I ordered the I'm Crazy for Cookie Dough milkshake and it was one of the best milkshakes I've ever had. The flavor is pure perfection. We also ordered chicken tenders and wings to share. They were good but the milkshakes outshined them.
Found this place while just heading down Newbury street heading to Newbury comics. I'm so happy that I did. It was pouring out and I was soaking wet and hungry. Tried the sweet and spicy fries, and they were wicked awesome! I'm a real culinary expert so I paired my fries with an ice cold Angry Orchard and it hit the spot. I'm definitely putting this place on my "must come back soon or life is not with living list" Next time I'm going to try one of those amazing looking burgers!
I've been wanting to come here for a while now and let me tel u it did not disappoint the food was delicious. We had burgers, wings, fries, just a bit of evrything we wanted and everything was perfectly cooked and great flavors. Definitely a must if u are going to Boston and the staff was nice and got our order right. Place was Aweosme it has outside seating to enjoy the Boaton area. MUST IN BOSTON
I'd been wanting to try out CGK for the longest time and if I was purely rating their food, it would honestly be closer to 4-4.5 stars. However, I think the service that my friends and I experienced really negatively impacted our meal here. To start off on the positives, CGK is a fun, casual restaurant where they offer typical burgers, fries, wings/tenders, and shakes with unique twists! There was a decent amount of seating and I think it's a great spot to catch up with friends over some comfort food. Their menu is easily accessible with a barcode and the atmosphere was lively, but not overwhelmingly noisy! In terms of food, I ended up getting a regular burger, but I specifically requested a gluten-free bun and allergy flag to avoid cross-contamination since I have celiac. My friends ordered burgers as well (without any accommodations) and we decided to split a side of sweet and spicy fries (clearly listed as gluten-free on their menu). The portion of their fries is pretty impressive and easily shareable between 2-3 people. The sweet and spicy flavors were really well done - both the spicy mayo and honey sauces really shone through and you're also able to sample some of their chicken tender bites topped on top of the fries. In fact, I enjoyed the fries side even more than my burger - which was juicy and cooked to my preferred temperature, but didn't really stand out at all. My friends also ordered a side of wings to share, though I didn't try that and can't comment. I was really disappointed with our specific server because she acted incredibly dismissive about my serious food allergy, even though I had wanted to come here specifically because I'd heard great reviews about CGK accommodating food allergies! I probably spent almost 5 minutes just trying to get across the fact that I had a serious gluten allergy, which meant that I wanted to make a gluten-free bun modification to my order, and I also wanted to make sure my specific order was flagged with an "allergy." Our server seemed like she was *very* uncertain about how to address my requests and instead of asking someone else for help or even just letting us know that she has to double check the guidelines, she basically brushed off my concerns - at first saying that my order "would be prepared separately" without even putting in my gluten-free bun request, and then when we politely asked if she could repeat our orders just to quickly double check, she was still missing the note about gluten allergy. Needless to say, I felt very anxious the entire time there since she didn't give me a lot of confidence in her ability to handle my allergy. I understand that it can be incredibly busy during dinner hours but the fact that she was struggling with even basic requests for a serious allergy, and that she didn't even bother checking with someone else or asking for help if she really felt like she couldn't handle it, left a really bad impression on our entire table. Despite all the positive review, I'm honestly a bit hesitant to be back - at least because of my allergy. If you don't have any food allergies though, would definitely be a great spot to try out on Newbury!
Yum yum yum. I've been to two locations which the food is still yum just different environment. Newbury location feels like a Dungeon- very tight but they have a little patio if available Malden location is like a take out looking shack. Fries are Large portions good enough for 2people
Cute little spot in the Back Bay Area on a street full of restaurants. Good chicken. Quick service. Friendly staff. I would definitely visit again.
Ordered: Oklahoma Style Burger (~$14): charred onions with a beef patty smashed right over the top, and made double, American cheese, yellow mustard Sweet & Spicy Fries (~$14): spicy fries drizzled with hot honey topped with spicy chicken tenders tossed on hot honey and drizzle with better than ketchup sauce Diet Coke (~$3) Aya's take: We found ourselves at CGK since we wanted something fairly quick to eat that would also be satisfying and filling. Off the bat, I would highly recommend the Sweet & Spicy Fries. They were crispy, spicy, sweet, and just the perfect harmony of greasy goodness flavors. It could've used some pickles to cut through some of the fat and saltiness. The Oklahoma Style Burger was decent but the taste of onions and yellow mustard completely overpowered it. Most of the onions weren't charred (just sautéed) and along with the yellow mustard, it didn't mesh well together. The bun was super soft and fresh, and the beef patties were juicy and well-seasoned. Loved the Sweet & Spicy Fries but the Oklahoma Style Burger didn't hit the spot as I hoped it would.
We randomly decided to stop since the ambiance was so nice and they had a two person table out on the patio. We got a hot mess burger but since it comes with shave beef we opted for a single patty and got the truffle fries to lighten the load. Our server, Debra was so attentive and great, she recommended the mango milkshake and she wasn't wrong! Prices are high but you get a lot of food. We took the shake to go since we were stuffed! Really glad we stopped here, will definitely be back!

This is Crazy Good Kitchen on Newbury Street. Nothing beats the outdoor seating when the weather is nice (I went during the summer time). It is perfect to enjoy some great food while people watching. Last time I got the burger from their OG location in Malden, so this time I got the But Make It Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich! I said no pickles though because only bad people like pickles. I washed it all down with a delicious Nutella shake. I had no regrets until the next day at the gym trying to burn off all the calories consumed. My buddy enjoyed his Double Trouble burger (two 6oz beef patties, applewood-smoked bacon, American cheese, and house pickled onion) and a side of Buffalo Ranch Chicken Fries topped with chopped parsley. T'was a good day. read more

Stopped in to try a burger ad all reviews looks good. I ordered the double trouble burger with extra burger add on They don't offer onion rings ; so ordered the cheese fries. Fiddle head draft Service was quick Burger ok , button messy and much going on I wanted a 1/2 lb simple cheddar or cheese burger The side of cheese fries was 4 times what I could eat . These were very good . All in all a good burger ; but should off some simple ones... 1/2 or 3/4 lb simple cheeseburger vs 6 oz burgers with all the add on stuff. Fried sprouts might be fries alternative . read more
I enjoyed my dinner at CGK. I ordered the 'Merica Style burger, and it was a good, hearty burger. My friend and I also ordered fries to share, and they tasted great too. There are a few aspects though that are not making me review this place higher. Firstly, the burgers were a bit too greasy - especially the double trouble burger, which my friend ordered - he said that it felt too fatty. Also, the menu doesn't have too much variety - all the burgers are basically the same, just with very slight differences, such as sauces. In addition, the it is a bit pricey. The restaurant has an okay vibe and some interesting decor choices. As for the service, our servers were friendly, but they did make us leave early due to there being a high demand for tables. Overall, it was a good experience, and I can't deny that it was a tasty and juicy burger - but I don't know if I would return again, and if this place deserves the hype that it gets. read more
What a great find! Completely obsessed with this part of Boston in general. But this cute little place was located below some stores as you stroll this beautiful city and shopping dining area. We could not get enough. The name is spot on. Their burgers are crazy good. Their fries were delicious and the chicken was also good. But i think i may be thinking about that burger for the rest of my life. Lol read more
An awesome spot on Newbury with some of the best sandwiches and burgers in Boston. My friend and I were seated quickly and loved the setup. I had a spectacular fried chicken sandwich and it didn't break the bank! You can tell the ingredients are high quality. The chicken: fantastic. The ranch: great flavor addition. Pickles: homemade? Surely. My friend got the double trouble and said it was best burger he had in Boston... that's some high praise. Bacon cheese fries were good but definitely heavy (shocker). Highly recommend to anyone in the area! read more

A SOLID burger!! I don't get to come here as often as I'd like, but I always love what I get here! This location is very convenient and walkable since it is right on Newbury St. When you walk in, there is a decent amount of seating especially since it's in the basement. Service was fine and the food came out within a reasonable time. As for the food, our group got a different array of burgers and fries. The burger itself is very juicy and flavorful. I always struggle to find a place that uses good quality patty meat, and this place does great with taste and texture! The truffle fries are also really great! They give a lot in quantity and flavor them well. I ordered: - Double Trouble Burger - Truffle Fries read more
Always good food here. First experience was a yelp elite week. Since then I've obviously come back. Great chicken , chicken sandwiches , burgers, salad , fries. Literally everything is good. Now that I've moved I'll miss this place. Can't wait to revisit. I have told all my Boston friends about this place and made sure to make them fans too. read more

Amazing food! Burgers, fries and shakes, always a fun time. Excellent food and truly great burgers for true burger enthusiasts. They do not rely on crazy toppings to make it taste good. Their toppings enhances it! If you like loaded fries, you must try the buffalo chicken fries. read more
Burger - 9/10 Spicy chicken sandwich - 8/10 (chicken had the right amount of spice to it, but was a bit messy with the slaw and sauce) Bacon cheese fries - 6/10 (fries weren't crispy and there was an overload of cheese that unfortunately lacked flavor) While we got seated right away and the food came out fairly quickly, our server was nowhere to be found even though we were her only table. It took her a long time to take our ordered then I ended up having to get her from behind the bar to close our our tab. Burger is definitely worth ordering - thin, juicy and great bun. I would skip the fries next time though and save the calories for a second burger instead! read more

Walking the streets of Boston with my family and got some tasty burgers here. The cheese fries are fresh and delicious. Burgers are STACKED, messy and delicious. The perfect juicy burger excists here. I got the parm cheese chicken tenders and they're perfectly done with tender meat and light batter. The service was alright so knocked off a star. They weren't rude, just not attentive. read more

Wicked wicked wicked smart - review, Boston edition Crazy Good Kitchen What a find, ground level, nestled on Newberry street, don't blink or you will miss it- then on the other hand just follow your nose. Great food follows great smells. Word of caution, the servings are bigger than they appear on the menu. They are known for their double stacked burger, not to be overwhelmed I went for the Oklahoma burger- and then I couldn't finish it. Probably because we also had wings, cheese fries (eat these while hot) and milk shake The service was on point, prompt courteous and helpful. The shakes came first -- what a presentation ( a meal in themselves) and in no time ... Burgers Up ... The cheese fries were perfectly balanced with fries and cheese, best enjoyed while hot. The chicken fingers should be called chicken "hands" bigger than most chicken fingers should meals, and delicious. The Oklahoma burger was better than described on the menu- Delicious complement of bun, meat, cheese, and grilled onions. The price was reasonable Highly recommend Bon Appetit read more

Small spot on newbury street. Does get really packed on the weekends so definitely recommend booking a reservation if possible! The burgers are phenomenal and so are the drinks! Love the Mercian style burger and all their fries options are delish! Definitely would go back again! read more
I was in town with my friends for the Boston Marathon. My friend and I stopped in here for lunch on Sunday before the marathon. Since it was just the two of us, we just got seats at the bar. It was my first time and I went with the Hot Mess and Cheese burger. My friend had forgotten to warn me ahead of time to get the cheese sauce on the side. It was a dang good burger, but boy was it wet! I guess it was very much appropriately named! I did love the shaved steak to go with the nice quality patty. That was unique. The only downside with that particular burger was that it was just way too saucy for my liking! Service was nice and friendly. Definitely, wouldn't mind coming back. I'll probably get a "drier" burger on a future visit. read more
I loved my milkshake from here! I sat at a table outside which would have been nice but the bugs came out as soon as it got dark. Nonetheless I really loved my crazy milkshake- the little red. It was decorated a bit differently than the picture online, but I kinda liked that. I felt I got a more unique experience that way. We also got cheesy fries which were a fun complement to the milkshakes! read more
I saw this restaurant on social media, and my family added it to our Boston itinerary after we were done shopping at Newbury Street. The restaurant was partially underground, and the interior felt like a modern pub. The host was nice and promptly showed us to our table. I ordered the Oklahoma Style burger ($13) and the Sweet and Spicy Fries ($13). I thought the burger would be a smash burger, but it was just a regular patty with onions barely smashed in and missing the meat lace that I was expecting. The patty did not taste seasoned, and the burger fell apart after a few bites. The chicken was cold on the fries, but the sauce was good. I would skip this place if you're looking for burgers. read more

Very crowded, loud, and lively environment. There are still decent amount of space between the tables. Didn't have to wait too long for the server to get to us and food came out pretty fast. Hot mess and cheese burger: 5/5 great burger. The patties were more smash burger style. Love the gooey cheese. Very messy like its name and a double stack will fill you up. Delicious! Overall: 5/5 great food and everyone had a great time! Large portions. read more

Friendly hostess greeted us as soon as we popped in on a rainy afternoon for lunch. We were seated right away. Menu is pretty simple with burgers, chicken sandwiches/tenders, and fries. Food came out quick and hot. I had the 3 tender meal. It was decent, nothing amazing, but it was filling and hit the spot after a long morning without breakfast. read more

A very solid, delicious burger in the heart of Back Bay! I've passed by this restaurant several times before and finally got to try it out this evening. I was impressed with the flavors and freshness of the 'Merica burger but was a little put down by the priciness and quality of the parmesan truffle fries (which I wouldn't order again). Still, the servers here were very friendly and our food came out quickly. Because we were seated near the bar, it was very loud and crowded near us, but I'm sure this isn't a problem in most other seating areas. Still an enjoyable experience, and I'd probably return! read more
Came here on a weeknight and it wasn't too busy. The inside is nice and they have some cool LED lights throughout. The lavender haze cocktail was good. However, the amount of glitter in it wasn't my favorite. The mango habanero cocktail was super yummy. I loved the buffalo chicken loaded fries. The chicken sandwich called "but make it spicy" is the best chicken sandwich I have had in Boston. read more

Stopped in for lunch while shopping Newbury St I had the 'Merica Burger which was delicious, with great flavor, and the "Better than Ketchup" sauce complemented it perfectly. I also tried the Buffalo Chicken Fries, which were absolutely amazing. The service was excellent, I was seated quickly upon arrival and attended to right away. The food came out fast, making for a great overall experience. Highly recommend if you're in the area! read more
This place is awesome!! The portions are amazing and the staff is super friendly. Definitely recommend as a lunch stop, or whenever you're in the mood for some great chicken & fries!! I took my 13 year old and 2 year old here for lunch while we ventured out to Boston for a few hours. I had seen ads for it for a while and had wanted to try it out. Now was the perfect opportunity. I ordered the Bacon Bird (make it SPICY) - and man oh man, was it good! The sandwich was BIG, and it came out fresh with amazing fries. Everything was hot, fresh & delicious!! Also - many places claim they bring the heat when they mention "spice" but don't deliver... but this sandwich had a great kick!! Just enough to linger but not enough to take away from enjoying the meal. The prices were also not bad at all, it didn't break the bank to bring 3 here for lunch. The place is fairly small but they make the space work for what it is. We didn't have to wait and got seated right away. It's a little loud in there but I certainly wouldn't call it "too loud". I will absolutely be coming back here next time I'm in the area. It will be hard for me to not order the same exact thing!! read more

I ordered take out at the host stand on a Thursday around 8. It was pretty busy inside, but there was some bar seating still available. It took about 15 minutes for my food. I got the spicy tenders plate with parmesan truffle fries, chipotle mayo dipping sauce and a vanilla shake. Everything was so good!! The chicken was perfectly fried and still juicy. I shared some with my mom, who is an extremely picky eater, and she enjoyed everything! That is rare, but that's also how you know CGK serves great food. She already cannot wait to order again, and I can't blame her! read more

The food was crazy good. However, the reaction was crazier ! Waiter was nice. I was on the toliet for four hours!!. Although, the waiter was the nicest guy. My stomach was hurting all day after my visit. But, this has nothing to do with the waiter. He was great! Ambiance was fine. read more

CGK On Newbury = 3.7/5 stars! Make it spicy chicken sandwich: 3.5/5 - crispy with a good kick, but the spices weren't evenly coated making some parts plain and some parts too spiced. Chicken was battered well, the bread was fine, and pickles were a great touch! Coleslaw was too much Mayo for me and not enough veg Green monstahh: 3.9/5 - I think that's the name of the smoothie but it was ultimately a mint Oreo smoothie which was delicious for sweet tooth's like me but I would share! It's too much sugar for me to consume by myself! Parmesan fries (not pictured): 3.7/5 - there was a good amount of parmesan and herbs, and the fries were slightly crispy and soft. I personally prefer thinner fries but the shape was more of a fry-wedge hybrid I do appreciate their service in accommodating my group of about 10 people quickly when we got there! read more
