I was delighted to learn that the chefs here will prepare my favorite phad Thai meal with no garlic or onion in the sauce! The food was good, if overpriced, but we were charged more than the stated price on the menu. The beer cost $1 more, and the Tom Yam, which on the menu says to add $1 for seafood or noodles, was suddenly $5 more! When I pointed out the discrepancies, I got nothing but excuses from the owner, who told me: 1) the table we were sitting at had a different menu, because it was a table for three (which made no sense, and we were told we could sit anywhere when we walked in); 2) the menu was four years old (was I supposed to expect to have increases from what was printed?); 3) prices were going up every day; and 4) the seafood add-on could not be one dollar, but it's right there, in print, on the website. There are three different menus. WTF?! An older plasticized one for people sitting at reserved tables. A worn out paper one for everyone else, and an online menu. The owner refunded me the difference of the two beers, $2, but did not give me the difference of the $4 on the Tom Yam, making it the most expensive bowl of soup I have ever had, at $22. To the owner: I understand business is tough, but that is not my problem. By law, you have to charge what you have printed on your menu, otherwise, that's theft. This is not the way to build customer service -- making excuses and not taking responsibility for your own mistakes will never win customers. And here's an even better idea: when your customer points out a mistake, do not argue with them, do not make feeble excuses, just refund everything they've pointed out, and even better, give them something on the house as a gesture of good will . That's how you build clientele. It's unfortunate, because the food was good, and I live nearby. But because of this, we will not be returning. read more

Absolute wonderful!!! I asked if they had anything vegan in the menu. Our wonderful server explained that everything on the menu is freshly made so most everything on the menu could be made vegan! The flavor was exceptional and everything was fantastic!! We will be back soon and often. read more

Looked like a really cool place to get some take out. We got the drunken noodles but the improvise by putting pad tai noodles instead. Dish tasted great but without the right drunken noodles was really off. Haven't had anything else but will certainly go back. read more

This is some of the best Thai food we have ever had. The ingredients are FRESH and the curry's are especially divine. We also had the sausage dish, both kinds of spring rolls and the vegetarian dish with rice noodles. The presentation is just beautiful. We can't wait to come back. If I could give Maikham more than 5 stars I would. Can't say enough about how great this spot is. We had the Phad Kimao and the spicy fried rice and there was abundant love and skill in every bite, huge portions, and artfully plated. Stopped in here for dinner by chance. From outside you wouldn't expect this gem was here. Authentic Laotian/Thai cuisine. We had the Pork Laab and Chicken Massaman Curry. Very reasonably priced and very delicious and good sized portions. Expected to take home but so good we finished it all. Our timing was good as the restaurant soon filled up. Our waitperson, Adan, was very personable and gave excellent service even though she was by herself at the beginning. We willl be back. read more

We ate there this evening, on the patio. My wife had the cucumber salad and it was good. I had Goong Prik King. I gotta say I really liked it, spicy but not killer. And normally pad prik king only has the meat and green beans. This one had the shrimp, green beans, carrots, red pepper, some broccoli, and I think some cabbage bits in there. Nice, new, clean location. We were the only customers and it was really slow. Had lunch special with papaya salad and chicken leg and it was SO bland that we sent it back. They are charging full plate prices for small plate portions. The flavors were there, it just needed to taken up a few more notches. We ordered: - papaya salad, requested "very spicy" I don't recall seeing any chili peppers. The flavor was 'watered down'. - Lao Sausage was tasty, but portion was small. Probaby equivalent to 1 sausage, (I'm being generous), I expected more for a $10 plate - Grilled pork was 2 small skewers. Bland but it came with a soy sauce-based dip. Not worth $12, especially with no sticky rice. -Beef Larb came on top of a bed of iceberg lettuce. There was much more lettuce than beef. I live in Seattle, so perhaps they're catering the flavors to the local community. Giving 2 stars for small portions, subtle flavors, & no sticky rice. read more

My wife and I live in the Fairhaven area. During a neighborhood walk several weeks ago, we noticed signage for Maikham in the new Orca Building. Today we finally had an opportunity to try out their food. We walked over to the Orca Building and found the atmosphere very pleasant. We arrived as they were opening on a Sunday and were welcomed in and shown to our table by Chef Usanee herself. What followed was very nice and real conversation with her and the opening of the restaurant. My wife, three children and myself ordered a few of our Thai favorites and a few of dishes new to us. Chef Usanee definitely knows her way around Thai and Lao curries - exquisite and perfectly balanced - and distinctive! No melting into a plain background of coconut milk here. The fried rice is so flavorful and stirfried noodles are saucy and on point. The wait staff, especially Levey, is very knowledgeable, helpful, and all around outstanding human. Food was really good but the restaurant needs mucho organizational improvement. Had to wait an hour longer than told to receive my pickup. Wouldn't be so bad if told the order would take an hour and 20 mins instead of 20 mins. Would be top notch if they were better organized. read more

While the food was tasty here and the service was good, I ordered the Khao Soi with chicken for 13.99. The dish came out with one bone in chicken leg. That is not enough meat for the dish. They only do bone in chicken here, I wonder if it is always one chicken leg. I am not sure I will be returning to this restaurant anytime in the near future. We've visited twice so far and it's easily the best Thai in Fairhaven. The curries are excellent, the Laotian dishes are unique and delicious, and the mango sticky rice dessert is everything.
