We went to our friend's cabin in Glacier and we always passed this Diner on the way up. We never thought to stop here for all the times we have driven by. What made us stop is that my girlfriends and I are always looking for good pie places to try. Acme came up as one of the pie places that was highly recommended. On our way home from Glacier, we decided to stop here for a late lunch. The staff was so nice and friendly when we walked in. We checked out the pies and boy did they have a nice selection of pies! We wanted to have some pie after lunch but we were stuffed. The diner was very clean and we loved the old diner feel of the place. They had booths, tables, and a bar. It felt like a diner from my parent's generation. I really loved the design and ambiance of the place. It just felt really comforting. My friend ordered the BLT, and I ordered the club sandwich. We asked for our bacon extra crispy and it was like they knew exactly what we wanted. It was the perfect crispiness and they were big thick cuts of bacon! The lettuce and tomatoes in our sandwiches could not be any fresher and my club had a really nice helping of sliced turkey and ham. No skimping on ingredients here! Our sandwiches were made perfectly and the portions are nice and big! We were stuffed! If only we had room for dessert!!! We really wanted to try the pie but we just couldn't do it. Absolutely everything we've ordered there has been mouthwatering. From the Prime Rib, Fish & Chips, Cheeseburgers, Chicken Fried Steak etc has not disappointed. Keeps bringing us back every week or two !! The sweet potato waffle fries are the best I've EVER had. The tartar sauce ? Hands down my favorite. Coleslaw ? Yep that too. Felt bad that we showed up FIVE MINUTES before closing. Hated that when I worked in the restaurant business. But the friendly staff reassured us everything was copacetic. Ordered the Chicken Burger, Sweet Potato Waffle Fries, and Apple Pie. After hiking all day at Mt. Baker it was glorious! I'm not sure if it was made with angel tears but it the pie was almost as good as my mother's. The sandwich was generous, the fries were crunchy and hot. 5 Stars Acme Diner in Acme, Washington What a find! My friend and I took a scenic drive up Highway 9 in Washington and ended up at the Acme Diner and wow, are we glad we did! This place is an absolute gem. The diner itself feels like a step back in time, with a fun 1950s vibe mixed with a cozy, hometown "Northern Exposure" kind of atmosphere. There's a bar area and a surprisingly extensive menu with everything from hearty breakfast options to sandwiches and full dinner plates like prime rib and turkey with stuffing. I had the Reuben sandwich with potato salad, and it was phenomenal. The corned beef was tender, packed with flavor, and there was plenty of it. Their homemade potato salad was just as good; fresh and creamy. My friend had the chicken wings (not battered), and they were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They even make their own ranch dressing from scratch! But the real star of the show? The pie. I cannot say enough about the pie. I got a slice of blackberry cheesecake pie and raspberry cheesecake pie to go (because I was already stuffed from lunch), and honestly, I'm still dreaming about it. It's not your typical dense cheesecake; it's fluffy, creamy, and heavenly. The crust is a traditional flaky pie crust (not graham cracker) and was perfectly crispy. The fresh berries on top just burst with flavor. I would drive all the way back just for the pie alone. It's that mind-blowingly good. The staff also made the experience even better. This spot was on my way back from a strenuous hike up north. It is definitely out of the way for any near by large town, that's for sure. If it is on your route, and you're craving a good size burger, then make sure to stop here. When you walk in, you see a retro diner bar and that's where I sat. There was plenty of booth seating as well if you want something more comfy. I arrived on an early Friday afternoon so it wasn't too busy. Friendly service; hot, generous servings; the diner experience at its finest! I had the corned beef hash and eggs, my husband had one of the skillets. He got a homemade biscuit with his food which stole the show! I didn't get to have any of the biscuit because I'm gluten-free, but they do offer gluten free toast. They'll even turn the gluten free bread into French toast if you like, but I didn't ask about whether the batter would be free from cross-contamination. The pies looked lovely but alas, not gluten free either. The place was clean and well kept, and the photography on the walls was beautiful interspersed with the usual diner decor. Came to Acme on our way to Mt. Baker. It was a long long long drive to even get to Acme from where we were coming from. We came here on a recommendation from a family member that had been here before. Love the inside of this place!! It gave like a western/70's vibe? It also had a bar section in the back area. Our waitress was great and gave us information about their menu. A lot of the their ingredients are local. I decided to get the veggie omelet and LOVED IT! I forgot what everyone else got but I do remember these HUGE blue berry pancakes that my bf and his mom got. Dannnng if I could have those everyday it be very dangerous for my health lol They were fluffy and crispy and the blueberries were sweet! amazing food here honestly. First off, this a diner and it's beautiful. You're in Acme so there are old western movie posters on the walls as well as a juke box in the corner and a local guy named Bob at the counter. Then along comes Katy the server and she just oozes awe shucks charm. Bob gives a running commentary on the diner as well as local goings on. And then the food. As it was 8:30 AM we decided on the number 1 special of the day which was 2 eggs, meat, hash browns, and toast. $12 folks. It was worth $24 but we only paid $12. My daughter and I were greeted immediately upon entering. The waitress (Rebecca I think) was friendly throughout our visit. We were warmly greeted by Kimberly our gracious server who also is the owner of this very homey and lovely diner! ( Apparently, Kim took over the business in Jan 2020! ). Menu is your regular homestyle entrees, Soups / Salads, Burgers, Breakfasts, Homestyle Meals and of course their Homemade Pies and famous Acme Ice Cream!! We came here after reading some great reviews from Yelp and also their intro at the hotel we were staying at. My Turkey dinner was done perfectly! With all the fixings and of course a very tasty and rich gravy makes the whole dish stands out! I particularly like their pan fried mixed vegetables so fresh and tasty! The Cobb Salad as you can see is filled to the brim with Grilled Chicken / Bacon, the vegetables are as fresh as can be!! And with that big heap of Blue Cheese how can it go wrong! Here's the thing about Acme diner- it's located in a restaurant desert and unless you are a local you have to be really dedicated to diner food to drive all the way out to this secluded valley to have a burger. The drive is beautiful though and the food is definitely worth the extra mileage on your car. We had the Acme burger and a chicken taco salad. The burger was thick and handmade with two huge rashers of bacon and a chunk of real cheddar melted over the juicy patty, a delicious departure from fastfood. My taco salad was a bowl full of yumminess. Fresh greens topped with grilled chicken, shredded cheddar, black olives, grape tomatoes, crisp jalapeños and tortilla chips. It comes with salsa and sour cream but I added thousand island dressing because I'm weird that way. Now on to the real reason for driving a little bit out of our way- the homemade pie! Tonight's selection was Banana cream, Coconut cream, Strawberry cream, Strawberry-rhubarb, Dutch raspberry, Blackberry and All American Apple. (I might have missed a pie but you get my point, they have a lot of pie. Unfortunately no Lemon Meringue which makes me more tempted to come back because that's my favorite) Both our pie choices were excellent and definitely better than any store bought pie, in fact they rivaled mom's pies- almost... Oh, my gosh! What a great find. Everything was great including drinks, but the highly recommended Chicken Caesar Sandwich was beyond amazing. Menu says, chicken breast, bacon, swiss cheese, lettuce and tomato on grilled parmesan-crusted sourdough bread. Cody and I were driving home after a night of camping at Silver Lake Park in Maple Falls (yes I camp in December in WA lol), and were looking for a brunch spot on our way home. Well there was nothing in Maple Falls, but we came across this place after driving for not too long. We are so glad we stumbled upon this place! It was a PERFECT brunch spot. We walked in and were told to pick a spot. The place was pretty busy, but it was a Sunday morning. We chose a 2 seater and were quickly given menus and offered coffee. Visited a couple of weeks ago. Made the one hour drive just for the pie - the drive is a nice one and the pie is well worth it. Mom had apple, I had blackberry. So good! Heading to Seattle and made the detour to hit the Acme Diner which I had bookmarked after reading Andrea H's review...it was worth the detour. The room has counter seating, tables and booths...I always prefer booths. And it has a 50's style retro interior with posters on the wall from that era. They have a large menu and large portion sizes. I ordered the regular stack of blueberry pancakes and realized I should have ordered the short stack when the plate was brought out as the three pancakes were quite large. Another in our group ordered the omelette and it was massive. The coffee was okay and bottomless....great that the staff kept stopping by to check on our coffees (though I do like a stronger cup of coffee). All the staff were friendly and attentive...they made you feel welcome. They also make in house pies and cinnamon buns that looked amazing but we had no room for either...perhaps on a return trip. It was a very positive food experience and happy to recommend the Acme Diner...a short detour off I-5...and worth it. read more

When I see the word ACME, I can't help but think of old-school cartoons where ACME products were used (think roadrunner & Wylie Coyote). At the touch of a button, a suitcase might fold open into a 3-bedroom house. Life hasn't quite gotten that easy and efficient, but if you come here morning or night, your home-cooked meal will be. Breakfast is served all day. The place is open until 8pm most nights, so you can actually eat pancakes and omelettes for dinner (unlike other breakfast places that close mid-afternoon). As I looked over the menu, I realized I was going to need to make the long drive back here. There are so many choices that I personally wanted to try. I ended up gobbling the turkey dinner and loosening a notch on my belt buckle. Both light and dark, slow roasted turkey was served alongside a large scoop of mashed potatoes and stuffing. All three were covered in a delicious gravy. A small container of cranberry sauce was served on the side. Unfortunately this place isn't open for Thanksgiving or Christmas, but it is nice to know you can get this traditional holiday meal pretty much any other day of the year. From Bellingham, Acme is about 12 miles away, but what a beautiful drive on winding country roads that cross the Nooksack River with picturesque scenery of horse pastures and mountains in the background. It's definitely worth a Sunday drive. The interior decor plays homage to a 1950s diner. There is counter space for singles, and tables and booths for parties of various sizes. WiFi is available which is almost a necessity out in the sticks where cellphone service is sketchy. There is a Pokémon gym at this location, but you won't be able to play long because the service is quick and efficient....just like all ACME products. read more
