My wife and I checked this place out in Bellingham since I have a gluten allergy. They don't advertise it quite well enough, but they are a fairly gluten-free dedicated restaurant. Don't let that fool you, the food is fantastic. We both had gluten-free fish and chips and they were among the best I've ever eaten. I would highly recommend this for anybody with celiac disease or a food allergy in general. My only gripe if I had one is that you must order at the counter and then go sit at a table. We were visiting family in the area and stopped here for dinner on a Friday evening at 6:15. The restaurant wasn't very busy, a few tables open. They are set up with a quick service counter order style. The gentleman at the counter was friendly. They offer a few beers, I chose a scotch ale which was tasty. We happened to be in Bellingham, so saw some good reviews of this place. It did not disappoint! Really good GF fish and chips, done in a dedicated GF fryer, with a side roulade sauce that was a wonderful accompaniment! Brandywine has become a solid favorite when I'm visiting Bham and looking for a quick, tasty dinner (with a beer of course). They always have good sandwiches on the menu, along with a decent tap list so I can enjoy a cold beer, too. The atmosphere is super casual, with ordering being done at their walk-up counter and self-seating. They can definitely get busy, especially on weekends or when a special event is in town, so plan accordingly. I also recently got to check out their upstairs area, which can be rented out for meetings or parties - great to know this option is available in a town which never seems to have enough meeting spaces. read more

I ordered the steak carne asada tacos this evening, and they must have run out of steak in the kitchen because one of my two tacos was made with burger meat-- it was quite obvious that someone had broken up a pre-made patty and cooked it in place of the strip steak. Some transparency would have been nice, because I would have chosen to swap out the tacos with another similarly priced item had I known. It was a fine meal, and I dumped the burger out onto the fries and ate them together with some ketchup, but it was not what I was expecting when I ordered steak tacos. You can't just switch out steak with ground beef and expect the customer to not notice. read more

Grood service and food. It's a busy spot so food takes a bit longer. Order at the counter and buss your own tables. Great chimichurri steak tacos, fish tacos looked good too. Bahn Mi bowl was good but a bit dry. Although the restaurant was full of people it was not overly noisy, which is a surprise for a wide open space with all hard surfaces. Stopped in here for lunch on our way to Canada and I am so glad we did. The restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere and just felt relaxing. It was clean and the set up to grab napkins and silverware as well as to bus your plates was very well done. I ordered the Brandywine hamburger and my husband had a Philly cheesesteak. The burger was absolutely delicious. The burger was juicy and well cooked, the sauce and toppings were in the right proportions, and the bun was toasty and so delicious. I spent the dollar to get the basil aioli for my fries and it was so very worth the cost. The fries were well cooked, crispy, not greasy, and salted perfectly. My husband's cheesesteak was well made with the cheese bubbly after being in the broiler for a bit so it just started to brown a little. He said it was very good. This was one of our go-to spots 8 years ago. Came in today hoping nothing changed, but disappointed. Got the brandywine burger and it looked the same minus regular raw red onions verses pickled ones like they use to have. Then the flavor of the meat was even more disappointing. It took me a minute to figure out what was off with it and then I realized the meat taste reheated. To me beef has a distinct flavor when it's been cooked and later reheated. Very nice space with tall ceilings and windows, light and airy atmosphere. The lack of table service takes it down a notch. Food is solidly in the "OK, I guess" camp. I've been wanting to try this place for the longest time and finally went there for dinner before THE HU concert. I ordered the "Rocket" BLT and was disappointed. The bread was fantastic, the bacon meh, the maple-tomato relish was barely existent, maybe a quarter of a teaspoon smidge, the avocado was even more sparse and I found no aioli whatsoever. I ordered the fish and chips and was super happy with that decision. The fries were wonderful and plentiful! Came to an Irish bar called Uisce which was cool and asked the lady for Fish and Chips recommendations since I was with my British companion checking out Bellingham. The lady at the bar recommended this place (Brandywine) that was next door as they would deliver to our table... The Brit said the chips were "absolute rubbish, as the oil they used either had not been changed in a while or they just straight over cooked them. It's such a simple part of the dish and I am shocked that this is what America is serving as our traditional cuisine"... Brandywine is a bit pricey... but I keep coming back anyways. Their portions are not large for the price. BUT they are always delicious and we can finish our meals without needing to take home left overs. My go to is always the French dip with the indian lentil soup. The soup doesnt really compliment this sandwich, but it's delicious so who cares. The french dip has perfectly tender meat and the au jus is AMAZING. It's also topped with a glorious amount of cheese... yum. Place fills up quickly during dinner rush but plenty of seats upstairs. Or come during lunch when it isnt so busy. Order at the counter. Yum yum yum! This place offers a great selection of sandwiches, burgers, and entrees for lunch. It is located off of Commercial Street. Parking is much easier than other downtown locations since they have a covered parking garage across the restaurant. The top floor of the parking garage offers a great panoramic view of downtown Bellingham. I ordered a Banh Mi sandwich for $14. While it is a bit pricey, the food tasted wonderful. You also get a choice of soup or salad along with the main dish. My colleague ordered a crispy chicken sandwich special. That looked delicious as well. read more

Went there yesterday for takeout. The girl was quite curt when I was ordering and didn't mention that the block would be completely shut down for some event (which like okay they're probably busy and she doesn't have to do that, sure) but when we finally got the food, got home, opened the boxes up...they served my burger, chopped up, on a baguette. Like a chopped meat sandwich. I wish they would've said they were out of buns because it was awful and I honestly don't think I'll be going back because of the service/taste which is sad because the Triple B was my "treat myself" meal and I always really liked Brandywine. read more
