We were seated immediately at a spacious booth. Lighting is at a comfortable relaxed level, not to bright or dark. Floors and tables are very clean. Service is excellent, a very welcoming and inviting atmosphere. All the staff here are very cheerful. I started with a bowl of clam chowder. It is very thick and creamy, very much like a stew, loaded with clam, potato and celery with ham or bacon. The flavor was spot on with all the clam chunks and potatoes. Not overly seasoned, this chowder could be a contest winner. The Smoky Cheddar Burger is on a brioche bun and has 2 slices thick bacon, lettuce, fresh tomato and onion. Beef is thick and flavorful, nicely seasoned with an excellent char. Combined with the huge pile of fries, this was a very filling meal. The breakfast burrito is heavy! This thing is packed with a generous amount of egg, sausage and cheese. The side of fresh fruit is also actually very fresh. Just a great experience overall in the Red River Cafe. read more

Excellent service and tasty food. The beer selection was local, cold, and responsibly priced. The Cobb Salad was loaded with the typical ingredients. I've had the halibut (pan seared and ale battered), sampler, smokehouse burger, grilled steak sandwich, shrimp Sautee & of course the clam chowder. Service could've been better but you gotta understand what you're working with. The managers Vidal & Jay are very hands on and helpful making sure everything is done right. The specials were always good at the old Red River so I'm sure they'll be fine at the new one. The new Red River also has way more seating so hopefully this will cut wait time down on busy nights. I'm a little surprised to see the overall rating average under a 4 at Red River, especially compared to a lot of the much less desirable restaurants in the area with higher ratings that are just terrible. I don't gamble but I do come here probably about once a month just to eat. The prime rib is delicious! It's not the most aged cut that you might get from a really fancy steakhouse, but trust me, it is still darn good, and definitely enough to keep me coming back on repeat (and I am admittedly a bit snobby about my steaks). Portions are excellent here. The burgers and breakfasty items are also really good, they just need to swap out whipped margarine to whipped butter, because margarine is gross. They do have little butter packets though, so be sure to ask if you hate margarine as much as I do. I also got a cold baked potato once so I now just get the mashed potatoes, which btw are excellent and always hot. Got a cheesecake to go once from the Barista there too, surprisingly good, not too sweet and very creamy. Overall the food is definitely worth coming back for, good quality, large portions, and very fair prices. Honestly my only real gripe about the place is that customer service is sort of hit or miss, sometimes service is great but other times the staff looks either miserable or they're just completely aloof, (not rude or anything, but it can be a bit of a downer). My mom loved her reuben, and my aloha sandwich was fresh and well grilled. I also got an eclair after dinner and it was incredibly inexpensive but also delicious, fluffy, and light! Came here for Thanksgiving dinner and am really impressed. The turkey dinner was fantastic and a reasonable price. Came with two thick slices of turkey breast, mashed potatoes, Brussel sprouts, and stuffing, with side of cranberry sauce. Turkey was nice and tender, covered with gravy. The fish I was served WAS NOT halibut! It was mushy and tasted like tilapia. Instead of fries, I opted for a baked potato. The potato was hard and lukewarm. The single packet of butter I received was frozen so would not melt on my lukewarm potato. The crust on the fish was crispy. The only good thing about the meal! The coleslaw offering was inedible. Unless you like purple cabbage soaked in vinegar! There were perhaps 8 people in the whole restaurant and I counted 7 personnel including the guy who was pretending to be a cook. I asked for water when I ordered my meal. My server passed by me 3vtimes and didn't notice he had not brought me my water. The fourth time, I practically had8 to trip him to get him to stop so I could ask for my water. Bottom line.. Don't waste your money at the Red River Cafe. Food and service is HORRIBLE!!! Went there tonight for their Fri-Sat Prime Rib dinner, very tasty, and only $22.00! Salad, well-seasoned, tender meat, generous portion, and tasty mashed potatoes, baby carrots. A great deal and great service. Their menu has changed since Covid, and we will return for some interesting menu items. I felt safe there--distanced tables and booths, all the help in masks, as well as patrons. You have to navigate your way through the smokey casino. All the way to the back to find the cafe nestled in the rear of the building Red River Cafe has a burger special for a month. This month is the Big Kahuna. The is a 1/2 Pound beef burger with ham, pineapple, and cheese, with all the fixings. This burger screams taste of Hawaii. Sweet, and yet very robust. It comes with some very thick curly fries, that have a lot of flavors. This place may be a bit out of the way, and it is so worth the effort. I'll be back for more. went here the night before and had good service. showed up today and waited a bit longer than expected. got my burger and my cheese literally slid off into the plate. nothing left on the burger. brought it to the servers attention and merely got a haphazard apology and a "we will make it again" and walked away. at that point I was done and asked for the bill for my drink. We went there for breakfast this past weekend during the Casino's annual car show. It was a busy breakfast morning for the restaurants and the wait time, 30 minutes was accepted and we waited. It was worth the wait, but we opted for lunch. I noticed the BLT right off the bat, having recently having had a terribly disappointing experience with my last BLT at a place down in Conway, WA. As I pondered this predicament and wondered if I should try it, my husband, who had witnessed the previous BLT fiasco, suggested I should try it and see it it could make up for the last one. And so I did. Happy I did because they made a top notch BLT with lots of bacon. By lots I mean it was sticking out the sides. It was Hempler's. There was green leaf lettuce and it was fresh. Lots of tomato. The fries were good, but the tartar sauce wasn't my preferred tasting tartar sauce so I didn't like it, but that's on me, I'm picky about tartar sauce. My son had the same thing, but w/potato salad. He said the salad was good, but not as good as mine (that's because it was my Mom's). My husband had the patty melt. He said it was pretty good and that it had onions on it w/melted cheese and it was ground beef and served as a sandwich. He enjoyed it and had fries. Coffee was tasty and service was friendly. We had to hail a waitress after serving all the tables around us. Finally received our food and, frankly after dining here often in the past, was awful and served in a plastic basket. Nothing has been done to improve, or should we say "create" service in this cafe. We were there for breakfast with only one other patron in the entire cafe. Required 45 minutes for us to receive our standard order of eggs, hash browns, sausage, etc. Totally absurd. Had the same experience about a year ago. Absolutely will never go back, even if the food is free. Apparently the cook doesn't give a rap and must be related to the management by the fact he still has a job.
