This place has gotten much worse than before. Service is worse because they cut staff. You have to wait longer for seating, ordering, and food to come out. The prices for food went way up while the portions went way down. Our eggplant dish only had four small pieces of eggplant, which is pretty scanty for a dish named "spicy eggplant". As if that wasn't enough, they also charge additional for hot tea and rice ($5). In the past the entrees came with a bowl of rice but not anymore. There is no way you can eat an entree without rice, so that's their way of milking a bit more from you. They charge extra for mushrooms on a vegetarian dish, among other addon fees. This place really took a page out of the airline industry in terms of charging customers. read more

Very nice and tidy-looking Thai in an area where places don't usually look as such. The food tastes very good. This is a legitimate Thai with high-quality ingredients. All grilled vegetables have a deep flavor and crunchy texture. Service is ok. Very slow, inattentive, wait staff is made of college students(?). Disappointing. The food is good. I've been here twice now (dine in and take out)) and both times the food turned out okay compared to other Thai restaurants in the area. It is a bit too salty and green bean chicken has more green beans than I would liked. However, reason why I'm only giving 4 stars is the price. I don't understand why it's so expensive compared to other Thai places in the area for what I think is just slightly above "mediocre". The bar is set so low in Bellingham now with finding mediocre-good food that places charges such high prices. When I ate in person the service was fantastic. I like the bar area! Jerod, from Barber Shack, recommended this place, well, hope it was the one. Very happy, got a to go chicken pad thai and it was good, not spectacular though decent solid food, what one would expect. The waitress was very nice, took order and it was back within 10 minutes, quite happy. I enjoyed pad thai to go on an early Friday evening. My order was ready to go within 15 minutes from when I placed the order, and takeout service was prompt. The restaurant looks spruced up as well, with ample seating. For around $20, including tax and tip, I enjoyed a hearty dinner with plenty of leftovers to spare. The takeout container was filled to the brim with yummy noodles, bean sprouts, half a lime, and plenty of pork. Now for the (minor!) annoyances - the parking lot can be a bit cramped, and they do charge extra for rice with the standard entrees. This is a beautiful location, we came for a quick drink and caught the football game that was playing in the bar area. We were urged to order food several times and our 2 drinks took 20mins plus to receive but worth the wait. Due to the service times we were hesitant to order food however decided on a quick snack. The waitress then brought spicy peanuts to our table which was nice and unexpected. The restaurant is clean, has beautiful decor and fun modern colors. I love Wanida and have been going here for years. This time I had raw tofu red curry and brown rice. It was 3 stars and fantastic. It can be a tad loud inside, but the place is clean and service is prompt. I usually get pad ke mao and that always delivers. read more

I've gone to Wanida's for a few years but this is my first time visiting the new location. The food was good and the staff were friendly. The waiter offered a Thai iced tea for my friend because he noticed the food was quite spicy for her. I also like the silverware so much I took a picture. I also enjoyed the art. It's wonderful to get an immersive cultural experience with not only the food but also the art. However, the prices took a jump and the food hasn't changed at all. For what you get it's a little overpriced in my opinion. It was good but not for that price. I will visit again but just less often now. read more

I wanted so badly to give a great review, but there are some growing pains and mistakes that they need to improve upon. The biggest bummer being they messed up our order 3 times. We were seated promptly on a Saturday night around 5:45. Our server changed a few times and there were miscommunications throughout the whole experience. We ordered wings to start with, and we're brought a completely different dish - the crispy garlic chicken. We were going to order this anyway, so just said we could keep the dish. Not the end of the world, they just lost out on an appetizer sale. We ordered pad see ewe. They brought out pad Thai. I politely let them know it was the wrong dish so they brought it back to the kitchen, then came back with pad kee mow. I didn't want to send it back yet again, so we just accepted it as is. Our drinks were fabulous. And all things considered the food was very delicious. I know this location is new and growing pains will be there regardless- but I kind of expected a little more service-wise from a restaurant that already has 2 well established locations. I may try it again, and hope to improve this review. read more

Like many others I have been a happy customer of the original Wanida Thai Cuisine. Looking for a new experience, my friend and I decided to go to the new Wanida Thai Bistro location for lunch. Boy what a GREAT surprise! Upon entering, we were immediately impressed. Great, pleasant space. Pleasing , almost elegant decor. It put us both in a light-hearted mood. Then came the menu. Many new, great choices. Even better, was the server. Not only pleasant, but unusually knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients. She knew everything about every item we mentioned. As our conversation continued, her excitement gradually grew. Finally I asked if she cooked. She admitted to being a "Foodie:". It was apparent and fun! I ordered, "Green Bean Moo Krob". My friend ordered the daily combo special, "Curry and Pad Thai". We both declared them, "OUTSTANDING"! Their portable spice rack contained four distinctly different, but all very tasty choices. I loved them all, but for different applications. They are varying degrees of spicy, but, again, they were all very accurately described by our well-versed server. Great job! Free parking is available and plentiful. (Always a nice plus) This was one of those meals when my taste buds were still applauding hours after we had eaten! I love that! Noted seafood allergy and was served a dish that smelled very much like fish. My partner tested it for me and said that it did in fact taste like it was included and not like it does without the seafood ingredients. While I understand thai food for the most part heavily involves fish sauce, I mistakenly assumed they respected the threat it presents to those of us with an allergy. I suggest visiting the other Wanida Thai on Dupont, they've been nothing but respectful of the allergy and have higher quality food and service, with an additional perk of not being as expensive as the "bistro" version. read more

We've been anxiously awaiting this space to open up and couldn't wait to stop in. All things considered, we enjoyed our experience with just a few qualms about service. We ordered four dishes - wontons in spicy sauce, kra pow, yum woon sen and yum Khao tod/nam Khao. Our server, who was nice enough, couldn't pronounce half the dishes we ordered and wasn't familiar with the ingredients in one of the other dishes we ordered. The dishes we ordered were tasty! The seafood in the yum woon sen was cooked PERFECTLY and the drinkies were delicious. We'll definitely be back after giving them some time to work out service kinks! read more

First impression of Wanida Thai Bistro is this place looks sharp, the outside looks like it's been freshly painted and the outdoor patio looks good, too. Step inside and the restaurant is fresh and new, comfy booths and sophisticated finishes, unusual for a Thai place in the 'Ham. We sat outside. Service was okay, not the best. We ordered drinks and appetizers (Chicken Satay and a green salad, a beer and a Thai Iced Tea) and we got 3 out of 4. We got a cucumber salad instead of a green salad. Our mains came and they were good, not fantastic. The prices of the starters were pretty high, the main course prices were pretty normal, but disappointing in that they don't come with rice. The Chicken Satay seems like they are preformed pieces of chicken and they weren't that hot when they arrived. They were tough and very firm, too firm. My Pad See Ew with chicken was okay, but not the best I have had. This is a favorite dish for me, and while this tasted good, it just wasn't the best. I understand Wanida has put a lot of money in the physical spaces of this restaurant, and the prices reflect this. But the dishes (when the ordered dishes come correctly) do not match the quality expected, it is disappointing. read more

Wanida Thai is a nicely furnished attractive restaurant, a rarity among the usual Thai places. It can be noisy with all hard surfaces but we ate outside on a nice little patio. We love Thai food so it's no surprise that we really liked our fried rice with crispy chicken. The rice contained lots of vegetables and the chicken was served separately. It was actually very crisp as the name suggests, something that is often not the case elsewhere. On our occasional trips to Bellingham I predict we'll always eat here. read more

Thai-tastic! While we've been fans of Wanida takeout for a while, the new dine-in location is beautiful and delicious. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed a veggie Pad-See-Ew, chicken Pad-Kee-Mao and the shrimp cakes. Looks like Wanida got an upgrade! The new space looks gorgeous- all done up in shades of blue and grey with upscale appointments, this place is really nice. Everything looks very clean and tidy. There is ample parking and easy access. Service was fast and courteous. There is a full bar and signature cocktails...ooh, la, la! We started with the fresh rolls and were very happy with the crunchy veggies rolled in rice wrappers and served with peanut sauce. I had Praram Noodles with chicken, a vegetable forward dish with plenty of chicken, served with noodles and peanut sauce. The serving was large and I ended up taking some home. My husband's dish was Kapow Kai Dow- pork stir fried with fresh Thai chill, garlic, onion, bell pepper served with fried egg. He scarfed it up. Everything about the experience was top notch. We ordered a curry dish and the seafood spaghetti phad kee mao, the stars are on point and the flavor shines in every dish. They had a special appetizer for Valentine's Day called shots of love, it was chicken larb in a crispy cone. Many years ago, I spent about a month in Bangkok... and tonight's dinner was felt like I was right back in Thailand. The lights, the ambiance, it's bright and yet still cozy. Feels very much like a neighborhood restaurant that you'd want to be at weekly. The menu has a lot of fun Thai dishes that are unique from other spots in town, and I'm stoked to have a cute sit down restaurant with wanidas quality. The food was excellent, we especially loved our hongkong spicy dumplings. I took a risk in the spaghetti pad ki mao, and it was a fresh take on a dish I always get. Staff was friendly, opening weekend and so it was busy but service was warm. I'm stoked for this addition to the Birchwood neighborhood! read more

My food was terrible. I ordered green curry with grilled shrimp. What I got was a big bowl of green curry with a few precooked Costco shrimp thrown in. It came with a serving spoon.. but no bowls to serve it into, and no spoons to eat it with. The service was terrible. The waitress assured me that it was GRILLED shrimp in the curry. It was not. She also assured me that rice did not come with curry unless I paid $6 extra. And no table spoons. No complimentary soup like most Thai restaurants. In all, very very disappointing, and it cost me $102. For me and two guests. I am pretty sure I could get better food and better service at a fast food restaurant. And come out $50 less. read more

I have given this restaurant the benefit of the doubt now twice. Our first meal had a piece of steel scrubber in it. Tonight I took a sip of water that had food waste in it. Both times I reported and showed the wait staff what was in my food and the response was underwhelming. No apology or asking how to make it right. I am now starting to believe that this shows a lack of cleanliness in their kitchen. This was the location on Northwest. We will not return. read more
