Beautiful space, open and inviting with inside and outside seating. Also one of the quietest and most comfortable restaurants to sit and talk (ie do business). Reservations encouraged. I showed up on Saturday night without reservations which made the host uncomfortable. Was invited to go to and went to bar area to eat. Ordered a bottle of wine and appetizers. And ordered dinner as was told that full menu available at the bar. Was asked if we were going to be long as dinner was served. Waiters came to take plates away when we had just started to eat, and asked more than once if we were done while still eating. Food was good. Tuna appetizer was light and well done served on tortillas. Pasta dishes were substantial. Place was nice, but service made the experience uncomfortable. That being said, the capellini pomedoro was dry and the tomatoes looked like they came straight out of a can with no flavor. The cheese they put on top was bland too. I had dinner from here a couple of Thursday's ago. My wife and I were visiting her brother in law for the evening whenever they decided to order delivery from Mancuso's. Post mates wasn't originally working here but they eventually got an order through and it ended up on the porch. Due to that, I can't really say anything about the restaurant itself and can only comment on the food. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with the farfalle and chicken which the menu described as coming with prosciutto, mushrooms, onion and garlic in a creamy pesto sauce. Whenever I uncovered the dish it looked good with a nice piece of breaded and fried chicken on top of the farfalle all covered in the green pesto sauce. The chicken ended up being cooked nicely and had a nice and crunchy exterior which held up even when dipped into the pesto sauce. As for the rest, I have never had prosciutto and pesto before but it ended up working for me. The prosciutto had a nice saltiness to it which cut through the creamy pesto flavor while the mushroom added a nice texture and flavor to the dish. With all of the meals we had ordered, they included a ton of garlic bread. Since I didn't place the order myself I don't know if it was complimentary or if we paid for it but I can confirm that it was good. The bottom line for me is that I would order from here again. Had Christmas Eve dinner at Mancuso's. The staff was friendly, engaging and always checking if we needed anything. The food was amazing. We had Shrimp Fra Diavlo and Linguini and Clams. A friend invited us here for his wife's birthday and what a great experience! We went on a Saturday night and there happen to be a Suns game, a Diamond backs game and an event a the convention center so traffic was absolute chaos (something to take into consideration for next time). Our reservation was a 7pm and we were aware of the 15min grace period. It was 7:08am and traffic wasn't moving and the birthday girl was further than us. I called and I'm sure they could sense the panic in my voice but the hostess assured me that our table for 5 was ready and they were not giving it away. It was a bit of a hassle to find the place, but that could've been because I was already panicking. So I called again and the hostess said go to third Street and Washington, and walk south you'll see a set of stairs and you will see the sign once you start to walk up the stairs.... perfect instructions/directions. Once I walked into this beautiful restaurant there was about 4 smiling faces which was so refreshing. I had a huge cake and they immediately took it off my hands to the fridge and took me to our table to wait for the others. A nice gentleman comes to fill the water, and then my husband arrives and he gets us a drink. Great service! Then our server comes in and introduces herself by the name of Carrie and what a joy she was as well. She had great recommendations and was so patient as we never been there and we're still kind of riled up from being late. As we are having a drink and waiting for our appetizers, a nice lady comes over saying they had a bottle of champagne that they had a glass or two from and if we would like the rest to celebrate I thought that was very nice (happy 30th anniversary to them). The food came out and wow, amazing! This is the real deal, real authentic Italian food. I felt really basic by getting the fettuccine Alfredo but what a great choice! Although the Riesling was one I always drink, it tasted so much better here. They didn't quite get my husbands old fashion right but he ordered a second one so I guess it wasn't too bad. Service, food, restaurant, vibe! A+! Bathrooms were also clean, cute and smelled good. Went to Mancuso's while downtown at the Phoenix Convention Center for a conference. We were seated quickly which was nice. Our server was very nice and friendly. After we placed our order she came back and told us they were out of fries which was weird for a restaurant and kind of a bummer to be honest. Burger and fries? Nope, burger and salad. For my food I ordered the chopped chicken salad. The whole time I was eating it I thought the chicken was very weird. It was weird because it was crab meat. I was wondering where my corn & bacon were. Never said anything, but when I looked at the menu later it was clear they brought me the lump crab salad. They're very lucky I don't have a shellfish allergy. Thought it was very strange to get the 2 salads mixed up. My friends enjoyed their burgers w/ no fries, but I was not super happy with my meal sadly. read more

First time at Mancuso's. We arrived at 7:30 on a Friday night and it was about 1/2 full, partially due to social distancing. We were seated and greeted right away, offered menus and water. My wife ended up ordering the Lobster la Diavolo along with a glass of wine. I got the Shrimp Cocktail and the Shrimp and Scallop Scampi and a Limoncello Long Island Iced Tea. All told it came to $132.50 plus tip. The drinks were good: nicely sized and quick. The shrimp cocktail was a bit disappointing. Four plain shrimp and some cocktail sauce for $15. Wouldn't order it again. The Diavolo was very good. It came with clams, mussels, calamari and shrimp in a spicy marinara sauce. The scampi was disappointing in two ways: there wasn't much sauce on the linguine and half of the three shrimp were overcooked. How do you overcook half the shrimp? Cuz they weren't the freshest. I was going to post three stars but I was delighted to see Agnes Mancuso at the restaurant, running the front. Always encouraging to see the ownership getting involved. read more

Walking in to Mancuso's we had high expectations. Apparently the door stuck when we walked in. We were up at the hostess station and she asked my husband if he could shut the door. Now I'm ok with shutting the door but never in my life have I gone into an upscale place that asks you to shut the door. As a matter of fact, at most upscale places they open the door for you. I ordered a glass of wine. It was pretty dark in there but after a couple sips I noticed that my glass looked odd, it was filthy. I showed the waitress and she replaced it. We started with oysters which were pretty good. I really liked the cocktail sauce that came with them, it didn't have too strong of a horseradish taste. When we first got there I told the waitress that my youngest and I are gluten free. They have GF options on their menu and they have GF pasta. My daughter ordered GF pasta. When they brought it out there was a meatball on it. I asked the waitress if they put breadcrumbs in their meatballs. As it turns out they do which means they are NOT GF. That's a pretty big mistake, putting a gluten meatball on GF pasta. Hmmm. I asked the waitress if they have GF bread. She said she would check. We never heard another thing about it. Now don't get me wrong, the waitress was very nice. She even brought the kids extra cherries for their Shirley Temples. I had the filet Mignon with gorgonzola cheese, mashed potatoes, and subbed risotto for the veggies. The taste was pretty good. The bill for one app, two entrees, three kids meals, and one glass of wine was $140 before the tip. Not terrible. At restaurants like this it's the small details that mean the most but unfortunately they fell short when it came to the details. read more

We ordered scotch and soda water and bottle of champagne with escargot. She did. Not have the scotch on menu, so this was revised. What was received was a glass of scotch and a glass of soda with no ice. Asked sever for ice and when she arrived! Then she came back with ice and said they did not have the champagne we ordered. So we changed that. She returned with the bottle and ice bucket. When she popped the cork the bottle was aimed at my friend and the cork flew into her 2 glasses and they spilled. On lookers watched. When she poured champagne it was hardly cold! After many bad starts a lady appeared not introducing herself. So we asked her name - Fran - she said. No title given. When appetizers appeared an my friend was wet with liquor. A server dropped and broke plates and another sever did the same. Fran asked an attendant to take the bottle to the freezer. After this I chose to not order a meal and my friend ordered veal and said it was average. I thought the attitude was 0 star service especially from Fran. Well, I'm typing this as we are leaving the restaurant. The 1 star isn't because of the service of ambiance. The 1 star is 100% because of the food. Went there tonight with a group of 6 people. From the salads that were very skimpy for the price to the entrees that were covered in too much sauce and way too salty we were disappointed. The Pork Chop, w/ gorgonzola mash (over powering) and veg (poorly prepared and brussels sprouts not cooked enough) were awful. Also another person said that their chicken picatta was too lemony and the sauce too thick. Another said their Rigatoni Bolognese was dry and boring. All in all everything was just average at best. My coworker and I made reservations for Mancuso's for restaurant week. We peeped the menu and it looked delightful. Upon arriving we were greeted at the door and immediately showed to our table. We asked for a booth and advised we had an extra person joining that was not on the reservation and they were very accommodating. We started off with the Caesar salad that had prices of anchovies in it and it was so delicious. I think it made the salad more flavorful and authentic. For my main course I picked the scallop and shrimp scamp! I did not regret it. Usually when you go to restaurants that serve scallops and shrimp they don't give you a lot. Mancuso's showed out. The scallops were huge and perfectly cooked. The shrimp were buttery garlic and the pasta had the perfect texture. The dessert that came with the restaurant week menu was tiramisu and cannoli. You would think that because it came with two t would be small bites. Nope! They were enough to share. All in all, even if it was not restaurant week, I would go back. If you want a good meal with good service, I would recommend this spot! read more

I arrived into town on a Tuesday night for a work event. We were fortunate enough to have the private dining room for a total of 16 people. When we first arrived, we were given a prefix menu and there were not enough seats for our group. After a short conversation with the staff, the extra seats were squeezed in and we opted for the full menu as intended. The staff was very good at making sure our drinks were full and keeping track of everyone's orders. For appetizers, we got the stuffed mushrooms (9/10) , bruschetta (8/10) , shrimp cocktail (6/10) and calamari (8/10). I ordered the sea bass, which was served with linguini, a rose cream sauce and sautéed squash. I would highly recommended this dish (8/10)- it was flavorful and the fish was good quality. I'm a big fan of the rose cream sauce and this did not disappoint. My guest reviewer ordered the Lobster Fra Diavolo. He said it had a diverse palate of flavors, fresh seafood and wasn't too spicy. There are other dishes pictured from our meal as well for visuals. We all received dessert samplers at the end- my favorite was the peanut butter crusted cannoli (although my guest reviewer would beg to differ). Although I was too full, I heard great things about the cheesecake and the tiramisu. Overall, I think the food in this restaurant was great, but there were some miscommunications with the logistics of this large group. If my wife had rated this Restaurant two months ago it would have gotten 10 stars on the 5 star rating scale! Today, it gets a ZERO but I have to give it a minimum of one based on the Google rating criterion. Based on the absolutely incredible meal that my wife and four of her friends had at this restaurant two months ago back in March we absolutely needed to take our favorite out of town guests to this restaurant for what we believed was going to be an absolutely mouthwatering taste bud extravaganza that would be permanently etched in our memories as was my wife's' and her friends first meal here was...WRONG! Ours was THE Absolute WORST Restaurant meal ANY of us had ever eaten! First off the bread had an "off taste" to it that we couldn't pin-point...we raised this issue to our wonderful waitress and she concurred that recently something "just wasn't the same" as before. We let that go and now onto our Chicken Piccata and Shrimp & Sea Scallop Scampi....The Chicken was the absolute lowest budget/quality chicken that we had ever eaten, dry, no texture or flavor and completely lacked any lemon flavoring whatsoever. The Seafood was over breaded and also lacked taste, texture and flavor. None of us finished the meal and promptly reported our dissatisfaction to our waitress who told us to elevate our complaints to "Fran" who was the senior leader in charge at the front desk. Upon leaving, Fran asked me how our dinner was and I quickly told her that it was likely one of the worst Restaurant meals that any of us had eaten. Since I had forgotten the "EXACT" name of the menu item that the women had ordered I simply referred to their meal as some type of seafood platter with shrimp and scallops, Fran quickly interrupted me and was QUICK to point out that they didn't offer a "Seafood Platter" on the menu! At this point recognizing that all she wanted to be is confrontational and defensive rather than understand our concerns, offer to "fix" the issue or offer a comp for the meal, I simply turned around and told her "whatever" and left. For a "High End" Restaurant, the LACK of Service, empathy for the Customer and unwillingness to "go the extra Mile" at the front counter was 100% positively unacceptable. With the countless number of restaurants that offer CONSISTENT high quality food there is ABSOLUTELY ZERO reason for anyone to frequent this establishment, even though you have had an OUTSTANDING meal in the past as my wife and her friends had had. If you want to risk it, don't say you weren't forewarned! This Restaurant is now on our 'Blacklist" and we are taking every opportunity to tell EVERYONE we come into contact with to AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE and encourage those of you reading this to do the same! read more

The location made this spot feel so exclusive, right across from the symphony hall. We were greeted and sat quickly and our waitress was very attentive but not intrusive. Taking in the modern and pristine decor while looking over the menu, I could tell the positive reviews were leading me in the right direction. I ordered the Farfalle & Chicken and my date ordered the Cannelloni, we shared a bit of both and the plates were almost empty. The servings are generous so it was a task. Don't read this if you are searching for a food description filled with accolades. The food was fine, perhaps even above average. Just don't have the vegetarian paella. Someone might ask, in an Italian-Mediterranean restaurant , why would you in the first place? But that's another story and uninteresting. Downtown Phoenix, up a set of escalators to an expansive patio, then through double doors to the hostess desk. Looking around, it was clear that the place was exceptionally busy, all tables being occupied and waiting patrons spilled out the door and onto the patio. I was glad to have made a reservation. Hostess greeted us directly. "Do you have a reservation?" "I believe I do, for 8 p.m." and gave her my name. It was about 7:30. Arrived early to have a martini at the bar and to await our table. "No, I don't see your name. I have no tables until eight o'clock." !!! Would it be possible to grab a drink in the bar to await our table, now reserved a second time for eight o'clock. "Bar's reserved for a private party" ("No martini for you.") And as it turned out, more prescient than she knew. "Is there perhaps a bar or restaurant nearby and we'll return at eight to be seated?" She turned to an employee "See if" such and such "is open." Man disappeared, returned in a minute, pronounced it so. We were seated immediately at a small table towards the back of what seemed to be the main room, there being another room adjacent. How accommodating. Good. Soon a server appeared, took drink orders. In a few minutes she reappeared with what appeared to be a martini and a G and T for my dinner partner. I had specified Tanqueray. Now, it has been my understanding since nearly the beginning of martini time that it is a gin drink, a bit of vermouth, and perhaps an olive or two. It can be shaken with ice or it can be stirred in ice, though originally it was stirred. I prefer shaken vigorously, infusing little flecks of ice that usually arrive with the drink. Most of this I described to our server. None of what was described arrived--not her fault. Instead, clear liquid in a proper glass was set before me. Something about it was off. I sipped: a barely chilled drink tasting nothing like Tanqueray gin, no olives. I struggled to figure out what had gone wrong behind the bar. Maybe my taste buds were off (an early sign of Alzheimer's perhaps or my three Moderna jabs were not up to the task.) There are those that believe a martini can be either gin or vodka. And in today's mushy world they would be correct. But the martini purist knows that originally this was a drink made with gin, essentially vodka with botanicals added during the making of the gin. It makes the liquor pop. Some love it, some can't stand it. Fair enough. But how bloody confusing. Just when I thought I had it all figured out I discover that Tanqueray also produces vodka. Case cracked. Bartender used Tanqueray Vodka I'd guessed. Or thought martini equals vodka. Who knows? Why such a big deal? the reader might rightfully ask. When you are looking forward to that pre-dinner cocktail and an unexpected intrusion arrives and a second try produces the same swill, well, it just changes the color of the evening. But all was not lost. Good dinner, good brunello di Montalcino, excellent server Donna. Would come again if in town. read more

I went as soon as they opened and it was nice and quiet. The bread was delicious. I came specifically for the clam linguini and I did not regret it. It was amazing!
