Normally when I order Chicken Pad Thai at other restaurants am asked a spice level, not here. Portion size is good though food seems a bit expensive for lunch. Staff was very friendly, ambiance was warm and inviting, including music they were playing, the standard stuff. A star was lost due to price of food and general bland taste. Quickly seated and ordered within 4 minutes--1 minute after reviewing the menu. Instrumental music playing--guitar. A few tables emptied so very quiet just before 1:00 pm. Wife ordered a dish with 0 spice and I ordered mine Thai spicy 5. Not sure if it is a Bellingham thing but level 5 spicy is SOOOOOOO weak. The only place that has gotten close is Blue Mountain Grill otherwise every Thai restaurant from Blaine to Fairhaven is a level 2. The flavor was excellent but not Spicy even with added chili paste. Ordered our usual for our family, pad Thai, chicken fried rice, sweet n sour chicken and spring rolls. $100. Spring rolls are $2.00 more now but order was the same. Our sweet n sour chicken container was half the size as normal and only 3/4 full barely. Totally got ripped off. And now the pad Thai and fried rice are half of the portion that they used to be but more $$. Had to go to town and order more food from a different thai place to feed my family. We ordered chicken Pad Thai and Swimming Rama with chicken. Our coconut appetizer came, but the server didn't give us plates. It was hot and the sauce was syrupy, but we only had napkins. Our entrees were served as if they were for each of us, and we had to ask for plates to share the dishes. We had to request chopsticks. The food was OK but bland, we ordered two stars spicy. There were families in the restaurant, with children, so it was noisy. The single server was stretched, and she asked about our meal when we finished. read more

We ordered for pickup, just for me [my husband refuses to try Thai with me, as he has had bad experiences with Thai food] and they were kind to accommodate right before closing. I was surprised at the price and sizes for sauces. My husband went in to pick up, as I am disabled. We did not receive a receipt, so i do not know why it was so expensive. Over $20. I ordered a large peanut sauce and was bummed to receive a small soufflé cup of it, under a couple ounces. I wanted a side of coconut curry, and it was good, but I expected it to be just curry, it had vegetables in it. If i had known it would be with veggies, and that I was getting a big order of it, then i would have asked for tofu too. Also, I asked for spicy sauce on side, and it was so too small, like only a couple teaspoons of it!!! Had lunch here one day while in Bellingham. Ordered the Tom Yum soup - and asked - as I did not see it on the menu about Papaya salad. Yes, they do offer it - so I ordered that as well. I was asked how spicy I wanted my food? I advised I wanted it very spicy! I was served a very small cup of soup while I was waiting for my order - not sure what it was exactly but it was very garlicky. The food came out a few minutes later. I was surprised to see how big the bowl of Tom Yum was. They served it with noodles. I've never seen it served like that before. I skipped the noodles and ate the chicken, shrimp, vegetables and broth. The broth had a nice flavor, spicy and it seemed also to have a bit of garlic in it. Flavor-wise it was very good. You don't get much protein in bowl though - I had two shrimps and a few small pieces of chicken. I devoured the Papaya salad. The Papaya salad was very spicy - and a bit heavy on the garlic. This is a simple little Thai restaurant very near the I-5 freeway exit into Bellingham. There was not many people in the restaurant during my visit, but it got bussier as the evening went along. The Tum Yum Goong hot and sour soup with shrimp was fantastic. The Tofu app was just "so-so". It was okay, but can't say that I have ever ordered deep fried tofu and it arrived at my table breaded and fried.....different. The waitress was attentive, very polite and kept my glass filled. We are out of towners and stopped by because we were craving some Thai food after a trip up to Mt. Baker. As soon as we entered the restaurant, the staff were so friendly and kind. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. We will definitely be coming back when we are in the Bellingham area. The spring rolls, red curry and pad see ew were amazing!! But since then I recently had the Thai angel noodle dish today.... It was so damn good! Noodles were addicting. Perfect spice level, great veggies and yummy chicken. Will not return. Made a to-go order and chatted with the employee on the phone about how I always go back and forth between 3 star and 4 star when I order thai food. I went with 3 star for both orders. $23 for Phad Thai and Phad See Ew. I'm fine with that price if the quality matches. I'll pay the same at Nok's (or any other Thai in Seattle or Portland), or I'll be just as happy paying way less at On Rice. Get what you pay for. (Overheard an employee telling other employee she was angry about table 15 receiving their food 20 minutes before another table that was their first) My order was ready 35 minutes later and an employee announced my Phad See Ew and Phad Thai 2 stars was ready. Me: "Oh, I ordered 3 stars, not 2 stars." Employee: "Let me get you some spices. Sometimes it is not very spicy." Proceeds to reopen my to-go bag and add small containers of spices. A lot more Phad Thai than Phad See Ew. Awkward. Phad Thai is reddish and tastes like spaghetti sauce. Also awkward. Both orders of noodles are over-cooked and very soft. The owners (I believe) serve the tables and are very friendly. Wait time was on the longer side. It's a fine place to stop while traveling through if you're really desperate for Thai food. We arrived a little after 8 PM, so wondered if portions were tapered before closing at 9. We would typically have some leftovers. Late arriving customers (8:50) were unable to order fried rice (just ran out out of rice). My husband ordered red curry with beef and phad thai with chicken for pickup. The phad thai had two pieces of chicken, they were tiny bites...no sprouts, and it really seemed like the noodles were just covered in ketchup. The red curry had been spiced up to what would normally be a three star but he didn't ask for any spice, and wasn't asked during the order. Also, I went to try the curry and didn't even want any more of my noodles after smelling it, it smelled awful. They didn't give a care about the meal prepared for us.
