    High Tide Scramble

This place came up under "gluten free" but after seeing their menu, I am not totally sure why. Their egg dishes are gf, like at every restaurant, but they don't have any gf bread, pancakes, etc. I ordered the salmon scramble. Definitely fluffy and the salmon was good! The side of potatoes was pretty good, a little softer than I prefer, but good. The fruit platter was where I draw the line. It was like $8 for two slices of melon and a strawberry. Insane. I have no idea how they justify that and I was super bummed to see I had paid that much for like 20 cents worth of fruit. The staff is friendly, but almost frighteningly so. They all wear skirts down to the floor and no makeup. It feels like they are all in on some secret, but I can't quite figure it out.

Came in on a Thursday for late brunch, hadn't eaten all morning and was just looking for a close by place to stop. Glad I chose this spot! It was very cute, home town elevated diner vibe. It was quite loud in there, but I was by myself so didn't matter. It didn't seem to impede conversations at tables nearby either. The food was great! My bacon could have been a little crispier, but the French toast was perfect. Completely covered in powdered sugar, and cooked perfectly. 10/10 French toast! The peach mimosa was also good. Parking can be kind of tough here, it's a smaller lot but they do have a lower and upper lot, with the upper lot being bigger. I imagine on weekends, there's a wait bc the food is really good! Service was good, staff was friendly and attentive.

A friend recommended this place to me. The food is delicious and the servings are big! We had great service, our drinks were always full and the waitress was attentive. Definitely would come back if I'm out this way!

    Apple Pancake - IG @bougiefoodieboi

I went here around 11am on a Friday and there was surprisingly a 30 min wait for a party of 2. So I'd imagine longer wait times for the weekend. We only went here to try their famous apple pancakes which is a little pricy at $21+ but it was a very good, slightly custard-like texture for the fluff, not too sweet, which is great given this is an American breakfast spot. They do have apple cinnamon syrup on the side if you think it's not sweet enough, but we only tried it sparingly just to see how it is. We also got the honey lavender mimosa which was really good. It was more like a cocktail than a simple fruit mimosa, so that was good. Service is okay as water refills were available and they fulfill requests quickly. When we ordered the apple pancakes, they scared us saying it'll be an hour wait for it so we were like, sure let's do it, and it ended up being 20 min. I guess because we only wanted to order the apple pancakes, it's a huge loss of a table for them to make us wait the full hour for the next batch when they could seat other people ordering more food. To be fair, we weren't too hungry and were in a rush so it worked out in the end.

A very memorable and cute spot! The inside is decorated like a cozy cabin. I went very early on a Sunday morning and lucked out because I heard it can get packed. The buttermilk pancakes are truly special and the mushroom gravy + biscuits was unique!

I will preface this by saying I have a sweet tooth and sometime you just want a chocolate chip pancake, ok? Ok great! It has been a minute since I was here and guys yes there is a wait and yes, it's long but this is such a fun splurge that you can deal with that, but also, you can order your coffee, boozy coffee or whatever you like at the counter and sip as you wait! Fun times my friends. The place is pretty much an upscale barn type building with you guessed it a great big birch door, lots of windows plenty of tables and very down to earth! Service is always on point here and true enough our server was very polite if a bit new but nothing to detract from our time. I ordered the chocolate chip pancake 5/5 and there was plenty to go home with me(6 very fluffy delicious pancakes) the hubby ordered an omelet 5/5 with a side of pancakes. Everything was delicious and  Viennese was an added bonus (YUM!)

    Cute restaurant!

Cute brunch stop on my trip from Seattle to Vancouver! We were seated immediately and the restaurant was definitely lively on a weekday around noon. The interior was super cute and unique. However, I felt that the service was slow and the servers were impersonal. Not sure if it was because of the busy restaurant, but I can only imagine what it's like on a weekend... Otherwise, the food was decent. My over medium eggs were cooked great but just needed a little more seasoning. My mom loved her strawberry blintz, which came with a generous amount of fresh strawberries. The florentine omelette was just okay and also could've used more seasoning. The 3 buttermilk pancakes that came with the omelette were my favorite part of the meal! They were pretty dense and chewy, which is how I like my pancakes.

Must stop for your Bday brunch! The food is great but keep in mind the portions are large. We had to get an order of buttermilk pancakes for the table and no crumbs were left. The cherry on top was the surprised overran Sunday for out October bday girls. We were wearing bday headbands haha

Yummy Irish Coffee and wow they did not skimp on the whipped cream, my gosh!

We went to The Birch Door Café on a Sunday morning and it was absolutely packed. The parking lot was full, there was a line out the door, and the foyer was standing room only. Even with the crowd, the staff kept things moving and we only waited about fifteen minutes for a table, which was impressive. As we read the menu, we thought there were no bad choices. Everything sounded delicious. The place was really loud, but we did not mind. We were happily digging into our meal. I ordered the pumpkin pancakes, bacon, and country potatoes along with an Irish coffee. The pancakes were not fluffy, but I enjoyed the seasonal flavor and the light dusting of cinnamon sugar on top. They were sweet enough that I did not need any syrup. I was glad I ordered a half portion because with my eggs, bacon, and potatoes it was a feast. The bacon had the right crispness, and the potatoes were seasoned well. My husband had biscuits and gravy with poached eggs and potatoes. The biscuit was huge and the gravy was rich and delicious. We were impressed that even though the restaurant was so busy, our waitress never rushed us out. She was friendly, attentive, and handled the crowd with ease. Prices felt reasonable, portions were generous, and the food was fantastic. The tables for two are a little small, but that is a minor detail in an otherwise excellent experience. I can see why this place is so popular. We will definitely be back.

Best breakfast place between Vancouver and Portland. Upgrade to the specialty.. raspberry lemon white chocolate pancake were only 4.00 more as a side than the regular starch

Cozy local café with a rustic, country-cabin vibe that makes you feel right at home. Service was fast and genuinely friendly. The pancakes were awesome--fluffy and satisfying--but the real standout was their French baked omelettes. Light, fluffy, and perfectly cooked. The smoked salmon and cream cheese omelette is an absolute must-order. Solid spot for a comforting breakfast or brunch.

Amazing pancake place!! Huge selection of different pancakes, either sweet or savory. Our group had fun, sharing a different variety of pancakes and they were delicious.! My favorite pancake was the one with corned beef. It also has selections of egg Benedict's and scramble in addition to all the pancakes. The wait could be long - plan ahead (we waited half an hour after putting down the name for a party of four)

The patio can get a bit chilly, but it's worth it for the view, and they do have heaters available. I started with a salad, followed by the Keenan's burger with a garbanzo bean patty, and the soup du jour. All three were delicious. The complimentary bread served with garlic herb spread was a wonderful start--aromatic and very satisfying. The salad had a great balance of fresh vegetables and toppings. On a cold day, the soup was especially comforting. The burger itself was well prepared and flavorful. The staff was polite and attentive, though they seemed a bit overwhelmed due to a large party seated next to us. Another nice perk: there's a boardwalk and beach right next door, making it a great place for a stroll before or after your meal.

A Bit Longer Answer... Keenan's is somehow still a bit of a hidden gem in Bellingham, WA. How that is, at least for visitors, is beyond me. It is located in the absolute best hotel in Bellingham, the Chrysalis in Fairhaven, a delightful part of Bellingham, WA. You will want to stay there, just saying, and their spa? Oh my gosh...but I digress... A few weeks ago, while staying overnight, I took my brother-in-law to dinner at Keenan's. He dislikes...a lot. Forgive me, but one of his "super powers" seems to be in finding fault in any even somewhat nice restaurant. Something is always wrong with the food, the prices, and/or the service...yeah...but wait! Monty ate every bite and (wait for it...) did not complain once! Alert the media! Oh, happy day!! Okay, more details... I have had the pleasure of eating at Keenan's both in person at the restaurant and via their room service many times. BOTH ARE AMAZING! Their room service breakfasts are incredible! How they make their omelets as light and yet filling, EVEN WHEN DELIVERED to my lovely hotel room, is beyond me! Order their fruit, too, whatever it is they offer, order it. It will always be a beautifully flavorful addition to your meal. I can promise you your food will show up, even with room service, well-seasoned and ready to devour! Their dinners? WOW! I have had so many of their entrees, and each one is incredible. Their scallops are always perfect. Again, seasoned so that it complements the scallops without overpowering them. Their rib-eye is incredibly tender while still being cooked medium-rare, yay! And, their duck...oh my gosh! Hurray! I have to add, check their specials. I have never been steered wrong. Of course, a meal is almost as much affected by the service as by the food, right? They will treat you like a VIP, no matter who you are or what you order. How cool is that? I love that they have that ability to be attentive without hovering, nice! How funny is this? Their venue is stunning. There is no questioning that point. It is simply stunning! The cool part of that is that they cook like they don't have a view. Does that make sense? They don't just rely on that "wow" factor and assume you will just go there for the view. The food and service are even better than the view, and that says A LOT! Oh, shhhh...just saying, between you and me...Mia, our latest server, is a rock star! Can you tell I am a fan? Yep! Count me in! Go there, you will thank me!

Wonderful food and drinks. I started with oyster shooters (Willapa Bay) along with a Lion's Tail cocktail. Sierra said the bourbon and lime complement each other. I was happy to see steamed clams on the menu. I grew up eating fresh steamed seafood for dinner, so battered fried seafood that is more common here hasn't really grown on me yet. To me fried seafood is a fancy version of chicken nuggets. I loved the clams, so light but bland. The sauce is full of umami flavor, drizzled with some fresh lemon juice, it was like a summery beachy afternoon in a bowl. I could easily dip a loaf of toast with it if I had one. The clams were fresh and meaty, nothing to complain about with this dish. My partner had the grilled cheese, and he said it was mid. He's vegetarian, and I don't like cheese, so I didn't bother to try any of his meal to do my own fact check. The staff were friendly too. I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a young boy, attending special family dinners or just going to get pizza after soccer practice. Now well into adulthood I still find myself coming here with my wife for an excellent dining experience, any time or day of the week. This week we decided to go in for brunch, and I couldn't think of a better place to spend a dreary Washington morning. When you walk into this cozy little restaurant the smells of fresh breads and fried potatoes invite you into an elevated breakfast experience. Our hostess sat us down at a table almost immediately with the same friendly smile and welcoming attitude that I have come to expect from the staff at the fork. After sitting down and sipping of fresh squeezed orange juice we ordered two of our favorite breakfast plates. Chicken Fried Steak, and Corned Beef Hash. The Corned Beef Hash consisted two poached eggs sitting on a heaping pile of shredded corned beef that was both crispy and tender. Typically this dish is served with peppers and onions, but on this trip my wife opted out and the chef was happy to oblige our request. I can say from prior experiences that the peppers and onions are a fantastic addition to this mix. I went with the Chicken fried steak. A classic breakfast that requires a large appetite to face on your own! The cube steak was breaded and fried with the traditional seasonings, then covered in a house made gravy that was so rich and flavorful I couldn't put my fork down. I ordered mine with over medium eggs that were cooked perfectly, something that other kitchens can rarely get right. If you are a fan of Chicken Fried Steak then you must try this one! Both of our plates came with a large portion of golden brown home fries, and a fluffy biscuit served with honey butter and a peach preserve. Our server was extremely nice and very attentive. Although the restaurant was fairly busy she made sure our every need was taken care of :) I once again left the fork feeling full, and extremely satisfied.
