SOUP du JOUR
Sameer K.

This spot is perfect for a scenic dinner--especially if you time it for sunset. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The patio can get a bit chilly, but it's worth it for the view, and they do have heaters available. I started with a salad, followed by the Keenan's burger with a garbanzo bean patty, and the soup du jour. All three were delicious. The complimentary bread served with garlic herb spread was a wonderful start--aromatic and very satisfying. The salad had a great balance of fresh vegetables and toppings. On a cold day, the soup was especially comforting. The burger itself was well prepared and flavorful. The staff was polite and attentive, though they seemed a bit overwhelmed due to a large party seated next to us. Another nice perk: there's a boardwalk and beach right next door, making it a great place for a stroll before or after your meal.

We always love Keenan's (we've been many times over the years but always just come for drinks and apps). The view truly can't be beat and the staff is so kind and sweet! My husband loves their ball and a bat (shot with a beer) and I love the cocktails, wine selection, and they make a great Arnold palmer. I love that they have games in their sitting area of the hotel that you can take to your table- like codenames. The truffle fries are sooo good and the portion size is huge! Can't wait to come back next time we are in town!

The chowder was absolutely amazing, and all of the food was excellent. Everything tasted fresh and was perfectly prepared. The service was just as impressive--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Add in the beautiful waterfront setting, and it made for a fantastic experience. Definitely a 5-star meal and a place I'd come back to!

The venue is gorgeous. Have stayed at the hotel before but didn't eat at the restaurant with so many nearby excellent options. Decided to have brunch on checkout and found the service to be excellent and friendly. The food is fresh and high quality. They pay attention to the ingredients and it shows. The melon salad with mint vinaigrette (no photo) and fried pancetta was remarkable. While I would normally only provide 4 stars for a venue like this, they exceed expectations given their location. Fantastic view, reasonable prices while delivering excellent quality and great staff.

Strange Falafel!

Go for the view, not the food. The patio is lovely - you'll see and hear the waves breaking on the shore, and if you're lucky, you'll see a ferry and train - a quintessential northwest scene. The food is another story. We expected more of the restaurant within the Chrysalis. The service was good, but the actual food? Don't bother. Actually the house salad was quite good- served with pecorino, shaved asparagus, pine nuts - and perfectly dressed. The falafel was another story - extra large balls with a hard exterior and gummy interior. Served with feta (why?), hummus, and waaaaay too much paprika. Call me a traditionalist, but smaller balls/patties with tahini would be a good place to start. Too much going on here... My friend said her crab cakes were "flavorless". Go for the view, maybe a glass of wine and the house salad...

Stopped by on a whim and got seated right away. The food took about 20 minutes to arrive, but it was absolutely worth the wait--delicious! The place also has a nice view, which made the experience even better.

Lovely Sunday lunch here! I got the fish tacos with clam chowder and both were scrumptious. We did not have a reservation so they sat us in the bar area which was perfectly fine. I would recommend a reservation. It was a beautiful view of the bay and our server was friendly.

Have been wanting to try Keenan's for a while and finally got the chance to do so-- it did not disappoint! The service was incredible! What we ordered: - clam chowder: although a little salty, it was the perfect creaminess filled with an abundance of ingredients! Every bite was something new.. and it just paired so well with the cheesy bread the came along with it! - classic breakfast: your choice of 2 eggs, bread and protein with hash! it was very filling!! And honestly, can't go wrong with this options - breakfast omelette: just big enough of a portion, but slightly salty Inside was spacious and had many tables! Ask for a water view if you can to up the entire experience!!

Ask the Community - Keenan's at the Pier

Hi there, we are traveling from out of town and I saw you still require masks for guests? I just wanted to check and see if that was still accurate so we can be prepared.

No masks required.

Is it kid friendly? We have a two and a half year old who is pretty well behaved in restaurants but want to verify first!

Yes. It is perfectly fine for kids in the non bar era of course.

Is the 3-6 happy hour menu only available in the bar or can you order from it anywhere in the restaurant?

Hi Megan! We serve happy hour every day from 3-6pm in the bar, Living Room and on the Terrace only. It is not served in the dining room, outside patio, or with room service. Hope that clarifies and that we see you soon!

Do they sell gift cards?

Yes, I believe Keenan's does have gift cards.

Connor is a genius! I told him I wanted a couple of n/a cocktails and that he could pick for me…read more(I'd like anything) or experiment on me. He chose the latter. OMG! Each used n/a spirits (n/a mezcal in the latter) and a symphony of sophisticated ingredients, which wish I tell you what. Each had a speared dried citrus slice and a luscious ginger bite (or something!) a top. The first had included honey, but it wasn't sweet--just complexified with a little snap to it that the honey smoothed; the second was a little sweeter in tone, including a bit of huckleberry along with the mezcal. (Connor might recall them by my play name for them. Inspired by a book in my hand on collecting meteorites, I nicknamed the first the "Extraterrestrial Visitor" and the second the "Heavenly Visitor.") They were so delicious I suggested he put them on the menu. If he does or doesn't, no matter. Just ask him if he has time to get creative for you. He'll ask you flavor tone preferences, or you can just go for whatever he wants to make, like I did. Again, he is excellent. I enjoyed my lovely drinks with a Caesar salad (another OMG!) which included crispy bacon bits and loads of tiny shreds of a delicious white cheese along with a creamy dressing. It was scrumptious as was the very lovely charcuterie plate. Pistachios, green apple slices, fat outstanding Castelvetrano olives (caution: with pits), a luscious pepper jelly that went beautifully dipped into with their choice of excellent crackers, delicately flavored salami and a prosciutto so elegantly-flavored it could make you weep. And it was lovely enjoying it all on their "porch" on a sunny day.

The place was not even half full. No follow-up after our drinks and then after we finished one drink she basically avoided us no matter how obvious we tried to be that we wanted to order another (opening the menu, waving a hand). She was rude and didn't even try to show service. A few months ago we were there and the staff and bartender were being extremely obnoxious, loud talking, and just unprofessional...We usually stay for 2 drinks be decided to leave and not give further business...Looks like we will be looking for another cocktail bar to give our time and money to...

My Wife looked at me in disbelief as I kept commenting on the Burger available on the dinner menu…read moreand stated: This is the best burger I have ever had in my life! Make no mistake though, this is not a Burger restaurant but a nice French based dinner house that completely knocked the ball out of the park with their burger. We discovered Estelle on our most recent long weekend getaway to Bellingham. We like to come up to Bellingham once or twice per year. What a discovery this was! I certainly have a favorite pizza (Dirty Dave's Pizza in Lacey), a favorite burger and a favorite steakhouse (Met Grill). The rest of the food was outstanding. While I raised an eyebrow that a dinner roll was offered for $5 on the menu, I was quickly reassured once this over sized dinner roll was delivered with what featured as "Brown Butter". The Brown Butter is absolutely amazing. The service was excellent. The food was exceptional.

Both were excellent. Everything was freshly prepared and disparate flavors worked together amzingly well. Our main course was the Black Cod and it was some of the best fish I have ever had. Proporptions were generous, the fish is self was amazingly moist and tender, with just a hint of crunch on the outside. The fingerling potatoes were creamy inside, and also with nice crispy edges. The artichoke cream was full of flavor, with a sweet counterpoint from thin but flavorful wheels of tommatillo that just made all the flavors sing. We went for the deseert with a a choclate mouse bottom layer, chocolate crumbles in the middle and a vanilla Chantilly on top. Another symphony of texture and flavors! I went for the Chateau Bancli Sauvignon Blanc and it too was one of the best SauvBlancs I have had. Rather than leaning into the herbal flavors, this one had more fruit, while still preserving good acidity and mineralty making it a great pairing with the cod. Julia was our server and she was great! Helpful in all ways, attentive to our needs at just the right time, and just a real pleasure to interact with. For rereference I was down in SF Bay Area in September and hit several really good restuarants in Napa, Danville, and Los Gatos. Estelle met or exceeded all of the them across the board. Prices are comparable to Keenan's but overall food quality was far better. Now it is time to work our way through the menu!

We were seated promptly by a friendly hostess at a table in DT Fairhaven, and our server was the bartender. After being seated, we waited a long time without anyone taking our order. We eventually asked if we had a server and were told it was him, with no apology or explanation. We ordered drinks and food, but after more than 40 minutes, we noticed two tables seated after us had already been served, finished eating, and were leaving. At that point, we asked for the check and said we would not be staying. About 15 minutes later, the server returned with our food instead of the check. We declined the meal and sent it back. He then asked if we wanted it boxed to go, which we also declined. His reaction suggested frustration rather than understanding. We never got to try the food, so we can't comment on it. The service, however, was well below expectations given the restaurant's reputation. This was lunch on July 15, 2026. We may try The Black Cat again in the future, hoping this was just an off day.

The dining room was elegant yet cozy, with great lighting. The staff was also very friendly and our waiter was very helpful in aiding our choice. We ordered the Focaccia bread, the salmon momtadito and the tonnarelli as our entree. The focaccia was the only dissapointing item as it was very basic in my opinion, which isn't bad but just nothing exciting to write about. The appetizer, the salmon montadito, was probably my favorite item of the night. It was served on focaccia bread and drizzled with a truffle honey butter and sat upon a mascarapone yogurt. It was elegant and it was incredibly flavorful. The sweetness of the truffle honey butter was a great contrast to the salmon itself, and all melted together to make an exceptional appetizer. The tonnarelli was a pasta dish we split and was also very tasty. The pasta itself was a thicker spaghetti like pasta served with plenty of crab. It was tasty and it satisfied and I'd likely order it again as I will be back when my sister's visit. All in all, a great restaurant to spend a nice night right in the heart of Bellingham!
