A friend recommended Doug's Burgers in Bellingham and it absolutely lived up to the hype. We ordered the bacon burger and the jalapeño burger, and both were seriously some of the best burgers we've ever had. You can tell everything is fresh--the buns were homemade, the burgers are perfectly cooked, and the flavors just hit. The fries deserve their own moment--homemade, crispy, and so good we couldn't stop eating them. Service was just as great as the food. Andreas the bartender stood out--super friendly, welcoming, and constantly wiping down tables and chairs. You can tell he really cares about keeping the place clean and creating a good experience. The food is 3 stars the only thing that did bring it up to four was the fun games they have but the seating wasn't too comfortable so we didn't stay very long . The bill was $29 just for my order. Me and my boyfriend shared the classic burger and queso fries. The classic burger was mediocre for the price. Coming from I was expecting a little more tbh but it was still good. The fries were very cheesy and yummy I will say. The pickle dip was a bit bland to me with like a little whisper of Dill (I'm a pickle lover so I could be biased). Overall this is a great place to go if not to hungry and wanna split something otherwise I'd say it's too pricey for what it was. read more

Finally tried Doug's Burgers. I did the classic with an extra patty. $10 for the classic and $4 more for the extra patty . And $4 for fries + $1 for dill ranch . Honestly it was a little dry and was missing something... especially for a $14 + burger. The service there was great, we ordered our food and sat in the bar and got a drink. Our bartender was really sweet and great. I'll definitely give it another try again, but definitely a little pricey for just a burger $$$ read more

I was visiting Bellingham and looking for a local burger shop. Found Doug's on Yelp and read the great reviews. Arrived and parked ib their lot. Entered and ordered a combo. After seating, I noticed that they also have a full bar. Maybe next time when I have a driver. The burger was great, fresh bun, plenty of vegetables. I fries were hot, and crispy. I'll be returning during my next visit. As I was leaving I also noticed that Jeffrie's deli shared the same building and interior. Never been to the brick-and-mortar location, but the food truck that comes by Ferndale every week is AMAZING. I eat a TON of burgers, and Doug's is my favorite in this area by far. Simple, straightforward menu, patties are cooked and seasoned perfectly, and their house-made buns are outstanding. Stopped in a while back for some lunch. Got some single cheeseburgers a chicken sandwich and cheese fries. Ask were very good. Its the one of the only places I can remember where the bun is the thing that stood out the most. The actual burger was good but the buns are homeade and just are so soft and delicious. Drove by so we thought we'd try it. It's edible. It's clean looking. But is it worth going back to? Not really. Edible food isn't necessarily good food but it didn't make us sick in any way tho it wasn't filling either. Fries were bland as bland could be. We had to eat food on the way home from eating food. The burger is bigger than the bun & both are bigger than the plate it's on which is odd. Soda cups are clearly from 1980s Pizza Hut & they use paper plates. Two kids could split a burger easily. Tho the staff didn't like really being asked questions. Seemed perturbed by basics and really seemed more used to people just coming in who are regulars who order eat and leave. They definitely didn't seem keen on new customers who may be confused. They did do the order correctly & mentioned they are going to open a deli next door soon. The parking lot is only in 1 direction & the handicap ramp is definitely really far to walk out to half way down the black & then back up. Bathrooms were clean. The giant rose bushes cover the sidewalk to the handicap ramp & the ramp itself. So if you're allergic to bees.... Heard all about how yummy Doug's food truck burgers were and was excited to check out their new brick and mortar location in Bellingham. My husband and I went in on a weeknight. There was one table occupied and no one else in the restaurant or lobby. It took at least five full minutes to be acknowledged by the guy at the counter. He was back in the kitchen talking with the cook. No comment about keeping us waiting or anything related to service. The dude acted like he was irritated we disturbed him. We ordered the regular house burgers, asked for medium rare and were told medium was the least they could be prepared. No biggie. If all you do is burgers, they probably know what they're doing. Also ordered a side of fries. The burgers arrived and first impression was GROSS! First of all, the patties were cooked to the point of being black (not just charred) and crumbly on the edges. The bun was so greasy and literally looked wet on the outside, like it was sprayed with oil before serving. I thought maybe I should taste it before judging. Maybe looks are deceiving? No such luck! Our first impressions were correct. Absolutely gross! Greasy bun, driest burger ever, far beyond well-done. And to top that all off, the tomato was tasteless and hard but the crowning glory was the slimy, brown lettuce. Ewww! When I returned our inedible burgers to the "charming" guy at the front, he asked in a loud, accusatory voice, "what's wrong with them!?" I took the greasy bun off the top to display the overcooked burger and the slimy lettuce. He literally rolled his eyes and with a heavy sigh, said, "Fine, here's your refund!" So unprofessional. Visited Doug's Burgers when we were in town visiting our daughter at WWU. My husband was on the hunt for a great burger. First time in for a late lunch today. Counter in front for take out and a nice little bar in the back. Quite a few old school video machines around. Not a lot of customers at this time of day, bartender was very friendly and gave us the low down on the menu and the history of the food truck to restaurant transition. We had the spicy jalepeno burger and the fried chicken burger. First thing you notice is the bun, it reminded me of my mums homemade burger buns. Fluffy and pillowy but nice and thin so you're not eating a thick bready bun. Apparently they have them made by a bakery in town. Fresh not frozen beef, seared perfectly, thin but not too thin, craggy bits on the edges. Perfect. American cheese. Roasted jalepenos were bomb, and a decently thick layer. Great sliced pickle chips. It's been a while since I've had a burger as tasty as this, and not over the top with condiments. Fried chicken was crunchy outside, juicy inside. Really unassuming to look at but the ? lettuce slaw with honey mustard was really really good. Best ever fried chicken sandwich was uttered! It wasn't ready until 6:50p - a full 30 minutes later while we waited with our toddler and infant. We had high hopes the food would be outstanding; instead, I would have returned it and asked for our money back if we hadn't gotten it to go. The buns were average - not delicious, nothing special. The burgers were thin and dry. The fries were soggy. The lettuce was flimsy. We were so excited to try this place. As a burger enthusiast, I had high hopes for this place, especially given the awards they've won--but I was seriously disappointed. I understand the concept of the menu: simple, limited items, and affordable. However, the execution fell short. I ordered both the plain burger and the spicy burger. The plain burger was dry, overly salted, and tough to eat after the first bite. The spicy burger wasn't spicy at all--the jalapeños weren't grilled, the sauce was bland, and the pickles didn't complement the burger. Dougs is the best. We come here every chance we get. Even for our 25th anniversary dinner. The burgers are amazing. The fries are cooked perfectly and have just the right amount of salt. We paid way too much to be so sorely disappointed. The burger was dry and thin while the bun was enormous and equally as dry. The fries and chicken strips tasted like they haven't changed their fryer oil in a long time. It cost us $58 for two burgers, fries and a chicken strips basket for our son. The atmosphere was fun and the servers were nice, but we won't be returning. First I love spicy so I ordered the spicy burger. It was like the took a can of jalapeno and just dumped it on top of the slightly overcooked burger. The bun was wet and gross. I really want to like a new burger place. First, a great bun, live a fluffy and solid Brioche style bun, I give them kudos. The bun to burger was too much bun...they use Romaine instead of a pile of or managed pull of much more crispy iceberg. The tomatoes were non existent, 2 big, at least one fat beefsteak is proper for this bun. The bun was soggy, this style of bun must be a bit crisped before adding all. Lastly, good fries, great flavor, a tad too much salt, Do Not over salt, if anything under salt. I'll hope to get back there w this type of structure, but to have soggy lettuce, dark green ends of lettuce does not serve any burger well. I hate writing bad reviews but I gave them a chance to right the wrong. Ordered 2 burgers and fries to pick up. Once we got home we realized we did not get the extra bacon on either($3.00 each) nor did we get the extra burger sauces ( $2.00 each) . I sent email to them but no response. Gotta pay attention to details!! Missing items and no responses to emails is not that. $10. Out of pocket for nothing. I have come here several times with various family members and we have had a great experience every time. The food is delicious, always seasoned well and very tasty! The street fries are very unique, not my personal preference but my husband LOVES them! Definitely worth trying! They also have fun arcade games in their lobby seating and bar area which is a really fun touch, especially if you come with kids. Definitely highly recommend especially for the prices! I love this new(ish) spot! As someone who is gluten free, I needed a replacement for Boomers since they've gone downhill (and their gf buns are not great). Went here with my family on Halloween and it was not good. Our burger was gross. Everybody said the food was not seasoned normally at all. The guy that worked there smelled like cigarettes and kept coming and going smoking cigarettes coming back and asking us if we wanted anything. The whole thing was a disaster and everybody else that waited for their food felt the same way, I wouldn't mind waiting if it was good, but it was definitely not good and that was so disappointing. read more
