It's probably suppose to be some joke. But I am a woman using a public bathroom alone and there is man waiting for me in it. How do you think that would make anyone feel. Scared? In danger? I did scream. And no concern in the slightest was shown. I doubt the establishment cares because if they had any empathy or understanding they wouldn't do this. The frys are our favorite in town! The burgers are very tasty it's the price for how much you get that makes it a less often go to burger place- we really did like the enlarged dining space! Unfortunately, today was a very disappointing experience. I was excited to get to be in town and take my nieces to lunch. We have come here before and they love it. When we got there they told us the grills weren't working when we first arrived, so we said thank you for letting us know because we had limited time (I had an appointment at 1:30). We had a plan B so we walked outside to head there. He followed us out and said they got the grills working, so we came back in. We went in and ordered. We then waited for almost an hour. During that time we saw multiple people come in and order food and leave with their takeout. We also watched one employee make himself a fancy drink and hang out. Finally I went over and said we needed to leave and that all our food needed to be to go. At this point he finally went back and started helping the other employee. When I told him this was supposed to be a special lunch and we had been waiting for almost an hour watching others leave with their food, he gave a short rude sorry and said they were having issues. It was not genuine and zero care was given. So either he lied about the grill starting to work or at some point it had issue again and he failed to let us know. My nieces were super patient but very sad that I had to rush and drop them off and didn't get to eat with them. I was also late to my appointment. This was a horrible experience all around. I was completely understanding of the grills not working and ready to go somewhere else and come back here on a different day. We have come here many times because my nieces love it. Absolutely soulless corporate slop smash burger. Such an overdone genre of restaurants but this might be the worst I've been too. Decorations have no cohesion why are there local artists paintings for sale on the walls and then a framed picture of Jordan and Pippin. There's a random single pac man machine in the corner like be honest who is using that. It's not even like a maximalist kinda vibe like the walls are so empty and white that I'm actually scared rn. And like lowkey would not care about the decor but this place feels like it wants me to stay, they got a whole bar and the food took a minute to get out and instead of enjoying my time waiting I was induced into a state of paranoia, uncertainty, and anxiety. Deceptive Practices: Trying to even eat here has been a nightmare. First two times I came with my girlfriend, they were closed during normal business hours! Misunderstanding I guess, things happen. The restaurant is such a cute little space that is bright and comfortable. When we walked in we had quite a few questions and the gentleman behind the counter answered everything with ease and a friendly smile. I highly recommend the chop cheese, honey fried chicken sandwich and I cannot rave about the Kobe beef fat fries enough! Order all the fries! The only issue we had was one of the chicken sandwiches had a bun burnt so badly that it ruined the taste of the whole sandwich so we took the chicken out and by itself it was fine. The food has always been great here. But every 3 years the prices increase. More recently the price of the fast-food fried chicken sandwich increased from 11.50 to now $14. The grilled chicken sandwich that was once $9 is now gone. The fries are still great, but now you're spending more than $20 to have it with your burger and after tipping. Ordered a spicy chicken sandwich and a cold brew milk shake. The milk shake only tasted like milk so took a few sips and tossed it. :( The chicken sandwich was soggy and lackluster. I did takeaway which is probably why it got soggy but I only live 10 minutes away and ate it right when I got home. I remember coming here a year ago and loving the quality and flavors! Side note: The chef who made my sandwich was eating a burger right before he made mine, no biggie he's a human and needs to eat too but I hope he washed his hands before he made my food. A fun spot for some burgers and fries. Unique decor makes for an interesting and exciting night. In terms of the menu, there is limited options for burgers, but I really enjoyed what I got. Wished they had more options and a bigger burger. The burger, although delicious, was a little on the smaller side for the price. The beef fat fries on the other hand, were AMAZING!!! They tasted like fancy McDonald's French fries. If you plan on eating here, seating wasn't the best. Limited tables and everything is self bussed, which when we went, wasn't managed well (some of the tables were dirty). Also, as some of the other reviews have mentioned, there is a strong smoke smell here. Like, when I went home after eating here, my clothes smelled like I was just at a bonfire. It didn't bother me a whole bunch, but I imagine there are a lot of people who are sensitive to that kind of smell. I love the partnership between this place, and the next door neighbor, Carnal. I heard they use the same ingredients & use cooking material from the high quality steaks/ meat from the other restaurant to make their burgers. Spicy chicken burger was really good I got the fire and ice sauce which is honey and chili oil. The mixed drinks are pre made but were good for the price. When I first came into the restaurant, I went into the restroom to wash my hands. While I was in there I noticed hair & blood on the toilet, floor and sink. The bathroom is filthy. I took several photos of the facility. Boot marks on several places on the walls. The walls all over, even to the floor are filthy. Does this bathroom never get cleaned? When I let the young man working the counter & taking orders, as well as making drinks know about the conditions of the restroom he got a wet rag & a spray bottle , then headed to the restroom. After the young man came back, l went to use the facility. There was still a good sized drop of blood on the floor in front of the toilet. There was still no toilet paper on either roller. There was a loose roll on a small plastic stand. The bathroom is still filthy. It's like they can't be bothered to properly clean it, and for a long time. After the mess up with my order and a young couple sitting next to me, someone assumed we were together, why... I don't know. The came in after me and I payed for my order before they ordered theirs, once I was done with mine. After telling the cook that I was stepping outside for a couple of minutes, I came in and they had throw the rest of my drink and food away! I watched while I was outside on the sidewalk in front of the door ,but by the edge of the curb... I took several photos and the guy working the counter NEVER came back to wait on anyone. So why did the cook (?) throw my food and the rest of my $9.00 margarita away? Harry came over to me and offered to replace my food but not my drink. It was mostly gone, but not quit. My first time here a few nights ago... Was wonderful however. The young couple left a review about how I was treated apparently. They were not happy and called our server a condisending ass. I'm 68 and disabled. Thank you. Also... As I was leaving I wanted to tell a young cook, " Harry" that he was a gentleman, because he was. When I was getting ready to leave, the waiter that had originally taken my order decided to be quit rude to me. Earlier when the young couple was sitting next to me, oh... They also put all our orders together and that was a confused mess to straighten out. Anyway, The young lady was apparently so upset by the way the waiter treated me, that when they got up to leave, she mention that she had just wrote a review of the restaurant and how the waiter was a condisending ass towards me. I didn't say anything at the time and wished her a her lovely husband a good night. However, when I had asked for a container for the meal they remade for me, the waiter became very rude to me in front of every patron in the place. I'm 68 & physically disabled, I was not rude to him in any way, but he felt the need to embarrass me in front of everyone. Now mind you, I was feeling rather vulnerable as I just found out last night by one of my grown children that they are dying of Lupus. I don't understand how for no reason someone chooses to be cruel to a complete stranger. He said I made it harder than it had to be..... I have no idea what he meant, other than I should just except his abusive behavior and leave. When I left there where 2 homeless men close to the restaurant and asked me if I was ok? They were so sweet to me, I gave them the meal Harry had remade for me and thanked them for their concern and wished them a good evening. They touched my heart greatly. The kindness of 5 people tonight keep me from feeling the cruelty of 1. I want to again say thank you to all of them, because they had no idea how heavy my fragile my heart has been since my child call me last night. So I wanted to like this place. Like, really wanted to. But sadly, I was just so disappointed. Maybe it was overly hyped, or maybe I was expecting too much? For one, it was a Saturday night (following a gorgeous sunny day) at 6:30pm, and there was one other party in there. It was a slow night, and I was a little confused because I'd heard how awesome this place was. For $18, I'd expect to get a burger/sandwich and fries. Sadly, it was just a burger, and while it was edible, it was far from what I hoped for. The Boujee Burger promised to be a lot but....It was a very thin patty and SALTY. The mayo was salty. The patty was salty. The bacon jam on top was salty. I could feel my fingers swelling as I ate. Dare I say, it wasn't worth it's salt? The fries are $4 for a cup, and it was filled, but I use that term loosely. And...you guessed it....salty. It's a good thing they have free water up at the counter. While the $14 fried chicken sandwich was better, I'm not convinced it's priced appropriately. Perhaps that's why it was dead - it's just too expensive for what it is? $41for two excessively salty sandwiches and one fry means that there might not be a next time. I ordered a single patty cheeseburger with fries. The cheese burger was made from a 2 ounce frozen patty.....pithy! The bun was hardly there and thin as anything. The lettuce, well they snuck in a lettuce heart so I had a large crunchy lettuce knuckle in my burger. And the burger was super salty! I mean, who salts the burger! My rating is so low because their ice cream is just god awful. I have never in my life had such disgusting ice cream that I couldn't even finish. I have wanted to try this place because of their bone mayos. We showed up and the moment we walked in we were hit with an overpowering smell of wood smoke. I believe it was the next door place Carnal. Regardless of the source it hurt my eyes after about ten minutes. They have a few soda and drink options but not a lot. The beer option was a Rainer tall boy so I opted for that, a cheeseburger, fries and a side of fry sauce made with the roasted shallot mayo. The fry sauce was amazing. The burger was small. It looked like a preformed patty and had that distinct good quality old fashioned drive in burger taste. Which I love so I was not disappointed. The pickles were unique and stood out flavor wise. They were almost too much and definitely cut thru everything. Overall, it was a good burger. Someone in our party got the honey chicken and it looked messy. I would recommend a fork and knife since it was dripping honey/butter all over the plate. You'll get sticky and need to use the bathroom to wash up which... It's counter only and you dump your own trash, so there's not much in the way of servicpertunties, but they were nice and courteous at the front, and the food came quickly and freshly. I had their hamburger. It was good. The meat was fine and well cooked, the bun a regular ball of carbohydrates. Far too much Mayo (I thought it was piles of melted cheese at first). Past the Mayo, it was ok. There's nothing wrong with this place, but there were no fireworks either. Limited menu of burger and chicken, but do what you do well, so that didn't bother me. I think my experience would have been better had I not been sweating like a mf. I think it's more of a 3.5 star rating. They don't have an a/c here or maybe it wasn't working. I had plans on having dinner at carnal, however, their menu looked a bit bougie for my kids' taste so as we walked away in search of food we saw this weird ass restaurant that had an artsy vibe. When I first walked past it, I didn't know what was going on (see photos of decor). Since it is a sister restaurant of carnal, the name was fitting and pretty witty. Not sure what the name carnal means... I know the late 80s/early 90s Latino gangster movies would always refer to their friends as carnal, meaning brother, but then there's also the English word, carnal. In any case, if it is the Spanish slang term then that would be even doper. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food. We got the chopped cheese, a double cheeseburger, spicy fried chicken and I got the honey fried chicken. I didn't like mine- it was just okay. It was kinda sweet and messy af- that, combined with being hot, sweaty and sticky due to the temp inside the restaurant just didn't go well together. Maybe it was a one off. However, that being said, last night I tasted the best burger under $10 in Bellingham. There is something to a simple smash burger that just gets me! Used to love coming here and I began coming before it was even called Accomplice (spacing on the old name.) There have definitely been ups and downs, and some of the downs are more egregious than others. Forgetting to put $2 roasted chicken mayo in my bag sucks but not as bad as the time they forgot to put the chicken in my Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich. There's also the issue of consistency. While I appreciate that they continually refine their recipes, some of the changes leave me scratching my head. Their once-great Chopped Cheese now has a bun that's completely soaked with grease the last several times I've ordered it. And though they switched to a more tender chicken breast for their sandwiches, it isn't as flavorful as the old sandwich. The problem with the old sandwich was that it was tough at times and made me feel like a caveman gnawing on a piece of leather. And sometimes the burgers are seasoned nicely, and other times they're bland. Today was likely my last visit. I'm happy to give chances, but seeing the cook load fries into their container and simultaneously stuff some of those fries into his mouth is unforgivable. Absolutely disgusting and shameful behavior. No one in the kitchen should be eating the food that will find its way into your customers' bags. Yes, you do want to come here for your fancy burger and fried chicken cravings! First let's clear up the pricing: a cheeseburger is $8.50, but I recommend the double at $12. The chicken sandwiches are $11.50, and a mushroom burger is $12. Adding a small fries is $1, a regular fry you can share is $3. In my opinion, the food was well worth the money! Biting into the double cheeseburger was so indulgent. Salty, cheesy, with soft bread and a flavor explosion of house made beef bone mayo. Would definitely get again. The honey chicken sandwich was more understated: sweet, crunchy, and a more mellow house made roasted chicken mayo. Both sandwiches had healthy servings of protein - no bun only bites.
