This place was ok. Food was decent but service is dreadfully slow. Had an early dinner before long drive home and restaurant was dead so there was no reason for the slowest table service I've ever received in my life. Go elsewhere if you can.

Ribeye is good! $38

Had a pretty good meal at MatchBox, which serves up a lot of traditional American flare. Looks to be part of a large restaurant group for the area. Ordered the ribeye that came with carrots, asparagus and mashed potatoes $38. The steak was great. The service was a bit slow in a half empty restaurant, but that wouldn't keep me from stopping in again,

Had a good dinner here. I very much enjoyed the matchbox mule which was blackberry flavored. I also enjoyed the apple and pear salad which was light and refreshing! I wouldn't recommend the donuts however. While the raspberry sauce they came with was very good, the donuts themselves were off and felt like I could taste the oil they were fried in. Comfortable atmosphere and friendly service!

Very cool restaurant with live music - atmosphere was upbeat and lively for 2:30pm on a Saturday! We found 2 seats at the bar and got a quick lunch. They were very accommodating for the pizzas, allowing us to do half bbq jerk chicken and half honey honey/ pepperoni. The bbq chicken half was definitely our favorite. Salad was solid. Overall, this place can't lead you wrong!

This is a great family friendly option in Penn Quarter. We were looking for someplace that everyone in the family could find something to eat and this fit the bill. My son is obsessed with pepperoni pizza and their kids pizza is 10 inches which is a great size. My child ate the whole thing! He loved it my husband and I split a 14 inch pizza, which was plenty for the two of us. The pizza was served very quickly, which was great. My husband also ordered the crab soup which he thought was outstanding. They also have other people pleaser foods like burgers and fries. Our service was fast and friendly and prices were very reasonable.

Brunch Menu

While in DC, we decided to come here for brunch to take advantage of their AYCE brunch. We had reservations somewhere else but when we saw this location was close and remembered how much fun we had at the Silver Spring location, it was a no-brainer to definitely go here for brunch instead. It was pretty empty when we arrived and were seated almost immediately. The seats were dirty with crumbs and food so I waited for our server/hostess to come back so I could inform them but she took a minute so I found an employee who graciously came and cleaned the seat off. I sat down and almost started dancing in my seat from the anticipation and remembering how good the food was at the Silver Spring location. I also wanted to order one of everything LOL When our server finally came back we quickly learned that if you're doing unlimited both parties have to order it at the bar table and since my friend only wanted something small to eat, that wasn't going to work for us. Now, I was faced with the decision of trying to decide on one item only! Do you know how hard it is for me to decide before going to a restaurant, as I'm looking at their menu, on what I would like to eat? I just asked our server to put in my friend's order and come back for mine. As we sat there, we wondered if we should have sat at the bar instead so I could have ordered my unlimited and they could have only ordered what they wanted. It was interesting because we asked the server this and they replied the same rule would apply for the bar, which didn't make sense because if I'm sitting at the bar I'm responsible for my own bill. But ok . . . . I decided to go with the shrimp and grits and asked for the sauce on the side after I confirmed the sausage didn't contain pork. The grits came out fresh and seasoned with unoverbaring cheese. The shrimp are an afterthought though since they didn't have any seasoning at all. They are highly depending upon that cajun sauce to season the shrimp when it should be simmered in it or at least he's in with those same spices that the sauce contains. My stomach started turning on first bite which made me happy I didn't go with the unlimited because I don't know if I would have been able to eat more. It was a good playlist on and that was about it. Definitely only going to the Silver Spring location hence forward.

Black Bean Veggie Burger

Great veggie black bean burger, good thinner crust pizzas. If you're not at/in the bar service seems to always lack. Never have had a good experience in the regular seating. Good food, but very overpriced even for the area. Lots of surrounding restaurants with significantly better prices and service.

Strawberry and Goat Cheese Salad

Food tastes good. Portion size was good for the burger and fries but the salad wasn't that substantial and a little small for an "entree" priced dish. Service started a little rough. Waiters were arguing amongst each other while a few tables waited to be seated. It took a while to get going but eventually they resolved their situation and service improved. The place is pretty large but not good for large groups. We were seated at table in the center of the restaurant and directly in front of the entrance. We made the best of it but probably should have just split ourselves into 2 booths.

Found this place while looking for a happy hour after a day of museums. The happy hour is pretty decent. $10 drinks and some food items as well. The pizza was okay, I feel like it could have had more flavor and we chose the pizza because the other pizzas looked delicious around us. We also shared a smash burger that was not pictured. It was just a bit confusing. They brought food out to our table and it was 2 smash burgers and they brought an extra plate on the side. I guess they had given us the wrong food because we asked for a smash burger to be cut in half. Instead of leaving one of the burger orders on our table, they took all the food off our table. A few minutes later, the burger cut in half was given to us on separate plates.. with no fries. I was confused because our burger came on separate plates, so I assumed the fries on the separate plate was supposed to go with our burger. Because everyone else around us was getting fries with their burger order on their plates. We asked if the burger was supposed to come with fries.. and they said no because it was happy hour. But everyone else was getting it with fries.. they ended up giving us a plate of fries for the burger. Our waiter was so kind and so nice and gave us suggestions. It was such weird and seemed like miscommunication with the staff.

Delicious!! The hot honey pizza was to die for! And the dessert was HUGE and delicious!! I would definitely recommend stopping by after a long day of walking and activities. The pizzas were pretty big and you'll definitely fill up if you compliment with an appy or dessert. We came here after visiting the national gallery of art and the walk was bearable. The staff was fantastic! The only thing I will say is their soft drinks are a BIT overpriced... i think i paid $5 for a coke :c but the bill for everything was no more than $55

Ummm....YES. Yes you should come here. This place is great. Love the atmosphere. Service was spot on. Super friendly and attentive. The burger cooked to perfection (medium). Soooo good If I lived in DC this would be a spot I would regular. Can't recommend enough

Cilantro Lime Chicken Salad
Angel P.

We came on a weekend so we were offered both the brunch and lunch menu. We ordered the cilantro lime chicken salad and fried chicken breakfast sandwich. The salad was decent, and the breakfast sandwich was very oily/greasy. The plate came with a splash of oil, and when eating, a decent amount of oil dripped out. Our server was very attentive and kind. The main entrance has a few steps, but there is an accessible side door. The bathroom is down a flight a stairs, and there is one private bathroom on the main level.

Do they require reservations?

I'm not sure, sorry...

Do they still offer a free ten inch kids pizza on Tuesdays?

I'm sorry, I don't know.

What's up with you food prices? I live in the neighborhood...it's really over priced.

Our waiter was friendly and gave great recommendations. I ordered the Ted's Bulletin burger with the egg fried hard, and let me just say this was my first time having an egg on a burger, and I'm sold! I'd get it again any day. I also swapped my regular fries for truffle fries, which were a great choice. My boyfriend ordered the fried chicken with biscuits and got the sausage gravy on the side. The chicken was fried perfectly with a nice crunch, the biscuits were soft, and the sausage gravy was so good you could honestly eat it by itself. My daughter got the mac and cheese with a side of fruit and cleaned her plate.. no crumbs left! I'd definitely come back, especially to try their breakfast/brunch since they serve it all day. Overall, I'd recommend Ted's for a solid breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

I ordered the BBQ lamb shoulder pita which is also apparently rated one of the seven best sandwiches in North America. I can understand it. It was actually really good. A lot of good flavors. I felt like it was going to be not filling in the beginning, but was actually quite filling and had good meat depth in the pita. They pitas are made in house, so small imperfections make it more original. It is a little bit saucy so definitely grab some napkins, but it's a ton of flavor and definitely makes sense why it's one of their signatures. Tried the pita, the labneh, the Zaatar Croissant and the Roselle/Malabar tea. The tea was my favorite. Very refreshing, with a hint of spiciness. The pita was huge; each weighed about ~6oz so one piece is generally enough for one meal. It was freshly baked and very fluffy and relatively thicker than the pitas in most restaurants. The labneh was just normal. The Zaatar Croissant was stuffed with lots of labneh and coated in Zaatar. The Zaatar smelled amazingly but did not have much taste. The labneh went well with the croissant. In short, it is an interesting cafe but not a must-visit place if you are traveling in DC -- even if you are a fan of Middle Eastern food like me:)

My nephew and I walked in and were immediately greeted and seated. It wasn't long before our server came and took our drink order. After he came back with our drinks, he took our appetizer order. We ordered fried green tomatoes and they were absolutely delicious. Because it was late afternoon, and my niece was cooking dinner, we decided to try a couple different things and share. We decided on the Honey Butter Pancakes, and the Shrimp and Grits. When I say everything was delightful, I mean everything was flavorful. The appetizer and grits entrée both had a little heat or a kick behind them, but it was just enough to enhance the flavor. The pancakes were small and differently shaped and presented, but they were so good. I would've given them a five, but our server walked past us several times and forgot to refill our water glasses. I believe it was his manager who noticed that our glasses were empty and proceeded to fill them. And because of the time we came in, it couldn't be blamed on too many customers. The shrimp and grits was a solid portion. They didn't skimp on the jumbo shrimp or the sausage and this is definitely a dish you can share. I thought it was a little too salty for my taste but again, the meat in this dish was seasoned well. They used challah bread for their french toast which made it nice and dough-y. I thought this was the best dish that we ordered and again, can definitely be shared between two people. It's sweet on it's own, so if you don't have that extra sweet tooth, you won't need to add the syrup.
